On Monday, March 11, 2204 after 67 years of joyful living, Mrs. Lizzie Spruill-Brown transitioned to be with the Lord at ECU Medical Center in Greenville, NC.
LIZZIE MAE SPRUILL transitioned to be with her Lord on Monday, March 11, 2024 at ECU Medical Center, Greenville, North Carolina. Lizzie affectionately called was born on February 19,1957 in Martin County to the late Moses and Ida Hyman -Spruill of Hassell, North Carolina.
Lizzie professed her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age. Throughout her life, she served the Lord and shared HIS love, with others ; she will be remembered for the kind and gentle spirit, willingness to help others, warm hugs and kisses , pleasant sense of humor and a passion for music.
Lizzie attended Martin County schools during her ladder years, Lizzie was united in Holy Matrimony on January 1976 to Billy James Brown, from that union, two children were born, and they made their home in Dumfries, Virginia. Lizzie worked very earnestly at clerical jobs in the Dumfries area. Lizzie loved and welcome everyone. She loved cooking shows, gardening, and singing around the house. Lizzie had various health battles, her heavenly father saw the need to give her a much deserved rest; and HE called her to HIS heavenly home. Lizzie was preceded in death by her parents Moses and Ida Hyman -Spruill; three brothers, George , Milton and Lynwood Spruill. Throughout his life, Jimmy dedicated himself to his career as an excellent hotel worker. He brought a sense of warmth and hospitality to all those he encountered. He left a lasting impression on both colleagues and quest. A Memorial  Service  will be scheduled at a later date. Alvin loved Harley Davidsons. Going on long bike rides on his 1995 ultra-classic with his wife and local groups. He loved to shoot pool and work on his old ford truck. He enjoyed archery in his back yard with his compound bow. He also enjoyed sitting on his front porch and just watching the sun come up with a good cup of coffee. His other passion was construction, he was one of the best framers on the east coast and could blend anything and make it look like it had no seams. He was one of the few from the past that believed in bartering you help me, and I will help you. He was an honest man of his word and would do anything for his family.

Four children were born to this Union. Elder Cromwell was a Christian man who loved God. He preached the word of God at Mount Carmel Way of the Cross Church located in Blackjack, North Carolina. His favorite song was" Sending Up My Timber.''
He worked at Purdue farms for more than 30 years. Then he began to have health issues ; he later moved to the Carrolton Health Center of Williamston, North Carolina until his eternal Father called him Home to Glory.
Elder Cromwell leaves to cherish his memories two sons Alton (Patricia) Cromwell of Windsor, North Carolina Reginald Cromwell ,Greenville, North Carolina and one brother Lynnwood Cromwell Raleigh, North Carolina. Two grandchildren Essence Cromwell Greensboro, North Carolina and Darrius Cromwell, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and two great grandchildren of Philadelphia Pennsylvania.
All relatives, special friends in his church and neighbors.

