Alice Campbell - March 17, 1950 - April 14, 2022

Departed: 04/14/2022 (Philadelphia)
Obituary Preview: Beside the toilsome way Lonely and dark, by fruits and flowers unblest, Which my feet tread sadly, day by day, Longing in vain for rest.   An angel softly walks, With pale sweet face, and eye cast meekly down, The while from withered leaves and flowerless stalks She weaves my fitting crown.   A sweet and patient grace, A look of firm endurance, true and tried, Of suffering meekly borne, rests on her face So pure — so glorified.   And when my fainting heart Desponds and murmurs at its adverse fate, Then quietly the angel’s bright lips part, Murmuring softly, “Wait!   ‘Patience!’ she sweetly saith, — The Father’s mercies never come too late; Gird thee with patient strength and trusting faith, And firm endurance, — wait!”   Angel! behold, I wait, Wearing the thorny crown through all life’s hours, — Wait till thy hand shall ope the eternal gate, And change the thorns to flowers!

James "Tooch" Edward Woody Jr. - March 09, 1980 - February 12, 2022

Departed: 02/12/2022 (Philadelphia)
Obituary Preview: James Edward Woody Jr, affectionately known to family and friends as Tooch was born on March 9, 1980 to James Woody Sr, and the late Carolyn Woody.
James graduated from Philadelphia Youth Trade High School and was employed with the Philadelphia Fashion District as a floor technician (no one could buff floors like James).
James’ family was the joy of his life. He would go to the moon and back for them. He loved  cooking (especially fried chicken) playing pool, cards, and listening to music. James also-never forgot where he came from and enjoyed hanging out with his Pike Street, Butler Street, and Park Avenue family. He was a huge San Francisco 49er fan (despite being raised and surrounded by Eagle fans). Whenever you saw James, he was never without his chains.
We will miss his presence dearly and are grateful for all the time we got to spend with him.
James was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 12, 2021.  He was joyously welcomed into heaven by his mother, Carolyn Woody and his grandparents, Annie Powell, William Powell, and Emily Woody.
He leaves to cherish his memory his father, James Woody, sister Lenika Woody, fiancé Veronica Hollis, his children Nasir, Sanaa, Aniya, Jaden, Journi, Taun and Jahiya. His aunts Helen Cohen, Williedean Canada, and Francis Kirby. His uncles Leonard Cohen, Larry, Calvin, Tyrone, and Woodrow Woody; closest friends Harun Nesmith, Quinzel Alston, and Razeek Carwheel, and a host of great aunts, great uncles, cousins and friends.

Obituary Preview: If Roses grow in Heaven Lord, please pick a bunch for us. Place them in our Mother’s arms and tell her they’re from us. Tell her that we love her and miss her, and when she turns to smile, place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for a while. Because remembering her is easy, I do it every day, but there’s an ache within my heart
that will never go away.
