Obituary Preview: Kimberly J. ‘Kim’ (Phipps) Hendrix, age 61 passed away peacefully on Monday morning, April 25, 2022. She was a resident of Bloomington.
Kim was born September 27, 1960 in Bloomington. She was a loving homemaker, mother, grandmother and sister.
Kim loved to spend time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed visiting Cascades Park in Bloomington and hanging out with her daughter, Brandy and sister, Deborah, who was her partners in crime and best friends. Kim enjoyed yard sales, and watching the Lifetime and Hallmark Channels on television.
She is survived by her children, Michele (Christopher) Ratzburg of Nashville, Brandy Burkhart and Harry Fluharty Jr., both of Bloomington; siblings, Deborah Phipps and Dave Phipps, both of Bloomington; and eleven grandchildren.
Kim was preceded in death by her mother, Doris J. (Salyers) Mackey; brother, Jeff Phipps; and a granddaughter, Brittany Lee Ratzburg.
In keeping with Kim’s wishes, she will be cremated and a Celebration of her Life will be held at a later date. Cremation services have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.

Virginia "Ginny" E. Langley Knieper - February 27, 1938 - April 21, 2022

Obituary Preview: Virginia E. “Ginny” (Wright) Langley Knieper, age 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at IU Health Methodist Hospital, following injuries from an automobile accident.  She was a 30 year resident of Brown County.
Ginny was born on February 27, 1938, in Indianapolis, to her parents the late Paul W. and Gladys P. (Warrenfelt) Wright. She was a 1956 graduate of Howe High School in Indianapolis and married her high school sweetheart, James “Jim” Langley. Together they started a family and were blessed with four children, Brian, Debbie, Cindy and Annette. Jim preceded her in death all too soon in 1968. Ginny later married William J. Knieper in 1973 in Indianapolis and spent 34 loving years of marriage together before his passing in 2008.
Ginny worked in the customer service department for Peoples Bank in Indianapolis for 17 years. She was a former Bluebird Girl Leader and Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority member in Indianapolis. She was also a member of the Brown County Garden Club and the Spinners & Weavers Guild. Ginny was a strong and faithful believer and attended Brown County Community Church, Goshen Community Church and was a previous 20 year member of Cottonwood Christian Church and St Luke's Methodist Church in Indianapolis.
In her free time, Ginny enjoyed knitting, playing euchre and cheering for the Purdue Men’s basketball team. She also enjoyed watching bull riding, horse shows and rodeos. Ginny spent time weaving rugs and placemats on her loom and collected Native American baskets and rugs. She will be remembered most for her love of animals, love of family and her unyielding faith in God.
She will be missed by her children: Brian (Patty) Langley of Bloomington, Debra “Debbie” (Dave) Price of Indianapolis, Cynthia “Cindy” Langley of Franklin, Georgia and Annette Langley of Jackson, Wyoming; grandchildren, Emily Price and Mitchell Price as well as several nieces and nephews including Ryan and Lois Ann.
Ginny was preceded in death by her parents, first husband and father of her children, Jim Langley, second husband William Knieper; siblings, Mary Wade, Kathleen Hoffman, Walter, Howard, James and Joseph Wright.

