Sonny was born April 16, 1946, in Casey County. KY to Dillard and Sadie Belle (Rayburn) Elliott. He married Patsy Robena Liles on August 2, 1969. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. and a deacon at the Brocton Christian Church. He enjoyed bow hunting, fishing, gardening, volunteering at the food pantry, and was a handyman who enjoyed fixing things. He had a giving heart and loved to help others.
He is survived by three sons: Tommy Elliott of Metcalf, IL, Donald Ray Elliott of Fayetteville, NC, and Jeffrey Elliott of Metcalf, IL; seven sisters: Martha, Annie, Louise, Mary, Della, Stella, and Judy; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three sons, three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Chrisman, IL. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Young America Cemetery. Helen was born January 10, 1930, in Vermillion Grove, IL, to Raymond Frances and Amanda (Kendall) Boggess. She was a veteran of the United States Air Force, where she served as a registered nurse and achieved the rank of Captain. Helen was an avid Illini fan, and collected trucks, planes, and Air Force memorabilia. She dearly loved all of her dogs. Helen is survived by her brother-in-law, Kenneth Kinney; her five nieces:
Kim (Kinney) Winsloff, Wendy (Kinney) Helms, Renée (Kinney)Berg, Ramona (Kinney) Champagne and Tammy Kinney, all of Florida; eleven grandnieces and nephews; and five great-grandnieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Madeline Potenza and her twin sister, Hazel Kinney.
A graveside funeral will be held on Monday, December 26, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Friends Chapel Cemetery in Scottland, IL. For those who wish, memorials in Helen’s honor may be made to the Humane Society or St. Labre Indian School.

Elsie was born March 9, 1936, in Ross Township, Edgar County, IL to Archie Lee and Retta Faye (Newport) Craig. She married Elias Elton Ingram at the Chrisman Christian Church on September 23, 1955; he survives.
She is also survived by her daughter: Glenda Dea (Dennis) Barrett of Chrisman, IL; two grandchildren: Cody (Kristan) Barrett and Courtney (Jonathon) Jones, both of Chrisman, IL; three great-grandchildren: Taylor Jones, Izzy Barrett, and Ember Faye Barrett, also of Chrisman, IL; and a sister: JoAnn Lacey of Rancho Cucamonga, CA. She was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
Elsie was employed as the parts manager at Mooney Motors for over thirty years. She was a member of the Chrisman Christian Church and enjoyed collecting salt and pepper shakers and ceramic roosters.

Obituary Preview: Lois Eileen Brooks, age 94, of Chrisman, IL, passed from this life into eternal rest on Friday, October 28, 2022, at Marshall Rehabilitation and Nursing.
Lois was born May 14, 1928, to John Ephraim and Effie Stella (Walker) McNulty in Clark County, IL.
Lois married the true love of her life, John Robert (Bob) Brooks in Henderson, KY, on October 28, 1947. They were married 53 years until his passing on March 8, 2001. Lois and Bob drove a semi in their earlier years before settling down to farm southeast of Scottland, IL. The also had a hog farm during their farming years, and set up farmer’s markets in Danville, Champaign, and Terre Haute. Lois and Bob retired to Florida in 1987, where they had a booth in several flea markets on different days.
Lois enjoyed mushroom hunting, bowling, and rollerskating, and loved to visit casinos and play Bingo. She was a Girl Scout in her childhood. She delivered Peace Meals, was a blood donor, and was a lifetime member of the Paris Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Lois is survived by special niece and nephews: Sandra (Phil) Schmit, David McNulty, Steven McNulty, Rodney McNulty, and Tim McNulty, all of Chrisman, IL; a step-daughter: Kay (Khalil) Fuller Ayoub; a sister: Barbara Bagwell of Chesapeake, VA; four step-grandchildren: Debbie, Dennis, Kelly, and John; and several nieces, nephews, and step-great-grandchildren . She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; three brothers: Elza McNulty, Henry McNulty, and George McNulty; three sisters: Ettsyell Rhoads, Helen Martin, and Bernice Vernon; and a step-granddaughter: Kamy Elliot.
A graveside funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Friends Chapel Cemetery in Scottland, IL. For those who wish, memorials in Lois’ honor may be made to the Marshall Rehab Activity Fund or Chrisman Peace Meals.

