Theresa Maxian Swan - May 07, 1917 - April 13, 2024

Obituary Preview: Theresa Marie Maxian Swan died Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the Valley Pines Assisted Living home in Morgan Hill, CA, at the age of 106, just three weeks shy of her 107th birthday. Teri was born in 1917 in the town of Hallstead, PA to Stephen and Lizzie Maxian, and was raised on a nearby farm in Brackney, PA. When she was 20 she traveled to Binghamton, NY, where she met and married Harold Swan. She worked as a draftswoman during WWII, after which she and Hal, who was employed at IBM, moved with their two children to a dairy farm in South Apalachin, NY. They had two more children while in New York and in 1967 they moved to Morgan Hill, CA, where she remained the rest of her life.

Teri was very active in the Morgan Hill community. She volunteered for the Red Cross’s blood drives for years, as well as delivering Meals on Wheels. She was an avid golfer and a member of the Gilroy Golf Club. Teri also played golf at various courses and in a variety of tournaments and was a frequent scorer at PGA and LPGA tournaments in Northern California. She always said she had especially good times scoring for Fuzzy Zoeller and Lee Trevino.

Teri was a Bronze Life Master bridge player and liked playing party bridge with many of her friends. She joined others on theme cruises playing bridge and golf. She loved traveling, especially on cruises. She went on tours in Ireland and England where she loved the people and local historical sights. One cruise went to Cabo San Lucas in Mexico; during a taxi ride there, the driver pointed out where his abuela (grandmother) had lived. She was enthralled by the stories he told. Teri was enthusiastic about her physical health and participated in an aerobics class three times a week. On Fridays, she and

the other participants met for coffee at a local donut shop, and she became good friends with all of them. In addition to aerobics, she walked and hiked often. In her 80th year she hiked up El Toro, and on another occasion she and several others walked across the Golden Gate Bridge and had lunch in Sausalito.

When it was time for Teri to renew her California driver’s license at the age of 100, the DMV made her pass every test they could think of to keep her off the roads. It wasn’t until 103 that she gave up her car and license.

Ellen Theresa Freitas (nee Roche) - January 29, 1950 - March 19, 2024

She was predeceased by her husband Rich and is survived by her daughters Emily and Sara, her grandson Charlie, and her sisters Mary Ann and Patsy. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister and will be deeply missed.

Ellen was born in Philadelphia, PA and enjoyed a successful career in New York after earning her BBA and MBA. She later moved to California with her family where she was an active member of the community as a 4-H parent and a member of AAUW.

Ellen was a very creative and adventurous soul. She was a private person regarding her own trials but she was extremely generous with her empathy and compassion towards others. Ellen will be greatly missed by those that knew and loved her.

A memorial service will be held at St. Catherine’s Church in Morgan Hill on 4/18/2024 at 11am.

She married Frank Bazan, they had four children together. She enjoyed a long life in Morgan Hill, Ca for 48 years.

Lupe worked in the fields as a young girl and woman. She also worked in electronics. Her most rewarding job was the work she did as a foster mother for 40+ years. She was a remarkable woman and mother and grandmother to anyone who needed love. She loved her family with all her heart and cherished being a mother and grandmother. She also loved watching movies and taking daytrips with her children and grandchildren.

Lupe is survived by her children- Chris Bazan, Steven Bazan, Maria FitzPatrick and Sally Bazan, Paul Grimm, Stephen Grimm, and Douglas Gonzales, her siblings-Hank Negrette, Lala Espinoza, Reuben Negrette, MaryLou Lopez, George Negrette, Tony Calderon; as well as her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, siblings-Roy Negrette, Alfred Negrette, Raymond Negrette and her husband, Frank Bazan.

Lupe will be greatly missed by the many lives she touched. She will be remembered forever in our hearts. We are comforted to know she is reunited with her husband. May she rest in peace.

A Funeral Service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 12:00 pm at LIMA-CAMPAGNA-JOHNSON FUNERAL HOME, 17720 Monterey Road, Morgan Hill. Interment to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, 250 Spring Street, Morgan Hill.