Donald E. Smith - December 10, 1931 - April 20, 2022

Obituary Preview: Donald E. ‘Don’ Smith, age 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, April 20, 2022 at Traditions of Columbus.  He was a resident of Nashville and former resident of Whiteland.
Don was born December 10, 1931 in Nashville to his parents, the late Donald Arthur and Dolly “Monzell” (Hoover) Smith. He was a 1951 graduate of Nashville High School and went on to serve as a Corporal with the United States Army during the Korean War. Don retired as a Supervisor of the maintenance department with the Indiana State Board of Health after 33 years of service.
Donald had a love of life and never stopped moving. He enjoyed farming with his father and referred to his homestead as “Smith Farms.” Don loved buying and working on antique farm tractors.  He held various positions on the Brown County Fair Board and belonged to the Brown County Antique Machinery Association. Don also attended the Gnaw Bone Wesleyan Church in Nashville. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He married Nancy (Dillingham) Smith on October 16, 2017 in Carrollton, Kentucky.  She lovingly survives. Don is also survived by his daughters, Donna (Steve) Rains of Cloverdale and Denise Hancock of Indianapolis; step-children: Mick David of Nashville, Rick David of Terre Haute and Kimberly (Michael) Moss of Nashville; grandchildren, Heather (Ross) Hazel, Sarah (Rory) Schaub, Zach (Sara) Hancock, Josh Hancock, Trevor David, Mallory Moss, Brennen Moss and Matt Stargell; great-grandchildren, Emma, Elon, Jaidlynn and Kaelum; siblings, Thelma Keller, Lee Smith, Floyd Smith and Treva Edwards.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Mary Joan (Percifield) Smith and siblings: Forest and Fred Smith, Wilma Wilson and Brenda East.
The Rev. Bob England will conduct a funeral service on Saturday at noon at the Gnaw Bone Wesleyan Church, 4928 Old State Road 46 in Nashville. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church. A private family inurnment will be at a later date at Greenlawn Cemetery. Samuel E. Smith - January 29, 1937 - April 03, 2022

Obituary Preview: Samuel E. Smith, age 85, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2022 at IU Health – Methodist in Indianapolis.  He was a resident of Columbus.
Samuel was born January 29, 1937 in Jackson County, to his parents, the late Edison M. and Jane (Worral) Smith. He was a graduate of Floyd Central High School in New Albany and went on to serve with the United States Army. Samuel retired in 1995 as a Supervisor from Cummins Engine Company in Columbus.
He enjoyed living in the country and roaming his 57 acres. Samuel was an avid horseback rider and taught his family and friends to be the same. He also enjoyed caring for many animals on his property, especially his dogs and chickens. Samuel was a fan of rodeos and enjoyed horseback riding on the Cross-Country Trail Ride in Eminence, Missouri for the past 40 years.
He was preceded in death on December 21, 2020 by his loving wife of 57 years, Shirley R. (Burgin) Smith, whom he married on November 30, 1963.
Samuel is survived by his children, Pamela (John Branham) Smith of Morgantown and Troy Smith of Columbus; and a grandson, Wyatt Branham of Morgantown.
In keeping with Samuel’s wishes, he will be cremated and a Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date. Cremation services have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.

Josh enjoyed barbecuing, hunting, fishing and returning home to relax at “Dad’s Cabin” with the love of his life, Aimee Hellweg.
Josh was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William “Bill” Dunn and Lila “Dean” (Ellison) Dunn. Also preceding him in death was his maternal grandmother, Sue Walker.
Josh is survived by his love, Aimee Hellweg, his dad, Billy Dunn, his mom, Karen Dunn and his maternal grandfather, Curtis Walker. He is also survived by sisters, Jessica Dunn of Trafalgar, Alisha (Drew) Eggers of Trafalgar, his brother, Ben (Jocelyn) Etter of Brown County, his best friend, Chris Hall of Trafalgar and his eight nieces and nephews.

Obituary Preview: Donna M. (Johnson) Gates, age 85 passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, March 29, 2022 at Altenheim Senior Living in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Indianapolis.
Donna was born January 26, 1937 in Black Hawk, South Dakota. She was a 1956 graduate of Hill City High School in South Dakota. Donna retired in 2009 from the Bookkeeping Department for Gradex Inc. in Carmel after 39 years of service.
She enjoyed traveling, going to the casino and playing Bingo. Donna was an avid reader and enjoyed working crossword puzzles. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Donna is survived by her daughter, Patricia Hall of Brown County; grandchildren, Cheyenne (Matt) Mappes of Brown County, Jedidiah (Sara) Hall of Mooresville and Mike Gates of Spencer; great grandchildren, Berkley and Easton Mappes, Layla, Rosie and Elias Hall, Makayla, Mica, Khole and Lucas Gates; and a daughter-in-law, Sue Gates of Indianapolis.
Donna was preceded in death by her son, Michael Gates; and a son in law, Jeffrey Hall.

