Albert Rubbert - March 01, 1928 - February 09, 2018

Obituary Preview: Albert Rubbert passed away after a brief illness on February 9, 2018. He is pre-deceased by his parents Otto and Helen (nee Steinberg) and brother Otto and niece Linda Fortman. He is survived by his beloved wife of over 64 years Patricia (Burke) known to all as "Beans". There are six surviving children, Bill (Diane) Rick, Pati, Chris (Lisa), Kathy (Larry) and Ed (Elisa) and several grandchildren including Devin and Edward McGuinness, Melissa and Jessy Rubbert, Lauren Wells and step grandchildren, Christina Gibson, Christy and Michael Bamberger, David Wells, Marc and Mick Robbins.
Al was a phenomenal athlete at Cliffside Park H.S. excelling in football, basketball, baseball and track. He was known to go from the baseball field and then run the 100 yd dash. He earned an athletic scholarship to Muhlenberg College and played in the prestigious National Invitation Tournament (NIT) which at the time was more notable than the NCAA Tournament and March Madness. He later played professional football and basketball. He then served proudly in the Army Paratroopers, 82nd Airborne. He then served in the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in the early 50's as an undercover operative in Eastern Europe.
He began a career in Public Transportation as the General Manager in the Port Authority of NY & NJ during the 1970's. Albert was one of the six Founding Fathers of NJ Transit which became the model of public transportation in the 1990's. As a high level executive at all of his jobs he always had time to say "hi" and "how are you" to receptionists, janitors and secretaries, etc. He was not only a gentleman but a "Gentle Man".
He was known by all as having a great sense of humor, a smile for everyone and the life of the party. He and his wife travelled extensively throughout their lives alone and with good friends. He will be dearly missed by all that were lucky enough to know him.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 am on Wednesday, February 14 at St. Augustine's Church, 114 S. Main Street, New City, NY. Burial will be in Frederick Loescher Veterans Cemetery, New Hempstead. Calling hours will be Tuesday, February 13th from 4 - 9 pm at the Joseph W. Sorce F.H. Barbara C Kellum - August 27, 1933 - September 13, 2017

Obituary Preview: Barbara C. Kellum had a reprieve from Cancer for twenty two years , before slipping away on 13 Sept. 2017. She is best remembered for her interest in people around her. She had a phenomenal memory for names and family details, which served her well all her life. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Barbara was born in Vermont on August 27, 1933 to parents Clifford and Doris Casavant. She was a basket ball player in high school and attended Girls’ State as a delegate. In 1954 she became a registered nurse, graduating from a three year program at Lenox Hill Hospital School of Nursing in New York City.
17 September 1955 is the date she married 1st Lt. Rotui M Kellum who was a pilot stationed at an Air Defense radar site near St Albans, Vt. The young couple started a family consisting of three boys, William M. and twins Benjamin C. and Bruce R. Kellum.
This twenty year Air Force family was stationed in Vermont, South Carolina, England, France and Arizona.
The Kellum family moved to West Nyack, New York in 1975, when Rotui was hired by the FAA at Kennedy Air Port. Barbara was the editor of her Lenox Hill Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Newsletter, The Echo, for twenty three years. She also organized reunions for her class. She formed a Neighborhood Watch for her neighborhood in W. Nyack and led it for many years. Barbara was a knitting machine and made sweaters for her family and friends. She also knitted dish cloths, which she gave away constantly across the USA and became known as the Johnny Appleseed of dish cloths. Barbara was a dog lover and would keep several of her neighbors’ dogs when their owners had to travel with-out them. This was not a business, but a labor of love.
Since her children were located on both coasts, she and Rotui would drive cross country to visit them, while also attending Air Force reunions scattered across the country. This resulted in their having visited all fifty states.
Barbara is survived by her husband, their three children, Bill/Elizabeth, Bruce/Ruth, Ben/Jeannie and five grandchildren, Daniel, Matthew, Aaron, Zachary and Faith, two special granddaughters, Alyssa/Michael and Elena and her sister Betty, (Armand) L'Esperance, and brothers William ( Pat) Casavant, Peter (Lois) Casavant, sister-in-law, Marimari Kellum and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the son of the late Arthur and Irma Landau. Arthur moved from the Bronx to New City in 1959. He was married to the love of his life, Margaret, for 65 years. He served in the US Navy from 1945-1946 and was awarded the Victory Medal, American Theater Medal, and Active Pacific Medal 1 Star. Arthur joined the FDNY in 1953. He served first in Ladder 27 then went to Rescue 3. Throughout his career in the fire department he received numerous Certificates of Merit for acts of bravery. He retired as a Supervising Fire Marshall. He was also a member of the FDNY Florian Society.
He is survived by his wife Margaret, his 3 children: Tom (Jeanie) Landau, Meg (Craig) Landau Caselli, and Brian (Kerry) Landau. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Kara, Kevin, Kate, and Taylor.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at the Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home, Inc. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10 am at St. Francis of Assisi Church in West Nyack. Burial to follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery in Nanuet.

