Matthew A. Barancik - September 14, 1934 - March 22, 2022

Departed: 03/22/2022 (Chesaning)
Obituary Preview: Barancik, Matthew A. – our loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend is now in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior. Matthew passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at the age of 87 after a courageous 8-month battle with cancer. Dad passed with the peace that Jesus wants us all to have.
Matthew was born on September 12, 1934, in Brant to the late Andrew and Anna Barancik. He married Mary (Azelton) in 1953, and they celebrated 60 amazing years together. She predeceased him in 2013. They loved going dancing and traveling. They were always together. It brings us great joy that he is finally with the love of his life again. Matthew raised 11 children and had many, many lifelong friends. Matthew was a hard worker, making sure his family had everything they needed, and we did. He was a Tool and Die maker at GM in Saginaw for 40 years, retiring in 1990. While raising his children, he worked on their cars and worked on things around the house. He could fix just about anything. He was always there to help work on his children’s homes in anyway they needed. He was a good cook and planted a huge garden every year. He loved spending time in his garden, where there was rarely a weed to be found. He donated 17 gallons of blood over his lifetime. He was a volunteer for many years at the KC fish fry’s and tootsie roll drives and church chicken dinners. Matthew was a member of the Burt Baptist Church where he also served as a Deacon. He had thee best sense of humor and always kept us laughing. Dad read his bible every single day always learning something new and loved sharing this with us with such excitement. This brought him more joy than anything.
Those left to sadly mourn him are: his 11 children: Victor (Karen) Barancik of Saginaw, Christine Tithof-Tullar of Saginaw, Daniel (Ivonne) Barancik of Texas, Timothy (Bev) Barancik of Montrose, Angela (Stan) Watkins of San Diego, Wendy (Todd) Meyers of Chesaning, Tracy (Nathan) Tithof of New Lothrop, Cheryl (Jim) Zervan, Richard Barancik, all of Chesaning, Lynn (Ted) Bashins of St Charles, Rodney Barancik of California, 21 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren; brothers: Andrew Barancik of Chesaning, Frank (Maryann) Barancik of AZ; a special nephew, Jim Burgess; sister-in-law, Joan Barancik; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his wife, Mary; grandsons, Brett Barancik and Ryan Spike; great grandson William Spike; sons-in-law Marty Ebenhoeh, Peter Tithof and Jim Tullar; 3 sisters, Rose Burgess, Marge Traverse and Irene Barancik; 2 brothers, Charles Barancik and Alexander Barancik; mother-in-law and father-in-law Louise and Dale Azelton.
We were beyond blessed to have a dad that knew there was nothing more important in life than our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Dad gave us the best gift any dad can give his children. He taught us as soon as we could kneel how to pray and to always thank Jesus for all of our blessings and in all ways to acknowledge Him. Well done, Dad. See you in Paradise.
Matthew's wishes of cremation has taken place. A time of sharing by the family and memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Misiuk Funeral Home in Chesaning. James L. Miller Sr. - August 26, 1936 - February 05, 2022

Departed: 02/05/2022 (Chesaning)
Obituary Preview: James L. Miller Sr. Chesaning, Michigan Jim L. Miller Sr. took his last breath Saturday, February 5, 2022 at home on the family farm where he was born and took his first breath on August 26, 1936. Jim had a blessed and adventurous life for 85 years. Jim married Suzanne Schultz on August 31, 1962, in a service conducted by her father, Reverend Hans A. Schultz, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chesaning. They celebrated 24 years of marriage before Suzanne’s death. Jim married Kay Hoff on November 7, 1987; they shared 16 years together before her death. Jim was a lifelong farmer and, up until the time when he could no longer take on his favorite tasks, he still enjoyed watching everything to do with the farm from working livestock to planting, harvesting and hunting those pesky deer that destroyed so much of the corn crop. Many of the younger neighbors and kids knew him as the “Apple Man” as he loved to care for his apple trees even from the seat of his power wheelchair and shared the apples with as many people as he could. Over several years, he enjoyed everything about helping to support kids in agriculture and during the annual FFA “membership sale” he purchased many kids to work eight hours baling hay and doing other farm chores. As a bidder for the former Community State Bank and local county fairs, Jim purchased countless animals from 4H and FFA members. Jim was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Chesaning FFA Alumni, Mid-Michigan Old Gas Tractor Association, and a past member of the Freeland Lions Club. He retired from Buick in Flint, MI and was a member of UAW 599. Some of his proudest accomplishments, besides his family, were when he and Sue were designated as Honorary Chapter Farmers by the Chesaning FFA in 1982, and when he was able to host the 2004 Miller Family Reunion at the farm to honor its new recognition as Centennial Farm. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling. He especially enjoyed trips to anywhere his daughters were living. He held close many memories with Stan McLaughlin who was his North Dakota Auction/tractor show friend. There were several other travels, including the Antigua West Indies, with his traveling companion, Margaret Heise. Those left to cherish his memory are his children and their spouses: HeidiJo (Jeff) Schultz of Bellevue NE, Katrina (Kent) Loewen of Langdon ND, James Jr. (Alysha) Miller of Chesaning MI; Grandchildren: Suzanne (Jesse) Dick of Council Bluffs IA, Jacob (Jessica) Devereaux of Rochester MI, Benjamin (Kelsey) Devereaux of Greenland NH, Wyatt Lanczynski, Morgan and Lane Miller of Chesaning; Stepchildren: Marc (Barbara) Hoff of Alma NY, Kim (Jim) Eggebrecht of Hemlock MI, Brian (MaryJo) Hoff of Saginaw MI; Grandchildren: Holly Ann Hoff, Kara Hoff, Brent Eggebrecht, Bethany Eggebrecht Nathan and John Hoff, Jordan and Brendan Hoff; Siblings: Sisters, Erma (Ken) Thomas of Bay City MI, Eleanor (Bob) Parrott of Luzerne MI; Sister-in-law, Gerri (Leonard) Miller; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Vern (“Bun”) and Rose (Heise) Miller, Jim was predeceased in death by his brothers, Roy Miller and Leonard Miller, stepson, Kenneth Hoff, and several in-laws. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 11, 2022, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 133 Commercial Street, Chesaning. Pastor Paul Tessmer will officiate. Burial will follow at Wildwood Cemetery. Visitation on Thursday will be from 2-8 p.m. at Misiuk Funeral Home in Chesaning and then at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral service.