Jackie "Jack" Lee Harden - October 14, 1934 - March 28, 2022

Obituary Preview: Jackie “Jack” Lee Harden, age 87 passed away peacefully on Monday morning March 28, 2022 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital. He was a resident of Brown County.
Jack was born October 14, 1934 in Brown County to his parents, the late Thurman and Martha “Avis” (McKinley) Harden. He was a 1952 graduate of Brown County High School and ran a construction company for several years. In 1972, Jack became the owner and operator of Brown County Stone Quarry and continued to work, alongside his family, until his passing.
Jack was a member of the Eagles Lodge #1085 in Bloomington. He enjoyed visiting with his grandkids, listening to country music and was a talented poet. He also enjoyed line dancing and was an instructor at Mike’s Dance Barn in Brown County for several years.  Faith was important to Jack and everyday he spent a great deal of time reading his Bible. Jack will be remembered most for his love of family and unyielding faith in God.
He will be missed by his children, Kevin (Staci) Harden, Julia Russell and Jack E. Harden all of Nashville; grandchildren, Lisa Marie (Kyle) Reynolds, Amanda (Idris Harris) Harden, Erin (Shane Hobbs) Harden, Tabitha Harden, Jessica (Chris DuPlaintis) Harden, James Russell and Jacquelyn “Gracie” (David) Hoffman; 6 great grandchildren and a sister, Mary Jane Terkhorn.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Brenda Harden; and siblings, William Harden, Dorval Schrougham, Avis Harden and Kenneth Harden.
Pastor Ken Smith will conduct a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 31st at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Arvil Burkhart Sr. - September 23, 1935 - March 20, 2022

Obituary Preview: Arvil ‘Hoot’ Burkhart Sr., age 86 passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at Community Hospital South, in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Martinsville and former resident of Brown County.
Arvil was born September 23, 1935, in Louellen, Kentucky to his parents Johnnie and Myrtle (Hammond) Burkhart. He proudly served his country with in the United States Marine Corp. during the Korean War. Arvil later married Mary K. Cornett on April 12, 1955 in Jellico, Tennessee and together they started a family.  She survives after 66 loving years of marriage.
Arvil retired in April 1992 from Tool and Die at General Motors in Indianapolis after 33 years of service. He enjoyed horseback riding, raising Arabian Horses as well as trail riding and camping with his friends. Arvil loved spending time in the outdoors by gardening, looking for mushrooms and hunting rabbit, raccoon and deer. He had a knack for catching moles, was a Trump supporter and will be remembered for his great storytelling. Most of all, Arvil loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren who call him Hooter and Pap. He will be missed by his wife Mary of Martinsville; children, Deborah Johnston, Donna Burkhart and Sonya (Lyle) Wilson all of Martinsville; siblings, Jake Burkhart, Helen (Ray) Hammons, Phyllis Alexander all of London, Kentucky; grandchildren, Chastini (Jason) Davis, Rickie (Shelley) Lucas Jr., Jeremy Lucas, Jessica Eldridge, Robert (Jill) Burkhart, Brett (Bobbi) Burkhart, Ashley (Rick) Eddelman, Blake (Whitney) Wilson and Brittany Collings; and 23 great-grandchildren
Arvil was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Burkhart; mother, Myrtle Stillings; children, Diana Lynn Burkhart and Arvil Burkhart Jr., and siblings, Johnnie Burkhart, Judy Johnson and Geraldine Reed.
Pastor James Brown will conduct a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 29th at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Ian Michael MacLeod - January 19, 1954 - March 16, 2022

