Steven Leon Evans - May 26, 1951 - April 22, 2024

Departed: 04/22/2024 (Mustang)
Obituary Preview: Steven Leon Evans May 26,1951 - April 22, 2024
Steve was born on May 26,1951, to Albert and Millie (Britt) Evans, in Okarche, OK. He was the second of four children, with an older sister and two younger brothers. Owner of Steve Evans Piano Service, Steve entered into the glory of his eternal home in heaven on Monday, April 22, 2024, at the age of 72. He resided in Mustang, OK, for the past 26 years with his wife Gloria.
Steve graduated from NW Classen High School in Oklahoma City in 1969. He attended OCU from 1969-1970. Many years later, he and his wife attended Charis Bible College, OKC Campus, and graduated in May 2019, both receiving an Associate of Biblical Studies degree.
Steve voluntarily enlisted in the US Air Force, serving from 1971-1975 at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX. Upon completion of Basic Training, he was recognized as an outstanding honor student and was offered and accepted the opportunity to serve as a Military Training Instructor. He trained many flights and received several commendations for being a top-notch trainer. Sergeant Steve Evans was honorably discharged in August of 1977, after faithfully serving the country that he loved.
Steve met his wife, Gloria Lingerfelt, when she was a sophomore and Steve was a junior at NW Classen High School. They were both in the renowned honor choir, The Cry-Slurs, and soon became high school sweethearts, dating for two and a half years. They were married on April 2,1971, and were happily married for 53 years. They were richly blessed with two children and three grandchildren. Steve was a true family man and loved vacationing with his wife and kids all over the country, from California to Florida, from Texas to New York, and they even crossed the borders into Canada and Mexico. They enjoyed going to theme parks, snow skiing in Colorado, water skiing in Oklahoma lakes, backyard swimming parties, fishing, and many trips to the family farm in Mustang, where they rode Jennifer’s pony, which was always an interesting and often crazy family experience. There was bike and motorcycle riding, and fun rides in Steve’s ’63 Chevy 2 Nova station wagon that he painted bright yellow and enjoyed working on as a hobby car. Even while working a full-time job, Steve made plenty of time for family, attending his son Steven’s soccer games, baseball games, and band concerts, as well as his daughter Jennifer’s musical theater productions, and watching her cheerlead at football and basketball games. There were so many fun times together with family and friends, enjoying church activities, birthday parties, and holidays with the always growing extended family. After becoming empty nesters, Steve and Gloria continued their vacations, often with friends and family as their travel companions, cruising to Cozumel and Alaska, driving to Yellowstone, flying to St. Maarten, and, most recently, to Israel with Victory Promise Mission. Steve knew how to enjoy life and share his joy with others. Proverbs 28:20 says, “A faithful man shall abound with blessings….” Steve was a faithful and honorable man and was truly blessed by the Lord.
Expertly trained, starting from an early age, Steve was tutored by his father, Albert Evans, owner of Albert Evans Piano Company. Steve developed into a master piano technician and became certified by the National Piano Technicians Guild. He enriched thousands of people’s lives in their homes, churches, and concert venues, during his 40+ years of piano service. He was loved by his customers and the feeling was mutual; he enjoyed blessing people and he loved what he did.