Gerry Sr. was born October 13, 1942, in Piedmont, Oklahoma at the home of his aunt Nell, to George William Collett, Jr. and Clara Geraldine (DeBoard) Collett. He is survived by Katharine Elizabeth (Stratford) Collett, whom he married on August 29, 1964, at the Pittsburg Free Methodist Church in Illinois.
He is also survived by three siblings, John (Marilyn) Collett, Dwain (Carol) Collett, and Coleta (John) Steers, two children, Gerry, Jr. (Cheryl) Collett of Harrodsburg, KY and Soni (Tito) Matias of Chicago, IL, and grandchildren & great grandchildren Katie Matias & Gatlin, Jackey (Steve) Murillo & Ezekiel, Joelle (Cody) Jones & Cora, Victoria (Scott) Grimes, Christina Collett, Andrea Collett, and Pablo Matias as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Gerry was a math teacher for many years and even in retirement enjoyed tutoring and substitute teaching in the school system. He also had his own repair business in which he worked on houses and appliances. He used his talents to minister to many in the community and loved visiting his children when they had a project for him to work on. He was currently attending Chrisman Christian Church, where he helped with the worship team and the youth group.
He enjoyed fishing, often taking friends and relatives out on his boat. He loved tending his garden and fruit trees, canning, freezing, and making jelly. He loved making candy and popcorn balls for the grandchildren at Christmas.
A memorial service will be held Friday, October 7, 2022, at 11:00 AM CDT at the Chrisman Christian Church in Chrisman, IL. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM CDT. In leu of flowers, donations can be made to Chrisman Christian Church or Mt. Carmel School, Jackson, KY.

He attended Chrisman High School and then served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from August 1969 - March 1971. He and his wife Carolyn were married in 1972 and he retired from Paris Transport in 2015.
Keith is survived by his children; sons, James and Justin; daughters Janna Wolfe and Jill Torrey (Andrew); grandchildren, Naomi and Miles; sister, Jackie Redmon (Sublett). Keith was preceded in death by his parents and older brothers Walter Sr. and Donald as well as his wife, Carolyn Sublett (Coleman).
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Woodland Cemetery in Chrisman.

He is also survived by a son, William H. Lowe II (Marguerita) of Kingman, AZ; a brother Bruce Lowe (Debbie) of Chrisman, IL; and a granddaughter, Leah Lowe. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Melissa Kay Lowe.
William had lived in Sidell for twenty years, having previously lived in Catlin and Chrisman. He worked as a farmer and enjoyed gardening and fishing.

