Obituary Preview: Ottie Henry Barlow, 80, of Manchester, passed away, Friday, May 10, 2024 at Hospice of Hope at Kenton Pointe in Maysville.  He was born April 2, 1944 in Mason County, Kentucky, son of the late Smith and Bertha Alice Brierly Barlow.  He was married to the late Patricia Montgomery.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Betty Ellen Anderson, Billy Douglas Barlow, Phyliss Jean McDowell, Shirley Ann Humphreys, Judy Alice Hunt, Dana Beth Campbell, Jackie Breen Barlow and Cynthia Sue Campbell.
Ottie was a Sergeant in the United States Army where he was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War.  He was a member of the Manchester Veterans Club and attended New Beginnings Church in Manchester. He is survived by his children, David (Erika) Barlow, Heather Barlow and Holly (Will Kirk) Barlow; his significant other, Patty Young; grandchildren, Alexus, Torie, Kendall and Easton Barlow, Piper and Bode Kirk; great-grandson, David Cortijo and a brother, Bobby Smith (Alice) Barlow. Obituary Preview: Miguel Allen Quezada, 17, of Manchester, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024 in Manchester.  He was born August 2, 2006 in Portsmouth, son of Alejandro Quezada of Portsmouth and Jessica Holsinger (Shawn) Markwell of Manchester.  He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Celestino Quezada and Freddie Holsinger; uncles, Josh Horner, Jimmy Shoemaker and Giovanni Quezada.
Miguel was a Junior at Manchester High School and the Ohio Valley Career Technical Center.  He loved all kinds of music; if it had a beat, he was jamming to it.  He also loved helping his mom with yard work.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his siblings, Hayden and Eric Quezada, Mayah, Alex, Lucas, Anna, Josh and Kaelyn Markwell; grandmothers, Pam Holsinger, Emily Ramirez and Rosalina Matla; aunts and uncles, Sarah (John Roberts) Bowling, Carrie (David Bender) Womacks and Lakota Thacker; his girlfriend, Keira Tolle as well as several cousins, other family members and friends.

Gaffin, 61, of Manchester, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2024 at the Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus.  She was born September 23, 1962 in West Union, daughter of John Martin Kennedy of Manchester and the late Nancy L. Gray Kennedy.  She is survived by her loving husband of 18 years, John Wayne Gaffin.
Sherry’s family was her world, especially her pride and joy, Luke and Noah.  She hardly ever missed an event that they were in; it didn’t matter the distance or the event, she was there.  She also enjoyed watching and hearing Kadyn sing.   Not only did she love her grandchildren, but also loved all the children of the town.  She always enjoyed seeing them grow and succeed and supported them at any sporting event.
In addition to her husband and father, she is survived by her beloved children, Jennifer (Andy) Baughey, Tara (Roger) Applegate, Brandon (Juana) Rowe, John (Laura) Gaffin and Hillary Gaffin; her adored grandchildren, Kadyn Watson, Luke and Noah Applegate, Drew Baughey, Russell and Claire Gaffin, Austin and Isaiah Redmon and Mason Applegate; great-grandchildren, Brystol Redmon and Miles Applegate; siblings, Martina (Jeff) Fields, John Kennedy, Jill Kennedy; Rose Copas and Karen Rolph; special nieces and nephews, Brooke and Drew Kennedy, Jessica Alexander and Tyler Fields as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Karen was a member of the Bentonville Christian Union Church as well as an honorary member of the Ladies Auxiliary at Manchester Veterans Club.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Tracy (Trevor) Spires; grandchildren, Kiersten, Gracelyn and Parker Spires; siblings, Sharon (Mark) Flora and Ray (Michael Klapp) McCollum as well as many close family members.

Obituary Preview: James “Jimmy” Shoemaker, 37, of Manchester, passed away, Thursday, March 28, 2024.  He was born February 1, 1987 in West Union, son of Pamela Hesler Holsinger and Tommy Shoemaker both of Manchester.   Jimmy was a Machinist by trade, but worked other jobs as well.  Jimmy loved working on cars.  If it had an engine and gears, it would be taken apart to see how it all worked. He was preceded in death by his step-father, Freddie Holsinger; brother, Joshua Horner; paternal grandparents, Charles and Della Hunt Shoemaker and his maternal grandparents, Jess and Helen Wells Hesler.
In addition to his parents, he leaves behind two beautiful children, Bella Jade and Keegan Michael Shoemaker; brother, Joseph (Hannah Wagner) Megarry; sisters, Sarah (John Roberts) Bowling, Carrie (David Bender) Womacks, Jessica (Shawn) Markwell and Lakota Thacker. William "Butch" Woolard - May 02, 1944 - March 21, 2024