He also served his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as a pastor and through prophetic music ministry with his wife, Gloria. They lived a blessed life, ministering together as one, singing in choirs and providing special music in churches and on the local TBN station. They enjoyed leading worship, acting in illustrated sermons, preaching, helping to plant new churches, serving wherever needed, and engaging in evangelistic and mission outreaches locally, in Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic. They followed the Lord wherever He led them. Steve ministered the love of Jesus wherever he went, both in the church and outside the church walls. Whenever Steve finished tuning a piano, he would check his work with a song he made up that played every note on the keyboard. Then he would play a song or two that the Lord had given him, and the love and peace of God would fill the room, ministering to the hearts of the listeners. He also flowed freely in worship services with anointed songs of the Lord, as a prophetic psalmist, and he wrote many songs that were inspired by the Lord. Steve had a heart of gold, filled with love and compassion, grace, and kindness. He was a lot of fun and had a ready smile, loved to laugh, was a punster, sometimes ornery, and he never met a stranger. He was a loving husband, a great dad, and a much-loved PaPa to his grandchildren. He was an encourager, seeing the best in people, and he represented Jesus well. Steve was, and still is, a wonderful man of God; he has just changed addresses. Praise God, we can rejoice for Steve because he is now young again, healed, and more alive than ever, enjoying his reward. We know that his dear friends and family who went on before him celebrated as they greeted him at his homecoming. He will be greatly missed, but we know that because of our faith in Jesus, we will be together again someday, for all eternity. He hopes and prays that you will join him there too.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Albert Evans; mother, Millie Evans; and brother, Mark Evans. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Evans; son, Steven A. Evans; daughter, Jennifer Forrest and husband Jeff; and his three precious grandchildren, Journey, Chloe, and Joseph Forrest. He is also survived by his sister, Elaine Evans Walters and husband Dale; and brother, Phillip Evans, and many extended family members and friends.
Steve’s Celebration of Life Service will be held on May 30, 2024, at 2:00pm at Victory Church, located at 4300 N MacArthur Blvd, Warr Acres, OK 73122. Flowers may be sent to the church or to McNeil’s Funeral Service at 525 W SH-15, Mustang, OK 73064. Donations may be given to Sanctuary OK, 1817 S Morgan Rd, Oklahoma City, OK 73128 (website: sanctuaryok.com/give) or to Victory Church, 4300 N MacArthur Blvd, Warr Acres, OK, 73122 (website: contributions@victory.church). Carolyn Joann Weatherman - June 17, 1950 - April 19, 2024

Departed: 04/19/2024 (Mustang)
Obituary Preview: Carolyn J Weatherman, fondly known as Dolly to her family, lost her battle with cancer on April 19, 2024, at the age of 73.
Born June 17, 1950 in Western Pennsylvania to loving parents, Peter and Marie Sabo Jyachosky, she brought joy to those who knew her. Her early childhood on the family farm was humble but filled with love. As a child, her caring nature for animals grew as she bottle fed sheep, played with the family dog, fostered baby raccoons and dressed her cat in baby doll clothes.
At age 14, she showed her remarkable strength, taking on the responsibility of cooking and household duties when her mother tragically passed. Despite the challenges, she graduated from Frazier High School in 1968 and became an ARMY wife at a young age. At 19, she was living in military housing overseas in Germany where her two daughters were later welcomed.
After returning back to the US, she divorced and navigated the challenges of single motherhood, working tirelessly to support her girls. In 1981, Carol settled in Mustang, OK where she resided until her death.
In 1985, she found love again when she met Charlie Weatherman at a church group and the following year they married. After many years, she left her position as Assistant Vice President of Mortgage Lending at Liberty Bank to work full time with her husband in their HVAC company, Weatherman Mechanical. Together they built a life of cherished memories, bragged about their grandchildren and traveled in their RV.
Carol loved gardening, her fabric/wool stash, entertaining friends, family gatherings, driving her Mini Cooper, collecting Early American antiques and her dog, Molly. However, it was rug hooking that truly captured her heart. She fell in love with the art form and despite being self-taught, Carol became a renowned artist in the hooking industry; featured in numerous magazines and teaching classes nationwide. She founded the Scissortail Fiber Arts group, a local chapter of the Association of Traditional Hooking Arts (ATHA). Her online business, TheSampling, brought her immense pride, where she published newsletters featuring her own designs and early adaptations of rugs she created. Her business was more than just a marketplace; it was an array of hand picked treasures that were carefully selected by her for others to enjoy. It is heartbreaking that cancer not only took her life but her ability to continue doing what she loved.