Tom was born November 18, 1956, in Clinton, IN, to Earl William and Emily Joan (Harwood) Nolen. He married Debra Jo (Glick) Nolen on April 25, 1981, at the Chrisman First Baptist Church; she survives.
He is also survived by four children: Laura Watters of Rantoul, IL, Reed Nolen (Lisa Frailey) of Chrisman, IL, Lindsey (Cole) Grafton of Hume, IL, and Jodie Nolen (Kyle Taylor) of Oakwood, IL; eight grandchildren: Emily, Holden, and Zoey Watters, Gabriella Nolen, Elsie, Nolen and Louie Grafton, and Henley Taylor; six siblings: Bill (Monica) Nolen of Winter Haven, FL, Lori (John) Brengle of Metcalf, IL, Mary Liebe of Chrisman, IL, and Harry (Carissa) Wiseman of Chrisman, IL; Deb (Don) Baker of Chrisman, IL, and Vic Baugh (Jamie Rhoads) of Chrisman, IL; his mother-in-law: Shirley Glick of Chrisman; a brother-in-law, Joe (Marci) Glick II of Scottsdale, AZ; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Tom was also expecting his ninth grandchild, baby Grafton, in June, and his first great-grandchild, baby Watters, in July.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Bill Nolen and Joan Wiseman; his stepfather: Phil Wiseman; his father-in-law: Joe Glick; and his brother: John See, Jr.
Tom was a farmer, and worked for Lewsader Farms, Rogers Farms, and Glick Farms.
Tom enjoyed vacationing in Las Vegas and Florida, the music of George Strait, gambling on slot machines, playing the card game “golf”, his Ol’ ‘95 truck, and Coors Lite beer. He liked being outdoors, whether mowing, crop checking, or country cruising, and will be remembered for his Sunday Fun Days, which were for doing laundry and watching sports.
Tom was loved by his many friends, and will be particularly missed by his dear friends, Rusty and Becky Krabel.
His greatest joy was spending time with his beloved family. He and Deb shared almost 41 years of marriage, and he never minded that she couldn’t be on time for anything. He was especially fond of loving on his grandbabies and pups.

She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl (Steve) Garst of Paris, IL; two grandchildren: David (Gloria) Scott of Naperville, IL and Anna Garst (Peng Chen) of Wesley Chapel, FL; seven great-grandchildren: Levi (Christy) Scott of Lombard, IL, Cameron Scott of Naperville, IL, Sienna Scott (Teddy Cloyd) of Danville, IL, Spencer Scott of Hoopeston, IL, Taylor Scott of Hoopeston, IL, Alexander Garst of Wesley Chapel, FL, and Michael Oliver Garst of Wesley Chapel, FL; two step-grandchildren: Jesslynn Cloyd of Danville, IL and T.J. Cloyd of Danville, IL; a granddaughter-in-law: Trina Duckwitz-Scott of Danville IL; and several nieces and nephews. Lucille’s first great-great grandchild is expected in May. She was also preceded in death by one brother, one sister, and a grandson: Rick Scott.
Lucille was a lifelong resident of Chrisman and member of the Chrisman Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School well into her nineties. She loved flower gardening, was an avid reader, and enjoyed crochet.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 28, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Chrisman, IL. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. She married John Craig in 1959, and they were married for thirty-nine years and had three children: Terri Beals (Steve Rogers) of Chrisman, IL, Lorri Gilkerson (Dave Mohler) of Chrisman, IL, and Troy (Rachel) Craig of Chrisman, IL.
She is also survived by six grandchildren: Christen (Mike) Reed of Chrisman, IL, Casey Spesard (Drew Lorenzen) of Chrisman, IL, Luke (Kim) Beals of Barrington, IL, Jake (Sierra) Beals of Paris, IL, Quinton (Blake) Craig of Chrisman, IL, and Sheyenne Craig; eight great-grandchildren: Savanna and Saige Reed, Graham Beals, Hayden and Harper Spesard, Brenden and Evan Beals, and Brynnleigh Craig; and two nephews: Doug and Dan Pierce. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother: Richard “Dick” Pierce.
Sonna was a member of the Chrisman United Methodist Church and belonged to the Wednesday Morning Coffee League in Ridge Farm. She enjoyed bowling, yard work, horse shows and tractor pulls. She was a homemaker and also previously worked at Pat’s Fashion in Danville.