She is the daughter of the late James and the late Mary (Walsh) Ancona. She married the love of her life Philip A. Vallone on September 25, 1954 in Cliffside Park NJ. They were married for 61 years. Gloria and Philip moved to Rockland County in 1956 where they raised their family.
Gloria is survived by her husband Philip A., children Elinor (Todd) Romer, Rock Vallone, and Catherine (James) McCarthy. Grandchildren Thomas and Catherine Goeller, Charles (Erin), Philip, and Erin McCarthy, and many nieces and nephews.
She is Pre-Deceased by her sister Elinor and brother Joseph.
Gloria was very active in St Anthony's Parish in Nanuet, and was active and devoted to the Blessed Mother Sodality.
She was an expert seamstress and designer who designed and constructed wedding gowns in her home. She was also very artistic and made many craft projects along with her husband. They made custom furniture and designs for the American Girl dolls for over 20 years.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 am on Tuesday, May 31 at St. Anthony's Church, 36 West Nyack Rd., Nanuet, NY. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Nanuet on Tuesday, May 31 at 11:00 am.

She received a Catholic education at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart and St. Catharine's; she graduated from Tappan Zee High School and continued her education at Sanford-Brown Institute. She worked as a dental assistant at County Dental in New City, NY as well as a customer service manager in the evenings at Stop N Shop in Orangeburg, NY. She had recently moved to Middletown, NY. Kristen loved to sing, dance, and take in the beauty of things; she truly cherished time spent with her family and friends. She is survived by her fiance Robert Perrotto; children Gianna and Maija; parents James and Anita Feddeck, brothers Jason and Jonathan Feddeck; sister Lisa Feddeck; uncles Juris Goba, Michael and Fred Feddeck; aunt Mary Feddeck; cousins James and Fred Feddeck, and nieces Briana and Aurora. A sincere, warm thank you to all of the doctors, nurses, and hospital staff that worked so hard and lovingly with Kristen.

DeNicola Sr. and his wife Joan of New Rochelle and Peter DeNicola of Bronx, grandchildren, John (Dino) DeNicola Jr. and his wife Melissa, Janine Gresham and her husband Jeff and Peter Anthony DeNicola. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Dakota DeNicola, Thomas and Alexandra Gresham.
Frances was predeceased by her brothers, Jack and Joseph Lombardo and sisters, Lilly Buongiorno, Jennie Diorio and Lena Ruggerio.

Charles was born in NYC, on September 1, 1912 to Ralph and Sabina (Santoro) Fasano.
Mr. Fasano married Philomena Cona on Oct. 1, 1939 in Brooklyn. During WWII, Charles worked as a civilian employee with the US Navy in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. He then worked as a Real Estate Appraiser in New York.
Charles loved gardening, BBQ's, the MET's and spending quality time with his family. He enjoyed life. He was a Life Member of the Blauvelt Fire Dept., belonged to the Rockland County Fire Police and the Rockland County Fire Association. Charles was a member of the Knights of Columbus, rising to the rank of 4th degree Knight.
He is survived by his wife Philomena Fasano, six children, Elizabeth Testa and her husband Warren of Hopewell Junction, Ralph Fasano and his wife Darunee of Pearl River, Angela DeGrout and her husband Robert of Courtland, NY, Phyllis Harding and her husband Robert of Middletown, NY, Carla Crowe and her husband Paul of Pearl River, and Regina Fasano of Suffern, NY. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren, two brothers: Jack and Jerry Fasano. Charles was predeceased by 5 brothers and 1 sister.

Obituary Preview: Clara A. Dempsey, of West Nyack, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2003 at Good Samaritian Hospital. She was 92 years old.
Clara was born Casimira Anna Leonowicz on January 29, 1911 to the late Anthony and Michialena (Novak) Leonowicz of Bridgeport, CT. In June 1925, she graduated with honors from St. Michael the Archangel School. She was fluent in Polish and English.
Clara worked as a nurses' assistant at New York Hospital; where she met William Desmond Dempsey. Clara and Bill were married on July 7, 1930. Clara raised her family in the Bronx (148th Street). She had very fond memories of the friends and families that lived on this neighborhood block.
Clara moved to Rockland with her daughter Irene in 1966. She was very loving and dedicated mother and grandmother. She enjoyed listening to music, dancing, reading, playing bingo, pokeno and cards. The most important thing to Clara was spending time with her family. Clara embraced life to the fullest.
Clara was a resident at Northern Manor Geriatric Center. She was an artist in resident. She enjoyed attending many of the social activities.
Clara is survived by her beloved and dedicated daughter Irene and son-in-law Anthony Savarese, Sr., grandchildren: Carrie, Lisa and Anthony Jr. Son William and daughter-in-law Paulette, grandchildren: William, Louis and Denise. Daughter Lorraine and son-in-law Emil Onofrio, grandchildren: Patsy and Yvette. Grandson Edward Dempsey, Jr.and several great grandchildren. Sisters Helen and brother-in-law Al Almeida of Mt. Vernon, Mary Walton of Topping, Virginia; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Clara was predeceased by her husband Bill, sons, Anthony (baby) and Edward, sisters: Vera Leon, Hedwig Standish and Theresa Avitable, brothers: Frank, Benny and Johnny.
Clara will live in our hearts always. She will be greatly missed.