Obituary Preview: Ian Michael MacLeod, age 68 of Riverview, Florida and formerly of Bloomington, Indiana, passed away peacefully on March 16th 2022 at St. Joseph’s Hospital South in Riverview, Florida after suffering from a massive heart attack.
Ian was born January 19, 1954 in Seymour to his parents John C. and Norma Jean (Ulery) MacLeod when his father was a reporter for the Seymour Tribune. Ian was a graduate of Bloomington South High School and decided to avoid college. He worked at various jobs around the United States and settled years later in Riverview, Florida. He suffered a brain aneurysm in 1998 and after months of physical and mental recovery, entered Hillsborough Community College where he received two associate degrees. He later graduated from the University of Tampa with a bachelor’s degree with honors in electronic media, arts and technology.
He is survived by his mother Norma Jean MacLeod of Brown County; wife, Anita MacLeod of Florida and best friend Derek Bryant of Denver Colorado.
Ian was preceded in death by his father John C. MacLeod and grandfather, Norman Vincent Ulery, who was the Brown County illustrator and modern painter.
Ian will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Cemetery in Nashville, and will be placed between his parents on Thursday, April 14th. A Remembrance of Ian may be held at a later date. Obituary Preview: Shana LaVerne (Rogers) Swabb, age 57 passed away all too soon Monday morning, March 14, 2022 at her mother’s home in Morgantown. She was a resident of Morgantown and former resident of Pennsylvania.
Shana was born October 4, 1964, in Monroe County to her parents Jewel and Mary Jane (Rodgers) Rogers. She was a1982 graduate from Bean Blossom Baptist School and later married James “Jim” Swabb in 1984. They began a life together and were blessed with three daughters. Jim preceded Shana in death on May 26, 2021 after 37 loving years of marriage.
Shana was an avid animal lover and enjoyed raising cats and chickens. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
She will be missed by her children, Kristy Swabb of Morgantown, Mary Swabb of Bloomington and Barbara Swabb of Indianapolis; mother, Mary Jane Richards of Morgantown; and siblings, Diane Rogers of Morgantown and Clover Phillips of Trevlac.
Shana was preceded in death by her father Jewel, and husband Jim.
A Graveside Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 2nd at Bear Creek Cemetery in Brown County. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home in Morgantown. Charles R. Thomas - August 21, 1938 - March 11, 2022

Obituary Preview: Charles R. “Charlie Bob” Thomas, age 83 passed away peacefully on Friday morning, March 11, 2022 at his home in Trafalgar.
Charlie was born August 21, 1938, in Bloomington to his parents the late Robert and Violet (Albright) Thomas. After high school, he went on to proudly serve his country as a Corporal with the United States Marine Corps. Charlie married Carol Ann Spencer on May 12, 1960 and together they started a life and were blessed with 8 children.
He will be missed by his children, Peggy (Michael Joe) Smith of Indianapolis, Debra (Steve) Pierle of Greenwood, Tim (Jennifer) Thomas, Marliena (Jim) Beswick and Amanda (Jimmy Collins) Bowling all of Trafalgar, Teresa Thomas of Nashville; a special brother-in-law whom he treated like a son, Michael Spencer of Mississippi. He will also be missed by his 32 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert & Violet Thomas; his wife of 55 years, Carol Ann; two sons, Charles Lester and Robert Eugene; brother Michael Thomas; sisters, JoAnn Shotts, Connie Thomas, Gloria Pope and Maria Cool and four great grandsons.
At the age of 16, Charlie was a self-taught carpenter and built houses for many years. He later worked for many years for Midwest Concrete from which he retired from at the age of 72.
Charlie was an avid old car collector and loved to restore cars, especially Packards. He also enjoyed collecting case knives and guns and loved going to the flea market, selling his whirly birds.
He loved listening to country music and was a self-taught guitar player. Most of all, he loved spending time with his children and all generations of grandkids.
A Graveside inurnment will he held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Goshen Cemetery in Brown County.  Military rites will be presented by the United States Marine Corp and the Brown County Honor Guard. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.