Lonnie Lee Crenshaw - September 16, 1934 - March 10, 2023

Lonnie Marie “Ree” Crenshaw transcended peacefully to her heavenly home on  March 10, 2023, in Southern Maryland surrounded by her loving and devoted family. Born on September 16, 1934, Lonnie was the first of nine children born to Hezekiah & Walterine Bell in Williamston, North Carolina. As a teenager, Lonnie demonstrated extraordinary leadership skills, was fiercely independent, a trailblazer in her own right and matriarch as she displayed immeasurable compassion and love for her family.
Lonnie attended E.J. Hayes School in Williamston, North Carolina and had big dreams for her life. In 1952, at age 15, Lonnie relocated to New York City on her own to make her dreams a reality. In the late 1940’s New York was the epicenter of early civil rights movement and mass migration of Black southerners gave New York the largest urban black population in the world. Lonnie saw the vision and would soon pave the way for many of her family members to follow suit.
On August 9, 1950, Lonnie and Leo Long were blessed with their son Jerome Gaylord Bell affectionately called “Butch” and soon after birthed their daughter Janice Marie Bell on April 30, 1952. As a young mother, Lonnie worked as an au pair to support her children. In 1960, Lonnie tragically lost both of her parents and without a second thought returned to Williamston, North Carolina to raise her youngest siblings Sarah and Harry.
In 1968,  Lonnie left Williamston for the last time and moved back to New York City to live her dream. Soon after returning, she enrolled in culinary school at Holmes Laundry Hospitality. She loved working in hospitality, creating culinary masterpieces that landed her a job at RCA in the Rockefeller building. Lonnie was a highly esteemed employee and eventually retired with RCA many years later. Lonnie lived an extraordinary life, with countless chapters and decades of memories. She loved her family, and made it a priority to travel to see those she loved near and far. Lonnie was a socialite, an avid member of several social clubs including small groups that supported local city councilman and coordinated banquets for them. Lonnie was many things…a daughter, a sister, a mother, a grandmother, a friend, a supporter, a fighter, a woman of wisdom and a child of God!
Lonnie Crenshaw is survived by her sister Sarah Bell; daughter in law Clara Bell; grandchildren John Gillison, Shalante Davis; great grandchildren Dominique McKnight, Orianna Gillison, Elise Gillison, John Gillison III, Cortez Davis, Mark Davis, and Linnell Bell. Lonnie is preceded in death by her parents Hezekiah & Walterine Bell; siblings Hezekiah Bell Jr., William Frank Bell, Violine Bell, Shirley Mae Bell, Verna Mae Bell-Williams, Napeleon Bell, and Harry McKenney Bell; children Jerome Gaylord Bell and Janice Gillison; grandson Donovan Gillison; great granddaughter Jada Gillison. Lonnie was also preceded in death by her long time spouse Bennie “Chuck” Chambers of which she shared 48 years of her life with. Lonnie was also survived by a host of family and friends. She loved to crochet and craft jewelry. Anyone that crossed paths with Karen would recall her polite demeanor and selflessness. Karen truly loved her children, which she called “Baby Pet” and “Fats.” She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Edward Story; husband, Michael Earl Brown Sr., father-in-law, Mr. Clyde Brown; and brother-in-law, Mr. Tyrone Brown. Obituary Preview: Dr. Apostle Herman Frank Hemby Senior was a native of Greenville, NC. He was born to the late Rev. Bennie Lee and Rev. Kathleen Gray Hemby. He was one of twelve children. Apostle Hemby was educated in the public school system in Greenville and Raleigh, NC. and continued higher educational pursuits in business at Hardbarger Business College, North Carolina State University, Kings Business College in Raleigh, NC and Pitt Community College-Greenville, NC in preparation for a life lived in service and commitment in his professional life earning numerous awards and citations for outstanding achievement during his distinguished insurance career as a Sales Agent, Staff Manager and later earned the designation of Life Underwriter Training Counsel Fellow (LUTCF). Dr. Hemby was a decorated soldier who served his country in the United Stated Army and Navy where he was awarded both the Bronze Star Medal and the Valorous Unit Award. His military and civilian career travels spanned across the U.S., Asia-Pacific, Africa, and European region. Dr. Hemby’s had the heart of a servant leader developing his love for the Lord and God’s people through his service as a member of the Usher Board, Gospel Choir, Trustee and Deacon Boards and Prison Missionary Team. In 1995, Dr. Hemby was ordained as a church Elder to aide in preaching ministry and served as a member of the Board of Directors.
Dr. Hemby’s His life's purpose was to know God, understand things from His perspective, and do what God was calling him to do. By the grace of God, in 1998 he founded and later became the Presiding Bishop of The First Biblican Church of Deliverance Incorporated a non-denominational Christian ministry. He often referred to God as the Banner over his life, acknowledging that his whole identity was found in and founded on God and with that mindset endeavored to make disciples of men and women who would boldly carry the banner of Christian distinction “raising the banner of the Lord” as instructed in Exodus 17:15 and John 12:32. With God’s help he developed a successful partnership with the Food Bank of the Central and Eastern NC to feed the hungry. In 2006, he became the Covenant Care Pastor for the Greater Raleigh Chapter of the Women of Faith, Inc. In 2008, he partnered with Step-Up Ministry working with adults who desire become self-sufficient, transform their lives through life skills training employment, and housing. He believed that from this position flowed renewed vision and purpose. And from vision and purpose, hope could truly be birthed. Dr. Hemby was the author of two books well received in bookstores entitled, “Cities In The Church” and “Get Real (genuine) or Get Kill (perish) based on John 10:10.

Joseph departed this life on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at Carrolton Nursing Home in Williamston, NC. Joseph was married to the late Alice Cherry. Later he relocated to New York where he worked with a moving company for many years. Joseph joined the First Union Baptist Church in Bronx, New York where he served as a trustee usher and a member of the male chorus under the leadership of Rev. James E. Wilson.
He enjoyed playing baseball, watching all sports and reading the newspaper. He leaves to cherish his memories two sons; Gregory Cherry and Robert E. Cherry (Ruth) both of Windsor, NC; Johnny Williams, Curley Williams, and LuBertha Smallwood all of New York.
Five grandchildren, seven great Pgrandchildren, cousins, relatives, and friends. One daughter Maggie Ruth Williams Dpreceded him in death. Mrs. Patterson loved the church and was a very humble spirit, loving wife, and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.  Mrs. Patterson was an Enloe graduate of UNC Charlotte, North Carolina; she was employed at One Main Finance Company in Raleigh, N C.
Mrs. Patterson leaves to cherish her memories of her loving husband of 39 years, James Patterson Jr., a devoted daughter,  Elizabeth Patterson of Raleigh, NC, and a dedicated son, James Patterson, both of  Raleigh, NC. Three granddaughters, Tania Smith, Jameé Smith, and Ja'Liyah Patterson.

Mrs. Patterson was loved by everyone and will be truly remembered.   When one thinks about it, the life of Wanda Eason Patterson came in a full circle. She entered the world cradled in the arms of her Earthly father and left it nestled in the arms of her Heavenly father. We praise God for His marvelous work in and through her life.
