Departed: 11/17/2022 (Kansas City)
Obituary Preview: Lorene Golubski Chambers of Kansas City, Kansas passed away on November 17, 2022
Lorene was born in 1925 to Florian and Helen (Jaster) Dombroski in Pulaskifield, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Eugene and Lawrence and triplets, Jacobus, Helena and John who with their mother died shortly after childbirth in 1930.
Her Father died in November of 1941 but the children grew up on their farm in Pulaskifield during the Great Depression milking their three cows and with the support from family and friends.
Mom would tell stories of when neighbors would come to the Dombroski house, move the furniture and with neighbors playing guitars and washboards would dance all night.
Mom loved music and when brother Gene and she would dance a polka it was fast and furious and you were wise to just get out of the way. The popular dance hall however was Yonkerville about five miles from home. Mom would also have stories of the number of people who would cram into a model T and head to Younkerville on weekends, your were never sure if the vehicle would make it there or back! At Younkerville you would hear live music or the juke box playing Hank Williams and other country artists of the day. Mom lost her brother Lawrence known as Oscar shortly after his return from World War II in a car accident
Lorene married Richard Golubski in 1946 and they moved to Kansas city to find work. Lorene had a number of jobs in Kansas city but worked the longest at the Sealright company in the Fairfax district with a number of other Polish relatives. Her two sons also worked there for periods of time. Besides dancing, Lorene enjoyed have a "coolie" or a Highball or a glass of "Morgan" David wine, making rice bags, fishing and playing Polish poker. Her favorite game was "Spit in the ocean"
Her husband Richard died in 1967 and her two sons would cause her many a sleepless night, but all of her sons friends were always welcomed at Mrs. Golubski's house.
Lorene married Bud Chambers in 1972 and she found another love, traveling the country in a Winnebago. She and Bud met many friends on their travels, and used their metal detectors to search for treasures. All of their trips would include a stop at a casino. Mom and Bud moved to Monett, Missouri shortly after retirement to be close to her brother Gene and other relatives in nearby Pulaskifield. Mom loved all animals, and could barely watch killing ducks with her sister-in-law, Clara, but it was necessary to make duck blood soup(Czarnina) a Polish favorite. Clara would say, "Oh c'mon Sally, they're just ducks!"
Surviving are her sons, Richard and wife Bobbie, Lawrence and wife Virginia, grandchildren Ali Lough(Jonas), Richard "Caz" Golubski (Jennifer), Adam Golubski(Lauren), Emily Beecher(James) and ten great grandchildren. She also leaves many nieces and nephews, from the Golubski, Dombroski, Jaster, and Bilski families.
The memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 29th at Christ the King Catholic Church in Kansas City, Kansas.

Leland "Keith" Larimore - November 12, 1940 - September 25, 2022

Departed: 09/25/2022 (Kansas City)
Obituary Preview: Dr. (Leland) Keith Larimore, Ph.D., age 81, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 25, 2022, at his home in the Anthology Senior Living facility of Overland Park, Kansas (Kansas City).
Keith was born in,1940, in Kansas City, Missouri, son of the late John Keith and Aurealia Farris Larimore. He moved to Fort Scott, Kansas, around the age of 14 and then to Joplin a couple of years later. During his teen years, Keith had a passion for cars and drag racing. His pride and joy at that time was a 1951 Ford that provided him with a creative outlet to showcase his artistic talents via a custom-designed pinstripe flame job on the outside, as well as tuck-and-roll upholstery he installed on the inside. He loved racing, winning most of the competitions he entered and taking home numerous first-place trophies. During these years, he attended Joplin High School, from which he graduated in 1959.
Keith continued his education, putting himself through college, earning an Associates Degree from Jasper County Community College (formerly Joplin Junior College), his Bachelor's Degree from Kansas State College of Pittsburg (currently Pittsburg State University), his Masters degree in one year from the University of Oklahoma, and his Doctorate from the University of Arkansas. By this time, he was married to his high school sweetheart, Sherry, and they had two children with a third on the way. Whenever he was not attending classes, he was working to pay for college and to support his family, initially working nights and weekends at the old Safeway in Joplin at 26th and Main. He later taught as a Graduate Assistant at the University of Arkansas while obtaining his Ph.D., and he also capitalized on his artistic abilities, earning money by designing and selling billboards. In 1966, at the age of 26, he was recruited and hired to be the first Dean of the Business Administration Division (the position was referred to as Division Chairman before the term Dean was adopted for each School or College) at a new four-year higher education institution that was to open in the Fall of 1967 as Missouri Southern College (formerly Jasper County Community College, subsequently Missouri Southern State College and currently Missouri Southern State University). Keith was instrumental in the development of the new Business Administration curriculum which had to be designed to facilitate a four-year baccalaureate degree. He was also responsible for the recruiting and hiring of new faculty. Keith set high standards insisting that the Business faculty had  Doctorate credentials upon hiring or were in the process of working towards their Ph.D.
