Kathy was born on May 8, 1961, in Mattoon; the daughter of James Edward and Peggy Jean (Grimes) Pankey. She married Donald Gandy on July 2, 2011, in Mattoon; he survives. Kathy was an avid pool player and bowler for many years. She enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with her grandchildren. Kathy loved going to the beach. Kathy worked at Trailmobile for many years before they closed their doors and also worked as a bus driver in years past for the Charleston school district. More recently, Kathy was a bartender at Time Out Lounge along with Pats Lounge both in Mattoon.
She is survived by her husband, Donald of Mattoon; son, Cody James (Nakaela Miller) Simpson of Charleston; daughters, Tiffanie Nicole (Cord Eich) Carrasco of Charleston, Andrea Dawn (Kyle) Wiley of Charleston, and Dasha Lynn (James) Gormley of Altamont; brothers, Larry (Kim) Pankey of Toledo and Eric (Estrella) Pankey of Charleston; sisters, Mary (Bill) Bradley of Charleston, Sue (Lyle) Hunter of Charleston, Lisa Sparks of Ashmore and Lori (Charlie) Lampley of Charleston; grandchildren, Gavin, BrookLynn, Landon, Shavi, Fabiyan, Axel, Quinn, Lola, Lanie, Lucas, Logan, Landry, Liam, McKinleigh, Wyatt, Grant, Neriah, Briggs, & Maggie; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Sophia. She married Cecil Dwayne England on October 1, 1966, in Sullivan; he preceded her in death on October 9, 2021. Her home church was Oak Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed her flowers, gardening, quilting and researching genealogy.
She is survived by her sons, Andrew England of Wyoming, Thad (Peggy Bonilla) England of Pana and Nathaniel (April) England of Tower Hill; brothers, Robert Davis, Roger (Kathleen) Davis, John Davis, Eddie (Diane) Davis, Chris (Clara) Davis, Brian (Tracy) Davis, Jeff (Penny) Davis and Kenny (Leta) Davis all of Sullivan; sisters, Cathy (John) Elkin and Becky (Mike) Davis both of Sullivan. Carolyn is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband of 55 years, Cecil Dwayne England.

Funeral services will be held at 3pm on Sunday, May 5th at Smyser Christian Church, rural Gays. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Smyser Cemetery, rural Gays. Memorials may be made to Smyser Christian Church. McMullin-Young Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation of Kathy, with SBL Hospice, for her loving care.
Nancy was born March 1, 1938, to George and Lucille Johnson of Windsor. Nancy lost her father in WWII at age 6. Lucille raised Nancy and her siblings, Jim and Joyce, and after they graduated college, she married Fred Hammer who loved the family as his own. Nancy graduated as valedictorian at Windsor High School and went on to attend the University of Illinois where she earned her teaching degree in Home Economics.
Nancy married Dane Cole Henderson on August 9, 1959 in a double wedding, alongside her sister, Joyce, who married John Henderson, Dane’s brother. Nancy and Dane had four children: Cindy (Mitch) Daily, Randy (Jody) Henderson, Sherrie (Eric) Grohler, Lyle (Carolyn) Henderson; 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 3 more on the way. Nancy spent her life lovingly caring for and raising her family and she was her happiest when spending time with them. She worked for 15 years at RR Donnelly to help provide for the family. Nancy loved flower gardening, mowing her beautiful lawn, and camping. She enjoyed traveling with Dane in their RV throughout the southern states, spending most winters there.
She served all of her adult life as a member of Smyser Christian Church where she was a beautiful example of humble faith. Her faith has continued on through her children and grandchildren.
Nancy is survived by Dane, her loving husband of nearly 65 years. Rarely were the two apart from each other and they could always be seen holding hands.
While we celebrate Nancy’s life here with us, we rejoice in her eternal life with Christ.