Obituary Preview: Joe Koch, 64, of Nashville, passed away on Monday March 7, 2022 at Bell Trace Living Center Bloomington. He was born April 17, 1957 in Indianapolis, IN.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ruby Koch, his parents Betty Brinkman and George Koch.
Joe was in construction, which was more than a job, it was a passion. He was a true craftsman and loved building homes for people. He owned his own company and worked for other construction companies throughout his career. Outside of work Joe was a caring person who never met a stranger. He was always the first to show up to help someone. He will be missed by his family, friends, and all who met him.
He is survived by sisters Marilynn Teel (Jerry), Darlene Linne, Anita Cox (Tom), Julie Booze (Bryan), brother Kevin Kendall (Amy), and several nieces & nephews.
The family would like to thank everyone at IU Health, Evergreen Village, and Bell Trace for the wonderful care they gave Joe.

Cecil E. Maness - March 17, 1941 - March 06, 2022

Obituary Preview: Cecil E. Maness, age 80, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday morning, March 6, 2022 at his home in Trafalgar.
Cecil was born March 17, 1941 in Lyman, Oklahoma to his parents, the late Marshall and Lola (Nulick) Maness. He was a 1960 graduate of Enid High School in Oklahoma and went on to proudly serve his country as a Private First Class with the United States Army during the Cold War.
Cecil was the owner and operator of Library Movers of America from 1984 until his retirement in 2010.  He enjoyed traveling with work and meeting different people along the way. Cecil also previously worked as the Tire Manager for Atwoods Ranch & Home in Oklahoma.
Cecil was a former member of the Jaycees and Rotary Club in Oklahoma. He was an avid golfer and held memberships at Tameka Woods, Timbergate and the Pointe at Lake Monroe. Cecil had a negative handicap, was a great scratch golfer and had made 15 hole in ones. His love of golf gave him the opportunity to play with Fuzzy Zeller and Gill Morgan. When Cecil wasn’t playing golf, he enjoyed watching westerns and cheering for the Indianapolis Colts.
Cecil will be missed by his loving wife of 31 years, Peggy J. (Voris) Maness, whom he married on February 14th 1991 at the Fairhaven Christian Church in Trafalgar. He will also be missed by his children: Michael Maness and Jason (Kari) Maness both of Blackwell, OK, Shannon (Eric) Erickson of Conroe, Texas, step-children: Mike (Suzanne Suter) Hodge of Trafalgar, Amanda (Robert) Ralph of Brunswick, GA, siblings: Rosemary Hamilton and M. Obituary Preview: Shirley J. (Mackey) Campbell, age 88 passed away Wednesday morning, March 2, 2022. She has called the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin her home for the past 19 years. Shirley was a former resident of Morgantown.
Shirley was born August 29, 1933 in East St. Louis, Illinois to her parents, the late Charles Mackey and Margaret (Sutton) Mackey-Harvey. She was a 1951 graduate of Center Grove High School. Shirley married James D. ‘Cash’ Campbell on October 13, 1951 in Providence. He preceded her in death on October 23, 2003 after fifty-two loving years of marriage. Shirley was also preceded in death by her brothers, Charles and Melvin Mackey.
She is survived by her children, Linda Jo Campbell of Indianapolis and John ‘Doug’ (Denise) Campbell of Brown County; grandchildren, Crystal Campbell of Brown County and Leslie (Jake) Wester of Columbus; and a great granddaughter, Adaline Wester of Columbus.
Shirley worked as a Bank Teller for Bargersville State Bank and later in El Paso, Texas during the 1950’s. She went on to own and operate Campbell’s Market in Providence during the 1960’s. She later worked alongside her husband, Jim, who was an Auctioneer and owned & operated Campbells Auctioneering and Campbell & Morris Equipment in Bargersville.
