Terry was born on September 20, 1968 in Normal to Glenn William and Charlene Moore Marlett. He married Theresa Marlett on April 3, 1987.
Surviving are his loving wife of 35 years, Theresa Marlett; children, LaTasha Marlett, Terry Marlett, Jr., and Monica Marlett; siblings, Brenda (Roger) Durbin, Greg (Chris) Marlett, Debra (Daniel) Boitnott, and Julie Marlett; 9 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two nieces, Jennifer Marlett and baby girl, and an uncle, Edward Marlett.
Terry was well known in the community for being the driver for Candyman Ice Cream since 1988. He was also employed as a groundskeeper for Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Norma was born on April 22, 1928 in Springfield, a daughter to Edmund and Elta (Russell) Gorsek. She married Ronald W. Scott on September 12, 1976 in Bloomington. He preceded her in death on October 19, 2016. Surviving are her children, Sharon (Robin) Houchin of Mackinaw, Gary (Rhonda) Baugh of Mason City, Vicki (Kenneth) Griffin of Bloomington, and David (Sally) Baugh of Bloomington. She was a grandmother, great- and great-great-grandmother to sixty-nine blessed grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, and a granddaughter. Norma grew up in Springfield, later moving to Bloomington. There, she worked for many years as the supervisor of the traffic division in the McLean County Clerk's Office. She was involved, and served, in McLean County Republican Politics and held various positions. Norma’s joys consisted of her husband Ron, her family, and their annual fall trips to the North Woods. Norma will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Carolyn was born on April 12, 1934, a daughter to Finley "Jack" and Edna (Craig) Taylor. She married Harold W. Cruser on February 18, 1954 in Chenoa, Illinois. He preceded her in death on April 2, 2016.
Surviving are her children, Jim (Mary) Cruser, Tom Cruser, and Jack (Deb) Cruser, all of Bloomington; daughter-in-law, Terri Cruser of Bloomington; siblings, Don (Alice) Taylor of Sun Valley, California, Louise (Marv) Springer of Delavan, Charles (Alyce) Taylor and Ken (Elly) Taylor, both of El Paso; fifteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter, Cali, son, Mike, and step-granddaughter, Jessica.
Carolyn was a homemaker and also a partner, with her husband, in their car repair business, Cruser Auto Repair. She and her husband were both founding members of Calvary Baptist Church, where she was an active member.  Carolyn loved to learn about her family’s genealogy.

Rubie was born on September 12, 1927 in Jackson, TN, daughter to Woodie and Pearlie Bomer Person. She married James Caldwell on March 22, 1950 in Fort Scott, KS. He preceded her in death on June 11, 2006.
Rubie is survived by her children, Victoria Caldwell of Bloomington, Karen (Timothy) Marion of Huntsville, AL, and James Edward Caldwell of Bloomington; grandchildren, Victoria Lynn (Isaac) Uwaila of Chicago, Joseph Wesley Caldwell of Bloomington, Gabrielle (Steven) Brown of Normal, and Britney Nicholas of Bloomington; great grandchildren, Joseph, Janelle, Carlyse, and Steven; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Margaret was born on March 17, 1932 in Congerville, daughter of Henry and Louise McBurney Siebert. She married Marvin O. Stark on September 9, 1951 in Bloomington. He preceded her in death on November 24, 2008.
She is survived by two daughters, Beverly (Steve) West and Peggy Stark, both of Normal; grandson, Steven (Wendy) West II of Bloomington, and great grandson, Ian West.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Dorothy Siebert, and a brother, Louis Siebert.
Margaret graduated from Normal Community High School in 1950. She was employed briefly with State Farm, Montgomery Ward, and as a nurses aide at BroMenn Medical Center. She worked in the cafeteria at Unit 5 from 1965 to 2001 and assisted with bookkeeping for her husband’s business, Marvin’s Dump Truck Service until 1984.
She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and restoring antique trunks with her husband. Margaret was a loving mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed.

