Walter Eugene “Sam” Damron, age 65, of Catlettsburg, Kentucky, passed gently away on April 25th, 2024.
Walter, affectionately known as “Sam”, was born on in the fall of 1958 on October 12th. He was the blessing of the late David “Shorty” Damron and Fannie McKenzie Damron who resides in Catlettsburg,KY. Sam attended Boyd County High School and worked as a Machinist for Imperial Sugar. Like most from Kentucky, Sam loved UK Basketball and never missed a Cats game. He also loved the Cincinnati Bengals. Sam was “handy”, a real jack of all trades. He loved to fix and tinker with things. He had a giving heart and was always willing to help others. Sam loved being outdoors and was often found in the water fishing. He had a caring heart and a sweet soul. Losing Sam left a void that will only be filled by the love and treasured memories he leaves behind.
In addition to his mother, Sam leaves behind his loving daughter Krystal Damron and her finance’ Cedric “Sixx” Williams of Catlettsburg, KY, one son Samuel Damron also of Catlettsburg, KY, seven precious grandchildren Donaven Whitehead, Camaron Collins, Maeson Collins, Katelyn Damron Freitas,Dominque McKenzie, Chance Anderson and Chryssie Anderson, a host of great grandchildren, three brothers Roger Damron of Catlettsburg, KY, Gary Damron and his wife Danielle of Catlettsburg, KY, and Billy Damron also of Catlettsburg, KY, and three sisters Barbara Poff and her husband Jim of Baltimore, MD, Brenda Jude and her husband Bill of Grayson, KY, and Becky Mullins of Catlettsburg, KY. Also surviving is his devoted companion, his cat, “Cookie”, and many extended family members and friends.
In addition to his father, Sam is preceded in death by his loving wife Terri Rose Damron, his two brothers Kenny Damron and Jack Damron, and one sister Edna Jent.
A funeral service to honor the life of Sam will be held on Tuesday, April 30th, 2024, at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home, located at 2702 Panola Street, Catlettsburg, beginning at 4pm with Chaplain Jimm Smedley officiating. Visitation for friends and family will take place prior to the service from 2pm to 4pm.

A grandmother’s love lasts forever, and although she is gone, she is everywhere.
Dora Jane “Janie” Jordan, age 80, of Catlettsburg, KY, went to be with her Heavenly Father on April 25, 2024.
Dora was born just as winter was turning into the spring on March 16th, 1944. She was the blessing of the late Hobart Greene and Eva Childers Greene. Dora was a graduate of Ashland Highschool. She spent her life as a caretaker  not only to her family but also as a Home Care Aid for Disabled Veterans. She had a very giving nature about her and loved to be in the comfort of her family and friends. Dora loved caring for her garden and being outdoors. She had a creative heart and loved to keep her hands busy sewing, cooking, and baking. Dora had an unwavering faith and belonged to Hyland Heights Baptist Church. Dora was a loving mother and cared deeply for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with them and showering them with love. Dora was loved by her family and friends and will be missed by all.
Dora is survived by one daughter Lisa Jordan, her loving grandchildren, Chase Jordan, Sarah Jordan, Alexia Jordan, Devin Wheeler, Alainna Wheeler, and Eric Jordan, great grandchildren, Ariella Wheeler, Katerina Wheeler, Astrid Wheeler, Cassander Wheeler, Alexander Tomlin, Maverick Caskey, Felix Caskey, Gotham Jordan, Walker Wheeler and Gwenivere Hill. Also surviving is her lifelong best friend Martha Guy and a host of extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Dora is enjoying a Heavenly reunion with one son ARon Jordan and with her sisters Jacqueline, Rosemary, and Pauline Greene, and one brother Hobert M. Greene JR.
A visitation for friends and family will be held at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home located at 2702 Panola Street, Catlettsburg, KY, from 11am to 12:30 pm on Friday, May 3rd. Words of comfort will be offered by Pastor Jeff Ferguson beginning at 12:30pm. Dora will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Burial Park following the visitation beginning at 1:00pm.