She was predeceased by her parents, brothers Bernard and Peter Jyachosky and infant son. She is survived by her devoted husband of 37 years, William Weatherman “Charlie”, daughters Denise and Diana Dzara, granddaughters Olivia and Rachel Dzara and great-granddaughter, Carolyn. Stepdaughter, Keri Walton, and granddaughters Cayla and Kinslee Walton; her sister Barbara Jyachosky, aunt Teri Everson and numerous friends.
Join us in the celebration of Carol’s life on May 3, 2024 at 2:00 at McNeil’s Funeral Service in Mustang, OK.

In addition to his wife Jo, Jon is survived by his four children, Jonathan James II, Savanna Marilyn, Charlotte Elizabeth, and Grant Hunter, all of Mustang, OK; parents Jim and Patti Skelly, Ormond Beach, FL; brother Dan (Kat) Skelly and sister Rebecca Goans, both of Edmond, OK; in-laws John and Nancy Cain, Coats, NC; brothers-in-law Joshua (Emily) Cain, Willow Springs, NC and Philip (Rebecca) Cain, and sister-in-law Rebekah Cain (TBD) of Clayton, NC; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.
Jon was born in State College, Pennsylvania, on March 16, 1979, and grew up in Ormond Beach, Florida. Jon and Jo were married in 2006 and moved to the Oklahoma City area in 2008. He graduated from Liberty University in 2004 and received his MBA from The University of Central Oklahoma in 2010. He had the opportunity to use his considerable skills and talents in various positions throughout his career. At the time of his passing, Jon served as Vice President of Marketing for PayCompass, a company that he absolutely loved and enjoyed every minute with.
Jon was a large man with an even larger personality, and he enriched the lives of everyone who knew him. Fueled by love for his family and a passion for Mountain Dew, he spent his days leading, serving, and loving those surrounding him, everywhere he went. To know Jon, one knows how incredibly proud of each of his kids he was as their biggest advocate and fan. He was jokingly referred to as the “fun parent” who was quick to join in when playing games… which he would most certainly want to win and yet would beam with pride when handily beaten by one of his kids. He was an avid sports enthusiast in many ways: playing, coaching, and cheering on his favorite teams the Steelers, Pirates, Thunder, The OKC Broncos, and most importantly any team his kids played for.
He had an infectious zeal for life and a passion for lifelong learning. As a natural communicator, he excelled at public speaking and storytelling. God blessed him with a quick wit, a ready smile, and wisdom well beyond his years, all of which he shared freely and generously with everyone he encountered. He passionately loved his Church, Mustang Church of the Nazarene, and actively served in many areas. Jon was grateful every day for the true, life-giving freedom and joy found in recovery. He treasured the extended family that he cultivated through Celebrate Recovery. He cherished his trusted counselor and friend, Jason.
Jon had an enormous impact on so many people in his life. His beautiful legacy will live on through his family. He is fiercely missed by everyone who knew and loved him. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, May 8th at 10 am at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene. Jo and the kids have requested that all attendees wear their favorite OKC Broncos, Thunder, or Steelers gear and/or their brightest attire. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Jon Skelly Legacy Fund through GoFundMe

Emile Ruth Novotny - April 11, 1944 - April 12, 2024

Departed: 04/12/2024 (Mustang)
Obituary Preview: NOVOTNY, Emile Ruth (Couture) was born April 11, 1944 to Ruth Masoner and Leo Couture and raised in Oklahoma City. She was the second child and youngest in her family with her older sister, Sue, who she enjoyed as her best friend throughout life. She passed away on April 12th, one day after her 80th birthday. She had multiple health problems the last year of her life, that kept her bedridden, with husband, Eddie, being her constant care giver. Her mother remarried a military man when Emile was a preteen. Her stepfather was being transferred to Thailand during the Vietnam War, and Emile begged her mother to let her continue to live in Oklahoma City with her grandparents, and they agreed. This began a lifelong love of older people. She was devoted to her grandparents. She lived with them until she graduated Capitol Hill High School in 1962 and married her one true love, Millard Edward Novotny, lovingly known as "Ed or Eddie" in September,1962. Eddie and Emile raised three children, Jimmy, Deanna, and Scott. As a teenager, she was lively, friendly, and very pretty and made friends easily. She had high hopes of becoming a cosmetician and spent time in Cosmetology classes. She was