Shirley attended Cottonwood Christian Church in Brown County and the Mt. Zion Separate Baptist Church in Morgantown. She was a 70-year member of the Trafalgar Order of Eastern Star #466 and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Shirley was a former Girl Scout, Cub Scout and 4H Leader in Brown County. She   was a seeker of knowledge and was an avid reader of non-fiction. She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens and feeding & watching the birds.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Sunday, March 27th from 1-3 p.m. at the Franklin Parks & Rec. Center - Beeson Hall: 396 Branigin Blvd in Franklin. An Eastern Star Memorial Service will also be held during the gathering.  A graveside service was held on Tuesday, March 8th at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown. Obituary Preview: Harry R. Eck, age 63 passed away all too soon on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Brown County Health & Living Community in Nashville.  He was a resident of Brown County.
Harry was born August 24, 1958 in Beech Grove to his parents, the late Frank and Bessie (Thomas) Eck. He attended Brown County High School and went on to retire in 2009 from Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood where he worked as the Sexton for over 28 years.
Harry was a member of the Brown County Abate. He enjoyed riding his Harley and racing cars at the Brown County Dragway. Harry listened loudly to rock ‘n’ roll music and enjoyed listening to bands with family and friends at the Port Hole Inn at Lake Lemon. He was a fan of wrestling and the tv shows, MTV’s Ridiculousness and Counting Cars on the History Channel. Harry loved caring for his cat, Keke.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Charity A. (Simon) Eck, whom he married on August 25, 1979 in Brown County. Harry is also survived by his daughter, Jessica Eck of Brown County; grandson, Taj Eck of Brown County; siblings, Margaret (Larry) Fox of Brown County and Frances Cavender of Greenwood; sister-in-law, Debbie Eck of Brown County; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Walter ‘Butch’ Eck; and a brother-in-law, Chuck Cavender.
The Rev. Darrel Miller will conduct a funeral service on Monday at 1 p.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. LaVerne was born September 12, 1934, in Indianapolis, to her parents, the late Noble and Esther (Montgomery) Grider. Shortly after graduating from Thomas Carr Howe High School in Indianapolis, she married the love of her life, Kenneth “Kenny” L. Summers on June 8, 1952 in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death on September 17, 2010 after 58 loving years of marriage.
LaVerne was a talented florist and was the owner/operator of Blooming Boutique in Centerton and Valley Mills. She had also worked for a florist in Linton and was also a Gatekeeper at Shakamak State Park in Jasonville.
LaVerne enjoyed gardening, reading mystery novels and collecting southwestern items. Most of all she loved taking care of her dog, Baxter and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Laverne will be missed by her children: Richard (Linda) Summers of Plainfield, Kathy (Bernie) Auberry of Trafalgar, Cynthia (Dan) Nickleson of Jasonville and Lori (Ken) Lader of Mooresville; grandchildren; Keith (Terri) Summers of Plainfield, Kelly (Tony) Meiring of Greencastle, Stacie (Max) Austin of Jasonville, Kevin (Tanya) Sullivan of Linton, Eddie (Shannon) Pena of Jasonville, Kendra (Dave) Hanna of Hobe Sound, FL, Kassidy Auberry of Trafalgar, Cheryl (Jordan Piper) DuBois and Rachel DuBois both of Indianapolis; and 23 great grandchildren.

He enjoyed camping, fishing, throwing darts, playing poker and going to the casino. Most of all, John enjoyed spending time with his family.
He will be missed by his wife, Janet Gatton, who have spent the last 17 years together. He will also be missed by his sons: John E. (Chanda) Gatton of Morgantown and Danny J. (Tanya Eisenmenger) Gatton of Franklin; step-children: Julie (Mike) Goforth, and Adam Anderson; grandchildren: Michelle (Steven) Keener-Jackson, Danielle McIntosh, John McIntosh, Zachary Gatton, Zoey Gatton, Hannah Gatton, Kayleigh Hadley, Kelsie Goforth, Conner Goforth; 13 great grandchildren and siblings; James (Suan) Gatton and Dan (Nora) Gatton both of Indianapolis.
John was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Kellie Keener.

