Perry (Bo) Laney Mungo - May 01, 1937 - April 24, 2022

Mr. Perry (Bo) Laney Mungo entered into rest Sunday, April 24, 2022.   He was the son of the late Perry F. and Lois Funderburk Mungo. Bo was a faithful member of the Friendship Sunday School Class at Pageland First Baptist Church.  The second generation of the family construction company, P.F. & Perry L. Mungo, Inc., Bo’s influence can be seen in residential, commercial and instructional structures throughout South and North Carolina and Georgia. Bo took great pride passing his trade to his sons, the third generation of Mungo builders.
A multi-sport athlete at Pageland High School, Bo loved baseball most.  His high school football career was highlighted by selection to play in the 1954 Annual Pee Dee Tobacco Bowl Gridiron Classic in Florence, SC.  Bo attended NC State, studying engineering.  Bo’s most coveted prize came when he won the heart of the beautiful brown-eyed 1961 “Miss Pageland Tiger”, Frances Hinson.  Together, Frances and Bo grew the construction company, while growing their family.  Their three children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were their pride and joy.
In addition to being a devoted husband, father and “Papa Bo”, Bo was an avid golfer, sinking his first hole-in-one in 1974 at White Plains Country Club. Bo enjoyed the golf, but loved the shenanigans of his golfing buddies.  “Breakfast Club” with close friends and Friday nights at “The Barn” with family and friends were Bo’s favorites.
In addition to his parents, Bo was also preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Frances Hinson Mungo, son, Stanley Laney Mungo, sisters Mary Funderburk and Judy Mills.  Survivors include son, Gregory Neil Mungo and wife, Robin of Pageland, SC; daughter, Alishia Mungo Branham and husband, Paul of Camden, SC; Grandchildren, Sophia Alley (Trey), Laney Mungo (Trey), Will Mungo (Kelly), Sam Mungo, Steven Branham, Nathan Branham (Ann Marie), Reed Branham (Ashleigh), and Mary Branham (Corey); great grandchildren Presley Alley, Madelyn Alexander, Kingsleigh Branham, Greer Branham and Owen Paul Branham; sisters, Elaine Hendrix (Danny), and Theda Lynn; and special nephew, Steve Jackson (Kathy).
A Graveside Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at 11:00 am in the Pageland First Baptist Church cemetery with Dr. Joel Dale and Brent Taylor officiating. The interment will follow in the church cemetery. The service will be streamed live on the Miller Rivers Caulder Funeral Home Facebook page. The family will greet friends in the Church Fellowship Hall following the Service. Memorials can be made to the charity or church of one’s choice.

Karen Holland Short - January 14, 1952 - April 23, 2022

Mrs. Karen Holland Short, age 70, entered into rest on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at her home. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, April 28, 2022 from the chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by her beloved sister, Liza Holland Simpson with burial to follow in the Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.
Mrs. Short was born January 14, 1952 a daughter of the late Ephraim and Mary Lou Fortenberry Holland. She was a U.S. Airforce veteran, having achieved the rank of sergeant. Karen was an employee of Morehead Title Company. She enjoyed all genres of music and was a very talented cook.
In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by the love of her life, Benny Clifton Freeman.
Survivors include sisters, Liza Holland Simpson of Hickory, NC, and Frances Brooks of Conover, NC; nieces, Amber Batey, and Makenzie Simpson; and nephew, Wesley Brooks.

A visitation for family and friends will be 2:00-4:00 PM, on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at the home of Carla Blackwelder,  726 Tory Rd. Pageland, SC 29728.  The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
Ms. Rollins was born February 6, 1964 in Ruby, SC a daughter of the late Carl “Slim”  and Minnie “Tish” Lucretia Rollins. Angela enjoyed cooking, spending time with friends and family. Her favorite place to visit was the beach.
Survivors include her son, John Carl Lynn of Pageland, SC; sister, April Carla Blackwelder of Pageland, SC; and nephew, Sam Blackwelder of Columbia, SC.
The family would like to send a special thanks to Cindy Fender, Myra Johnson, and Chesterfield County Hospice Care for their love and care.

