Buck’s final resting place will be next to his parents and brother at Omro Cemetery. However, think of him when you are on the river, as a part of his spirit will always be there. Don’t think of him as gone away His journey’s just begun Life holds so many facets
The earth is only one. Just think of him as resting From the sorrows and the tears In place of warmth and comfort
Where there are no days and years. Think how he must be wishing That we could know today How nothing but our sadness
Can really pass away. And think of him as living In the hearts of those he touched For nothing loved is ever lost
And he was loved so much. --UNKNOWN

Valerie Marie Sprung - September 29, 1946 - November 25, 2023

Departed: 11/25/2023 (Omro)
Obituary Preview: Valerie M. Sprung was peacefully called to her heavenly home by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Saturday, November 25, 2023, while surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on September 29, 1946, to parents, Dorothy Grahek and Earl Penosa. At age 2, Valerie was diagnosed with Polio, which resulted in numerous surgeries and stays in the hospital throughout her childhood.  Despite the challenges of having Polio, she never let the disease hinder her determination to face and lead a normal life; not only did her diagnosis strengthen and develop her into the strong, independent woman she became but also gave her the will and motivation to overcome adversity when placed in front of her.
As a young adult, she met and later married Duane “Dewey” Sprung.  They had three daughters: Sheri, Gina, Kristi, and a son Kevin.
Those who knew her, know Valerie’s passion and love for cooking and baking for her family and friends, at times recreating her most delicious, memorable dishes and then other times trying out new recipes she may have picked up from the cooking channels/shows she enjoyed watching daily.  Valerie also will be remembered for her love of watching Hallmark movies, the thrill she had of going to play Bingo with family and friends, she enjoyed the adventures and rewards of thrift shopping while also searching for treasures from a good rummage sale as well.  Many will also recall how Valerie took great pride with her elaborate collection of Christmas and Snowman decorations along with the annual devotion of decorating her house at Christmas time; providing her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends, the most welcoming, festive holiday atmosphere possible, along with all the incredible meals and seasonal desserts she prepared. Valerie always put her family first and above anything else, including herself, even when she faced numerous bouts of ailments with her health during the course of her adult life.  Overall, Valerie will be most remembered and cherished by her family for her unconditional, doting love, strength, courage, and affection she always provided; she will also always be looked upon as the maternal rock that guided and steered the family through the difficult, challenging times and of course the many great times we all celebrated together.

Thomas John Carpenter - December 14, 1977 - October 27, 2023

Departed: 10/27/2023 (Omro)
Obituary Preview: Thomas “Tom” J. Carpenter, age 45, passed away at home on October 27, 2023, in Neenah, Wisconsin. He was born on December 14, 1977, to parents, Steven and Debra (VanDensen) Carpenter, in Neenah, Wisconsin.
Tom grew up in Omro, Wisconsin, where his parents were active in the bus ministry at Wyldewood Baptist Church. As a young child, he accepted Christ as his personal Saviour. Tom was confident in his eternal destination because of his personal relationship with Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 2:8-9 and I John 5:13) He graduated from Wyldewood Christian School in 1995, and Pensacola Christian College with a bachelor’s degree in computer science in 2000.
Tom loved traveling. A few of his memorable trips with his parents and brother’s family were to the Grand Canyon and Washington D.C. Tom and Jaclyn also enjoyed their travels to Mackinac Island, Mexico and Puerto Rico.
He married Jaclyn Fletcher on November 12, 2011, in Waupaca, Wisconsin. They had known each other since childhood and reconnected as adults over the mutual enjoyment of motorcycles. God blessed them with two beautiful daughters, Cailie and Lillyanah, whom he adored. They especially enjoyed hugging, games, biking, and skiing. He also loved chocolate milk and wanted his daughters to drink as much “chocolatey milkity” as possible. Spending time playing and laughing with his girls, nieces, and nephews meant the world to him.
Tom most recently worked for Sargento Cheese in Hilbert, Wisconsin. He found great joy in being able to give out cheese to his family and friends. He also repurposed paper from work to print covers for Bibles for the ministry of Bearing Precious Seed (BPS). These covers were used on almost a million scriptures that were shipped around the world.
He had a deep passion for all things outdoors, especially riding motorcycles, skiing, and canoeing. Tom will be remembered for being kind-natured, diligent, and having a way of being able to make everyone laugh.
He is survived by his wife Jaclyn (Fletcher) Carpenter; daughters Cailie and Lillyanah Carpenter; father, Steven (Christine) Carpenter; brother Timothy (Star) Carpenter and their children Tomas, Isaiah, Justus, Zander, Xavier, and Quinn; sister Teresa (James) Daw and their children Zack, Elijah, Zoe, Elliot, and Emma; four brothers-in-law along with their wives and children; and many other extended family members and friends.