Danny Ray Ball, age 61 of Ashland, Kentucky, passed gently away on April 22nd, 2024.
Danny Ray Ball was born on November 3rd, 1962, to the late Donald Gene and Georgene Preston Ball. He was a 1981 graduate of Paul Blazer High School. Danny enjoyed feeding the hearts of Boyd County as his time as Assistant Manager of Burger King in Ashland, KY. He was employed there for over 20 years. Danny had a knack for finding rare things. He was an avid collector of Hot Wheels Cars and Baseball Cards. He enjoyed the thrill of finding treasure. Danny was a beloved Father and Grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family. He had a caring heart and a gentle smile that will be missed by all who loved him.
Danny leaves behind his two loving children Danielle Carpintero and her husband John of Ashland, Kentucky, and Danny Ray Ball II and his wife MariBeth of Louisa, KY, two precious grandchildren Erika Ball and Kyra “Ellison” Carpintero, former spouse, and mother of his children Vickie Riggs Ball of Ashland, KY, and one brother Keith Ball and his wife Wanda of Westwood, KY. Also surviving is his devoted companion and furbaby, his yorkie Georgie, and a host of extended family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Danny is preceded in death by one brother David Ball, and one sister Debbie Dove and her husband Eddie.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 29, 2024, beginning at 1pm at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens with Pastor Kim Gabbard officiating. A visitation for friends and family will be held at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home located at 2702 Panola Street, Catlettsburg, KY from 11am to 12:45pm.

Randall Scott Earl, age 50, of Catlettsburg, KY, began his ride to his Heavenly Home, March 26th, 2024, after passing peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Randall was born on February 5th, 1974. He was the beloved son of the late Carl Curtis and Janice Carol Earl. From the young age of six Randall found a love for rock and roll music. His passion for drumming would result in him spending a big portion of his life making music. He loved to collect and shoot guns. Randall had a sense of adventure and loved to ride his Harley. He found peace in the purr of the motor and the open road. It was one of his happy places, however his happiest place was beside his children. Randall was a wonderful dad, and he had a love for his children like no other. He had one of the purest hearts, it was full of love and selflessness. Randall would do anything he was capable of to help anyone who needed him. His faith was unwavering, and his family takes comfort knowing he is at the side of his Heavenly Father rejoicing. Randall was loved by his family and friends, and his passing leaves a void in their lives that may only be filled with the love and memories he leaves behind.
Randall leaves behind his three loving children, Chase Taylor Earl and his wife Courtney of Catlettsburg, KY, Chelsea Lynnette Earl of Ashland, KY,and Kensington “Chalee” Grace Earl also of Ashland, KY, one precious grandchild Lovelynn Chase Earl, one sweet bundle of joy due in April, Sladen Bo Earl, former spouse and devoted mother to their children, Tammy Lynnette Earl of Ashland, KY, one brother Carl David Earl and his wife Kris of Catlettsburg, KY, one sister Christy Tackett of Catlettsburg, Ky, and lifelong best friend Rodney Crisp of Ashland, KY. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Randall is enjoying a Heavenly reunion with his brother-in-law Christopher “Whammy” Ray Tackett. Tails were wagging and tears were shed when Randall reached the rainbow bridge on his ride and was greeted by his devoted companion, his dog Bentley Boy.