Jim was born on July 21, 1945, to Donald and Helen Pors. He graduated from Serra High School in 1963. While attending undergrad at San Jose State University, he met the love of his life, and fellow classmate Nancy. They were married for 53 years and had two children Brian and Katy.

Jim loved his career of over 30 years as a guidance counselor at various San Jose Unified schools mentoring and empowering the minds of grade school through high school students.

Jim’s love and passion for life was fueled by his love for his family, whether it was at 49er games or in the backyard having a BBQ, the sparkle in his eye was his wife Nancy and family.

He was predeceased by his parents, Donald & Helen Pors; his three brothers, Pete Pors, Don Pors, and Al Pors. Jim is survived by his wife Nancy, his son Brian Pors and family (Nichole, Carly, Samantha, and Henry); his daughter Katy Weeks and family (Jason, Jaxon, and Roxy); his sister Clare Thorpe; and numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

A celebration of life for Jim will be held at Gugliemo Winery in Morgan Hill, CA on Friday Feb. 9, from 4:30pm to 8:30pm.

Maria Lourdes Brum - February 17, 1927 - January 04, 2024

Obituary Preview: On Thursday January 4th, 2024, Maria Lourdes Brum, loving mother of 6, passed to be in God's loving grace at the age of 96 at New Bethany Nursing home in Los Banos, CA. Former resident of Morgan Hill, CA. Maria Lourdes was born to Manuel and Maria Pinheiro on Feb 17th, 1927 in Cedros, Faial, Azores.

A devout Catholic, and in January of 1960, her strong faith gave her the resiliency to solely immigrate to the United States from the Azores, at the age of 32, with 5 of her children while her late husband John of 62 years, was working hard to prepare a home for the family.

She was a bedrock of Faith and Love for everyone she came in contact with. The last survivor of 16 siblings, she continued to maintain a strong family unit of her own, raising Manuel, Mary, Joe, Tony, Alda, and Henry, with 21 grandchildren and 31 (and growing) great grandchildren. Nothing made her happier, than being with her family.

Memorial services will be held Saturday January 20th at Five Wounds Church, 1375 E. Santa Clara St, San Jose Service starting with a Rosary at 10am followed immediately by a memorial mass. The burial service will be held at Calvary Cemetery, 2650 Madden Ave, San Jose.

Obituary Preview: Dario Carrion Guerra, 90 years of age, resided in San Martin, CA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 31st. 2023, while surrounded by his daughters.

Dario, dad, has lived his life alongside his lovely wife Beatrice, mom, for 69 years and together have raised their 5 children enveloped with their love. Dario, dad, served in the armed forces for 9 years and retired from his custodial employment with the City of San Jose. He enjoyed talking with people, sharing past stories and current events. He had an open ear for anyone. He loved “loved” his wife Beatrice, mom, and would tease her by calling her Big Momma and referred to himself as Big Daddy, which was taken from one of the many movies they enjoyed called Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

I do need to mention on his behalf; oh how he enjoyed eating his Costco hotdogs and of course as he would say “don’t forget the onions’.

He enjoyed working on his home projects and taking care of the landscaping and animals when he had them. He loved his family very much, every one of his family members was special to him.

He once told his wife, mom, “Well I guess we did what we were suppose to do, we raised our kids the best way we could”. Dario, dad was a rich man in heart We love you dad, grandpa, great grandpa – you will be so missed. We were truly blessed to have you. Dario, dad is survived by his daughters; Mona, Rose & husband Patrick, Yvonne & husband Frank and Rachel. Jill Kirk - September 16, 1944 - December 11, 2023