Melinda A Thomas - May 06, 1976 - October 16, 2023

Departed: 10/16/2023 (Omro)
Obituary Preview: On October 16, 2023, Melinda Thomas left this earth, to spend all of eternity with her Lord & Saviour.
Melinda was born to James (Jim) and Ruth Kroneman in Madison, Wisconsin on May 6, 1976, and graduated from Madison East High School in 1995.
After graduation from high school, Melinda attended the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater, where she initially enrolled in the music education program. She had tremendous musical talent, and aside from her primary instrument of Oboe, she also played the English horn, alto saxophone, piano, and 3 different varieties of recorder. At UW-Whitewater, she performed in Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, and Concert Band. Melinda was also a dedicated member of the UW-Whitewater Color Guard, where, early on, she was given the nickname “Index,” because she could recall details on cue, like the entire season’s football (and color guard performance) schedule. She loved color guard; it was a place of belonging for her that formed many friendships. In 2017, she was thrilled to rejoin several of her color guard sisters for a homecoming reunion performance at Perkins Stadium.
Following a transfer to Marian University and completion of her Bachelor’s degree, Melinda worked in different positions in banking, office/reception, and retail, but took five years away from work to devote herself to the care of her son, Dylan, when he was born. She loved being a Mom and adored her son. Some of the happiest photos of Melinda—and the happiest moments of her life, were the ones she shared with him, from the time he was very little when she would read to him, or take him to the park to play, or when she was cheering him on in basketball, football, or track. She swelled with pride and her face beamed when she spoke about him to others. When Dylan grew older, though, she wasn’t afraid to throw out a “mom threat” with a wide-eyed glare in his direction, every now and then, to show her disapproval for an albeit unrelated behavior and the power she wielded: “If you do that, you’re going to be doing your own laundry,” or “If you keep saying that, you’re going to be packing your own lunch from now on.” She meant it, too.
Whenever people asked Melinda how she was doing, she would often answer briefly about herself but frequently would turn the conversation to her family. It was her constant care for others over self that will stand eternally as one of her most enduring qualities, which was loved by so many of her family and closest friends and counted on by so many others. Melinda was the sweetest, most gentle soul—and in every way, genuine and unpretentious. It wasn’t a put-on, or an act; it was who she was. From that flowed an abiding love and support for her husband, which was profoundly mutual in a marriage buoyed by many special moments and memories in their life together, in 22 years of marriage and the six years before they exchanged vows.
Melinda leaves behind her family, who will miss her deeply: husband, Nate, and their son, Dylan, as well as her mom, Ruth, and brother, Brian (Kelly) Kroneman, and many more in her extended family. She was preceded in death by her father, Jim, and grandparents Francis & Lois Fleming, and Clarence & Thelma Kroneman.
Visitation will be at Bridge of Faith Baptist Church in Omro, Wisconsin, on Tuesday, October 24, from 1-2pm with Funeral Service, led by Pastor Daryl Marco, to immediately follow at 2pm. Romans 10:9-10