Jesse Arley Silver, age 63, of Catlettsburg, KY, was taken from us from both unexpectedly and too soon, on March 25, 2024.
Jesse was born on a wintery day in Washington, DC on January 21st, 1961. He was the beloved son of late parents William Arley and Odessa Marcum Silver. Jesse graduated from Boyd County High School in 1979 and went on to obtain his business degree at Ashland Community and Technical College. It was after graduating college that he remained at the school for over 40 years of service in the Registry Department where he was, most recently, the Assistant Registrar. Jesse served his county proudly as a United States Marine Veteran. He loved keeping his hands busy outside tending to the yardwork and gardening. Jesse was an amazing cook. He loved to make huge dinners around the holidays. He would feed the hearts and bellies of his dearest friends and family and would always be found in front of the television searching for his next recipe on the cooking shows. Jesse always found peace through music. In his younger years he would play beautifully on the piano and in most recent years it was the melody and lyrics of his most cherished artist that would bring him joy. Jessie was a dedicated husband, stepfather, grandfather, beloved co-worker, and friend. He was loved beyond measure and will be missed just the same.
Jesse leaves behind his loving husband, whom he has been united with for 13 years, Mark D. Mullins, two stepchildren and grandchildren, one brother Malcom, and three sisters Sharon, Libby, and Patty. Also surviving is his devoted companion and “Furbaby” Puddles, and many extended family members and friends.
Jessie was met just across the rainbow bridge by his beloved Maggie.
A memorial service to honor the life of Jesse Arley Silver will be held at a later date.

JoAnn was born on March 13, 1953. She was the blessing of the late Alfred Edward and Ruth Crabtree Williams. She was a graduate of Boyd County High School. Following graduation JoAnn earned her beautician license and shortly after opened JoAnn’s Beauty Shop where she worked diligently to take care of her clients for over 50 years. JoAnn believed that her biggest accomplishment in life was her children and family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She leaves behind a void that may only be filled with the memories and love she left behind.
JoAnn is survived by her loving children, Scott Hill and his wife Valerie of Catlettsburg, KY Cindy Parsons of Flatwoods, KY, and Kevin Hill and his wife Jessica of Catlettsburg, KY, precious grandchildren Landon Parsons, Ryan Griffith, Abbi Cordle, Braxton Hill, Lacyn Black, Hannah Wilks, Howie Wilks, and Bailey Wilks, three brothers Bobby Williams and his wife Diane of Cookeville, TN, Aurthur Williams and his wife Debbie of Southpoint, OH, and Donald Williams and his wife Teresa of Catlettsburg, KY, one sister Linda McKenney and her husband Joe of Nicholasville, KY, and two brothers-in-law Earl Jenkins of Catlettsburg, KY, and David Bowling of Rush, KY. Also surviving are her lifelong special friends of whom she thought of as family, Mike and Jo Amos of Catlettsburg, KY, as well as many extended family members and friends.

Doris Kiser, age 63, of Ashland, Kentucky, passed gently away at Kings Daughters Medical Center on February 28th, 2024.
Doris was born in the fall of 1960 on October 28th in Ashland, Kentucky. She was the blessing of the late Annabelle Stewart Miller. Doris was a proud graduate of Boyd County. Doris had a creative spirit and loved to work with her hands painting beautiful pictures and crocheting treasures her family will cherish for a lifetime. Doris loved to travel and found her peace on the shoreline of a sandy beach. She had a competitive nature when it came to games and Bingo. Doris loved seeing all the people that came to visit her at work. She worked for the iconic Crisp’s Dairy Treat where she served pretty much everyone in Boyd County. Doris was a Christian and had a wonderful relationship with God. Her faith was unwavering and there is no doubt she is rejoicing in heaven. Doris loved her family and cherished the time they spent together over the years. The memories they made will carry on in their hearts and stories for years to come.
Doris leaves behind her loving husband of 15 years, Gary D. Kiser, her devoted children Bobby Leadingham (Crystal) of Ashland, KY, and April Carter (Mike Marshall) of Huntington, WV; her precious grandchildren Ashley Dawn Traugott, Jacob Taylor Leadingham, Starla Ann Brooke Gipson, Emilee Ann Leadingham, Michael Scott Leadingham, Austin Eugene Leadingham, Hailey “Reese” Leadingham, and Alie Jo Leadingham, great grandchildren, Renesmae Jane Jordan, and one bundle of joy on the way, Scarlett Jolynn Leadingham; one brother Keith Miller (Linda) of Boyd County, KY, four sisters Pam Caudill (Randy) of Ashland, KY, Audrey Moore (Greg) of Ashland, KY, Bernese Thacker (Darrell) of Ashland, KY, and Debbie Sprouse (Arlis) of Ashland, KY. In addition to her parents, Doris is reunited with two brothers Richard Gambill and Bill Miller, and one son in law Ricky Carter.

