Tracey Nannette Deits - May 28, 1970 - October 12, 2023

Departed: 10/12/2023 (Molalla)
Obituary Preview: Tracey (Buttons) Nannette Deits, daughter of (Genny) Kathleen Jeannette Rogerson, passed away at the age of 53 on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Portland Adventist Hospital due to complications from pneumonia.
Although Tracey had suffered from Spina Bifida since birth, she always had a smile for everyone she was around. She showed all of us that the simple things in life can bring joy to life each and every day. Tracey’s best friend was her radio because she loved listening to music. Her dad played a Country Concert at Morning Star Church in Salem, Oregon. Everyone told him the best part of the night was watching Tracey rocking to the music. Tracey loved to travel and knew she was flying somewhere when she saw the airport sign on the freeway. She would get so excited no matter the time of day or night we had to travel to the airport. She loved cruises and visiting different places and we were able to actually celebrate two of her birthdays while on a cruise. Going for rides in the car and eating out was a joy for Tracey and she never left a restaurant without a spoon on her lap. We will have wind chimes made from the 85 spoons Tracey collected over the years. Tracey found joy in so many things as simple as a balloon, the bright lights at Christmas, being in a swimming pool where she was free from her wheelchair and just being a part of a family gathering.
Doctors had stated that because of the severity of her Spina Bifida Tracey would be fortunate to live to age ten. Tracey proved the doctors wrong. Over the years through all of the surgeries and illnesses that she fought and recovered from, Tracey loved life and found joy in each and every day. Tracey loved being with her family and was always included in all the family activities so she never felt excluded because of her disability.
Tracey attended special education through high school receiving her diploma in 1991 in The Dalles, Oregon. She loved attending school anxiously waiting for the yellow school bus every morning. Tracey was loved by her classmates and teachers and when she received her diploma, the entire class stood up and cheered. Tracey enjoyed participating in Special Olympics in the wheel chair races. When Tracey won first place she looked so happy in the picture The Dalles Chronicle Newspaper took of her with her trophy with Ronald McDonald beside her. She absolutely loved being on the asphalt track at the high school because it gave her the freedom to wheel herself as fast as she wanted to go.
Tracey touched this earth with her gentle spirit and loving heart. She was truly a precious gift from God. As her mom, I often thought she saw angels when she would softly smile in her darkest times in the hospital touching every doctor and nurse with her courage.
Tracey is survived by her mother (Genny) Kathleen Jeannette Rogerson; sisters Kayla Rogerson, Stacey Alexander, Alexia Banks, Jeanneil Rogerson; brothers Jim Roethlin, Wade Rogerson (wife Samantha), Kristofer Rogerson (wife Brianne), Caitlin Scantlin; and many Aunts, Uncles and cousins.
Tracey was preceded in death by her loving Grandfather Wilburn Sloan and Grandmother Kathleen Sloan, A. Neil Rogerson loving father to Tracey and husband to (Genny) Kathleen Jeannette Rogerson.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Tracey in the Spring which was her favorite time of the year.

Norman Fawcett was born April 11th 1928 at home in Wetonka, South Dakota. The first of 6 children, to Charles and Maude Fawcett. At around the age of 6, Norman’s family packed up and moved to Molalla Oregon, where some of his mother’s family had already settled. Norman attended maple grove school and Molalla High School for a brief time. Due to Norman’s fathers health, Norman often had to work in the woods or at several of the mills to help support the family. During WWII, Norman also worked in the shipyards of Portland as a welder. He joined the army in 1945 and served until 1947.
The army trained him as a mechanic and after he got out of the army he took over a service station in Portland. Later a friend got him into hanging drywall. Norman’s sister Donna introduced him to one of her roommates Beulah Critchlow. Norman and Bea began dating and were married in February 1949. Norm and Bea had three sons. Norman Dale, Mark Daryl, and Wayne Jeff. They relocated to Pomona, California because drywall was booming there. In 1961 they moved back to Molalla to a 25 acre farm near Rural Dell. In 1971, after the kids all were grown they sold the farm and moved to 3 acres just south of Molalla off Warrick rd, where they lived until their passing.
Norman owned and operated Molalla Drywall from 1961 thru 1970. In 1975 Bob Avision hired him as a millwright when Avison started the new mill south of town. He worked for Avison until the early 80’s. Returning to drywall and continuing to hang drywall into his 70’s.
Norman was a charter member of Molalla Moose lodge. He served as jr Govenor, governor, past governor, was a legion member and served as administrator.

