WOODRUFF- William Barry Taylor, 69, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2022, at Regional Hospice Home after a battle with Cancer.
He was born in Woodruff on February 16, 1953, to Zellon Williams Taylor Colburn (Don) of Woodruff and the late Frank Taylor.  He was the widower of Phyllis Ann Davenport Taylor who passed away March 17, 2021.
Barry was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, formerly Mills Mill and was owner of Taylor’s Painting.
Surviving is two sons, William Jason Taylor, Sr. of Lexington, SC and Russ Taylor of Greenville, SC.  three grandchildren, William Jason Taylor Jr., Gracie Elizabeth Taylor, and Drew Grisham Taylor.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens, officiated by Rev. Daniel Godfrey and Mr. Gordon Godfrey.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary prior to the service.

WOODRUFF- William Javan Waddle, 76, of 106 Bridwell Road died peacefully at his home, Tuesday, April 12, 2022.
He was born in Woodruff, July 4, 1945, to the late Rex Javan and Oneilia Virginia Owens Waddle.  Mr. Waddle was a retired Master Sergeant with the United States Air Force with 20 years of service and also retired as a Master Deputy with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Department for over 25 years.
Surviving is his wife, Judy Waddle of the home; one son, Brooks (Janet) Waddle; one daughter, Christy (Corey) Musolf; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Waddle, Devin Camp, Cameron Camp and Austin Camp.  He was predeceased by a son, Devin Javan Waddle.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, April 24, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at Legacy at Beaver Hills, 3700 South Church Street Ext., Roebuck conducted by Rev. Manning Strickland.
A visitation will be held immediately following the service in the church sanctuary.

She was a Certified Public Accountant.
Pamela is survived by four daughters, Shirley Gail Mertens of Tobaccoville, NC, Elizbeth Danielle Bowerman of Woodruff, SC and Jennifer Lynn Bernard of Gaffney, SC, and Almeda Faye Akers of Joaquin, Texas;  two  sons, Kenneth Earl Parker of Gary, Texas, and Michael Keith Parker of Joaquin, Texas; one sister, Kim Barrick of Duncan, Oklahoma; and two brothers, Dorman Walters of Duncan, Oklahoma and Michael Walters of Walking, Texas, She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by a daughter, Victoria Lea Contreras, and a granddaughter.

Sara Elizabeth Roberts Workman, 97, of 4101 Highway 101, went home to be with the Lord at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home March 26, 2022. She and her husband of 76 years B.H. Workman (Beechie) who passed May 17, 2019 had lived in the family home, Hurricane Tavern in Cashville, since 1966.
Born in Laurens County January 9, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Alvin Roberts and Vallie Mae Westmoreland Roberts Fowler. She is survived by her children, Karen Harlan (Al), Mike, Laura Edge (Gary) and Beechie (Jane); grandsons Everette (Amy), Michael (Missy), Ryan (Kim), and Matthew (Jennifer); her great-grands, Elias, Avalie, Sarah, Seth, Emma, Wyatt, Brayden, Landen Workman and Chloe Worley. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers James, Charles and Billy Roberts.
She was a graduate of Woodruff High School and attended Winthrop College. She was a homemaker and the best mother anyone could have. She loved reading and studying her bible and was a faithful Christian member of Bellview Baptist Church having made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ when she was 13 years old. She has served as a Sunday school teacher, youth leader and worked in the children's church. She was currently the oldest member of Bellview. She enjoyed gardening, preparing delicious meals for her family, visiting in the community and she especially enjoyed traveling out west and camping at Hunting Island. She was a Proverbs 31 woman.
A Celebration of Life Service will be Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Bellview Baptist Church officiated by Reverend Carey Caldwell and Reverend Rex Keaton.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
The family will be at the Workman home Monday afternoon, March 28, 2022 between 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to receive friends and family.

He was born April 16, 1935, in Spartanburg County to the late John W. and Allowee Simmons Parrish.  He was a member of Patterson Chapel United Methodist Church and was a retired employee with Byars Machine Shop in Laurens.  He was a member of Enoree Masonic Lodge #222 and was a Hejaz Shriner.  Mr. Parrish served in Germany in the U.S. Army where he played baseball, he was inducted in the Woodruff Athletic Baseball Hall of fame at Woodruff High School.  He was co-founder of the Lanford Community Center Gymnasium and Softball Field.
Surviving is his wife, Elsie Lancaster Parrish of the home; one daughter, Joye Staton (Tony) of Laurens; one son, Lee Parrish (Kim) of Hickory Tavern; stepdaughter, Denise Taylor (Steve) of Woodruff; 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his first wife, Loree Wilkie Parrish and a sister, Rita McSwain.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 27, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at Patterson Chapel United Methodist Church, 135 Patterson Plant Road, Enoree by Rev. Kevin Bishop.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 26, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary, 257 North Main Street, Woodruff.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. at Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary Chapel by Rev. Rex Keaton.   Private interment will follow at the Darby Cemetery at Green Pond Baptist Church.