Mack Aubrey Damron, age 53, of Flatwoods, Kentucky, passed gently away on February 20th, 2024.
Mack was born in the early days of the new year on January 17th, 1971, in Richmond, Virginia. He was the blessing of the late Jack Damron and Lois Billips who resides in Wayne, WV. He attended Tolsia High School and retired from McKenzie Auto in 2018 where he worked as a Mechanic. Mack loved many things in life, but fishing was his true passion. Anytime he could be near the lake he was happy and something about casting a line brought him peace. Mack also loved a good card game and the spirit of competition. He also cherished his family and friends very much. He had a kind heart and a gentle smile and will be missed for many years to come.
Along with his mother, Mack leaves behind the love of his life for over 18 years, Lisa Clark, six beloved children Danielle Neace and her husband William of Ranger, WV, Shawn Damron of Jacksonville, NC, Bethany Clark and her fiancé Bret of Huntington, WV, Kristin Clark and her fiancé Tyler of Flatwoods, KY, Sarah Rollan and her husband Jonathan of Fairfield, IL, and Karissa Bayer and her fiancé Ethan of South Point, OH, seven precious grandchildren Tyler Neace, Ova Neace, Sunnie Neace, Ainsley McClellan, Emerson Scott, Blade Blake, and Braiden Blake, one sister Stacy Estep and her husband Eric of Russell, KY and one brother-in-law David Wiley of Catlettsburg, KY. Also surviving are his lifelong friends Jamie McKenzie, Jason Simpson and Paula Napier, as well as many extended family members and friends.
In addition to his father Mack is preceded in death by one sister Melissa Meek.

Franklin Delano Brewer Sr., age 90, of Catlettsburg, Kentucky passed gently away on April 24, 2024.
Franklin was born in the winter of 1934 on January 20th. He was the blessing of the late Herman and Alloha McCoy Brewer. Frank was a graduate of Man High School in Logan County, West Virginia. He retired from Coal Industry in 1999. Frank had a musical heart and loved to play. He was very talented and entertained many playing beautifully on the harmonica and trombone and a variety of other instruments, he also loved playing music at Pickin in the Park. Franklin was loved by his family and friends and will be missed by all.
Frank leaves behind his beloved children, Nancy Clouse, Franklin Brewer Jr., Kenneth Brewer, and Terry Slone, ten precious grandchildren Rachel, Jason, Jennifer, Monica, Hollie, Allyson, Megan, Kennedie, Emmie, and Marlie, a host of great-grandchildren, one brother Howard Brewer, and two special nephews Okey Brewer and Warren Brewer.
In addition to his parents, Frank is enjoying a Heavenly Reunion with his former wife Janice Brewer, one son Harold Brewer, and four brothers Herman Brewer Jr., Harold Brewer, Hobart Brewer, and Ezra Brewer. He was also greeted just across the rainbow bridge by his beloved dog , Nikki, whom he loved to spend time with.

