Susan Ann Taylor - May 04, 1953 - May 01, 2022

Departed: 05/01/2022 (Elyria)
Obituary Preview: Susan Ann Taylor, 68, of Grafton passed away Sunday, May 1, 2022, following a brief illness. Susan was born May 4, 1953 in Elyria to the late William Meeker. She was a 1971 graduate of Elyria High School. Not long after high school, in 1973, Susan was blessed to have met and married the love of her life, her husband Richard J. Taylor. Throughout her life Susan worked many years as an Intake Coordinator at Elyria Memorial Hospital and also a Bus Aide for Midview Local Schools. Her true passion was taking care of her family. Susan was a dedicated and trusted companion to her husband, Richard, and raising her two sons, Travis and Scott, who were the joy of her life. She took much pleasure in making their meals, supporting their teams, and supporting their dreams. Throughout her sons’ younger years, Susan was a dedicated Den Mother while they were both in Boy Scouts. She happily took on a lead role in the coveted Midview High School Football weekly “Feed the Team” tradition. She did such an amazing job that at the end of her tenure, Susan was awarded The Golden Spaghetti Fork, not only for her dedication to the teams weekly event, but for her amazing cooking. Susan was best known for happily feeding anyone and everyone who walked through her door. She made everyone feel welcome and every belly full. She did it proudly with a smile on her face. Her guests were always happy to oblige. Another source of pride and joy for Susan came from her home in Grafton. She took meticulous care of her home and her yard. When you visited Susan’s pool you felt like you were on vacation. The care and attention she put into her landscaping, flowers, and décor was always accompanied by thoughtful snacks, and maybe a frozen margarita made fresh by Richard on the deck. Susan always lived her life to the fullest and did her best not to let anything slow her down. She and Richard travelled all around and made dear friends everywhere they went. Throughout the years they spent a lot of time with friends and family riding the trails in Normantown, West Virginia and boating and beaching in Englewood, Florida. And you can bet, Susan took her hospitality with her everywhere she went which included cooking and hosting whenever and wherever she could. The last several years of Susan’s life were spent relaxing in retirement with Richard as well as doting over and bragging about her sons and their families. Her children, daughter-in-laws, and grandchildren were everything to her. She was so proud of each and every single one of them and made sure that they knew it. Susan was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Words cannot describe how much she will be missed. Susan is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Richard J. Taylor; sons Travis (Michele) and Scott (Kelly), and her five adoring grandchildren; Hannah, Grace, Elijah, Caleb, and Madeline. She was preceded in death by her father, William Meeker, step-father William Hoffmanbeck, grandparents; TW Meeker and Zelda Meeker. Visitation will be held at Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home, Saturday, May 7, 2022 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM with service to follow immediately after. Burial will be at River Road Cemetery in LaGrange Township. A Celebration of Life will follow at Lions Park in LaGrange. Online condolences can be made at www.laubenthalmercado.com.
