Paul is survived by his wife, Maxine (née Hackney) Howard of Milford, OH; his children: Timothy P. (Louise) Howard of Winchester, OH, Elizabeth Shauen Howard (Dan Lavigne) of Lawrenceburg, IN and Kristopher P. (Jordan) Howard of West Chester, OH. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his siblings: Geraldine Nickell, Christine Short and Troy Howard.

Paul retired from Ohio Woodworking after 47 years.

Funeral service will be 12 PM Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Megie Funeral Home & Crematory – Craver Chapel, 529 Main Street, Milford, OH 45150, where family and friends will be received from 10 AM until the time of service. Interment Mt. Orab Cemetery, Mt. Orab, OH. Tom Hackney officiating.

born on November 1, 1944, to Joseph and Lois (Wheeler) Walker in Springfield, Ohio. Sharon is survived by her children, Jennifer Anders (Barry), Kirsten Rupper (Laine), Christina Pfeiffer, and Kathy Pfeiffer (David); her grandchildren, Ryan, Christopher, Claire, Olivia, Alec, and McKinnon; her

great-grandchildren Elliott, Oakley, and Rylee.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, Clarence McGinnis, and her husband, William Pfeiffer. Sharon attended Catholic Central High School in Springfield (Class of 1962). She then went on to pursue multiple careers over her life, including a career as a radiologist and as an assistant manager at Delta Steel, later Ambassador Steel - Harris Steel. She was known for her kindness and humor among her friends, whether in the "Dayton 40", her travel club, her many book clubs, or her friends she made in the Traditions community. Her family will remember her love and warmth, her kindness and

smile, and her encouragement and support to live their lives to the fullest. Sharon never missed a family gathering, a dinner with friends, 3:00 pm chocolate time, or a Joe Burrow start in a Bengals game. She lived a life well-lived and well-loved.

A celebration of Life will be held at Traditions at Camargo Senior Center, 7650 Camargo Rd. Madeira, Ohio 45243 on April 21 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm.

Hughes Gillespie, grandchildren: Blair, Brooklyn, Bellamy, and Finley, sister Kathleen Burkhart and numerous aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father Richard O. Kimmick, grandparents Richard and Adele Kimmick and Lloyd and Beatrice Hill and his best friend and partner Lynn Marie Nagel.

Rick will be missed, but never forgotten by all who knew him.

Mel was the beloved husband of 70 years to Claire Jean (neé Griffith) Larson, loving dad of Mark E. Larson, Timothy E. (the late Pam) Larson, Kristen M. (Lee) Fagre, and Karen L. (Jack) Noe, proud grandpa of Jessica Larson, Anna (William Knudsen) Fagre, Eric (Angela Poole) Fagre, Lucas Fagre, Ethan Fagre, and Trey Noe, and his great grandchildren, Ivy, Lily, Gage, Willow, and Rosemary, dear brother of Jeanine (Hank) Hodge, and will also be missed by his nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

In addition to his career in banking, Mel enjoyed contributing his time to many nonprofit organizations such as Clermont Senior Services. Mel and Jean shared a love of travel, as well as cheering on their favorite Cincinnati sports teams. His children and grandchildren will always remember Grandpa's wonderful sense of humor.

Mel’s family would like to thank Pinebrook Senior Retirement Community, Home Instead Senior Care, and Affinity Hospice for the wonderful care they provided for Mel.

Robert "Bob" Mochilar - September 04, 1929 - March 30, 2024

Obituary Preview: Born Wednesday, September 4th, 1929; Robert “Bob” Mochilar began a journey that spanned nine decades, and introduced him to many loves, none of which were stronger than the love he had for his wife Helen, and their children, Ken, Jackie, Joyce, and Robert A.

For most of his 94 years, he had one constant in his life, his accordion. Bob learned to play the accordion and piano at the age of 7 and played them regularly into his 94th year. During this time, a love of music developed along with a passion for polkas.

It was music and polkas that led him to his true love. Because of these, while Bob was in the Army, he joined the SNPJ lodge 138 and one evening while attending a dance at the lodge, he saw a beautiful woman sitting at a table. Little did he know that this woman, Helen, would become his true love.

Bob and Helen married, and a family began. In life, what seemed like a few short years later, Bob, Helen, Joyce, and Robert A, moved to Florida while Ken joined the Air Force and Jackie attended College in Pennsylvania.

Bob’s entrepreneurial spirit kicked right in once settled in Florida and he opened his Card and Gift store in St. Petersburg. This didn’t last long as he kept reflecting on his first business ownership in Pennsylvania, a Standard Oil Gas Station. He knew the automotive industry was his work passion and soon he closed the Card and Gift store and opened a new venture, R&M Tire. Due to his success, contacts he made encouraged him to grow the business and before long, he closed R&M Tire and opened Modern Tire & Wheel.