Lawrence Ray Robbins, age 68, of Ashland, KY, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on January 8th, 2024.
Lawrence was born in Boyd County Kentucky during the last days of fall in 1955 on November 11th. He was the cherished son of the late Edgar and Mazie Smith Robbins. He would be one of 11 blessings as Lawrence was born into a large family and had many siblings that would become his closest friends. He loved spending time with his brothers and sisters throughout his life and never missed a chance to get into a good card game with them. Lawrence attended Boyd County High School and remained in his hometown making a career as an Engine Operator at AK Steel and dabbling in the Concrete business alongside his son. Lawrence will forever be remembered as “Coach” to the young minds he shaped during his 15 years of coaching girls’ softball. When Lawrence wasn’t busy tinkering outside, he would run out to the country in Lawerence County. He had a cabin there where he always managed to find his peace of mind. Lawrence was a devoted father and grandfather who tried very hard to never miss a game. He always showed love and support for his family. Lawrence was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He leaves behind a void that will only be filled with the memories and love he left behind.
Lawrence leaves behind his loving wife of almost fifty years, Joanna Church Robbins, three devoted children Melissa Dailey and her husband Pete of Lexington, KY, Jason Robbins and his wife Christie of Ashland, KY, and Brenda Milward and her husband Chris of Lexington, Ky, seven beloved grandchildren, Johnathan Burn, Shelby Burn, Aiden Dailey, Noah Dailey, Garrett Dailey, Reagan Robbins, and Blake Milward, and two precious great-grandchildren Avery Corman and Mason Corman, four brothers Clay Robbins and his wife Ann of Ashland, KY, Jerry Robbins and his wife Vickie of Ashland, KY, Frank Robbins and his wife Debbie of Ashland, KY and David Robbins and his wife Pam of Ashland, KY, four sisters Brenda Jacobs and her husband Eddie of Ashland, KY, Peggy Gail Graff and her husband Ray of Rush, KY, Carolyn Thompson of Ashland, KY and Connie Bryan of Ashland, KY. Also surviving is his loyal “Furbabies” Cooper, Benny Blue, and Jeter, and a host of extended family members and friends.

Cheryl was born in the winter of 1956 on January 8th. She was the blessing of the late Andrew Downey and Irene Miller Kimberlian. Cheryl was a proud graduate Yoast High School. Cheryl also attended Ashland Community College and retired from the Ashland City Commission where she was a secretary for 35 years. Cheryl loved to get lost in the pages of a good book. Those chapters would take her on so many great adventures. Cheryl would read anything she could get her hands on. She loved to busy her hands with her sewing. She met with her family once a month for a sewing club although they probably got more gossip and eating done than sewing. Cheryl’s biggest passion in life was her grandchildren. She took so much pride in them. She helped to raise them and was involved with anything they had going on. To her children and grandchildren Cheryl was a Hero. She leaves behind a void in the lives of those who loved her that will only be filled with the memories that she left behind.

Lila J. Salyers Wiley, age 90, of Catlettsburg, Ky, went home to be with her loving husband on December 8th, 2023.
Lila was born in the Spring of 1933 on April 3rd. She was the blessing of the late Walter Salyers and Mae Robbinson Copley and her husband Lawernce. Lila was proud of her town and very proud to have attended Thomas R. Brown High School. She had a real love for the Christmas season so much so that she planned her wedding during it. Lila chose one of the hardest jobs of all to make her life’s purpose. She was a homemaker and all she cared about was making a loving home for the family to cherish. She would cook big meals that fed the hearts and bellies of those she loved. Lila was an amazing cook but was known to love going out for dinner. She was devoted to her grandchildren and loved to spend time with them. Lila went to all their events and was their biggest supporter. She was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was loved by so many and will be missed by all. Lila leaves behind four devoted children, Walter Wiley, his wife Jeanne, of FL, Randall Wiley, his wife Norbelita, of Winchester, KY, Connie Prince of Ironton, OH, and Lawrence Wiley, his wife Stephanie, of Enon, OH, ten precious grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren,
In addition to her parents, Lila is reunited with her loving husband of 64 years, Chester Beull Wiley, one grandson Adrian WIley, one son-in-law Rick Prince, two brothers James and Ray, and two sisters Jackie and Clara Mae.