Obituary Preview: Mount Croghan, SC Mrs. Peggy Moser Williams, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2022. Mrs. Williams was born April 9, 1952 in Monroe, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late James Franklin Moser and Barbara Tyre Moser. She is survived by her husband, James “Ed” Williams, her daughters; Lisa (Steve) Blair and Nichole (Adam) King, five grandchildren, Abigail & Shelby Blair, Ashley & Katie Shabo, and Corey King. She is also survived by her sister, Karen (Jim) Presson. Peggy was extremely fortunate to be cared for by her longtime friends and caregivers, Dale Gray, Charlie Gray, Gale Griggs and their families. She was blessed to be cared for by her daughter Lisa in the early stages of her disease. A special recognition goes to Kristen Sellers of Regency Hospice as her “Angel” nurse during her final days. Peggy retired from employment on Bald Head Island, North Carolina to support a family business and her husband’s endeavors. Peggy worked on Bald Head Island for several years and loved the daily ferry commute. Peggy was an avid PRO-LIFE advocate and volunteered at BirthRight in St. Joseph, Michigan. Peggy provided love and support to women facing unplanned pregnancies. Peggy’s love of the outdoors and the ocean led to her passion of walking. During her later years, she became obsessed with walking and would frequently walk from early morning until sundown. She logged thousands of miles. Peggy was a devout Christian and one of her most memorable times was her Walk to Emmaus with her sister Karen. She was truly an angel on earth and to know her was to love her. Peggy’s kindness and generosity was felt by all that came in contact with her. Her greatest love was to be a kind and caring “Yaya” for her grandchildren. She was the perfect grandmother and poured all her love into her family until dementia took its toll on this beautiful lady. No flowers please. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Rev. Keziah was born November 27, 1956 in Union County, NC a son of the late Eugene and Pauline Mills Keziah. He was formerly employed with ATI and was a Reverend student of God’s word. A member of Southside Ministries in Pageland, Bro. Melvin loved doing the Lord’s work and seeing other people give their life to the Lord. Rev. Keziah enjoyed taking out his pontoon boat, catfishing, camping, and riding his Harley. His grandchildren and family were his greatest loves and he enjoyed cooking for his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Rev. Keziah was also preceded in death by his brother, Warren "Baby" Keziah.
Survivors include his loving wife, Sunny Gail Keziah of the home; children, Chrystal (Danny) McManus, Angie Keziah, and Keith Keziah all of Pageland, SC; daughters of the heart, Kailey (Corey) Keziah of Pageland, SC and Tina (Jevin) Whitaker of Mt. Ms. Riley was born March 31, 1957 in Bennettsville, SC to Lucille Griggs Riley and the late Charles James Riley, Jr. Deborah enjoyed coloring, word puzzles, and a glass of Pepsi. Debbie was known for her infectious smile that could brighten anyone’s day.
In addition to her father, Ms. Riley was also preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Rev. CJ Riley, Sr.; paternal grandmother, Maggie Riley; maternal grandmother, Mary Davis; and maternal grandfather, Howard Davis.

Steen age 78 of Hartsville, SC entered her heavenly home April 18, 2022.  Services of Remembrance will be 2:00pm Wednesday at Emmanuel Baptist Church.  Pastor Paul Coward will officiate, directed by Norton Funeral Home.  Burial will be in the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery in Chesterfield, SC.  Visitation will be held Tuesday 5:30-7:30pm at Norton Funeral Home.
She was born on September 19, 1943 in Chesterfield, SC the daughter of  the late Robert Paul Sellers, Jr. and Lillie Frances Sellers.  She grew up attending Hopewell Baptist Church and graduated from Chesterfield High School in 1961 and from Cosmetology School in 1964.
She married the love of her life Glynn D. Steen in 1965 and made their home in Hartsville, SC.  She worked for Hartsville Manufacturing and the Hartsville Messenger.  In 1972 she became a stay at home mom when her pride and joy was born.  She was a loving mother and grandmother.  She enjoyed listening to gospel music, watching baseball, basketball and nascar.  She enjoyed spending time with her only granddaughter shopping.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving son and daughter in law, Michael G. Steen and Ryan W. Steen; her granddaughter, Abigail N. Steen, whom she loved beyond all measure; brothers, Robert Paul Sellers, III, Donald R. (Barbara) Sellers; sister in law, Nannie Lou Sellers, all of Chesterfield; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband Glynn, her parents, brother, Edward Sellers, sister in law, Linda Sellers and a nephew Stephen Sellers.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson was also preceded in death by his daughter, Wendy Elaine Johnson; brother, Raymond “Red” Johnson; sister, Shirley Steen; sisters-in-law, Eunice Johnson, and Celia Johnson.

Benjamin entered this world as an angel from God at 3:40 AM on Sunday, April 10, 2022, the beautiful son of Charles Benjamin Tillman & Brittany Jones Tillman. Although his time on earth spanned only 4 days, his incredible legacy of love and strength will be enduring. His mom and dad are grateful for the precious time they had with their angel as they witnessed his strength and resolve as his precious life touched everyone they know.