Clarence Earl Gray - March 17, 1935 - February 26, 2022

Obituary Preview: Clarence “Earl” Gray passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, February 26, 2022 at Compass Park in Franklin. He was a resident of Morgantown.
Earl was born March 17, 1935 to Clarence Gray and Hildred (Lottich) Gray in Indianapolis. He played many sports while at Beech Grove High School where he also met the love of his life. Earl married Sylvia (Prather) Gray on May 1, 1955. Together they began to build their plumbing business from their home in Beech Grove. There were subsequent moves to Southport and Greenwood with the business still in their home. In July 1979 they moved the business out of their home to their new building in Bargersville. What began as a one-person business became a family business with all four of their children involved in the business. The third and fourth generations also work in the family business.
Earl was involved in many organizations over the years. He was a member of the Greater Indianapolis Plumbing Heating Cooling Contractors, where he held many offices through the Presidency. Earl was on the Board of Directors for the Indiana State Association of the PHCC. He was also a member of the Beech Grove Masonic Lodge #694, Scottish Rite and Murat Shrine. As a member of the Morgantown United Methodist Church, he and Sylvia had their very specific pew each Sunday that they sat in, when able to attend.
Earl and Sylvia were fortunate to be able to travel to many places with their many friends. Later in life, his grandchildren became the love of his life and he became their biggest fans while attending their tennis matches, basketball, football, baseball and choir concerts.
Earl was preceded in death by his wife in December 2020. Survivors include his daughters, Jeri Ann (Bruce) Mitchell and Kathi Gray (Kathy Roberts); sons, Mike (Carrie) Gray and Mark (Cindy) Gray; grandchildren Michelle (John) Bennett, Brian (Amanda) Mitchell, Joshua (Miranda) Gray, Justin (Ashlie) Gray, Michaela (Nick) Cheek, Katie Gray, Hannah Gray, Cody (Abby) Roberts, Dakota (Haley) Roberts, Luke Roberts, McKenna Roberts and Noah Roberts; eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Earl is also survived by his sisters, Margaret Wheatley and Shirley Cantrell.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Georgia Ayres, Hazel Phillips and Jessie Glover.
The Rev. Burt Brock and Pastor Ann Spahr will conduct a funeral service on Friday at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church of Morgantown, 2717 S. Morgantown Road in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the church and from 10 a.m. until service time on Friday. A Masonic Service will be conducted by the Beech Grove Masonic Lodge on Thursday at 7:45 p.m. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.

Obituary Preview: Richard W. Rosebrock, age 58 of Brown County, passed away all too soon on Thursday evening, February 24, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born May 14, 1963 in Franklin, to his parents, Wayne and Merirose (Covert) Rosebrock. Richard was a 1981 graduate of Brown County High School and was employed as an Account Manager for ERMCO, Inc. in Indianapolis for the past five years. Prior to that, he was the owner and operator of Rosebrock Incorporated (Electrical Contractor) for over 26 years.
Richard was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 481 out of Indianapolis, where he was the recipient of the “Apprentice of the Year Award” in 1989 after his four year apprenticeship. Richard was also a member of the Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Department and was a Reserve Deputy for the Brown County Sherriff’s Department.
Richard’s family often referred to him as a squirrel, meaning he was always on the move, either by helping one in need, working on his Jeep or on his family farm. Richard enjoyed singing and playing his guitar. He also enjoyed writing songs and poetry. His true passion was his love for his family, especially his grandchildren and caring for his dog, Aspen.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Gina (Hodge) Rosebrock, whom he married on July 18, 1982 in Fairland. He is also survived by his parents, Wayne and Merirose Rosebrock of Brown County; children, Danielle (Chris) Ainsworth of Brown County, Hailey (Michael) Taylor of Poca, West Virginia, Joshua (fiancé, Jessica) Rosebrock, Taylor Rosebrock and Jordan (Kevin) McDaniel all of Brown County; brother, David (Deb) Rosebrock of Brown County; eleven grandchildren and a nephew, Austin Rosebrock of Brown County.