Obituary Preview: Our beautiful Mama passed away, with her kids by her side, following a short but brave and hard fought battle with multiple health issues. Jill was born in Billingford, England to Thomas and Frances Griffiths and was younger sister to Pete and older sister to Chris. In 1953 the family emigrated to the United States, staying with family in Michigan and eventually settling in Los Angeles, where she graduated from Los Angeles High School. She and her first husband, Jim Richey, married in 1965 and had two children, Suzi and Eric. She and her family moved to San Jose in 1977 where Jill worked many years as a medical assistant and office manager. After she and Jim divorced, Jill met her biggest love, Richard Kirk, while taking Scuba lessons at Stan's Dive Shop in San Jose. They married in July 1980 and enjoyed many years of adventures together, including summers at Bass Lake, numerous cruises, annual trips to Mexico, skiing and other travels and outdoor activities. They spent years as members of the San Jose Flipper Dippers dive club, Backcountry Express 4WD club and Santa Clara Valley Thunderbirds car club. After Richard's passing in 2011, Jill became active in her community, serving on the Friends of St. Louise Hospital Board and was a founding member of the Morgan Hill Sister Cities. She absolutely loved being a part of the Morgan Hill community and made many wonderful friends over the years. She loved her family fiercely and spending time with them was her favorite. She loved music, geocaching and her sweet dog, Cricket. Mom is survived by her sister Chris (Tom), her kids Suzi (Lee) and Eric (Yvonne) and grandkids Kelsey, Kevin, Alex and Marshall and her extended family of nieces and nephews, whom she adored. She was also proud and loving step mom to Michele, Neysa, Mitchell, Colette and Mark and many beloved grandkids and great-grandkids who she cherished and loved dearly. Please join us in saying goodbye to our mom on Friday, February 2 at Lima-Campagna Johnson's Funeral Home in Morgan Hill at 11am followed by a luncheon at Mama Mia's in Morgan Hill to share stories and celebrate the amazing and beautiful woman that she was. David Lynn Clark - March 28, 1960 - November 28, 2023

Obituary Preview: David Lynn Clark, age 63, went to be with his Heavenly Father on November 28, 2023, in his home in Morgan Hill, CA. He passed unexpectedly from a heart attack. David was born in 1960 in Ames, Iowa, to Maurice and LaVonne Clark, joining his sister, Ann, and brother, Gary. The Clark family was complete when David’s younger sister, Becky, was born. The family lived in Slater, Iowa, and all four children graduated from Ballard High School in Huxley, Iowa.

After graduating from Ballard High School in 1978, David attended Waldorf College and Iowa State University. He was a member of Sigma Chi at Iowa State. After receiving his degree in Computer Engineering from Iowa State in 1982, David went to work at the United States Patent Office in Crystal City, Virginia, and lived in nearby Alexandria. While at the patent office, David attended night school and earned a master’s degree in biomedical engineering from George Washington University and a law degree from George Mason University. He was a member of the Minnesota Bar. In 1992, David joined the patent law firm of Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett, and Dunner in Washington, D.C. When his firm decided to open an office in Silicon Valley in 1997, David moved to Menlo Park as part of a small group opening the firm’s office in Palo Alto. David left private practice and enjoyed a successful career as a patent attorney working as in-house Patent Counsel at E*Trade (Morgan Stanley), Juniper Networks, Tellme Networks, and Microsoft. He returned to Iowa many times, and his parents and siblings also loved to visit him in California.

David met his wife, Annette Rodenberg, at the YMCA in Palo Alto in 1999 while she was working at Stanford University. They were married at Viansa Winery in Sonoma, CA, in August 2000. Annette and David moved to their first home in Redwood City, CA, in 2002. Annette and David are blessed with two beautiful daughters, Emma, born in 2002, and Sofia, born in 2005. In 2014, the girls changed schools and the family moved temporarily to San Jose. Six years later, the family moved to their present home in Morgan Hill, CA. Emma is a junior at Baylor University, and Sofia is a senior at Valley Christian Schools, where Annette works.

The family is active in Venture Christian Church and is blessed to be part of several faith communities. David was a leader and participant in Bible Study Fellowship for many years and loved being a part of an organization that helped people come to Christ and grow in their faith. He enjoyed walking the family dog, Huxley, playing guitar, and running on the Coyote Creek Trail. David’s family lives out their faith by participating in many school and church activities. They also enjoy many family activities, including camping, annual ski trips, vacations to Hawaii and Mexico, and especially visiting Emma at Baylor. However, what they love most is simply being together as a family in Morgan Hill. They are committed to staying connected to their families and friends and traveling to the East Coast and Iowa when possible. David’s faith in Jesus Christ was central in his life. He was a loving father, devoted husband, wonderful brother, a special uncle, and a caring friend to many people. He made the effort to maintain friendships and stay connected to people he loved and cared about. He made many friends in high school and college and maintained those friendships by getting together with his friends when he was in Iowa. David was a great listener and loved sharing and discussing his faith with others while encouraging them to grow in their own faith journey. While he will be greatly missed by all his family and friends, we rest in the assurance that he is now with His Lord and Savior, Jesus