Private family services will be held and a public celebration of life will be held at a later date. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements. Olivia was born July 11, 1996, in Peoria, the daughter of Tom and Melinda Galeaz. She is survived by her parents; sister, Maria Galeaz; nephew, Gio; grandmother, Carole Lindor; and many aunts, uncles, great-aunts, great-uncles, and numerous cousins. Olivia graduated from Normal West Community High School with the Class 2014 and attended Heartland Community College. She had worked at the theatre and also as a pet sitter for cats and dogs. While in high school, she participated in chorus, but her favorite activity was being a member of FFA. This was mainly due to the respect and patience her favorite teacher, Doc, showed her. She loved all animals, especially her cat, Hanah, and her dog, Teddy. Olivia enjoyed cooking and trying out new recipes she found on the internet. She also looked forward to the many holiday gatherings with family and friends, and also the family vacations to Walt Disney World, Yellowstone, and the many points in between. As she frequented local grocery stores and restaurants, it was unusual if there wasn’t an owner or employee she would strike up a conversation with. Olivia always found time to play with her young nephew, Gio much to his delight. Olivia had a big heart and could never find fault in anyone she met and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Rest in Peace, Honey; we all love you.

He is survived by his three daughters Brittney Hanke, Desiree Hanke, and Trisha Hanke: ten grandchildren, Saniyah Hanke, Taiyveon Hanke, Lavont Hoit, James Carroll, Azariea Carroll, Alexandra Hanke, Adrièlle Rowry, Amylah Hayes, Cynthia Hayes, and Mi`Yani Rowry. Also surviving is one sister Janet Hanke; nephew, Anthony (Jennifer) Stephen, and a niece, Nora Stephen.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild Zayden Rowry.
Frederick enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was a proud United States Army Veteran. What he enjoyed most was spending time with his friends and family, his three daughters and grandchildren were his whole world. Frederick will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Reverend Dr. Brigitte Black - December 07, 1958 - April 06, 2022

Obituary Preview: Reverend Dr. Brigitte Black was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 7, 1958 and accepted the Lord as her personal savior at a young age. While a youth, the family relocated to Gary, Indiana where she received her education from the Gary Public School Corporation.  After graduating from West Side High School Brigitte received her Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. After working several years as a Senior Systems Analyst, she felt the call to the ministry.  To further her studies, she earned a Master of Divinity from Garrett Theological Seminary and her Doctor of Divinity with an emphasis in grief counseling from Christian Theological Seminary.
Brigitte was a proponent of racial justice and equality even at a young age. She attended Operation Breadbasket with her family, led by the Reverend Jesse Jackson. She learned to have respect for herself as an African American. As an adult, her mantra was a quote from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. who said, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” This was her motivation for promoting social justice and change.
Brigitte Black served as an overseas missionary to the 14th Episcopal District, including Ghana, Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire and Sierra Leone. In her ministry, she was very active in the communities where she pastored. In Bloomington, Illinois she was a member of the Public Safety and Community Relations Board, the African American Ministerial Alliance, McLean County Interfaith Alliance, Not in Our Town steering committee and many more.  She was also the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions, including a nominee for Women of Distinction award in 2021 and the winner of the “I Have A Dream” Award in 2022. She was called to pastor Wayman AME Church in Bloomington, Illinois in September 2016 and served as the senior pastor until her passing. Prior churches where she was the pastor are Bethel AME Church in Lafayette, Indiana, Coppin Chapel AME Church in Indianapolis, Indiana and Bethel AME Church in Des Moines, Iowa.  She felt a special bond with the parishioners and surrounding communities from all churches where she was a pastor.  One of her favorite bible verses was Micah 6:8(b) - “What does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
Brigitte made her transition to be with The Lord on April 6, 2022 in Bloomington, Illinois after a battle with cancer. She fought to the end and considered each day a precious gift from God. She was preceded in death by her immediate family members: her parents, James (Jr.) and H. Blandenah Black, and her brother James Black III.  She leaves to cherish her loving memories, her brothers Geoffrey (Terri) Black and Gregory (Rebecca) Black, her nephews James Williams Black and Christopher Black, her niece, Sydney Black and a host of cousins and other relatives. She will also be cherished by her childhood friends, Rodney and Patricia Graves.
Homegoing services will be Thursday, April 14, 2022 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Bloomington. Visitation will start at 10:00 a.m., with the service starting at 11:00 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be left to the Community Cancer Center in Normal or to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Downs.   Florence was born on November 19, 1928, in Roseville, Michigan, a daughter to Russell and Winifred (Wager) Winkler. She married Alvyn J. Schopp on February 7, 1948 in Roseville, Michigan. He preceded her in death on January 28, 2010.   Surviving are her children, Kathryn (Ron) McBroom of Genoa, Camilla Winterland of Girard, Connie (Gary) Koerner of LeRoy, Alvyn (Joanne) Schopp of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Russell (Jana) Schopp of Bloomington, and Bob (Julie) Schopp of LeRoy; son-in-law, Ron Mays of Springfield; twenty-five grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.   She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Coleen Mays; son-in-law, Roger Winterland; two sisters, several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.   Florence was a bookkeeper at Marlow’s Appliances in Chenoa until retiring. She was most recently a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Downs.