Aaron was born April 6, 1975, in Shelbyville; the son of James Brent Fogleman and Deborah Lee (Bruce) Adams. He married Rachel Elizabeth Bohannan; she survives. Aaron loved hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting and working on his truck. He helped raise many kids that needed him. He loved his family and friends very much.
He is survived by his wife, Rachel Elizabeth Fogleman; children, Rebecka Rachelle Bohannan Fogleman, Harley Donald Wehrle, Trenten Dean Szachnitowski, Tyler Franklin Derry and Alisha Marie Morland; mother, Deborah (Ronnie) Adams; father, James Brent (Debra) Fogleman; sisters, Kayla Forker and Hannah Lawson; grandchildren, Aliza Grace Szachnitowski, Abigail Renee Szachnitowski, and two identical twin grandsons due in August; aunts, Terry Perry and Janon Park. He was also blessed to help raise and love the Kendall Family Crew Thomas, Arianna and Alexis, the Sparks Family Crew, Michael, Matthew, Thomas and Mary.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Jeannine Bruce and Jim and Betty Fogleman.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2024, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: 7426 Country Club Rd, Mattoon, IL 61938 Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Bethany. Fatima's life was filled with remarkable love and devotion. From her first marriage, she is survived by three daughters: Erika, Elida, and Suellen, who brought immense joy to her life and remain as her lasting legacy. Fatima's blended family also includes three stepchildren, all of whom she loved deeply.
In 2009, Fatima suffered a great loss when her husband Corintho passed away. Despite this tragedy, she found love again and married Ken Nichols. They shared nearly 14 wonderful years together, marked by their sealing in the Provo Utah Temple in 2010. Fatima was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having converted to the church 38 years ago. Her commitment to the gospel and temple work inspired many, and she leaves behind a legacy of faith, hope, and love for eternal families.
Fatima's early life was challenging, but she overcame adversity with courage and determination. She made it her mission to celebrate her children's successes, and her passion for their happiness knew no bounds. Fatima also had a great love for painting and sewing and an infectious sense of humor. She could light up a room with her laughter and brought joy to everyone she met.
Fatima was in the process of formalizing her U.S. citizenship, a testament to her dreams and commitment to her family in their new home. Her dedication to her family and her faith was unwavering, and she will be remembered for her strength, compassion, and love.
Fatima is survived by her husband, Ken Nichols; her three children, Erika, Elida, and Suellen; her 10 grandchildren; and her step-children, Nathan Nichols, Laura Whitaker and Jason Nichols; she is also survived by her step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

He was born on October 22, 1951 to Roy and Doras Hutchcraft in Decatur, IL. Rick graduated from Sullivan High School in 1969 and joined the US Army, where he served for six years. Rick worked in many fields but most notably in management for Montgomery Ward stores in Normal and Peoria for over 15 years and as a Service Advisor for O’Brien and Mike Miller Automotive in Bloomington and Peoria before retiring in 2012.
Rick had a lifelong love of cars and Nascar. He was known for his generous smile, thoughtful advice, wit, and most of all, his deep love and devotion for his family. His later years were more enriched by the time he spent with each one.
Rick is survived by his children Shani (Chris) Allen, Shanon (Mike) Wilson, Sarah (Luna) Graves, Megan (Jason) Holubiak, and Jacob (Megan) Hutchcraft, his grandchildren Mike (Jacoba) Ramasanto, Nic (Emanda) Ramasanto, CJ (Kim) Allen, Kylie (Derek) Wehrmann, Ryan, Jake, and Joe Wilson, Zephyr and Scout Graves, and Maren Holubiak, step-grandchild Ben Holubiak, and great-grandchildren Payton, Abby, Allie, Michael, Milo, Malachi, and Reed. He also leaves behind his fiancé Linda Richardson and nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Doras, his siblings Ron Hutchcraft and Judy Hengst, and his wife of just under 30 years, Carol Hutchcraft.

John is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Powell on July 17, 1971, in Sunnymead, CA; he preceded her in death on April 17, 2019. Mary was a member of the New Beginnings in Sullivan. She worked various jobs, including Brachs Candy Factory and retired as a house keeper. She was well known around the town of Sullivan as “The Dog Lady” as she was always walking her two dogs.
She is survived by her half-sister, Martha (George) Hitchens of Gulfport, MS.

Sanders in June 1986; he preceded her in death on Jan 25, 2023. She owned Fashions 4-U in Sullivan. She was an EIU Graduate. Maurene was a member of the Church of God in Lovington. She and Don enjoyed traveling and opening up their shop in Arizona. Maurene loved people and had a giving heart.
She is survived by her sons, Mark (Theresa) Munch of Bethany and Michael Munch of Sullivan; daughter, Sandy (Joe) Harchous of Allenville; step-son, Donald L. (Edwin) Sanders of Wilton Manor, FL; step-daughters, Diana Calhoun of Bethany and Cheryl (Randy) Florey of Jonesboro; sister, Linda Jarand of Sullivan. Maurene is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren and several great, great-great and step-great grandchildren.