Christ. He is preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and LaVonne Clark. He is survived by his wife, Annette Clark; his daughters, Emma and Sofia Clark; his brother, Gary Clark, and his wife, Diane Clark, with their children Melissa and Aaron; his sister, Ann Jensen, and her husband, Greg Jensen, with their children Sarah and Amy; and his sister,

Becky Williams, and her children Ethan and Elise.

David will be buried at a local cemetery with the attendance of his family. A public Celebration of Life memorial service is scheduled for 4:00 pm, December 11, at Venture Christian Church in Venue 2, 16845 Hicks Rd in Los Gatos, CA. Please consider bringing a memorable photo of David to the service for display. The family respectfully requests that, in lieu of flowers, a tax-deductible tribute donation be made to either the American Heart Association or Venture Christian Church Outreach in David’s name.

Obituary Preview: Roberto De Santiago, a beloved member of the community, passed away on November 25, 2023, at the age of 47 in San Jose, Ca. Born on August 21, 1976, in Jalpa, Zacatecas, Mexico, Roberto was a cherished spouse to Brenda Padilla and devoted father to his children, Cristian Olivares, Alexis De Santiago, and Roberto De Santiago Jr. He was the loving son of Maria del Carmen Robles and was preceded in death by his father, Alfredo De Santiago. Roberto is also survived by his siblings: Oswaldo De Santiago, Luis De Santiago, Hector De Santiago, Carlos De Santiago, Araceli, Guerrero, Gicela Del Rio, Elizabeth De Santiago, Rosalba De Santiago, Yesenia De Santiago.

Roberto ha a passion for outdoor activities, and spent many joyful hours riding horses, camping, and hunting. He especially treasured the time he spent with his children, creating everlasting memories with them. Roberto’s love for the outdoors extended to hobbies, where he indulged in duck hunting, and gun collecting.

Professionally, Roberto was a highly skilled engineer. He made significant contributions to the field, having worked as Senior Embedded Software Engineer at Sight Sciences, Principal Firmware Engineer at XXT, and as the Founder and Electrical Engineer at FourWard Technologies Inc. Colleagues and friends alike admired his dedication and expertise. Funeral services in honor of Roberto De Santiago will be held on December 5, 2023 at Lima-Campagna-Johnson Funeral Home in Morgan Hill, CA. The immediate family will have a private gathering from 12-2 pm, open visitation from 2-6 pm., rosary will be held at 6 p.m. On December 6, 2023, a mass will be held at 11 am at St. Catherine’s of Alexandria Catholic Church, 7400 Peak Ave, Morgan Hill, CA. 95037, followed by burial at Los Gatos Memorial Cemetery, 225 Los Gatos-Almaden Rd, San Jose, CA. 95124

Born in the Philippines on October 11, 1928, to Adela & Jose Locsin, one of nine children, he is survived by his youngest sister, Jean Locsin Sablan.

Benny lived a life filled with joy and mischief. He was always the life of the party and knew how to make every moment count.

Benny is survived by his second wife, Cecilia V. Locsin and his 7 sons and 6 daughters from his first wife, Maria Sablan Locsin. He leaves behind a legacy of 14 children, 37 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maria Sablan Locsin, his daughter Joan Locsin and his grandson Dominic Lopez-Toney.

Benny was a true Master of Work and play. He had a work ethic that could rival superheroes and a talent for stretching every penny, earning him the title of the ultimate penny pincher. With 14 children to raise, he had to be! He had many wonderful qualities that he passed on to his children and grandchildren.

While Benny did not serve in the military, he fearlessly defended his beloved Philippines during World War II. He was a true hero, armed with determination and love for his country.