David L. Ison, age 51, of Ashland, Kentucky, passed away gently on November 29th, 2023, at Kings Daughters Medical Center.
Dave was born on a warm summer’s day on August 16, 1972. He was the blessing of David Ison II and Marlene “Marty” Middleton Ison, of Rush,KY. David was a 1990 graduate of Boyd County Highschool. He furthered his education at Ashland Community and Technical College where he focused his attention on the trade of Brick Laying. He traveled the world as a ceramic brick welder. Dave would then go on to be the Business Development Manager of F.S. Sperry. He was a proud member of the East Fork Volunteer Fire Department where he kept his community safe for over 40 years. Dave had a passion for sports and loved to keep up with the University of Kentucky and Boyd County Baseball. He enjoyed being outdoors and could often be found in the hills of his farm hunting. Dave also loved to be at the dirt track. He was a man full of adventures and love. He was loved by many and will be missed by all the people he touched. He leaves behind a void that may only be filled with the love and memories he left behind.
In addition to his parents, Dave leaves behind his children Laney Fannin and her husband Wes of Catlettsburg, KY, Jessica Ison of Cincinnati, OH, Gavin Wells of Rush, KY, and Ainsley Wells of Rush, KY, 3 precious grandchildren, one sister Kelli Davis and her fiancé Jamie of Rush, KY, special Nephews Tanner Davis and Grahm Sparks; Uncles Denny Middleton and his wife Susan, Doug Middleton and his wife Brenda, and Greg Ison and his wife Deb. Also surviving is the love of David’s life Stacey Neace and his “In-laws-ish” Jerry and Kellie Sparks ,Dr. Zachary and Claudia Neace, and a host of special cousins and friends.
A funeral to honor the life of Dave will be held on Wednesday, December 6th, 2023, beginning at 1:00 pm, at Gospel Light Baptist Church, located at 1115 Trinity Lane, Ashland, KY, with Pastor Jason Porter officiating. Visitations for friends and family will be held prior to the service from 11am to 1pm. David will be laid to rest at Ross Cemetery following the service.

Warren Eugene Stewart, age 54, of Catlettsburg, KY, passed away a peacefully at Cabell Huntington Hospital on November 27th, 2023.
Warren was born in the final days of summer on September 13th, 1969, in Ashland, Kentucky. He was the blessing of Warren Stewart, who preceded him in death and Hazel Ellen Shockey Wells of Catlettsburg, KY. Warren was a lifelong resident of Boyd County and graduated from Boyd County High School. He was enjoying his retirement from the Labor Local Union 1445. Warren loved being outside and spent many days working in the yard or just on the banks fishing. He found his peace outdoors. He had an ear for music and enjoyed it very much. His taste in music was very broad and enjoyed many genres of music. He made the best memories enjoying a good concert with his daughter. Warren loved his family and his favorite way to pass the time was spending it with them.
In addition to his mother, Warren leaves behind his four children Ashlee Bauer and her husband Joseph of Peoria, IL, Hollie Ferguson of Greenup, Ky, Chase Stewart of Ashland, KY, and Warren Stewart of Ashland, KY, two precious grandchildren Madilyn Scappaticcio and Timothy Alex Ferguson, two brothers Christoper Blevins of Pennsylvania, and Jimmy Blevins and his wife Melissa of Louisa, KY, and two sisters Rita Britton and her husband Russ of Catlettsburg, KY and Regina Daniels and her husband Den of Rush, KY. Also surviving is one special Nephew Josh Britton and many extended family members and friends.
In addition to his father, Warren is preceded in death by his wife that he loved so much, Toddy, his grandmother Louise Shockey, one brother George Stewart and Aunt Sharon White.

Stella Ross, age 76, of Ashland, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on November 7th, 2023, at Boyd Nursing, with fond memories of her family on her mind.
Stella was born in the early days of Spring on March 19th, 1947. She was the blessing of the late Reese and Verda Newsome Griffith. She was a 1965 graduate of Paul Blazer High School and she furthered her education at Ashland Vocational and Technical School, where she obtained her Licensed Practical Nursing Certification. She would use this certification to help heal the hearts in her community at Ashland Hospice. Stella selflessly served her community for over 30 years through hospice until her retirement in 2012. When Stella wasn’t nursing, she busied her hands with crafts. She loved to paint and do cross stitch. She made many treasures her family will cherish for a lifetime. Stella had a fun-loving soul. She loved to shop and listen to music and joke around with her family. She leaves behind many friends and precious family who will miss her dearly.
Stella leaves behind her two loving children Heather Kirtley and her husband Tolbert of Ashland, KY and Ronall Don Ross also so Ashland, KY, three precious grandchildren Alexandria Cossett, Cameron Cossett, Verda Ross, four great grandchildren Waylon Amburgey, Aubrey Duke, Mason Duke, and Liam Duke; three sisters Shirley Rice, Hellen Clair, and Kathleen Thompson, and one brother-in-law David Rice. Also surviving are many extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Stella is reunited with her loving husband of 48 years Ronall Ray Ross.