Throughout Bob’s life, the hobbies enjoyed most were shared with Helen. They included fishing in Canada, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Alaska, and almost daily in Florida, to playing daily games of 500 rum with Helen. Music remained a big part of his life and included playing in polka bands, managing two bands of his own, and even remaining a member of the SNPJ lodge 778, to which he was elected President for multiple years. Maybe not a hobby, but definitely one of Bob’s loves was food. You knew this by the soft sounds of approval he would give with every bite. He loved many different foods but at the top of the list were soft shelled crabs, pierogies (Helen’s & Mrs. T’s), Helen’s Hawaiian wedding cake and just about everything else Helen cooked.

On March 30th, 2024, Robert “Bob” Mochilar peacefully passed away in his sleep while his daughter, Jackie Cafera was by his side. He was 94 years old.

He will be missed by many.

Preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Helen, son, Kenneth Widish and daughter Joyce Mochilar Starratt as well as brothers: Edward J. Sever, John Sever, Frank Sever and sisters: Marie Page, Olga Levanoff, and Viola Mochilar.

Survived by his daughter Jacqueline Widish (Robert) Cafera (Milford, Ohio), and son Robert (Mary) Mochilar (Royse City, Texas). He leaves to have loving memories of him, 8 grandchildren: Paul, Georgia, Lindsey, Brittany, David, Donald, Marcella and Blake; 19 great grandchildren: Amanda, Sierra, Megan, Katelyn, Glen, Gabriella, Rachael, Ray Jr., Austin, Jacob, Bella, Jonathan, Christopher, Amiyah, Forest, Emma, Michael, Cailin, and Abigail and many great-great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Brenner, and his six children: David Brenner, Michael Brenner, Alison Huddleston (Matt), Sarah Schneider (Geoff), Kate Aicholtz (Ben), and Chris Taylor (Paula). He adored his grandchildren; Ripley, Peri, Dyson, Niko, Spencer, Paul, Stella, Mabel, George, Lucas, Brandon, Aiden, Bella and another one on the way. He will be greatly missed by his brother Andrew Brenner and sister Anne Hirschauer (Tom). He was also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Jeff was an avid music lover and could always be found with a guitar under his arm. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, and was happiest when surrounded by his grandchildren. Jeff devoted many years of his life working with individuals with developmental disabilities, impacting the lives of many.

In addition to her parents, Debbie was preceded in death by her brother, Rusty Kean.

Debbie loved the pool and working on her tan. She also enjoyed playing cards and going out to eat with her friends. Debbie was a single mother who provided everything for her daughter, and she rocked it. Always going above and beyond to make sure her family was cared for.

Obituary Preview: Alex B. Filimonov

Alexander "Alex" B. Filimonov, 88, of Milford, Ohio, passed away peacefully at Twin Lakes Retirement Community in Montgomery, Ohio, on March 10, 2024. He was born on November 7, 1935, to Boris and Tamara Filimonov in Shanghai, China.

Alex lived in Shanghai with his parents until 1949, speaking Russian at home, English around town, and French at the College Municipal Francais, a school he often traveled to by rickshaw. He and his parents loved to travel and spent time at the Great Wall of China, seaside resorts, and lovely mountain towns.

During World War II, he and his parents lived in the English Quarter of Shanghai, where life was relatively peaceful even amidst the Japanese occupation of the city. As resources grew scarcer near the end of the war, Alex’s mother—who spoke Japanese—ran a small silver and currency black market to help make ends meet.

After the war, life improved for a time, but the shadow of civil war loomed over the country. By 1948, it had become clear that they would need to leave China and they applied for a visa to the United States. Despite several attempts, they were unsuccessful. In 1949, the United Nations evacuated them from Shanghai to the small island of Tubabao in the Philippines, where they lived in a US Army tent in a community of 5,000 Russian refugees.

At first, life on Tubabao was idyllic. School took only a few hours a day, so Alex had the rest of the day free to explore the island, play with friends and his cousins, swim, and canoe. But as time passed, more and more refugees left for new homes around the world. During that time, his father passed away, leaving Alex and his mother alone in a dwindling group of refugees.

Finally, in May 1953, Alex and his mother received permission to immigrate to Paraguay in South America. The two of them took a Dutch freighter bound for Buenos Aires, Argentina, across the ocean, stopping at Singapore, Seychelles Islands, Durban, Port Elizabeth, Cape Town, Rio de Janeiro, and Montevideo. After a few more days on a river boat and train, the two travelers arrived near midnight at their new home in Asuncion, Paraguay. They did not speak a word of Spanish.

Alex lived in Paraguay for five years, working for an American agricultural agency, studying and becoming fluent in Spanish, and earning an equivalency high school diploma. He also enjoyed traveling the country and visiting its many spectacular waterfalls.