Obituary Preview: William G. “Butch” Woolard, 79, of Manchester, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2024 at his residence.  He was born May 2, 1944 in Manchester, son of the late William “Bill” and Georgia Yates Woolard.  He was the widower of the late Sherry Satterfield Woolard who passed away in 2013.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Troy Woolard in 2021; brother, Jimmy Woolard and a sister, Kathy Welch. Butch was the Publisher/Owner of the Manchester Signal for 37 years and was a part of this family business for many years prior.  He, along with his wife, Sherry, also ran the Manchester Boat Dock and Campground for several years.  Butch was a former Council Member for Manchester as well as an Auxiliary Police Officer.  Butch was saved by his Savior Jesus Christ several years ago and became a member of New Beginning Church.  Every Thursday night, he and Dale Little would travel around the county and go to hospitals praying with folks and help them find love in Jesus.  He was a very athletic individual with a strong sports mindset and was a coach for several years because of it.  In his younger days, he enjoyed hunting and managed several Rock-n-Roll bands. Butch had a passion for classic cars and enjoyed attending car shows as well as rod runs.  He also had a love for dogs, especially his K-9 sidekick, Marley. His love of his family topped it all.  He loved every minute he spent with them and enjoyed going to family gatherings He is survived by his beloved daughter, Nicki (Larry) Pollitt; his companion of 4 ½ years, Betty Henderson; grandchildren, Mikayla (Zach Overstreet) Pollitt, Rylan (Kelsey) Woolard and Nick Woolard; great-grandchildren, Madilyn and Malorie Woolard, Ledger and Brooks Overstreet; sister, Sue (John) Dryden; his K-9 sidekick, Marley as well as several nieces and nephews. Antonio Wade Morgan - March 31, 1978 - March 21, 2024

Obituary Preview: Antonio Wade Morgan, 45, of West Union, passed away, after a battle with cancer, on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati.  He was born March 31, 1978 in West Union, son of Donna Baker Morgan of West Union and the late Larry Morgan.  He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Kristi Pitts Morgan.   In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carl and Betty Baker, Emma and Charles Morgan.
Antonio was an Abatement Worker for the Local 8 Union and was very talented at working on cars.
In addition to his loving wife and mother, he is survived by his son, Cody Morgan; sister, Amy Morgan; special friend, Ricky Rutherford as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. Kurt proudly and honorably served in the United States Army, 101st Airborne. He will be remembered for his dedication and service to his country. He was also a member of Maysville VFW.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his beloved children, Kiarra Creech (Damon Blake), Konnor Creech, and Reagan Yates. Kurt is also survived by his siblings, Bill (Valerie) Taylor of Yreka, CA, Brian (Melanie) Taylor Maysville, KY, Johnnie (Blaine) Matteson of Rio Vista CA, and step-sister Tessa (Bobby) Freeman of Ardmore, OK.
He was preceded in death by his biological father, Billy Ray Creech; paternal grandparents, Harold Dean and Zoila Creech and maternal grandparents, Arnold and Roberta Spires.

Dora Lorene Grooms - May 23, 1936 - February 16, 2024

Obituary Preview: Dora “Lorene” Grooms, 87, of Manchester, passed away Friday, February 16, 2024 at the Hospice of Hope Care Center at Kenton Pointe in Maysville, KY.  She was born May 23, 1936 in Modesto, CA, daughter of the late Victor Hargrove and Ida Tillotson Marshall.  She was the widow of the late Loran Dale Grooms.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Gregory D, Geoffrey D. and David L. Grooms; siblings, Marvell Cox, Donald Hargrove and Marian Baker.
Lorene retired as a 911 Dispatcher for the Adams County Sheriff Department after 27 years.  She was an Advanced EMT for 20+ years with the Manchester Life Squad and was one of the first handful of women to do that line of work in this area.  Lorene was very passionate about her work on the life squad and even up to about 2 weeks ago, people would still stop her at Walmart and talk about her times there.  She was an avid crochetier and Euchre player.  She was also an amazing cook.  When there was a community dinner, Lorene was told what to bring, because people so looked forward to her dishes.  She had a rule, being that if you were there at meal time you were invited to stay and eat.
She is survived by her daughter, Lorna Julian; grandchildren, Jason Robert (Tina) Paul, Jaimie (Scott) Hughes, Jeremy (Brina) Paul, Amanda (Mike) Gilvin, Carey (Samantha) Grooms, Amber (Jen) Grooms-Hall, Grant (Brandi) Grooms, David (Christina) Grooms and Jason (Chassity) Lucas; great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Paul, Clayton and Tyler Paul, Kaitlyn Grooms and Levi Gilvin, Gregory Grooms, Auri Woerner, Guage, Graysen, Cambrie and Brielle Grooms, Brock Tomlin, Harper and Kinsley Grooms, Yasmin, Quinton and Joselyn Lucas; great-great-grandchild, Waylon Williams and one on the way; sister, Joyce Hughett and a special caretaker and neighbor, Stevie Wood.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 1:00 PM, until the time of the funeral service at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Wilson Funeral Home, 35 W. Second St., Manchester.  Pastor Owen Applegate will officiate.  Lorene will be cremated after the services.