Also surviving are six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 O’clock on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at New Hope Baptist Church, 11841 Hwy. 56, Enoree, officiated by Rev. He was born November 26, 1956, in Woodruff to the late Charlie Grover and Alice Robinson Lawrence.  Grover was a member of West End Baptist Church where he was born again March 17, 1968.  He served West End as a deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Director.  Rev. Lawrence had in his life served as pastor of Sherwood Baptist Church in Spartanburg, New Life Baptist Church in Woodruff and Step of Faith Baptist Church in Woodruff.
Rev. Lawrence received an A.A. Degree from North Greenville College and attended Columbia Bible College and Greenville Technical College.  He was the author of the book “Tales from Ardvark County” which is still available on Amazon.
He is survived by one daughter, Erin Lawrence Wonser of Spartanburg; one son, Charlie Grover Lawrence II of Winnsboro; two sisters, Margaret (Mike) Godfrey of Woodruff and Mary Carlton of Woodruff.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 6, 2021, at 2:30 p.m. at West End Baptist Church.  Interment will follow at Woodruff Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. prior to the service in the church sanctuary.

WOODRUFF- David Dalton Grubbs, 73, a loving husband, father and grandfather passed away at his home on Thursday, February 10, 2022.
David was born June 27, 1948, in Woodruff to the late Roy and Mary Sue Williams Grubbs.  He was a graduate of Woodruff High School and earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of South Carolina.  David was affectionately called Pops, by his grandchildren and those close to him was a friend to all.  As an accomplished businessman he ended his professional career as “The Ice Cream Man” of Charleston with his business Dave’s Delights.  After his retirement he and his beloved wife left Mt. Pleasant and returned to their home in Woodruff.
David’s proudest accomplishment was his family.  He and his wife of 53 years are the proud parents of two daughters and six grandchildren.  As a spirited Woodruff Wolverine and South Carolina Gamecock he loved attending football games with his family and friends.  David was an avid sports fan and enjoyed talking sport’s stats with his sons-in-laws.  He also took pride and joy in being Santa Clause every year not only to his grandchildren, but many Mt. Pleasant families.  He brought love and laughter to many families as Dave’s Delights and Santa Clause.
Dedicated to his family, he enjoyed fishing and traveling with his six grandboys.  He enjoyed teaching them life lessons and sharing stories of his youth with them, two of his six grandchildren are named after him.
Surviving is his loving wife, Tobie Littlefield Grubbs of Woodruff; daughters, Ashley Grubbs Wimberly (Mark) of Summerville and Brantli Grubbs McMillan (Ross) of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Mark Patrick Wimberly Jr., John Fredrick Wimberly (Fritz), Henry Harrison Wimberly, David Grant Wimberly, Wilbur Ross McMillan III and Dalton Littlefield McMillan; sisters, Dora Grubbs Taylor of Waterloo and Lois Grubbs Jennings (Johnny) of Waterloo; brother-in-law, Ronald Littlefield and his wife, Teresa and many nieces and nephews that he dearly loved.  He was predeceased by his father and mother-in-law, Hughell and Wilma Littlefield and a brother-in-law, Don Taylor.
Graveside Memorial Services will be held Sunday, February 13, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens by his nephew, Rev. Don Taylor.

Gennieve, daughter of the late Luther Clyde and Sarah Frances Kernells, was born August 20, 1935, in Spartanburg County.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Woodruff, where she was a member of the Winsome Sunday School Class.  She worked as a bookkeeper at Armstrong Textiles for many years before she retired.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Chris Benfield of Boiling Springs; two grandchildren, Madison Benfield of Fort Mill and Matthew Benfield of the home; one sister, Joyce Kernells McAbee of Woodruff; numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her brother, Winfred Kernells and two infant children.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, February 10, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens by Rev. Andrew Shull.
Visitation will immediately follow the service at the graveside.
