Mr. Jason J. Matthews - Unknown - April 09, 2023

Departed: 04/09/2023 (Kansas City)
Obituary Preview: The Epitome of a Gentle Soul – Jason James Mathews
Jason James Mathews was born on August 29, 1981 in Kansas City, Missouri. On April 9, 2023, Jason reached the pinnacle of his unwavering faith, as God in his divine wisdom leaned down and whispered in his ear “It’s time now” and called him home.  He fought a good fight, finished his course and he kept his faith in God.  Henceforth, there is laid up for him a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give him at that day. (2 Timothy 4:7-8)
He was a product of the Kansas City, Missouri School District, as he achieved academic success enrolled in the Foreign Language Magnet Schools.  Proficient in speaking Spanish fluently, he communicated very well with diverse populations.  After graduation, he furthered his education in Hamilton, Missouri, where he studied Environmental Sciences.
Jason was very passionate about his career in Water Services.  In 2002, he started his career with Kansas City, Missouri Water Services.  Then he relocated to the City of Olathe, as he continued to use his expertise and skills.   Receiving an opportunity to excel, his final job position was with the Kansas City Board of Public Utilities.
Jason believed the key to success was education and hard work.  He worked extremely hard to provide for his family.  There wasn’t any sacrifice too big for him to do, which would guarantee success to his family. His greatest joy was his family and the times they spent together.  He was full of adoration and affection and “I love you” was always freely spoken and reinforced through his actions in his home.  His family ties, unity and love were top priorities to him.
May 16, 2009, Jason married the apple of his eye; that he called the love of his life.  Together, they became one and the union was indeed everlasting.
Jason was a true child of God and accepted Jesus Christ, as his Lord and Savior, at an early age. He was baptized at St. Mark’s Union Church under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Samuel E. Mann. In his later adult years, it was a priority for him and his wife’s spiritual growth to study the Holy Bible, together, striving to have a “purpose-driven” life guided by God.
When one think of Jason, they are quickly reminded of his charismatic and friendly personality that could captivate any room he walked in.  His warm character was the starting point for countless friendships.  He was truly the life of any party.  He loved sports and was an avid Kansas City Chief’s Fan.  Jason understood and appreciated the simplicity of life.  His pursuit of the betterment of humanity was a basic for his moral.  He loved a life that was very productive.  It was respected by all.
His life’s memories, smile, and willingness to help others will always be remembered and cherished by his family and friends.  Reminiscing of his love for us, gives us fond memories and our “faith” gives us the promise of seeing him again.
Jason was greeted in Heaven by Ella Mae Nunley, grandmother; LaNita Pedican, Juanita Dennis, Jessie Marshall, Daisy Stephenson, aunts; Clarence Maddox, uncle; Moncela Mcree, friend; Angela Ridley, sister-in-law; Deanna Baylis and Carla Williams, cousins.
Jason has transitioned from earth to glory, but his memory will always linger on.  This debonair man left a good and great imprint in the hearts of many as he reached out and touched many in special ways. Jason leaves to cherish his loving memory:  Carleeta Mathews, an awesome committed and devoted wife; Amya Mathews and Crysen Hoskins-Mathews, two loving daughters; James (Patricia) Wilkins, parents; Stephanie Bunting, Tanisha Gilmore, and Ebony Gilmore, sisters; Christopher Robinson, brother;  Carlton(Kathryn) Ridley, Jr., father/mother-in-love;  Billy Banks, a special best friend, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 15, 2023, 2:30pm at the Watkins Heritage Chapel. Private Disposition. Funeral Services conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Condolence may be shared on our website.

Obituary Preview: The reunion that has been going on in heaven just got a bit more exciting because Alvin T. Rogers walked in!  There to greet him are his parents Johnnie Mae McGraw Rogers and Offie "Doc" Rogers, His his siblings, Virgil Clay Rogers, Otis Warren, Roy Rogers, Raymond "Nick" Rogers, Leonard “Tuff Love” Rogers and sister Ethel M. Hansard. His nephews Tony Love, Albert Rogers, and Roy Lee Tiller “Tee”his nieces Tracy, Kathy, and Net.  His daughters' moms, Joyce Bledsoe and his love Debra K. Thomas.  Alvin lived a fun and full life.
Alvin T. Rogers was born on April 28, 1956 in Preston MS.  He was a member of Havenside Church-God In Christ in KCK, where he was also Baptisd and gave his life to Christ.  He worked many jobs throughout his life but most of it as a driver for Deffenbaugh Garbage Disposal and as driver for Hospital Linen.
He was the Lead lumper at Lady Baltimore.  The job Alvin loved the most and did until his health began to fail him was his Lawn service.  He served both Kansas  City Ks and KCMO  residents, all were faithful and longtime patrons, family and friends.
Alvin loved sports, going to the casino, hanging out with friends and family, watching westerns and  listening to the blues.  He was initially a fan of the Chargers but his love for the Chiefs eventually won out.  He also loved to drive, it did not matter if it was across town or across the country.  He was always ready and willing to make a road trip.  When you took a trip around town you couldn’t be in a hurry because he was gonna stop everywhere and speak to everyone before making it back home. People often stated if you get in the car with Alvin you were kidnapped for the day if they got in the car with him. OH! You better not call at 11 am, he would always be found sitting in his favorite recliner watching “The Young and the Restless” and he did not want to be interrupted. Alvin also loved dressing nicely and taking pictures.  He made sure he always had on his sunglasses which were his signature piece for the photo.
Alvin had a great love for his family and friends,  his friends were more like family than friends.  He made sure to let his children know who his family was and to make sure they visited family when they went to other states to visit.  He was very big on family knowing who their kin folks were.  He had so much love for others and took in his children’s friends as his other kids. Alvin T. Rogers departed this life early Monday morning on March 6th, 2023 at the Kansas City Hospice House surrounded by his family. He was a loving man and a providing father.  He gave all that he could whenever he could.  If you needed him, Alvin was never more than a phone call away. He was willing to help in any situation and if he couldn’t he always knew someone that could.  He was Superman! He leaves to cherish his 3 daughters Rashonda(Ivory)Laster of Kansas City, KS. Demita Rhodes (Frank)of Kansas City, MO. Alisa (Christopher) Rayford of Memphis,TN and 1 son Alvin Ford of Davenport, IA.