In his professional life, Benny wore many hats. He dazzled as an insurance agent and even more as an accountant. But his entrepreneurial spirit didn't stop there. Benny owned a Mobil gas station and a chicken egg ranch. He was also one of the masterminds behind the Fil-Am Senior Center in Gilroy, CA and the proud owner of South County Travel, where he organized trips to Reno for seniors to have some serious fun.

When Benny wasn't conquering the business world, he found solace in his faith. He was a member of St. Catherine Church, where he worshiped and found inspiration for his mischievous adventures.

Speaking of adventures, Benny had a knack for turning any activity into a wild ride. From intense mahjong battles to hunting and fishing escapades to cockfighting, he always knew how to keep things exciting. And let's not forget his passion for dancing and belting out tunes like a true crooner. Benny knew how to make life sing!

To celebrate Benny's incredible journey, a wake Vigil will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at 5:00 pm.at the Lima-Campagna-Johnson Funeral Home. His Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023, at 11:00 am. at St. Catherine Church.

She left us peacefully surrounded by family at her residence in Morgan Hill at the age of 84.

Born in San Francisco, Marian relocated to San Gregorio as a very young child, where she attended school and later married and started her family. Marian worked on the family dairy while raising three young children. She loved to cook, kept an immaculate house, and enjoyed her weekly outings to the local bowling alley, where she actively participated in two separate bowling leagues. But most importantly she enjoyed watching her grandsons participate in school sports, exhibiting livestock at the county fairs and rodeos. The highlight of her later years was attending sporting events, dance recitals, and junior rodeos to cheer on her great-grandchildren. She hardly ever missed an event. Our mother was a kind, caring, and giving person who “Always” put the needs of her family before her own. Marian had a special relationship with her daughter Donna, which was next to none other. They were the true meaning of Best Friends. Marian was a strong woman who faced every challenge in her life with courage and dignity.

Growing up, she was always there for her family. She instilled in us the importance of family, hard work and doing what is right. Our mother was a true role model who we will always look up to.

She also had many friends and was well-loved by those who knew her.

She was predeceased by her sons Steve and Rick, her grandson Anthony, and her longtime companion Larry Vogen.

She is survived by her daughter Donna, Grandsons Jason (Tawnya), Justin (Khrista), and Kevin (Taylor), Great grandchildren Avery, Cali, Rowdy, Quinn, Sutton, Haelyn, Payson, and Josie.

Marian is also survived by her stepchildren, Roxanne (Jess), Dorene, and Rex. Grandchildren Anissa (Dylan), Ty, and Spencer.

Eddie lived a quiet life, often found under the hood of a car, for his friends and family or spending time playing vinyls on his record player, while working in the backyard garden. He will be known to his family for always being a phone call away, whenever help was needed.

He is survived by his five children and their families: Donna & husband Richard and daughter Sara, Liz & husband Fidel and daughters Roberta & Maryann, Linda & husband Duke and son Duke Anthony & wife Gina, Eddie & wife Andrea and children Dolores and Eddie III & Robert, who will re-adapt to the vacuum left from his absence.

He has now moved on, toward the waiting arms of his wife and embraced by his acquaintances who have passed before him, guiding him toward his next journey. His toolbox waiting for him, filled with an abundance of “special tools”.

Mitsi owned a knit shop in Santa Monica, CA where she also taught knitting classes. Mitsi and Dick raised their son Ricky in Los Angeles then moved to Morgan Hill, CA in 1992 to be closer to Mitsi’s younger siblings. She enjoyed traveling, cruising, bowling, playing bridge, visiting casinos, socializing with friends and loved animals, especially her pets.

Obituary Preview: He graduated in 1958 from Presho High School, where he played basketball and ran track while helping his dad with farming operations. He attended South Dakota State University in Brookings and managed to persuade his high school sweetheart Judith Brakke to transfer from Augustana College in Sioux Falls to join him in Brookings.

Jim and Judith were married on August 22, 1961, and made their home in Brookings while both finished college. Daughter Jennifer was born in November 1962 in Brookings. In the summers, the young family moved their trailer back to Presho so Jim could help at the farm.

After graduating from SDSU in 1964, Jim drove to Moline, Illinois, to interview for a job in industrial engineering at John Deere’s Harvester Works. He was hired and launched a career with Deere that would span nearly 25 years and take him to management roles in three Midwest states.