Doris Eileen Pence - September 27, 1943 - September 04, 2023

Departed: 09/04/2023 (Molalla)
Obituary Preview: Doris “Dori” Eileen (Dunton) Pence Date of birth - September 27, 1943 Date of death - September 4, 2023
Doris Eileen Pence was just shy of her 80th birthday when she passed. She was born in Oregon City, Oregon September 27, 1943 to John and Marjorie Dunton. She joined three-year old brother Larry and was followed by siblings Joan (1946), John Jr., (1949) and Sandra (1956).
They grew up on a 27-acre farm at Liberal where they were largely a self-sufficient household. They had a large vegetable garden, a large orchard of cherries, apples, pears, walnuts and hazelnuts trees, and raised pigs, cattle, milk cows and chickens. Dori learned to work in her grandfather’s and mother’s berry fields in the Eldorado area of Mulino, then in the bean fields of neighbors. Her first “out of the field” job was as a fry cook at a restaurant that is now called Alan’s Big Burger.
Dori attended Molalla schools graduating with the class of 1961. She was active in Service Club and Yearbook, earning outstanding awards in both clubs her senior year. She was a member of Future Teachers of America, and in the concert choir where she also was the piano accompanist.
After graduation Dori attended Monmouth College. She met her future husband, David Hauptman, the summer of her high school junior year and was married in June after one year of college. In September of that year, they were in a devastating car accident and David suffered irreparable brain damage. His post graduate year at OSU as a chemical engineer evaporated and Dori took a job with American Yearbook Company in Corvallis where they had made their home. She also became full-time caregiver for David. Sister Joan lived with Dori and David winter/spring term of her freshman year at OSU to watch David while Dori worked, and Dori watched him when Joan had classes.
After spring term, Dori and Dave moved back to Molalla. Dori worked as a part-time USPS mail carrier. David and Dori divorced at which time she returned to school and got her realtor’s license where she excelled with Dunton Realty. It was here that she met Donald Pence, whom she married in March 1976.
Dori found her dream job working with LaReta Chow at Molalla Travel. She not only booked all kinds of travel arrangements to places worldwide, but she also planned group excursions to standard and exotic locations. She and Don were the traveling guides/hosts for 20 to 30 individuals each trip acting as mother hens for the group. Dori also enlisted and took advantage of knowledgably local guides from the countries they visited to explain unique sites, history, foods, and culture. Dori purchased the travel agency business on LaReta’s retirement and continued until she suffered a stroke in 2005 which left her with aphasia and prevented her from continuing to work in the travel industry.
Although Dori didn’t have children of her own, she was the best babysitter to her nieces and nephews! She always had fun and interesting things for them to do! She loved playing pinochle, cribbage, canasta, almost any card game. She loved keeping in touch with friends and family and never missed sending cards for every special occasion. For many years she played the piano and organ for Liberal Community Church and then the Molalla Nazarene Church.
Dori was predeceased by her parents, John and Marjorie Dunton, ex-husband David Hauptman, husband Donald Pence, sister-in-laws Carole Dunton, Cathy Dunton, and great nephew William Everest Deardorff. Dori is survived by brothers Larry and John Dunton, sisters Joan Dunton Deardorff (Gary) and Sandra Dunton Metcalf (Jeff); step daughter Shirley Pence McCleary (Doug), step grandchildren Don Sanchez (Amber), Peter, Heather Kendoll (Eric), Gretchen Gamel (Darryl), Rachael; Brother in law Alan Pence (Dawn); nephews Mike Dunton (Denise), Eric Deardorff (Alyssa) and Kevin Deardorff (Tricia), Jason Dunton (Tammy) and Joshua Dunton; nieces Deb Dunton Sang (Charles) Julie Deardorff Gilkison (Dan), Leah Dunton Greenstein (Joe); Great nieces Sara Buss (Ryan), Emily Berens (Adam), Hannah Chau (Sky), Ashlee Sang (Ousmane), Anna Rose Deardorff, Lauren Gilkison, Aleeza and Talia Greenstein, Avery Deardorff; Great nephews John Dunton (Krista), Kyle and Ryan Gilkison, Evan Deardorff, Jaiden Dunton; many great great nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service is being planned for burial in Willamette National Cemetery. The family suggests donations in lieu of flowers be made in Dori’s name to The Molalla Alumni Scholarship Fund or the Molalla Church of the Nazarene.

David Harold Wallace - September 07, 1949 - August 06, 2023

Departed: 08/06/2023 (Molalla)
Obituary Preview: David Harold Wallace was born September 7, 1949, to Harold Burr Wallace and Ruth Anna Holmes Wallace. When his father tragically died when David was only ten, David and his brother Jim rose to the occasion and became father figures to their three younger brothers and infant sister.
At age 20, David joined the Marine Corps to serve his country during the Vietnam War. He later joined the Army, then worked for the National Security Agency, and retired in 2015 after working for the State of Oregon for 20 years. He loved his God, his family, and his country.
David met the love of his life, Patricia Ann Pittman, in the registration line for his senior year of college. They were engaged only six weeks later and married just two days after graduation in the spring. Dave and Patty celebrated their 50th anniversary on June 2, 2023.
David is survived by two brothers, a sister, his wife, six children, and ten grandchildren. Everyone that knew him knew his family was his pride. In the most challenging years of his life, he was known to come home from work and sing to his children. Being surrounded by his loved ones was his greatest joy.
David loved the Lord early in his life and is remembered by all for his unwavering conviction for Christ. His oldest friend (and sister-in-law) remembers him at 12, walking from class to class carrying his Bible. To his dying breath, he praised the Lord, raising his hands to worship music even after losing his ability to speak.
In Lieu of flowers, the Wallace family requests that you consider donating to Samaritan's Purse in Dave's honor.
