Obituary Preview: Herbert Bernard Downing, Sr., age 88 of Secane, passed peacefully Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at his home.
Born and raised in Southwest Philadelphia, Herbert was a graduate of Overbrook High School Class of 1955. Following high school, he served in the U.S. Air Force, and was an Honorably discharged Veteran.
Herbert worked as an assembler, for over 30 years, at The Budd Company steel manufacturing plant in Philadelphia until his retirement.
He was an avid league bowler, a talented artist skilled at freehand drawings and enjoyed his days at the Good Neighbor Senior Center in Sharon Hill.
“Dr. Burn” as he fondly called himself and which may or may not have been a self-appointed nickname, was a fun-loving character who loved life. He was also called Daddy and Pop-pop by the most important people in his life, who he enjoyed spending time with, and they will always remember their time with him fondly.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Gerald and Charles.
Herbert is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rosa Lee (nee Dillingham) Downing; his children, Herbert B. Downing, Jr. (Marlene) and Daniella Guerrero (Godwin); his granddaughers, Amber & Amirah Guerrero and Danielle (Kashif) Hadley; and great-grandchildren, Josiah, Asahd, Jayden, Eden, Emmanuel and Eli'sha. He is also survived by his siblings, Germaine and Estella; sister-in-law, Bessie Downing; niece, Vivian Andrews; and a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Obituary Preview: Eileen Knox, 87 of North Wales, PA passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2023.
Born in Chester, PA, Eileen would later move to Collingdale, PA. where she met the boy who she would later marry while working in a gift shop together during her grade school years. She attended Notre Dame High School and found lifelong friends there whom she would refer to as her sorority sisters well into her later years.
She was predeceased by her parents Alexander and Jean and her daughter, Kellie.
Eileen is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Joseph Knox, son Joseph Knox and his wife Markia Archuleta, daughters Pam Knox and Janine Knox, brother Alexander, her sister Sue McNamara, 6 grandchildren Christian, Hannah, Austin, Will, Jessica and Evan and her nieces and nephews.
While she held jobs in hospital medical records and as a pharmacy clerk, motherhood was Eileen’s calling in life. She was at her best pouring out her love on her four children. When they were young, she volunteered at their elementary school library and racked up countless miles taking them to lessons, scouting events, and other activities.
Her most treasured role beyond motherhood was that of being grandmother to her grandchildren. With an endless supply of selfless love, she found great joy in spending time with her grandchildren and counted them among her greatest blessings.
The center of her life by far was her husband, Joe. Her life was made richer by his constant love and companionship. Whether they were on the dance floor, travelling, or raising a glass in celebration of life and each other, much of her life’s joy came from time spent together.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 12, 2023, from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Church, 500 Woodlawn Avenue, Collingdale, PA, 19023. Followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM.
Interment will follow in Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield.

Born and raised in Chester, Christine was the daughter of the late William T. and Mary Elizabeth (nee McNeil) Giffins. She was a graduate of Chester High School.
Christine met and married her husband, and together they moved to Darby, where she worked as a crossing guard at 14th & Main Sts. The family then moved to Aldan where they have been longtime residents.
An Elvis fan, with a love for animals; Christine enjoyed relaxing in front of the TV watching her favorite programs. She also enjoyed the family trips to Wildwood for vacations.
Along with her parents, she is predeceased by her beloved husband of over 50 years, Woodrow W. Wyatt, Jr., and her brother, Harry Giffins.
She is survived by her sons, Woodrow (Ashley) Wyatt, III and Mark (Kelly) Wyatt; and grandchildren, Aaliyah & Aiden Wyatt and Brielle Hamilton. She is also survived by her siblings, John Giffins, William Giffins, Richard Giffins and Barbara Guyer.

Fred was an honorably discharged, U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, who served during the Korean War as an engine operator. He retired from Devereux School, where he worked for many years as a printing and vocational teacher.
A member of the VFW, Fred enjoyed going to church. In his leisure, he could be found fishing and gardening.Fredrick is survived by his many cousins, Diane Shea, Chuck (Cay) Shea, Brenda (Tom) Garver, Belinda (Tom) Huesman, Allen (Amanda) Soth and Chuck Fraley.

Joey was a sports fanatic and excelled at all things physical. An avid baseball, football, and basketball player from a young age, he also loved all Philly sports teams and enjoyed going to games at the stadiums.