Dot was born September 6, 1922, in Findlay; the daughter of Robert Lawrence and Dorothy Blanche (Crouch) Matheson. She married Bill Emel and later went on to marry Carl Craig on December 1, 1961, in Bethany; he preceded her in death in May 2006. Dot was a member of the First Christian Church, American Legion Auxiliary, and a lifelong member of VFW Post #6410 Auxiliary. She worked as a school cook, and a pie and noodle maker at Sharon’s Family Restaurant. Dot along with her sisters created the Seven Sisters Cookbook and sold hundreds of copies. She loved making trips to Nevada to play the slot machines, attending American Legion Thursday night Bingo and buying lottery tickets.
She is survived by her sons, Roger Emel of Bethany, Ronald (Linda) Emel of Bethany, Dick (Barb) Emel of Bethany, Bob Emel of Sullivan and J.R. (Cathrine) Craig of Sullivan; daughter, Anne Loy (Charlie) Tegarden of Kingman, AZ; daughter-in-law, Sharon Emel of Sullivan. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Mike was born on October 28, 1946, in Decatur, Illinois, to parents Winona "Tiny" Trailor-Berner and Albert R. Berner. He married Samantha Shellabarger on June 13, 1992, and together, they had a son named Benjamin in January 1998. Mike served in the Army. He was a proud member of the Sullivan American Legion Post #68. Mike spent most of his life working hard to care for his family. He was an avid lover of the outdoors and enjoyed fixing things. Mike served as Commander of the Sullivan American Legion Post #68 In his retirement, he mowed and cared for the J&R Do Little Farm. He also enjoyed driving around town with his morning coffee and playing pool league at Nite Al's with the occasional bartending gig.
Before his passing, Mike traveled around forty-eight states with his wife and son, fulfilling a lifelong dream. Mike was well-known and loved by many. He is survived by his wife, Samantha; his mother-in-law Joyce Shellabarger; his children, Benjamin Berner of Norman, OK, Patricia Coburn of Decatur, Michael Pitts of Sullivan, Johnny Berner of Lovington, Ryan Berner of Bethany; step-daughters, Chrissy Schumacher of Sullivan and Chastity Foster of Lovington; brother, Roger (Lynn) Berner of Sullivan; nephew, Jason Berner of Schererville, IN; niece,

Dan worked for Graber Construction Co. for nineteen and a half years, then a few years for Dick Brown, before becoming a self-employed carpenter, doing a lot of remodel jobs in the Sullivan area. Dan enjoyed his job and the people he met while on the job. After retiring from construction, he became a Taxi Driver for the Amish, another job he loved and was dedicated to. Some of his long-distance travels took him places he had not heard of, and he always wanted his wife to travel with him on trips. Dan attended The Vineyard Church in Sullivan. Chief was proud of his Native American Heritage of the Oglala Lakota Tribe on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.

Jim was born December 15, 1956, in Decatur; the son of James William Holaday Sr. and Florence (Kremen) Holaday. He married his dear wife of 37 years, Julie Faye Young, on January 12, 1984 in Columbus, Ohio. After graduating from the University of Illinois where he met his wife, he managed the Orpheum Theater in Champaign before moving to Columbus, Ohio, where he started his work for the federal government. He later relocated to Virginia, near Washington DC. Retiring after 28 years of work with the federal government, he and Julie moved to Pittsburgh. Jim and Julie enjoyed both domestic and international travel in retirement. Most recently, Jim was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, delivering blood products to medical facilities in the Pittsburgh area.
Growing up, Jim enjoyed camping, earned the rank of Eagle Scout, attended Philmont Scout Ranch, and helped develop a walking trail around Lake Shelbyville. He also enjoyed photography, and driving his blue 1964 Jeep. He maintained his interest in Sullivan events, keeping a subscription to the local Sullivan newspaper throughout his life.
Jim is survived by his brother, John (Valerie) Holaday of Lake Zurich, Illinois. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Julie Young; father, James William Holaday Sr. and mother, Florence Holaday.