In 1971, Keith took a one-year leave as Dean to participate in an overseas teaching program that was established by the University of  Arkansas Graduate School of Business in conjunction with the Air Force. In this role, he taught  graduate courses to Officers of the military, mainly in the fields of marketing, management and economics in Izmir, Turkey, and Athens, Greece. He returned to his position as Dean from 1972 through 1976 when he then chose to step away from managing the Business Administration Division and return to his primary passion, teaching, which enabled him to do what he loved most, and felt was most rewarding, interacting with his students. Keith loved his students, and they loved him. Stepping away from management also gave him more time on the personal front  to spend with his family as well as partake in a multitude of hobbies including golfing, hunting, fishing, boating, and bowling. Keith also had a flair for woodworking and enjoyed building cabinets and furniture. His desire to construct things with his own hands led him to take on the responsibility of General Contractor when building his family's new home in the Sunnyvale subdivision of Joplin, much of it he built himself, (with some help from family and friends), in eight months from March to October 1976. On the professional front, in addition to teaching, Keith established a private management consulting business, conducting professional leadership and management seminars primarily to Chamber of Commerce organizations. He also became a highly sought after expert witness in personal injury cases, providing testimony outlining the economic value of the victim's financial loss over a normal life expectancy, due to an injury. Simultaneous to his private businesses, Keith continued teaching at Missouri Southern State College until the end of 1988 and then moved to Virginia to accept a full professorship position at Radford University, where he taught both graduate and undergraduate courses until 2001. While at Radford, he participated in a faculty and student exchange program with Belgium, teaching both Radford and international students at the University of Antwerp for a period of time. Additionally, Keith had a zeal for research and as a result, authored numerous articles and white papers which were published in a variety of business publications, including the Wall Street Journal, over the course of his career. While in Joplin he was a member of, and served as President of the Joplin Exchange Club, as well as a member of the Joplin Jaycees. In Radford, he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and Ducks Unlimited. At the age of 60, a brain aneurysm in March of 2001 forced Keith into early retirement. Prior to the aneurysm, he'd planned to take up a variety of artistic endeavors upon retirement, including painting. He was also very much looking forward to spending more time deep sea fishing at the Outer Banks (where his ashes will be spread) on his beloved boat, appropriately named "Scholar Ship"
After several years of dating, Keith married the love of his life, Sherry, on March 25, 1961. Keith and Sherry were married for more than 61 years. They had one daughter, Johnna Larimore, and two sons, Larry (Lawrence) Larimore, and Lee (Leland) Larimore. Lee preceded Keith in death on June 13, 2013. Keith is survived by his loving and devoted wife Sherry Larimore of Kansas City, daughter Johnna Larimore Tupper and Jeff Tupper of Kansas City, son Larry Larimore and wife Pam Larimore of Joplin; four grandchildren, Jacob Tupper (Brittany) of Denver, Jordan Larimore (Lakin) of Joplin, Jaxon Tupper (Kacy Nienstedt) of Denver, Kenzie Larimore Powderly (Jack) of Springfield, Mo., and one step grandchild Tony Sforunato (Jaimie) of Kansas City; three great grandchildren, Avery Larimore, Owen Powderly, Hudson Larimore; one sister, Donna Mealman, one sister-in-law, Delilah Petrus (Jim); one niece, Karen Weeks (Kent) and one nephew, Mike Mealman. Keith's family is hosting his Life Celebration Open House on Sunday, Oct. 9, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Twin Hills Country Club, 2019 S. Country Club Dr. Joplin, Mo. Drinks and Appetizers will be served throughout and group story sharing will start at 3 p.m. All will gather to share stories, recall memories, laugh, cry and remember Keith, an amazing man, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, leader, teacher, mentor and friend. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to share something about Keith. Perhaps think about what he did to make you laugh. What did you learn from him? What did you admire about him? What do you remember most about him?
