Obituary Preview: Janet Looney, 85 of Parkersburg passed away May 11, 2024 at the Cedar Grove Assisted Living.
She was born in Wirt county December 15, 1938 the daughter of the late Burley and Naomi Daggett Cline.
She is survived by her daughters, Connie Hickman (John) of Parkersburg and Michele Elder (Jeff) of Parkersburg. Her granddaughter, Kristy Kimes (Brad) of Washington, WV. and her great grandson, Brantley Kimes of Washington, WV.
Janet’s life was a living example of one of her favorite Bible verses, Ephesians 4:32. “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ”.
Janet never said an unkind word to anyone. Anyone who met Janet loved her. If anyone was ever in need of anything she would be the first to reach out to them. She always taught her daughters about love and kindness. If a problem ever came up she would tell them “This too shall pass” and everything would be okay. No one showed unconditional love to one another than our mother showed for us and to anyone who met her. Nothing meant any more to her than her family, she loved them dearly. Janet was a beautiful soul inside and out. Janet lived a Christian life to the fullest. She read her Bible every day, she had read the entire Bible more than once and always lived by those words. Her last words to her two daughters were “I love you”. She had a great love for animals of any kind and always had dogs and cats.
She always fed any stray cat that came around and sometimes she ended up keeping them inside. She loved her newest grand dog Duggie Boy.
She was a long-time member of Camden Avenue Church of Christ, and a member of Stepping Stones. She enjoyed crocheting, working word search books, playing bunco, and loved anything chocolate. She loved decorating for the holidays, especially Christmas, and always cooked a big family dinner. She was always on the committee for planning her class reunions. She was a homeroom mother in her daughter's elementary school years at Gihon. She was an excellent caregiver to her Mother and Husband when they were homebound. She never drove but took her written driving test and passed it and had a learners permit at age 75.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Looney in 2018 and one brother, Gene Cline.
A private service is planned at the convenience of the family at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family would like to thank Cedar Grove Assisted Living for the care, love, and compassion our Mom has shown over the last two years. Miss Janet loved everyone there, and always said “I couldn’t be treated any better” The Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg is assisting the family with arrangements and online condolences may be sent to the family at www.leavittfuneralhome.com
