Obituary Preview: Alice Elizabeth Stephens, a lifelong resident of New Rochelle, New York, passed away on May 23, 2024 in the home she kept for 60 years on Union Street, surrounded by her family. She was 85.She was born Alice Elizabeth Clarke on November 6, 1938 in New Rochelle to the late John and Mollie (Deenihan) Clarke, Irish immigrants from County Longford and County Kerry, and she grew up on Union Street in a household suffused with Fenian spirit just up the street from the home in which she died. Halina M. Stellmaszyk - June 30, 1929 - March 23, 2024

Departed: 03/23/2024 (New Rochelle)
Obituary Preview: Halina M. Stellmaszyk, a 58 year resident of New Rochelle, NY, died peacefully on March 23, 2024 at the age of 94.
Halina came from humble beginnings. She was born on June 30,1929 in Leszno (Zaborowo), Poland. She grew up during World War II in Nazi occupied Poland. At the tender age of 10, she was forced to work for the occupiers until the war ended in 1945.
After the liberation of Poland, Halina attended and completed nursing school in Lodz, Poland. She then returned to her hometown to become a valuable member of the medical community. Her profession consumed her time and energy. Taking care of people was her passion and remained so for over 70 years.
Halina married her husband, Edward, in Poland in 1965. She came to the United States in 1966 where she continued to work as a nurse.
Halina had to overcome many hardships in her life. Her formidable years were tumultuous times and her marriage to Edward was, sadly, short lived as her beloved husband passed away after only thirteen years together. Halina became a single mother working, at times, several jobs at once to support her two daughters.
Fortunately, Halina was surrounded by many good people.
Halina's faith in God was very deep. She believed that, with God, anything is possible. He was her rock and she was the family's rock. Her faith and trust in God never faltered.
Halina was a strong, noble, and determined woman, but above all, she was loving and caring and in return she was loved.
Halina is survived by her daughters, Joanne and Marie, her granddaughter, Joanna, her grandson, Kevin, her two nieces, Margaret and Ania and her nephew, Krzysztof. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward, parents, Vincent and Maria and brother, Bernard.