Dorothy was born August 27, 1929, in Chatsworth, IL, the daughter of Frank and Lissie Dubree Crews. She married Herman F. Mittelstaedt, Jr. on December 14, 1956, in Bloomington. He died October 13, 2001.
She is survived by two sons, Fred (Melissa Weitzel), Valparaiso, IN and Mark (Kelly), Springfield, IL; four grandchildren, Laura Mittelstaedt, Rachel Mittelstaedt (husband, Michael Furdyna), Grace Mittelstaedt, Luke Mittelstaedt; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Ruth Bryant, and her brother, Boyd Crews.
The family wishes to thank the Martin Center for the care they gave Dorothy over the last year. The family also thanks Linda and the late Mike Mouser, and Debbie and the late Ronnie Bull for always being there when Dorothy needed them.
Dorothy was educated in the Chatsworth schools, and she worked for the David Davis Law Firm and McLean County Court reporters. She treasured her family and enjoyed family gatherings. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, thoughtfulness, and wisdom.

Five nephews, Antaeus Williams of Chicago, IL, Ian Williams of Chicago, IL, Jemal Haney of Chicago, IL, Jarvis Payne of Chicago, IL, and Brian Williams Jr of Chicago, IL; A sister, Janet Williams, and three brothers, Steve Williams of Chicago, IL, Keith Williams of Chicago, IL, and James Williams Jr of Chicago, IL. She is also survived by one aunt; Mitri Gilmore of Chicago, IL and one uncle; Keith Gilmore of Chicago, IL. A sister-in-law Andrianne Williams of Normal, IL also survives. Renee was also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by two brothers David Williams and Brian Williams.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3p.m. on Saturday April 2nd at Word of Life Church in Bloomington. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. till the time of the service.

Barbara was born on November 12, 1950 in Bloomington, the daughter of Louis “Tiger” and Verna Stautz Thompson. She married Chester Sears on June 11, 1969 in Saint Charles, MO.
Surviving are her loving husband of 52 years, Chester Sears of Shirley; children, Eric Sears of Normal, Angela (Jason) Smith of Rochester, and Nicole (Terry, Jr.) Higgs of Heyworth; brother, Rodger (Patty) Thompson of El Paso, TX, 3 granddaughters and 5 grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Mike Thompson.
Barbara strived to make an impact, raising many children over the 40 years she provided in home childcare. Her love and lasting impression caused her to accumulate many indirect family members. Barbara enjoyed cooking and feeding everyone. She loved cruising with Chester and was a member of Twin City Cruisers. Barbara especially enjoyed family get-togethers and the time she spent with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Fisher; her grandparents, James and Marie Fisher; her aunt, Debbie Yow; and her grandfather, Frank Jabieski.
Samantha graduated from Hairmasters Institute of Cosmetology in Bloomington, and she loved doing hair.  She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and she enjoyed nothing better than a good softball game.  Samantha was fiercely loyal to her family and friends, and she loved her kids and grandkids more than anything.  Samantha’s beautiful smile and contagious laughter will be missed.