He is also survived by four children: Scott Bishop of Sioux City, IA, Todd Bishop of Ridge Farm, IL, Leslie Williamson of Chrisman, IL, and Brandon Bishop of Dennison, IL; three sisters: Barb Louden of Atwood, IL, Sharon Wardrip of Lovington, IL, and Mary Collins of Hume, IL; and seven grandchildren: Dakota, Olivia, Emma, Briston, Waylen, Jaxon, and Bayne. He was preceded in death by his father, Verlin Bishop, his mother, Justine Bishop, and a grandson, Wyatt Williamson.
Larry was affectionately known as “Bish,” “LawnMowerMan,” and “Papa” to his friends and family. He was a member of the Vermillion Grove Friends Church and served as a Boy Scout Leader. He was very loved and cherished by a lot of people and had always put a smile on your face regardless of the situation. Larry was a machinist at Thyssen Krupp for 45 years and then enjoyed his short retirement. There wasn't a day that went by that Larry wasn't either working on a lawnmower, chainsaw, or small engines. His passion was his working hands. Larry showed so much love to his serving wife Ruth Bishop that they were always inseparable. Larry loved to spend time with his family and grandkids and teaching them lessons on how to do things even if it was how to turn the screwdriver the right way. Larry also enjoyed "buggy" rides with his family as well.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and an infant sister.
Mary was a member of the St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Georgetown, IL. She was a homemaker, and found joy in her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved taking care of her family.

Obituary Preview: Larry Max Yaw was born March 25, 1941 to Lawrence Temple Yaw and Beulah Mae Fields Yaw in Terre Haute, Indiana. He married Dorothy Carole Bonwell on July 11, 1964 and she survives. He passed away on December 19, 2021. Mr. Yaw was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Derrick McCormick. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, one sister, Patricia Norris of Jenison, MI, four daughters: Lisa McCormick of West Palm Beach, FL; Elizabeth Yaw (Ahmed) Al-Khalifa of Doha, Qatar; Elaine (Karla)Yaw of Chrisman; and Allison (Dio) Parks of Lexington, KY; and five grandchildren: Amber McCormick of West Palm Beach, FL; Cody Parks of Lexington, KY; Ensign Austin Parks of the U.S. Navy; Nasser Al-Khalifa of Doha, Qatar; and Max Gabriel Parks of Lexington, KY.
Larry loved Reese’s Cups, horses, horse racing, casinos, basketball (especially Elaine and Allison playing and Illini basketball), football and working with his sawmill. He enjoyed watching the grandchildren play, and especially watching Derrick play basketball and football, Amber and Cody running track and cross-country, and Austin, Nasser and Max playing soccer. The highlight of his summers in the 80’s & 90’s was taking daughter Allison to the horse shows and watching her barrel race on Fizzbomb and show English on Barbie, where they made many friends.
He was very proud of his four daughters and their professions. Lisa is a nurse; Elizabeth was in Healthcare Finance; Elaine is an Associate Professor; and Allison is a Special Education teacher. It was his hope for them to get their Doctoral degrees: Elizabeth has started on this path in a doctoral program of Global Leadership.
Larry was involved in several activities: Chrisman Area Community Club, Chrisman Horseshow Association, Superintendent of the Edgar County Fair Western Horseshow, past member of the Edgar County Farm Bureau Board, Brouilletts Creek Township Clerk, and Multi-Township Assessor.
He graduated from Blackhawk High School, Saint Anthony Hospital School of Radiologic Technology and attained a B.S. degree in Life Sciences from Indiana State University. He worked as a Radiologic Technologist at Saint Anthony Hospital for many years. He left Radiology and farmed with his brother-in-law, Eddie Bonwell, in Edgar County, Illinois for several years. He then went back to the Radiology field and was instrumental in starting the Radiologic Technology Program at Ivy Tech Community College and served as the Director of the program for three years. Larry later started a mobile Radiological Company, Quarter Rad, Inc., that provided x-ray services to Nursing Homes and Prisons. In 2005, he sold the company and retired to pursue working with his sawmill.

