Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to honor and celebrate the life of the deceased, while also providing important information to those who knew them. They help to notify others of the person's passing, share details about their life and accomplishments, and provide information about funeral services and memorial donations.

Who typically writes an obituary?

In most cases, the obituary is written by a family member or close friend of the deceased. Funeral homes or crematories may also offer assistance in writing the obituary, or provide templates and guidance to help families craft their own.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the person's full name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, military service, hobbies, achievements, and surviving family members. It may also include information about funeral services, memorial donations, and any other relevant details.
