Dakota C. Dixon - September 26, 2016 - May 13, 2024

Departed: 05/13/2024 (Red Lion)
Obituary Preview: GLEN ROCK - Surrounded by family, Dakota Dixon, at the age of 7, on May 13th, 2024, left his earthly body to be with Jesus. Dakota was born on September 26, 2016 in Bedford, PA to loving parents Alicia and Nick Dixon.
A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held Friday, May 17, 2024 at 9:00 AM located at Red Lion Bible Church, 105 Springvale Rd., Red Lion, with Pastor Steven Schmuck officiating the service. There will be a visitation afterwards from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM. A luncheon will follow in the church gymnasium. In honor of Kota Bear’s life, the family asks everyone to wear their Dakota’s Army shirts or the colors blue or green. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family at a later date.
The service will be live streamed at www.redlionbiblechurch.com. To view the live stream, go to the church's website, scroll towards the bottom, and click the "live stream" button. This will lead you to their YouTube link.
Dakota was a smart boy who loved life. He loved going to school, he loved his friends, and he had the spirit of a WARRIOR, which just so happens to be his school mascot. Playing in muddy puddles with his grandfather who he adored was something Kota loved to do. He loved to be outside, and his favorite hobbies included spending time on the lake, swimming and waterslides, and riding four wheelers or the side by side with daddy. When Kota was not outside, he enjoyed playing Wobbly Life, Minecraft, and Fortnite on his Xbox. He also enjoyed a good back scratch from his Grammy.
Traveling was something that Dakota adored. His favorite place in the world was Florida and being on the beach. Before his passing, Dakota made a wish to go to Disney World, but once he got a small glimpse of Heaven, he realized that Disney wasn’t the happiest place, and decided that being with Jesus was far more fun. Another wish that Dakota made was to have a golden retriever named “Fluffy.” Fluffy will soon be joining the family, and will honor Dakota by putting a smile on the faces of many other children fighting cancer.
Although Dakota has many friends, his best friend is by far his little sister Hayley. The two were a dynamic duo that enjoyed dancing together, playing together, making prank phone calls, and engaging in all the silliness. Hayley will miss her big brother tremendously.
Over the course of 7 years, Dakota has gained friends and family from all over the world- everyone loves him. Dakota will especially be missed not only by his parents Alicia and Nick Dixon, but by his little sister Hayley Dixon; his great-grandparents Bill Jr. and his wife Sherry Vance, Jeffrey and his wife Deborah Frey, and Nina Smith; grandparents Trudy and her husband Chris Fahs, Billy III and his wife Wendy Vance, and Greg and Christine Dixon; aunts; uncles; and cousins. He has tons of them, seriously. He is preceded in death by a paternal grandmother, Joy Dixon.
Dakota’s favorite song was “Joy” by For King and Country. The song truly exemplifies how Dakota lived his life from start to finish. Dakota constantly chose joy, even during his toughest battle. He was a fighter, and fought hard so that we can make a choice to choose joy as well. We are all so sad that Dakota is no longer here with us, but we celebrate the fact that we will all laugh, dance, and party hard with Dakota in Heaven once again. We will miss Dakota, our hearts ache, we love him to the moon and back, but we know that GOD WINS so we will choose joy. Miriam I. (Hilt) Warner - August 02, 1931 - April 30, 2024

Departed: 04/30/2024 (Red Lion)
Obituary Preview: Miriam I. Warner, 92 years nine months, of Dover Pennsylvania passed from this life on earth on April 30, 2024 to her home in heaven to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Born August 2nd, 1931 in Lower Windsor Township, Miriam was the daughter of the late Lorenza & Helen (Mundis) Hilt. Miriam was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Weldon Warner, and also by her brother Eugene Hilt. Miriam has one living sister, Jane Ann (Hilt) Miller of Wellsville PA.
Miriam and Gene had no children –only nieces & nephews whom she loved dearly. Miriam’s loving nickname was ‘Mit.’ The family seldom called her by her proper name, Miriam.
Miriam’s favorite Bible verses were Ephesians 3:17-21 and especially John 3:16. She loved the old hymns of faith, with “At the Cross” and “Mansion Over the Hilltop as her two favorites.
Miriam enjoyed a long life with many simple and unhurried moments of childhood. She recalled growing up with few amenities but a wonderful support system of grandparents, parents, siblings, cousins, and many close relatives.
In her early years she worked on her grandparent’s spacious potato farm picking potatoes. It was also when she was a young girl that she gleaned a love of cooking from her mother and making a variety of meals and desserts for family gatherings and special events throughout the years. She enjoyed canning and had a wonderful, spacious kitchen in the basement of her home. She took delight in being a homemaker and readily enjoyed keeping her home beautiful. Church picnics were a favorite for Miriam. She and the women of the church would work weeks and days to plan and prepare the food for those summer picnics. One never left those events hungry!
Throughout the years Miriam worked hard not only at church and in her home but also in the work-a-day world. As a young lady she took occupation at 2 sewing factories, one in Yoe, and one in Red Lion. She also cleaned several neighbors’ homes in Yoe during her teen years. Later she took employment at the Bonnie-Ann Sportswear factory in Dallastown and finally retired in 1995 from McCrory’s Distribution Center in York.
Miriam married the love of her life –Gene Weldon Warner on January 10, 1953 at the Windsor Church of God, officiated by the Reverend G. F. Broske. Together they loved to travel, making many special memories, finding new restaurants to eat at and exploring the many wonderful sights of America. They visited many National Parks and vacationed out west. One of the special places they visited was Disney World in Florida. Later they purchased two little birds that became constant companions to them for many years. They named the birds Mickey and Minnie.
Miriam loved growing flowers and especially roses. She had numerous varieties in many colors all around her home.
She was a lifelong member of Windsor Church of God. Her love for the church and serving was evident as she taught children’s Sunday School and was treasurer for the missionary society for many years. She told that one of the highlights for her was being the song leader for the adult Sunday School classes which opened every Sunday School meeting prior to the teaching.
In later years she and Gene moved to Providence Place in Dover to begin their golden years together. It was there that Miriam passed the time doing word search puzzles and coloring pages. She enjoyed talking to her neighbors as she would pass them in the hall and was never afraid to speak of her faith in the Lord.
While residing at Providence Place in Dover, she expressed how much she missed attending church. Miriam longed for the fellowship of other believers as they met together weekly.
The most famous person she ever saw was President Johnson in 1966 as he passed through Dallastown in his motorcade during the Dallastown Bi-Centennial Parade.
Miriam will be remembered as a woman of strong faith and one who desired to please the Lord her whole life long.
A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 6, 2024 at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion.