She enjoyed tending to her indoor plants, working jigsaw and crossword puzzles, collecting cookbooks and traveling when she was younger. Jackie was a fan of the Gameshow Network and old western movies with John Wayne being her favorite actor. She was also an avid reader of Danielle Steel and James Patterson novels. Jackie loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Ella (husband, Johnny) Sams and Ronnie H. (Amy Stewart) Presley Jr. both of Camby; sister, Linda Brooks of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Heaven Grubbs of Indianapolis, James Armitage of Indianapolis and Katie Armitage of North Carolina; and great grandchildren, John Jr., Zelda, J.J., Mitchel and Link.

Roger was a Driver in many capacities and was most recently a driver for Veterans, taking them to and from the VA Hospital in Indianapolis.  He enjoyed bowling and bowled a 300 score three times, receiving a ring for each of his perfect games. Roger also belonged to the dart league “Just Darts” and also enjoyed watching and playing basketball. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.
He will be missed by his father Roger C. Martin Sr of Mooresville; daughters, Harley Martin of Mooresville, Nina Martin and Layla Martin of Decatur Township; life companion, Samantha Cornett of Mooresville; brother, Jake Martin of Bargersville; and brother from another mother, Tony Harbolt of Medical Lake, Washington.

Earl was born November 22, 1946 in Indianapolis, to his parents, the late Charlie A. and Alice L. (Certain) Huffman Jr. He was a 1966 graduate of Greybull High School in Greybull, Wyoming and went on to attend the University of Wyoming to study Education.
Earl has worked in the HVAC Industry for over 50 years. He was currently employed with Excel Heating and Air Conditioning in Indianapolis as a HVAC Tech and Trainer. Earl has received many certifications in HVAC throughout his career.
He was an active member of the Nineveh Christian Church. Earl enjoyed the outdoors by hunting, fishing and tending to his vegetable garden. He also enjoyed shooting his muzzleloader, traveling and was a sports lover. Earl loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren & great grandchildren, especially attending whatever sport or activity they were participating in.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sherry Beaumont; his children, Tammy (Bobby) Prather of Martinsville, Angela Burnette of Martinsville, Heather (Mike) Spicer of Morgantown and Courtney (Keith) Hickman of Piacenza, Italy; sister, Alice O’Shall of Avon; ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and one great grandchild on the way.
He was preceded in death on August 17, 2016 by his first wife, Patricia L. (Eastwood) Huffman. Earl was also preceded in death by siblings, Linda Layman and James Huffman.

Wilbert was born December 14, 1937 in Mt. Vernon, Kentucky, to his parents, the late William David and Dora Mae (Cromer) Mink. He retired in 1998 as a Laborer with the Kroger Distribution Center in Indianapolis after 20 years of service. Prior to that, he worked for Sonith Foundry in Indianapolis as a Core Maker from 1955 to 1978.
Wilbert attended the Faith Full Gospel Church in Brown County. He will be remembered by his family as a hardworking husband, father and grandfather. Wilbert spent a great deal of time working in the outdoors and on his farm where he raised cattle and crops.  He enjoyed watching the news and collecting guns and knives. Wilbert loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His family and close friends will miss his big heart, storytelling and his laughter.
Wilbert is survived by his children, Sandra D. (Jim Showecker) Lee of Morgantown, David L. Mink of Indianapolis, Gary A. (Lori) Mink of Trafalgar and Damon A. Mink of Greenwood; brother, Henry Mink of Indianapolis; best friend, Tim Cromer of Morgantown; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Pauline (Riley) Mink, whom he married on October 6, 1957 in Indianapolis. Wilbert was also preceded in death by a brother, Jim Mink.