chosen Queen of the Trade and Industrial Club her senior year in high school and was one of four contestants for Homecoming Queen. The summer after graduating high school, she entered the Miss Oklahoma City Pageant in which her talent was showing how to style and shape a woman's wig. Her retelling of this event was one of her many stories that left you laughing and laughing. She spent most of her life as wife and mother with a couple of occasions where she worked briefly outside the home as swim instructor for the YMCA, and in new construction where she and a friend did cleanup work on brand new homes, and as a teacher's aide working with children with developmental challenges. She was not raised Catholic but became Catholic after she married Eddie who was Catholic. Her church became very important to her, and she formed many lifelong friends as she did volunteer work in her church. She and Eddie became youth counselors during the time their children were teenagers. The kids in the group loved Emile, mainly, because she was a kid herself. She related to them on their level and made them all feel important and loved. She always came up with the most clever ideas for social gatherings and trips for these teenagers. One of her lifelong passions was fishing. She learned to love this sport from her grandfather as a little girl. Later in her life, she and Eddie bought themselves a fifth wheel and new pickup and began traveling throughout Oklahoma always searching for the best place to fish. If you were in a boat with her, and everyone was ready to pack up and head back to camp, she would yell out "No! We can't go yet, I've got a bite! Wait! Wait!" Pulling her away from fishing was almost impossible. She loved garage sales so much that when money was short and she didn't have the money to go garage sales, she would go to the blood bank and sell her blood for $10. That was because she had AB negative blood, the rarest blood type of all. She loved gambling and loved to make trips to Las Vegas and Tunica, Miss. Years later when casinos began opening up in Oklahoma, she made a weekly trip to go to those. Secretly, it was because she loved interacting with people. Emile made friends wherever she went. She would speak to strangers and learn all about them in a matter of minutes. So, mostly, the weekly gambling was to meet back up with the regulars and enjoy conversations with them. Emile loved animals and always had at least one dog, whom she loved spoiling. These pets were "my babies," she would say. She loved her grandchildren and loved bragging on each one. She bragged that they all graduated from college except the youngest one who has just begun his college career. She lived long enough to even have a great grandbaby that she lovingly showed every single photo of him to everyone. She was a fabulous storyteller, especially funny stories. She could have you laughing your head off at some of her escapades. One of the most endearing qualities of her storytelling was relating funny things that had happened to her, even if the story was embarrassing or put her in a ridiculous position. One time on a cruise, the theater staff used one night for the passengers to get up on stage and tell stories as entertainment. Emile took the challenge and went on stage in front of a microphone and a full audience in the auditorium and began telling funny happenings in her life. One of which was when she came out of a bathroom with toilet paper hanging out of her pants that was at least 10 feet long! She had the audience roaring out loud and clapping. She was a natural born comedian. She was famous for her family gatherings. She hosted every Thanksgiving and every Christmas and invited outside people to come and share as well. She was well known for her noodles and her cheese balls that she made every holiday. The entire family has wonderful memories of these family get togethers. She made the effort to keep in contact with not only friends, but also cousins, aunts, and uncles. She truly cared about people and what was going on in their lives. When cell phones became all the rage, her grandchildren asked her to "text" them her messages. She told them, "No, I do not like this texting. I want to hear your voice, I want you to tell me what's going on in your life and a person can't do that with texting. So, I'm still going to call you." She was the instigator in setting up a yearly family reunion at Marval campgrounds in Gore, Oklahoma. Every year for many, many years the family got together over the Halloween weekend, where there were chili contests, prizes for the best Halloween costumes, and sitting around the campfire at night telling family stories. All of the grandchildren remember these times as great fun with MeeMaw and PawPaw. Two of Eddie's favorite recipes were "Raisin Pie" and "Kolaches." She spent many years trying to perfect these recipes in order to show her love for him. Then one time when she was trying to impress Eddie with her cooking skills, she decided to make homemade bread rolls, a recipe given to her by her grandmother. As the bread dough began to rise, she began pinching off small bits of the raw dough to eat and by that evening her stomach had ballooned way out where she looked like she was pregnant. She was miserable and called her grandmother to tell her how sick she was and asked what could be done? Her grandmother said "Emile, you silly girl, you've got bread dough rising inside your stomach, no wonder it's protruding!" She never attempted bread roll making again. Emile was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth Masoner and Leo Couture and her youngest son, Lee Scott Novotny. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Eddie; her older sister, Marjorie Sue Cawood, her oldest son, Jimmy and his wife, Susan, and their three children, Julie, Daniel, Brandon and Julie’s husband Barrett, and their baby boy Austin. Also, by their daughter Deanna and husband Steve Hausam and their two daughters, Haley and Kelsey and husband, Kyle. And by Scott's two children, Carlea and Riley Novotny and wife Nikki. And a special friend who was like a brother to her, Bob Dixon. I envision her now as she's making her way up to Heaven, that when she meets God, she says to Him, "Hold on! Wait! I've got a bite on my fishing pole!" Emile was so loved not only by her children and grandchildren, but by her many, many friends and relatives. She will forever be remembered, never forgotten. This obituary was lovingly written by Colleen Matheny. The family would like to express a special thanks for the wonderful help and care given by Tender Care Hospice, Pastor Mark Stahl, Trisha Bishop, and Red Dirt Sitters, and longtime family friend Colleen Matheny. Memorial Services for Emile will be a graveside service at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, 4400 S Meridian, Oklahoma City, OK, 73159, at 10:30am on Wednesday June 5, 2024, followed by lunch at Whispering Creek (Clubhouse), 5712 Goldfinger Rd, Oklahoma City, OK, 73179.

David Allen Webb - August 24, 1962 - April 06, 2024

Departed: 04/06/2024 (Mustang)
Obituary Preview: David Allen Webb, age 61, died Saturday, April 6, 2024. He was born August 24, 1962, in Lindsay, OK to Glen and Mary (McDaniel) Webb. He grew up in Lindsay and spent most of his adult life working in the oil field industry. David enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing the guitar, but his love came from his two girls and being “PaPa” to his grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings: Diana Perry, Drenda Baker, Donna Webb and Dennis Webb. David is survived by his two daughters; Jessica Corrales and husband Alfredo and Amanda Vowell and husband Travis, three grandchildren; Braelyn, Deagen and Allie, as well as his brother; Donald Webb and wife Anita and sister; Deborah Mediavilla and husband Frank.
He was known for being a kind and generous person, which is why he had so many friends. He was the type of man that would strike up a conversation with any stranger, always finding something they have in common to talk about. He was a great storyteller; he always had a story for the dinner table. He was the type of man that loves telling jokes and putting a smile on everyone's face, some might be dirty, but that's the oilfield way. He enjoyed football season and was an OU fan. David was also a great cook, he loved finding new recipes and trying them out. That was 1 of the many skills he taught his daughters. He was the type of man that had to keep busy all the time, if he wasn't working, he was building something or fixing things around the house. David was big on teaching his daughters and even his grandchildren the importance that you’re never too young or too old to learn something new. Whether that was changing the oil in a vehicle, or shooting a gun and a bow, cooking, using tools, playing billiards, fish, throwing darts, playing guitar, and learning to love 80s rock, just to name a few. He knew knowing how to do those little things in life, would go a long way.
Now it's up to all of us to carry on the memory and legacy of David, how kind he was, how strong willed he was, teaching us to be kind to everyone you meet, loving your family, working hard, be honest, this is just some of what he leaves behind. For many of you, that may be different but what we all can agree on together, was David is and always will be loved for the amazing man he was in this life and now to the next. After the graveside service there will be a luncheon held 2:30-3:00PM at the Erin Springs Church of God, 14028 County Road, Lindsay, OK 73052