When his father passed unexpectedly in 1965, Jim took a leave from Deere to return to the farm. Later that year, Jim and Judith purchased a home in Silvis, Illinois. They welcomed daughter Lisa there in March 1966.

Jim’s career flourished and he accepted a promotion to Deere’s plant in Ottumwa, Iowa, in November 1978. Less than a year later, another move followed, this time to Deere’s snowmobile and garden tractor manufacturing hub in Horicon, Wisconsin, much to his daughters’ delight. He enjoyed international travel with Deere, including to Madrid, Spain, where Jennifer had spent a semester abroad and would later become engaged to Armando Gonzalez.

Jim and Judith returned to Moline in 1984 when Jim accepted a position at Deere’s World Headquarters. Jim left Deere in 1987 to begin a new job at Emerson Electric Co. near St. Louis, Missouri. Jim parted ways with Emerson in 1994 and shortly after devoted himself to caring for Judith when illness struck.

After Judith’s untimely passing in January 1995, Jim made his home in California, gravitating to the San Francisco Bay Area to be near daughters Jennifer and Lisa. Adding to the gravitational pull was longtime friend Sandra Arnold, who lived in Los Gatos and had lost her husband, Dick, in April 1994. The two couples shared the same wedding anniversary (August 22) and had been close friends since the earliest days at Deere & Co. in Moline. They had often joked about who would be the first to move to California.

Jim and Sandra were married in May 1996 before family and friends in Los Gatos. They lived in San Jose and later moved in 2012 to Morgan Hill, where their blended family enjoyed countless “Party Palace” gatherings and casual get-togethers. Leveraging his management experience and love of technology, Jim enjoyed an encore career as a tech industry recruiter for Pericom as Silicon Valley’s job market caught fire.

Jim was an active member of the Lutheran and Presbyterian churches during his lifetime. He loved music, cars, travel, cruises, wine tasting, investing, technology and – most importantly – family. He was constantly learning and challenging his mind, and he loved sharing his discoveries and gadgets with his grandchildren.

After retirement, Jim and Sandi enjoyed travel to Canada, Hawaii, England, Scotland, Italy, France, Norway, Germany, Mexico, and many music cruises in the Caribbean. He also enjoyed twice-yearly trips to South Dakota while his health allowed. Jim battled the effects of Parkinson’s Disease for 11 years with courage, grace and a positive attitude.

Those thankful to have shared his life include his wife, Sandra, with whom he would have celebrated 27 years of marriage on May 3, 2023; daughters Jennifer (Armando) Lien Gonzalez and Lisa (Randy) Lien-Mager; stepson Baron Arnold; stepdaughter Heather (Matt) Arnold-Lilly; and grandchildren Gabriel, Sara, Aidan, Santiago, Madison and Abigail.

He is also survived by his brothers Dennis and Steve. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Judith, and his aunt Josephine Ohlson, with whom he was exceptionally close and was proud to care for in her final years in Fallbrook, California.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Grace Hill Church in Morgan Hill, California, on June 24 at 2 p.m.

Spry and pluck she navigated the harvests and adventures of the countryside. Letting her opinion be known with her quick wit yet angelic face. Raised in a deeply rooted Catholic family her faith in God anchored & comforted her throughout her life. It also gave place for her to share her radiant voice in the St. Catherine’s church choir in Morgan Hill, where she sang for many decades.

It was upon marrying the affable and kind hearted, Anthony Justino (predeceased) that they moved to Morgan Hill. Where together they bought acreage and built their homestead whilst creating A & H Quality Egg Ranch. This marked the beginning of a loving and exemplary marriage that lasted 65 years. From this union came her two children, Janice and Gary.

Throughout her life she continuously nurtured and brought endless love & support to her family. Her warm hugs and gentle peppering of kisses, alongside her classic chocolate chip cookies, brought joy to many. Her love of song & square dancing, including quite an impressive yodel, will live on in the memories of those she touched.

She is survived by her adoring family; including her children Janice Guglielmo & Gary Justino. Her son in law George Guglielmo.