Garry Lee Malone began his journey home with the strength he found from having his loving daughter by his side on October 26th, 2023.
Garry was born a little over two weeks into the new year on January 17th, 1957. He was a blessing to the late Jacob Junior and Clyta Clark Malone. He grew up with the love of a big family, being one of twelve children. He attended Boyd County High School and developed a knack for construction. Garry was a very talented concrete finisher, and his work still stands along the streets of Ashland. He was one of the hardest working men his family ever seen, and he will remain an inspiration to their goals for the rest of their lives. Growing up with many siblings Garry developed a feisty personality and a heart full of strength. It was this strength that pulled him through his many battles over the last three years. It is his strength that will be instilled in his family for many years to come. He loved many things in life like the friendly competition in a good game of pool, and a relaxing day fishing on the riverbank, however it was time spent with his family and being a “Pap” to his grandson that he loved the most. Garry was loved by so many people and leaves behind a void in those lives that he touched that can only be filled with the love he left behind and the memories he made.

I guess you could say he was a skilled Appalachian Mountain Man. Carl was a proud Blackfoot Indian descendant. He was a devoted father to his only daughter, a loving brother, uncle, and friend. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Carl leaves behind one daughter Hazel Ward of Ashland, KY, three precious grandchildren Anna Traugett, Thomas Noffsinger and Eugene Noffsinger. A host of Brothers and Sisters, nephews, nieces, and extended family members.
In addition to his parents, Carl is preceded in death by his loving wife Anna Mae Shaffer Blankenship.

Jennings B. Lester, age 84, and lifelong resident of Kenova, WV, passed gently away on Saturday October 21st, 2023, while resting at home.
Jennings was born in the fleeting days of summer on September 5th, 1939 in Kenova, West Virginia. He was the blessing of the late Sampson and Lily Francis Lambert Lester. Jennings attended Ceredo-Kenova High School. He had a strong faith in the Lord and loved being in church alongside his brothers and sisters in Christ. Jennings had traveled to the Israel and enjoyed telling anyone who would listen about his travels there. He would give mustard seeds he brought back from the Holy Land. Jennings loved southern gospel and bible study. The most important thing to him was his walk with the Lord. His work on earth is done but there is no doubt Jennings is walking the streets of gold as one of the Lord’s servants. Jennings was a beloved father and friend, and he leaves behind so many who will miss him dearly. The void he leaves behind will be filled with the love and memories he shared with others.
Among those left behind are his devoted daughter Angela Tang and her husband Tat of Vancouver, British Columbia, four grandchildren Jacob Tang, Joey Tang, Tanner Lester and Sydney Lester and two great grandchildren Bryson and Kingston Lester of Huntington, and his much-loved nieces, great nephews, great nieces of the Goodrich Family.
In addition to his parents, Jennings is enjoying a Heavenly reunion with his beloved wife of 56 years Patricia Ann Ross Lester and one son John Lester.

Charles attended Boyd County Schools and furthered his education at Ashland Vocational School where he obtained his welding certifications. Charles made his living by first working at Callihan Construction before going into business for himself. He loved being outdoors and enjoying all that God’s Creation had to offer. He loved so many things in life but nothing more than spending time with his precious grandchildren. Charles felt that family was the most important thing in life. He was always there for his family with love and support. Charles was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was loved by so many and will be missed by all.