Bobby was a jack of all trades; anything he set his mind to do, he was instantly talented at it.  He loved to be outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing.  Bobby was a very athletic, caring individual who loved life.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his children, Brentin Moman, Adrianna Moman and Jozlin Rose Moman; siblings, Jenessa Rich, Alicia Moman, Zachary and Zeke Robison; ex-wife, Brittany Buchanan as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

James Kimmerly - April 14, 1923 - January 06, 2024

Obituary Preview: James W. Kimmerly Sr., known to many as "Little Jimmy", age 100, of Manchester, Ohio, passed away on January 6, 2024. He was born on April 14, 1923 to the late Samuel and Perlina Kimmerly.
He served his country proudly in the United States Navy during World War II, and he was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He was a member of many organizations, including the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Maysville, Kentucky and both the American Legion & VFW of Manchester, Ohio, where he was a past post-commander of the VFW. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
James retired from Chrysler after working there for over 30 years. When he was in his 70's, he started Clogging in his free time and was a member of the Fancy Free Cloggers of West Union, Ohio. At age 93, he auditioned for America's Got Talent with the Fancy Free Cloggers. He befriended everyone he met, and he knew just about everybody. His smile and his sense of humor will be greatly missed by many.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Kimmerly; his son, Charles Kimmerly Sr.; grandchildren: Robert & Marcia Dull; and his siblings: John, Corda, Mintie, Edward, Robert, Thomas F., Bertha, Jeannie, Samuel, Ross and Charles.
He is survived by his children: James W. Kimmerly Jr. and Cheryl Dull; his sisters, Annie Frost and Sarah Parsons; his grandchildren: Charles C. Kimmerly Jr. (Kylea), Christopher Dull and Craig Dull (Denise); great-grandchildren: Curtis, Tony, Sofia and Jordan; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Glenn was in the United States Army.  He worked for Ohio River Boat Co., Chrysler Airtemp in Dayton and DP&L Stuart Station where he retired in 1999.

He is survived by his daughters, Cynthia Wells and husband Jeff of Cincinnati and Amanda Dunaway of Manchester; 4 grandchildren, Hunter (Emily Norman) Wells of Cincinnati, Victoria Ann Hanson of Manchester, Aliya (Jamison) Wilkins of Cincinnati and Elisa Louise (Josh Fite) Brown of Manchester; siblings, Edwin Dunaway, Fred (Louise) Dunaway, Roger Dunaway, Mattie Ann Brown, Louise (Raymond) Stapleton and Margrett Littleton as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mickey leaves behind two aunts, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and close friends. Mickey spent over 30 years working as a truck driver and dispatcher for Royalty Trucking in Cincinnati, OH. Mickey was an avid golfer, loved gardening, and enjoyed hunting. Mickey was a member of SAL Post 325, Manchester Masonic Lodge, and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Maysville, KY. Marie was a member of the Manchester Seventh Day Adventist Church for 53 years.  She served in multiple capacities wherever she was needed.  She was a founding member of the Community Care Center where she spent countless hours volunteering.  She greeted everyone with a smile and a warm hug.  Her greatest priority in life was showing the love of Jesus to others.
She enjoyed time with family, her cats, needlework and gardening. She will be remembered for her love for God and her love for everyone He placed in her life.

He was the Pastor for Augusta Presbyterian Church for many years, a member of the former Presbyterian Church of Manchester and a current member of the Manchester Community Church.  Les leaves behind a legacy that will be untouched and will be greatly missed.