Graveside services will be 3:00 PM Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Oakland Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Charlie Short. The family will greet friends after the service at the cemetery and other times at the home of Marcia & Jody Rhyne.
Ms. Raffaldt was born February 21, 1949 in Chesterfield, SC a daughter of Mary Brock Turner and the late Robert “Coleman” Turner. She was a 1967 graduate of Chesterfield High School and earned her CPH2 degree as a Pharmacy Tech. She was a retired employee of Chesterfield Drug Company with 14 years of service, and was formerly employed with Kimbrell’s Furniture as Credit Manager for 7 years, and Carolina Bank as a teller for 11 years. Liz enjoyed photography, visiting Myrtle Beach, and was an avid reader. A faithful member of White Oak Presbyterian Church, she enjoyed singing in the choir and serving as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a former member of Oakland Baptist Church.
In addition to her father, Ms. Raffaldt was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Gary Edward Oliver; brother, Rev. Robert Turner; sister-in-law, Brenda Turner; brother-in-law, William "Bill" Parker; and niece, Allison Elizabeth Sowell.
Survivors include her daughters, Patty R. Sanders and husband, Dean; and Marcia L. Rhyne and husband, Jody, both of Chesterfield, SC; grandchildren, Ashley Oliver, Gabe Oliver, Hunter Gainey, Deklan Woodell, Garyn Woodell, Grayce Rhyne, and Gabi Rhyne; mother, Mary B. Turner of Chesterfield, SC; sisters, Bonnie Parker of Hartsville, SC, Janice (Randy) Sowell of Chesterfield, SC, and Karen (Scott) Brock of Pageland, SC; special friend, Larry Watson of Cheraw, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family is grateful for the excellent care Ms. Liz received from her special caregivers at the Rehab Center of Cheraw; the staff of McLeod Hospital and McLeod Hospice House. Mr. Turnage was born August 9, 1947 in Chesterfield, SC the son of the late Wade Timothy and Newell Graves Turnage. He worked as a millwright and retired from Aberdeen Fabrics. Ronnie enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and hunting. He was a true family man and enjoyed spending time with them.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Turnage was also preceded in death by his siblings, Patsy Turnage, Jane Wallace, Sharon Garris, Sara Arant, Judy Suggs, Wayne Turnage, Denise Conrad, and Karen Melton.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years, Gertrude G. Turnage of the home; children, Rene Wallace and her husband, Paul Wallace, IV, Bryan Turnage and his wife, Lisa Turnage of Summerfield, NC; grandchildren, Landon Turnage, Brett Wallace, and Reagan Wallace; great grandchildren, Ava Turnage, and Karson Turnage; sister, Linda (Robert) Davis of Chesterfield, SC; brothers, Steve (Sandra) Turnage of Cheraw, SC, and Joe (Kathy) Turnage of Pageland, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary Lou "Mrs. Lou" Hancock - February 06, 1933 - April 12, 2022

Mrs. Mary Lou Phillips Hancock went home to be with the Lord on April 12, 2022. She was born in San Diego, California, February 6, 1933, where her dad, Ray Vaughn Phillips, a career Navy man was stationed.
They moved quite often as he was transferred from one duty station to another. When her father retired, they settled in Chesterfield, South Carolina, her mother’s (Sara Bell Redfearn Phillips) hometown. There “Mrs. Lou” (as she was known) was surrounded by a large and loving family. She graduated from Chesterfield High School and went on to Coker College where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1955 with a BA in Elementary Education. She had a wonderful college experience being selected as the student body president her senior year.
The summer after graduation, she married the love of her life, Thomas W. Hancock, Jr. Tom joined the Marine Corp and she moved quite a lot. In fact, in 20 years in the Corps, they lived in 21 houses.
They were blessed with three wonderful children Steve, Jim (Polly) and Ann and four outstanding grandchildren Cassie, Cade, Emma, and Hope.
Mrs. Lou enjoyed a long and happy life. She had many special friends with whom she enjoyed spending time. She taught school in Cheraw, South Carolina, when Tom was overseas and again at Camp Lejeune when Tom was stationed there. She was active in the Marine Corps Officer’s Wives’ Club, organizing trips and tours to the White House and Marine Corps Headquarters in Washington, D.C.
When Tom retired, they bought the Western Auto in Elizabethtown, North Carolina, and settled there. She lived there, in the same house, longer that any other in her life. She and Tom had a special 57-year marriage. He loved sports and coaching and she spent many happy hours watching him play and coach. All three children played sports and she enjoyed following their games and careers.
Mrs. Lou loved her church and was an active member of Wesley’s Chapel Church for many years. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who loved her.
A service will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at 2 pm at Wesley’s Chapel Church, 2409 Peanut Plant Rd, Elizabethtown, NC 28337. Visitation will follow the service in the Multipurpose Building from 3-4 pm.

