Obituary Preview: Betty Sue Rainwater Holmes, age 82, of Orlinda, TN went to be with her Lord on Sunday, August 30, 2020 at TriStar Skyline Medical Center.
Mrs. Holmes was born May 6, 1938 in Orlinda, TN to the late Grady Proctor Rainwater and Laura Louise Cherry Rainwater. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two younger sisters, Mary Louise Rainwater and Judy Carolyn Rainwater, and a brother, Alton Ray Rainwater and wife, Annette.
Mrs. Holmes is survived by her husband of 64 years, James Albert Holmes; one son, Dr. James Christopher Holmes and wife, Beth; one grandson, Henry Christopher Holmes, all of Owensboro, KY. She is also survived by one brother, Donald Rainwater and wife, Tommie, of Warner Robins, GA; and one sister, Linda R. Watts and husband, Charles, of Springfield, TN, as well as several nieces and nephews and their families, a special friend, Ms. Jean Wilks, plus many cousins and other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Holmes was a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for over sixty years. She served in many capacities, including Sunday School teacher, secretary, G.A. leader, and VBS worker.
Mrs. Holmes worked as a bookkeeper, clerical worker, bank cashier, church secretary, and a legal secretary. She enjoyed music, sewing, keeping house, spending special times with Chris in his younger days, reading and visiting with friends, especially at the Byrum Porter Senior Center.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 2, 2020 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Milldale Chapel in Milldale, TN and on Thursday, September 3, 2020 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Orlinda, TN. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 11, 2020 at 12:00 PM at Orlinda Baptist Church with Pastor Lance Wamble and Dr. Chris Holmes officiating. Burial will follow in Orlinda Cemetery with Bill Adams, Jonathan Adams, Justin Blancett, J.C. Lyons, Jay Summers, and Jim Summers serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Friday at Milldale Chapel from 4 until 8 PM and Saturday at Orlinda Baptist Church from 10 AM until the hour of service.
Mr. Summers was born February 9, 1940 in Robertson County to the late James Claude and Lena Lee Stark Summers. He was a member of Orlinda Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon, and was retired from Western Express. He enjoyed going to the Byrum Porter Senior Center and the breakfast club at the Orlinda General Store. He also enjoyed golfing and was an avid Vanderbilt fan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Groves Summers, and a brother, J.C. Summers.
He is survived by his daughters, Rhonda (Bill) Adams of Murfreesboro, Yvonne Summers of Mt. Juliet, Yvette Lyons of Old Hickory, and Beth (Chris) Holmes of Owensboro, KY; sisters, Ann (Allen) Spears of Land O’ Lakes, FL, Bettye McMurtry of Greenbrier, and Patsy (Noel) Nauman of Coon Rapids, MN; grandchildren, Jonathan (Whitney) Adams, Katie (Justin) Blancett, Kyle (Krystina) Summers, Bailey Zimmerle, Karlee Lyons, J.C. Lyons, and Henry Holmes; and great grandchildren, Jackson and Mason Adams and John Paul and Ethan Blancett.
The family requests, if so desired, for memorial contributions to be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the Sarah Cannon Cancer Center. All donations can be sent c/o Robertson County Funeral Home.

Mr. Satterfield was born October 3, 1954 in Springfield to the late Horace T. and Margie Yates Satterfield. He was a member of Cross Plains United Methodist Church and was retired from the Robertson County Highway Department.
He is survived by his son, Ryan Thomas Douglas of Springfield; and grandchildren, Jeremy Douglas and Aden Scruggs.

Obituary Preview: Rebecca Austin Durham, age 90 of Orlinda, passed away on June 17, 2019 at NHC Healthcare in Springfield. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, June 24, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Milldale Chapel with Dr. David Jicka and Karl Covington officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Randy Whitley, Kenny Whitley, Peter Gallagher, Joel Arnold, T.C. Groves, Jimmy Hale, and Sammy Cook serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Scharklett, Pete Denning, and James Albert Holmes. The family will receive friends at the Milldale Chapel Monday from 10 AM until the hour of service.
Rebecca was born February 17, 1929 in Orlinda to the late Eugene and Rachel Powell Reid. She graduated top in her class of 1946 at Orlinda High School. She married her childhood sweetheart, Earl Austin, Jr. in 1946. Earl and Rebecca farmed but also owned a grocery store in the Pleasant Hill Community which Rebecca ran while Earl farmed. They were blessed with a son, Tony Wayne Austin in 1947.
Later Rebecca went to work for the state of Tennessee, working her way up to assistant to the Director of Personnel. She retired from the state in 1990. While working for the state, she attended UT Nashville. She graduated with a BS in Business Management from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville in 1980, receiving her degree at the ceremony held at Stokley Athletic Center.
After the passing of Earl, Jr. Rebecca married Obie Durham. Mr. Durham owned his own trucking business and Rebecca began to travel with him. Not being someone who just sat on the sidelines, Rebecca got her CDL License and began to help Obie with the driving.
Rebecca was the director of the Orlinda Senior Center. She was pro active in writing grants and securing funds which eventually led to the building of the Byrum-Porter Senior Center. She retired from there and was honored this past year at the 25th Anniversary of the center for all the work she had done. During these years she was elected and served as a member of the Orlinda City Council.
Rebecca was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and Orlinda Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Earl Austin, Jr. and Obie Durham; a sister, Pauline Whitley; and an infant granddaughter.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Marilyn Austin of Orlinda; grandson, Joe Earl “Joey” Austin of Orlinda; granddaughter and husband, Rebecca E. “Beth” and Daniel Moore of Cross Plains; great granddaughter, Aria Jane Moore of Cross Plains; step daughters and husbands, Amy and Ricky Stark of Orlinda, Kathy and Kim North of the Philippines, and Paula and Mike Wooten of Portland; sisters, Jean Whitley of Russellville, KY, Roberta Arnold of Portland, Patsy Covington of Springfield, and Joan Gallagher of Cedar Hill; several step grandchildren and great grandchildren; and her beloved four footed baby, Honey.
The family request, if so desired, for memorial contributions to be made to the Pleasant Hill Cemetery Fund or the Byrum-Porter Senior Center. All donations can be sent c/o Robertson County Funeral Home.

Mr. Norris was born November 28, 1948 in Burkesville, KY to the late Stanley and Odell Ballard Norris. He was a carpenter and as his family says, a jack of all trades. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and taking care of his kids and grandkids. He got a lot of pleasure from aggravating his sons-in-law. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Larry Junior Norris II.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Norris of Springfield; daughters and sons-in-law, Anna and David Smith of Madison, Marcy and Timothy Prochaska of Portland, and Luann and Andy Rose of Springfield; grandchildren, Vincent Huff, Adam Smith, Larry Ty Norris, Logan Smith, Natasha Parks, Joseph Parks, Jonathan Rose, and Ethan Rose; great grandchild Heath Alan Parks; and several brothers and sisters. Mrs. Jernigan was born September 7, 1930 in Robertson County to the late Lemuel Bell and Wilmyr Randolph Henry. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Madisonville and was a school teacher and a homemaker. She enjoyed doing needlepoint and gardening. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. William Raymond Jernigan, Sr. and by her brother, Phil D. Henry.
She is survived by her sons, William Raymond Jernigan, Jr. and wife, Penelope, of Kalamazoo, MI, Mark Randolph Jernigan and wife, Laura, of Orlinda, TN , and Henry Bernard Jernigan, and wife, Elizabeth, of Youngville, NC; sister-in-law, Donna H.
