Mazetta (Mae) Frances Waden Whitaker, the daughter of the late Floyd Waden, Sr and Luvenia Bookhart Waden, was born on June 14, 1948 in the Killian Community of Richland County, South Carolina. She was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 3, 2021.
Mae was a 1966 graduate of Bethel High School. Before graduating high school, Mae was an active member in Girl Scouts of America and was chosen with a small few to attend the 1965 Girl Scout Round Up in Idaho. Mae produced three generations of Girl Scouts: her daughter, two granddaughters and a great granddaughter.
After graduating from Bethel, Mazetta attended Job Corp in Maine where she received her General Office Clerk certification.
Mrs. Whitaker was a loving and devoted wife of 32 years to the late Richard M. Whitaker.
Mazetta was a dedicated member of Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church. She was a member of the church softball team. She served as president of the Usher Board for many years and was an active member of Musical Choir and Women’s Ministry. She also taught Sunday school and was the cofounder and director of the CJ Jackson singers.
Mae enjoyed sharing her love for God and her life experiences through poetry.  She also had a talent for arts and crafts. She was well known for her custom wreaths and floral arrangements.
Mazetta loved her family and enjoyed entertaining family and friends. Her house was the always welcoming.
Mrs. Mazetta was preceded in death by her four brothers Christopher T. Waden Henry F. Corley, Theodore H. Corley and Floyd Waden, Jr.; son-in-law Vincent Daniels.
Those left to share her legacy of love and precious memories are her two loving and devoted children, daughter Keeva Whitaker Daniels and son Elton (Latarsha) Whitaker both of Columbia; two step-sons Richard Tucker of Shreveport, Louisiana and  Vincent Brown of Columbia; a loving sister Juanita (Perry) Hopper; a loving niece Bridget Corely who she assisted in rising;ten loving grandchildren, Jordan (Kenninetra) Daniels, Whitaker Daniels, Makenzie Daniels, Cannon Whitaker, Logan Whitaker,  Kali Whitaker, Christopher Johnson, Jayln Brown,  Laeden Tucker and Collin Tucker of Sheveport, Louisiana; great-grand Taylor Daniels; one great-aunt Namoi Waden; three sisters- in- law, Alberta Waden, Precilla Wright, Viola Townsend, Connie (Samuel) Young; three brothers-in-law, Perry Hopper, Elroy (Cynthia) Whitaker and Samuel Young; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
