He grew up in Sherrard, Il and graduated from Sherrard High School, where he played football as their kicker and also ran hurdles in track for the Sherrard Tigers. In his younger years, Curtis was a member of the National Guard, working as a Tank Track Specialist.
Curtis graduated from ITT with an Associates’ degree in Auto CAD Drafting. Curtis was very mechanically adept, and his ability in this field led him to a position with the Boeing Corporation as a Draftsman. Just like his father Norman, Curt was also a very gifted welder, and also an excellent welder-fabricator for the oil field industry. He also owned and operated his own mobile welding truck. Later on in life, he obtained his CDL and was a truck driver for a number of years, and finally retired after many years of hard work.
On October 16, 2012 in Virginia City, MT, Curtis was united in marriage to Holly Sue Cross. He chose this date because it’s opening day of elk season every year, and knew he would always remember their anniversary.
Curtis was a cowboy and loved living out west—he always considered Ennis, MT his true home. He felt this was God’s country and this is where his soul could thrive.  Living in Montana allowed him to pursue his favorite hobbies of hunting elk and deer. He also loved fly fishing, and was an excellent fly fisherman. The Madison River is a blue-ribbon trout stream, and Curt felt blessed to have it less than a mile from his front door. Curt would often note, “a bad day of fishing is better than a good day of work”. He also loved his mustangs, and was proud of the horses that he raised. He returned to Iowa with Holly a few years ago to be closer to family.
Those thankful for sharing in Curtis’ life include his wife Holly of Salem IA; 4 children – Cord Anthony and his wife Presley of Montana, Levi Anthony of Wyoming, James Anthony and his wife Melissa of Massachusetts and Edna Smelser and her husband Carl of Oregon; a sister – Julia Wayne and her husband Kevin of Washington and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and lots of extended family and friends who all loved him.
His parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and a brother in infancy, Jerry Lee Anthony, preceded Curtis in death. Curt loved God, country, family….and the mountains. “Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things. Love never ends.”  1 Corinthians 13:7-8 Curt is truly Home now and what a party they are having in Heaven right now. Not to mention, Jesus is showing Curtis His favorite fishing holes! It’s never goodbye, only see you soon. “But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like a day.”  2 Peter 3:8