Obituary Preview: The Reverend Dale H. Trimberger, of rural Chrisman, passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family with assistance from Haven Hospice. His death came after a 4 month struggle with pancreatic cancer.
Rev. Trimberger was born to Hugo and Minnie (Buddinger) Trimberger on October 15, 1940 in Granton, Wisconsin. He attended Zion Lutheran Grade School and Granton Public High School, graduating in 1958. He enrolled at Concordia University in St. Paul, Minnesota and transferred to Concordia Senior College in Ft. Wayne, Indiana receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1962.
In that same year, 1962, he enrolled at Concordia Theological Seminary in Springfield, Illinois. He graduated from the Seminary in 1966 receiving a Master of Divinity after serving a one year internship in the inner city of Rochester, New York.
He was married to Karen Jo nee Hack on September 22nd 1962 at Zion Lutheran Church in Granton, WI by Rev. L. Schreiber. He is survived by his wife of 59 years. The couple was blessed with two children. Their son, Joel (Kimberly) Trimberger resides in Fort Mill, South Carolina and their daughter Ann (Mel) Titus resides in rural Chrisman, IL who survives him. He also is survived by one sister, Elaine Trimberger, of Kaukauna, Wisconsin.
Rev. Trimberger had varied and exciting ministries in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod including the following: instructor in theology at Concordia University in Ann Arbor, Michigan; parish pastor at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Poy Sippi, Wisconsin; hospital chaplain at both St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, Wisconsin and Lutheran Medical Center in St. Louis, MO; director of Southeast Missouri Lutheran Family and Children’s Services in Cape Girardeau, Missouri; and Director of Pastoral Care at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Columbus, Indiana.
During their retirement years, Dale and Karen have lived in Lake Ozark, MO, in Paris, IL, in Fort Mill, SC and in Chrisman, IL. They were able to live in close proximity to their children for the most part and enjoyed those experiences.
The visitation for Rev. Trimberger will be Sunday evening, October 24, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Krabel Funeral Home in Chrisman, IL. The service of celebration of life will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 25, 2021 at the Funeral Home. The service will be a private family service by invitation only. Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church and School of Danville, IL or to Lutheran Indian Ministries of Brookfield, WI.