In 1958, Alex left Paraguay for the United States, where he joined the U.S Army. He served his first year in Seoul, Korea, during the Korean War. In that time, he also spent time in Japan while on leave, visiting Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagasaki, and Mount Fujiyama.

After receiving an Honorable Discharge, Alex moved to Madison, Wisconsin, where he earned a BS at the University of Wisconsin. In May 1966, he became a US citizen.

While pursuing an MS, he met his wife, Beatrice Young, a graduate student in English. After a brief courtship, the two married on May 16, 1966. The next few years were hectic. The couple lived in several places across the country—including Washington, D.C., and rural Minnesota—and welcomed their two sons, Mark and Matthew. In 1970, the two finally settled down in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where Alex enrolled in a PhD program in Radiation Physics.

After receiving his PhD, Alex took a job at a hospital in Rochester, New York, where they lived and raised Mark and Matthew until 1978, when Alex was hired as a physicist at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover, New Hampshire. The couple lived there for 28 years, enjoying the rugged New England landscape and the culture that nearby Dartmouth College offered.

In 2006, Alex and Bea moved to Milford, Ohio, to be close to Matthew and his family. The couple also bought a home in Grass Valley, California for long visits to Mark and his family. While living in Ohio, Alex and Bea had many adventures, traveling to Alaska, Mexico, and Prague, which they used as a jumping off point for a cruise down the Danube River.

Alex is survived by his loving wife Beatrice, his sons Mark and Matthew, his daughter-in-law Katie, his granddaughters Tamara, Madeline, Delaney, and Jane, his grandson Henry, and his great-granddaughter Sylvia.

Long, loving father of Mark (Cheryl) Long, Diana (Gary) Ray, Gwen (Alan Schadler) Kroeger, and Kevin (Aimee) Long, affectionate grandfather of Chris (Rosie), Stefanie (John), Kyle (Angelynn), Ryan (Monica), Taylor, Payton, Karson, and his great-grandchildren, Michael, Cannon, Josie, Allie, Landen, Archer, Lena, and Carissa, dear brother-in-law to Vernon “Butch” Sluder.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Sluder.

Bob’s life revolved around his kids and above all else he always put his family first. Bob and Carol were high school sweethearts who brightened each other’s lives every day during their 56 years of marriage. They were business partners for 30 years at Long’s Country Store. Bob was a lifelong resident of Milford and the surrounding areas, graduating from Milford High School in 1952.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Megie Funeral Home and Crematory – Craver Chapel, 529 Main St., Milford, OH at 12 NOON, where family and friends will be received from 10 AM until the hour of service. Committal Service will immediately follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.

Pastor Bill Rillo will be officiating.

Roger was an excellent, great, dad to Dale (Patty) Volz, Jessie (Angela Hunter) Morris, and Stacy (Mario) Arrieta, grandfather of Anne Morris, Sydney Stamper, Dyllon Wendal, Danne Wendal, and Andrea Arrieta, brother of Cyndy Chiancone, Donna (Marty) Holtzleiter, Ileen (Jeff) Flatt, and Rhonda (Don) Teener.

In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his brother Ken Chiancone.

Roger was a faithful follower of Christ. He was the owner/operator of Volz Painting for 25+years, volunteered for Impacting Tomorrow (an organization that feeds the homeless and struggling families), was always lending a helping hand and was very dependable and always on time. He will be greatly missed.

Bonnie was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to Kenneth and Marian Loeffler. Bonnie graduated from Mt. Healthy High School in 1963. Bonnie married the love of her life, Bill Williams on August 28, 1976. Together they had a daughter Beth Anne.

As a young woman Bonnie joined the Sisters of Charity to become a teacher. She eventually left the order and began a 40-year teaching career in elementary education. Most of those years were spent teaching in the Milford School District.

Bonnie was an avid sports fan particularly college basketball and Cincinnati Reds.

Bonnie was a devoted wife, mother, sister, friend, teacher, and Nan. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, daughter Beth, brother Mike, brothers-in-law Gary Britz and Bob Greene, best friend Roseanne Zigler, and sister-in-law Judy Williams.

Bonnie is survived by her loving family Gayle Britz, Kathy Durrough (Tom), Jean Shumate (Joe), Nancy Weil (Bill), Eric Loeffler (Mary), Lois Taylor (Randy), Mary Greene, Sister-in-law Bonnie J. Williams and one and only granddaughter Kennedy Carter.

Everyone who met Bonnie loved her. She made many new friends at Harrison Trails and Northgate Park. She will be greatly missed by all.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was also preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Wilma (Harold) Horton.

Jean was a longtime member of the Lerado Church of Christ in Williamsburg, Ohio.

Peggy was preceded in death by her mother, Eva Hickey.

She retired from SENCO, Ethicon after 30+ years. Her kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her whole world.