Barry was born on a Kentucky winters day on February 11th, 1958. He was born one of six children to the late Charles and Pattie Meade Penix. In his youth he attended East Hardin High School. From a young age, it was apparent that Barry made his own path and followed his own set of rules. He had a carefree spirit and a free soul. Barry lived his life the way he wanted to, and he was one of the most generous people you would ever meet. If he had it to give and you needed it, then it was simply yours. Barry enjoyed being outdoors fishing, and hunting, and spending time foraging in the woods. He also loved spending time on the tractor. He found peace out there. He was a loving father, brother, uncle, and friend to so many. He leaves behind a void in the life of those who knew him well that may only be filled with the treasured memories they made with him and the love he left behind.

David was born on July 4th, 1935. He was the blessing of the late Andrew and Eleanor Cumpton Marushi. He was a proud 1954 graduate of Thomas R. Brown and attended Marshall University. David was a 1996 retiree of Ashland Oil where he worked for over 40 years. David was a proud Navy Veteran and lifelong member of the Elks BPOE 350. David loved sports. He played basketball, softball and coached for the Elks BPOE 942. He was an avid supporter of the Ashland Football, Softball, and Baseball Teams. Anyone that knew David knew where to find him on a Saturday afternoon, he would be playing the odds at the dog track. He found peace out on the greens of a golf course. He attended Catlettsburg Community Church. He was devoted to his community and his town. David loved all things Catlettsburg and was a proud active member of the Catlettsburg Depot Board and also served as a Catlettsburg City Councilman for over 8 years. David was a devoted grandfather and always supported his grandchildren in their activities. He was a doting father to his children, and a loving husband to his late wife. David had a kind heart and the sweetest smile. He never met a stranger and was generous to all. He was loved by all and will be missed by all.
David is survived by his two loving children Shane Marushi and his wife Cindy of Ashland, KY and Julie Crum and her husband Scott of Ashland, KY: Four precious grandchildren, Hayley Kilburn, Madison Burgess and her husband Andrew, Cameron Marushi, and Brady Marushi, one sister Nancy Vanhoose and one sister-in-law Victoria Marushi. Also surviving is his loyal buddy, his dog ” Mister” and many extended family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, David is walking the streets of gold in Heaven with his loving wife of 50 years, Betty Marushi, two brothers Jack Marushi, Bill Marushi, one sister Betty Thacker, one sisters-in-law Lois Marushi and Eloise Barnette Marushi, and two brothers-in-law Jack Vanhoose and Albert Thacker.

Marilyn had a strong faith in the Lord and was a lifelong member of the Kavanaugh Methodist Church. Marilyn was a loving mom and sister who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Paulette loved her family and friends and leaves behind many to cherish the memory of her.

John Paul Black, age 52, of Ashland Kentucky, passed gently away on August 27th, 2023, at Kings Daughters Medical Center.
John was born on a cold day on November 27th, 1970. He was the blessing of the late Kenneth and Ruby Black. He was a graduate of Boyd County High School. John loved being outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. John also found peace in taking long drives in the county. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and grandchildren. John was loved by many and will be missed by all.
John leaves behind his loving wife of 22 years Stephenie Black, devoted children James R. Duley and his wife Brittany of Ashland, KY, Eric Dalton of Ashland, KY, John Tyler Black of Portsmouth, OH, and Katie Whitt and her husband Kyle of Ashland, KY; grandchildren Carson, Madison, Stacy, Ruby, and Kenneth, two brothers Kenny Black and his wife Peggy of Ashland, KY and Ralph Black and his wife Barbara of Ashland, KY; and one sister Sara Barrett and her husband James of Ashland, KY. Also surviving is his mother-in-law Nancy Sagraves, and two sisters-in-laws, Christol Mosley and her husband Steve of Arizona and Angela Peters and her husband Bobby of Mt. Orb. A Host of extended family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by one sister Vickie Adkins and one father-in-law James “Joey” Sagraves.
A visitation for John will be held on Thursday, September 7th, 2023, at Neal Funeral Home, from 12pm to 1:30pm, followed by a graveside service at Black Cemetery in Durbin beginning at 2pm.