Obituary Preview: Patricia A. Wright, was born in Chicago on Friday, June 12, 1942, the 2nd child of the late Harold Greene Nelson and Velma Louise Goldston Nelson. Patricia was baptized at the Greater Metropolitan Baptist Church of Chicago. She was a graduate of Betsy Ross Elementary School and of Englewood High School. A lifelong Chicago resident, her early years were spent living with her family at 59th & Michigan, and later, at 66th & Maryland. Many of the youthful friendships she made while living in these neighborhoods continued throughout her life. Patricia was truly a “people person.” Wherever she went, she knew someone, and if she found a place where she knew no one, by the time she left, someone would know her. She was fun-loving and lived life to the fullest, she was the life of many a party. Her brother and sister were her pride and joy, and she loved to “big sister” them. Patricia enjoyed listening to “dusties,” and like to play cards. She loved entertaining family and friends and loved to cook. Her favorite saying was, “Deal!”, and when you asked her how she was feeling, she’d say, “With my hands!”
In her later years, the company of her sister and grandchildren brought her much joy.
Patricia passed away on March 16, 2022. She leaves behind many cherished family members and friends to mourn her, including her children, Petra Kirkendoll (deceased), Hilton (Rashanda Dean-Wright) Wright, Jr. and James (Shay Young) P. Steve was born on December 18, 1945, in Bloomington, the son of Max and Mary Walker Norton.
Surviving are his son, Lane Norton; grandchildren, Nicholas Carter and Bree Desmond; and sisters, Susan (Mike) Manahan and Jane (Don Wilcox) Sumrall, all of Bloomington. He is also survived by nieces, Molly Armstrong and Jen McGinnis, and a nephew, Stephen Manahan.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and a niece, Kate Hartrich.
Steve graduated from Bloomington High School and was active in sports, especially wrestling. He attended Illinois State University.
He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart among other honors.
Steve began his restaurant career at Barney’s on South Main in Bloomington. He managed several local restaurants, including The Caboose in Bloomington and The Tabard Inn in Lexington, both of which he later owned for many years.
Steve was a loving son, brother, friend, uncle, father, and grandfather, whose grandchildren meant the world to him. He will be greatly missed.

Larry was born April 21, 1947 in Bloomington, IL, son of Louis Lee and Sarah Louise Williams Lowery. He married Virginia McKinley in 1968. She survives him. Also surviving is his daughter, Wendy (Chad) McKenzie and two grandchildren, Hadley and Haden McKenzie of LeRoy. His sister Loretta Corum of Downs also survives him, as well as several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, John Wade Lowery (1969-1972), his parents and two sisters, Lynda Lowery Burns and Lori Ann Lowery, and his brother-in-law, Dennis A. Corum.
Larry enjoyed his roles as carpenter, photographer, scoutmaster, and youth leader. Larry will be remembered for the time he spent with Scout Troop #56 and time spent with the Wesley UMC youth. He enjoyed his many years as owner and operator of Flash Photo in Eastland Mall, as well as his years working at Chuck’s Harley Davidson. He loved all animals and especially enjoyed the companionship of his beloved dog, Lucas.

She married Don Gore in 1956, he preceded her in death. She later married Herman “Whitey” Leischner on February 14, 1976 in Normal. He preceded her in death on May 6, 2017.   Surviving are her children, Todd Gore of Port Barrington and Ryan (Amy) Leischner of Inverness; sisters, Pat Sargeant of Union Grove, Wisconsin and Lois Wiley of Savana, Georgia; and grandchildren, Taylor Gore of Elgin, Steven Gore of Arlington Heights, Vanessa Gore of Port Barrington, Natalie Leischner and Evan Leischner, both of Inverness.   She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Don and Whitey, and sister, Carolyn Ader.
After Bonnie moved to Bloomington, she began working for Beichs Candy Company. Her work later was in the accounting and insurance business and later she worked in the Building and Zoning Office for the McLean County Government for over twenty years.
She loved her family, friends, and spending time with them. She enjoyed and lived her life to the fullest, and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Surviving are her daughters, Lindsey Carrier of Normal, Jessica (Codie Moews) Sigler of Bloomington, and Morgan Sigler of Bloomington; grandchildren, Loralei Carrier, Temperance Carrier, Sawyer Carrier, Morson Sigler, and Cash Gordinier; mother, Linda (Roy) Keller of Camdenton, Missouri; sister, Lori (Steve Dubosh) Troman of Bloomington; and nephew, Michael (Sarah) Troman of Fowler, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her father, Larry Troman, grandmother, Phyllis Gruber, and son-in-law, Travis Carrier. Also preceding her in death was her faithful dog companion, Pumpkin.
Kim loved spending time with her children and grandchildren as often as she could. Her favorite things to do with them included crafting, going to the park, and going out to eat. She was an avid baker and enjoyed spending time in the kitchen. Those who knew Kim, knew that she was never far from a can of Diet Coke and her cell phone. She very much enjoyed talking to her loved ones as many times a day as they would answer. She will be missed and loved by family and those who knew her.