He is also survived by his mother: Patricia Phipps of Chrisman, IL; three children: Shanna (Ted) Fisher of Catlin, IL, Mandy (Jon) Heath of Chrisman, IL, and Sarah (Ben) Setzer of Paris, IL; a brother: Dan (Mary) Phipps of Chrisman, IL; and five grandchildren: Drake, Preston, Paxton, Spencer Henry, and Stevie Lee. He was preceded in death by his father.
Ran was a lifelong resident of Chrisman. He was an active member of the Chrisman Church of the Nazarene, where he also served on the church board and as a trustee. He owned and operated Phipps Church Builders since 2004. He built several churches across Illinois and Indiana. Ran enjoyed fishing in Canada at Austin’s Lodge. He will be deeply missed by his family, his church, and his community.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021, at the Chrisman Church of the Nazarene from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held following the visitation, beginning at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Hoult Cemetery. He was born at home April 3, 1936 in Stewardson, IL the son of Kermit Halden and Bertha Louise (Carnes) Frailey. He was a member of the Ramsey Christian Church from the age of 9. Kermit was preceded in death by his loving parents and precious granddaughter, Aubrie Anna Broxham.
Kerm’s family meant the world to him, and everyone looked forward to his famous homemade pizza and smoked turkeys at the holidays. In 1977 Kerm married the love of his life, Charlotte Sue (Craig) and promised his love to her “Until The Twelfth of Never”. Kermit is survived by Charlotte, his sweetheart and wife of 44 years. Left to cherish his memory are his 4 children: Karen (John Wallace) Frailey of Simpson, IL; Doug (Stacey) Frailey of Westfield, IN; Susan (Phil) Frailey Broxham of Elgin, IL; David (Tami) Frailey of Marshall, IL; and 3 step-children: LaRinda (Steve) Alexander, Craig (Missy) Kindred, LuCinda “Cindy” (Dillon) Brazelton, all of Chrisman. He leaves 16 grandchildren grateful to have known their Grandpa: Rachel (Nick) Hale of Lynchburg, VA; Ben Frailey of Westfield, IN; Mason Broxham of Pittsburgh, PA; Eli Broxham of Nashville, TN; Shannon (Lacey) Frailey of Chrisman; Travis Frailey of Chrisman; Halley Frailey and Jeremy Frailey of Marshall, IL; Ryan (Cherina) Alexander of Chrisman; Tyler (Josh) Alexander of Danville, IL; Kyle (Layney) Alexander of Chrisman; Justin (Amanda) Kindred of Chrisman; Jordan (Megan) Kindred of Mark, IL; Jocelyn (Ryan) Grunkemeyer of Johnstown, CO; Alexis Kime of Chrisman and Colton Brazelton of Chrisman; 14 beloved great-grandchildren; and his dear sister, Eleanor Cole of Champaign, IL. In addition, Doc will be dearly missed by Office Manager Jaime Witherspoon and Office Assistant Karla Morgan.
K.W. Frailey’s Veterinary Clinic in Chrisman has been in continuous operation for 61 years, since 1960. In 2016, Doc Frailey said “When I die, I’ll quit working.” He saw his last clients on July 22, 2021. He credited his father with helping foster a young boy’s love of dogs into the idea of becoming a veterinarian.
Kermit grew up in Ramsey, IL and graduated from Ramsey High School in 1954, where he met his first wife, Beverly (Moore) Frailey. After studying in the pre-vet program at Eastern Illinois University for 2 years. Kermit then attended the University of Illinois Veterinary School from 1956-1960. Upon graduation he purchased the veterinary practice of Dr. R. W. Abell, and moved his young and growing family to Chrisman, where he lived for the rest of his life. Doc’s practice involved caring for large and small animals. In the 1990’s Kerm was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and he said his own health experience melded into how he practiced veterinary medicine. “I do alternative therapies on myself and that has changed the ways I approach animals.” Clients brought their animals from far and wide to benefit from his special touch. Doc never tired of learning new ways to heal and was relentless in his quest for alternative solutions to health problems. As he put it “I’m still learning. It keeps me excited.”
Kerm was a sportsman who enjoyed hunting upland birds and deer as well as fishing. Every spring he looked forward to mushroom hunting in the woods. Doc was well-known as a pitcher in regional fastpitch softball leagues in both IL and IN. He set a record in 1971 as the first person in Illinois Class B Softball to pitch a perfect game. Doc was a loyal St Louis Cardinal and Illini fan. Kerm’s U of I Alumni Class of 1960 remained close over the decades and loved spending time together. Doc worked the Paris Livestock Sale Barn and Georgetown Fair for many years. He served on the Chrisman school board in the 1960’s and was a member of the Chrisman Lions Club. Kerm also served on the Longview Bank & Trust Board of Directors.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 21, 2021, 11:00 AM, Woodland Cemetery, Chrisman, IL. All friends and family are welcome and lawn chairs are encouraged for the outdoor memorial. Bob was a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and graduated from the University of Illinois in 1956. He operated a veterinary practice in rural Bargersville, IN for over 40 years. Bob was an active member of his community throughout his life. He was a faithful member of Mount Auburn Methodist Church, Providence Christian Church and the Chrisman United Methodist Church and served in many capacities. Bob was a member of the Masonic Lodge, previously served as Chairman of the Board at Franklin Bank & Trust in Indiana, volunteered as a local 4-H leader, and participated in the Johnson County Folk Music Society. He enjoyed running and ran in five different marathons, including the Boston marathon. After his retirement, he enjoyed helping his son on the farm and traveling, especially to Belize. He will be fondly remembered as a man who loved and served his family and community well.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, one son: Steven W. Morris, and one brother: James F. Morris.
He is also survived by three sons: Robert D. (Nancy) Morris of Chrisman, IL; Richard F. (Laura) Morris of Stoughton, WI; and Timothy J. (Janet) Morris of Fairfield, OH; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A graveside funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Hoult Cemetery in Chrisman.