Beverly was a member of White Plains Baptist Church and enjoyed attending Rocky Creek Presbyterian Church. A lady with a larger-than-life personality, she was known for her outgoing personality and contagious trademark laugh! Beverly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, sharing her latest fashion accessories. She also enjoyed spending time in her rocking chair as she talked with friends, going out to eat, and shopping. Beverly had her own preference of music and it had to be “upbeat.”
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Guyton was also preceded in death by her step-father, Cletus Kirkley.
Survivors include her son, Derrick (Jennifer) Guyton of Camden, SC; grandchildren, Destiny, Madison, Katelyn, Alby, and Adeline; sister, Diane Sistare of Charlotte, NC; numerous friends that were family to her including, John & Joyce Balthrop, Jean & Jackie Campbell, and Ronnie & Rhonda Welch.

Mrs. Thalia Sings Sellers passed away on April 5, 2022 at McLeod Health Cheraw. She retired from Burlington – Highland with over 30 plus years of service. Before her illness she enjoyed flowers, watching the birds and her favorite tv shows; Family Feud, The Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune, and Larry’s Country Diner. On Sundays she enjoyed watching church services, as she was not able to attend church.
Mrs. Sellers was kind, humble, and would help anyone if she could; no matter how people treated her.  She said you treat people the way you would want to be treated, because you reap what you sow. She taught us to be selfless, not selfish, with her heart of gold. So, thank you mom for giving me the things money cannot buy.
Mrs. Sellers was preceded in death by her parents, James Maurice and Nezzie Virginia Lee Sings; husband, William Dwight Sellers; son, Doyle Keith Sellers; and brother, James Maynard Sings.
Survivors include her daughter: Aimee Sellers of Ruby, SC; daughter of the heart: Tina Ginnetto of Hamlet, NC; grandchildren of the heart: Miranda Ginnetto of Hamlet, NC, Vinny Ginnetto of Hamlet, NC, Matthew (Dawn) Malzer of Rockingham, NC and Elyse (Adam) Malzer of Laurinburg, NC; sister-in-law; Mary Evelyn Sings of Cheraw, SC; good friend, Tenita C. Sellers of Chesterfield, SC; brother-in-law: Jerry W. Sellers of Chesterfield, SC; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
I would like to thank Tenita, Tina, Aunt Evelyn, and my late Uncle Maynard for all their help through the years. Although Uncle Maynard is no longer with us, I know if we were still here, he would have been right by her side and done anything her could for his sister.

Affectionately known as Mrs. Betty to all who knew her. Mrs. Betty enjoyed gardening, working in her flowers, and was an avid Clemson fan. She also enjoyed watching basketball and football.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Betty was also preceded in death by her husband, Lacy Leward “Creek” Davis.

Mrs. Gilbert was born September 28, 1947 in Chesterfield, SC, a daughter of the late Paul Edward and Patricia Douglas Snipes. She was a graduate of Chesterfield High School. Following graduation, she assisted her mother in caring for countless children at the Chesterfield Daycare Center. After her marriage to John Gilbert, she moved to Charlotte, NC where Patsy was employed with Charlotte Memorial Hospital. They later moved to Flagstaff, AZ, before returning home to Chesterfield, SC to be closer to family. Patsy was a lifelong member of Douglas Mill Baptist Church. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed several years serving ice cream to the children of the Chesterfield and Cheraw area from her ice cream truck, and was lovingly known as “the ice cream lady.”
In addition to her parents, Patsy was also preceded in death by her husband, John Gilbert, and brother-in-law, Donald Baker.
Survivors include her daughter: Tamara (Paul) Barefoot of Patrick, SC; son: Phillip (Wendy) Gilbert of North Myrtle Beach, SC; 3 sisters: Becky (Gene) Marsh, Cathy Baker (Jimmy Sellers), and Alice (Ricky) Todd all of Chesterfield, SC; 3 grandchildren: Savannah Barefoot, Sierra Barefoot, and Dylan Oliver; and nieces and nephews: Daniel (Erin) Marsh, Rachel (Shawn) Cheema, Richard (Susan) Todd, Bridget (Charlie) Hubbell, Sarah (Brandon) Downer, and Adrienne (Kedar) Brown.