The family sincerely thanks Advanced Hospice of Kansas City for taking such loving and compassionate care of Keith in his last few months, and wants to express special gratitude to Molly and Melissa, as well as Amber, Jessica and Belle. Memorial donations in Keith's name be made to Advanced Hospice of Kansas City, 9233 Ward Parkway Suite 275, Kansas City, Mo., 64114. Judy was the youngest child of Karl and Vivian Smith.  She was born and raised in Kanas City, Kansas and graduated from Wyandotte High School, where she spent many years serving as the school mascot. Yes, she was a life-long “Dotte”.  After high school, she married the love of her life, David Pope.  She loved him so much she married him twice!
Judy worked for Southwestern Bell/AT&T and retired from there in 1993.  After her husband’s passing, she went back to school at the age of 50 to become a medical assistant.  She worked as an assistant to Dr. Michael Parra for over 10 years.  At work she was known as the office “mom” and had quite the sense of humor. Judy enjoyed many activities during her years, such as bowling, poker and traveling, just to name a few.  She loved listening to her daughter’s singing performances, and watching her sons play ball, which is something she continued to enjoy with her granddaughters and great grandkids.  In her youth, Judy was athletic and liked competition and later in life, she even beat lung cancer!
Judy loved celebrations with family.  No matter the occasion, Judy was always early and never arrived empty-handed. Judy enjoyed cooking, and it always gave her family a laugh when she would bring an abundance of mashed potatoes to gatherings.  On a typical day, you could find Judy watching her shows, which included Ellen, Rachel Ray, or a cooking show, and perfecting her new skill of sewing.
Judy was preceded in death by parents, Karl and Vivian Smith, sister Barbara (Edward) Placke, and her husband, David Pope.
She is survived by brother, Gary Smith (Texas); children, Tim Pope (Kansas City, MO), Julie (William) Feden (Tonganoxie, KS), Steven (Katie) Pope (Kansas City, KS); Grandchildren Heather (Nicholas) McCarty, Hillary (Anthony) Schuberger, Madison Pope, Eva Jo Kibar, and Ryker Pope; Great-grandchildren William, Waylon and Jonnie McCarty and Rowden, Henley, and Rip Schuberger.  She is also survived by countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and life-long friends including the Spaws, the Spencers, and the Poterbins.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 from 5:30-7pm, and to share memories and stories from 7-7:30pm at Mary Butler Meyers Funeral Home, 6300 Parallel Pkwy, Kansas City, KS.  Funeral service will be Thursday, June 2, 2022, 10:00am at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church 1086 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS.  Luncheon at the parish hall will follow the service.
It was Judy’s wish that any donations made be sent to The Lung Cancer Research Foundation or The First Responder Golf Foundation.

Virgina Delgado - August 11, 1922 - April 19, 2022

Departed: 04/19/2022 (Kansas City)
Obituary Preview: Virginia Delgado, 99, originally of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at the Villages of Jackson Creek, Independence, Missouri. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary-St Anthony Catholic Church, 615 7th Street, Kansas City, KS. 66101 on Tuesday, April 26, 2022.  Visitation will be at 9:00 AM; Rosary at 9:45 and Mass at 10:00AM.
Virginia was born to Vita and George Alonge on August 11, 1922.  After spending much of her teen and early adult years embroidering, and sewing for others, she married a handsome sailor, named Joe Delgado.  Aunt Virginia (also known by her Sicilian name as Aunt Cha) was always friendly and outgoing.  She enjoyed dancing the polka at family weddings and welcoming newcomers into the fold.
Many of her nieces and nephews considered her to be one of their favorite aunts. She, in turn, was very proud of all her family members, displaying pictures and remembrances of them throughout her home. For many years she enjoyed making crocheted scarves or afghans for all the new babies in  the family.  She could sit and talk and never miss a stitch! Aunt Virginia was a strong, determined soul who blessed us with 99 + years. Even at age 90, she could often be found on a Sunday morning, walking five or six blocks to All Saints Church.  She had a great devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe and cherished the Blessed Mother statue that overlooked the irises in her garden.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Joe Delgado in 1999, and is survived by many nieces and nephews who have loved her and will miss her greatly. Arrangements: Mary Butler Meyers Funeral Home, 6300 Parallel Pkwy., KCK 66102