Willie was a devoted father, grandfather, mentor, community servant, and leader. Willie was born on December 8, 1947 to his parents Percy Brown Sr. and Addie Mae Lewis in Fairfield, Alabama and raised in Bloomington, Illinois. He was a graduate and Hall of Fame member of Bloomington High School and Illinois State University. In 2009, after 38 years of service, Willie retired as an Executive Vice President of State Farm. His servant leadership and devotion to the community made him one of Bloomington-Normal’s most prominent leaders. Willie served as an Advisory Board member for the Colleges of Arts and Sciences and Business at Illinois State University and Board Trustee at Illinois Wesleyan University, in addition to other boards including the State Farm Foundation and the United Way of McLean County. He was a member of the Urban League, the100 Black Men of America of Central Illinois, and a lifetime member of the NAACP.  The Roy Wilkins’ Award for Lifetime Achievement from the NAACP, the William Watkins Jr. Founder’s Awards from the African American Hall of Fame Museum in Peoria, and the Community Icon Award from the 100 Black Men of America, Inc. were among the many honors Willie received for service to the community.
Willie is survived by his loving children and spouses: Michael and Melissa Brown, Michele and Dan Honoré, and Marcus Brown; sister and brother: Pearlene Redd-Pitchford and Aaron Johnson; his devoted partner the Honorable Judge Carla Barnes and her children Ryan and Carl Barnes and Hailey Harvey; and seven cherished grandchildren: Kali and CeAyra Brown, Kharé, Kijahn, and Jaryn Honoré, Kyle and Brandon Brown.

Surviving are his children, Robert (Alicia) Hougas of Normal, Kerry (Jim) Mounce of El Paso, Kristie Hougas of Towanda, and Kathryn (Steven) Castro of Yokosuka, Japan; sister, Susan Roberts of Farmer City; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one grandson.

Merrial "Sonny" Willner - September 12, 1936 - March 04, 2022

Obituary Preview: “Sonny” Merrial Willner June 12, 1936 to March 4, 2022
Sonny Willner passed away with his family at his side.  He joins his wife Peggy, whom he met on a blind date, April Fool's Day 1960 and his granddaughter, Olivia Orwig in Heaven.  He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1955 and proudly served his country for 20 years and 19 days.  During the mid-50's 3 unique squadrons were formed as part of the Aero Material Command, one of them at Robin’s Air Force Base Georgia, known as the 7th Logistic Support Squadron.  Sonny was selected and proudly served in this squadron.  The 7th Log consisted of a group of specially trained and skilled pilots, crew members and ground support personnel whose duties were highly classified.  The purpose of the 7th Log was to support the Department of Defense in special weapons defense.  The members of the squadron shuttled components throughout the world, on the Douglas C124C-Globemaster, and the Robins 7th Log unit was the primary mover.  Sonny took on this risky assignment because it was necessary for the preservation of our country’s defense.
He retired from the USAF in 1975 and relocated his family to Illinois where he spent the next 20 years working for GTE before his second retirement.  He then spent several years driving cars for different dealerships only to retire a third time to care for his wife prior to her passing.
Sonny is survived by his daughters Carla (Steve) Pinneke and Merle (Doug) Orwig.  Granddaughters,  Lauren (Chuck) Johnson and Josie (Meg) Holderby.  He was Big Granddad to Russell and Ellie Johnson his two great grandchildren.  He is survived by many other family members.
