John A. Freidenbloom Jr., 79, of West Loop, rural Hollidaysburg, passed away peacefully with his daughter at his side, following a brief illness,Sunday, April 24, 2022 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown.
He was born in Hollidaysburg, son of the late John A. Sr. and Gretna M. (Stiffler) Freidenbloom.
Surviving are a daughter, Beth E. Smith (Dwayne) of East Freedom; three grandchildren: Brooke J. Hoover (Justin) of Martinsburg, Brittany E. Smith of East Freedom and Micaela J. Smith of Duncansville; seven great-grandchildren: Jaxon, Jase, Brooks, Diviney, Briley, Blake and Levi; two sisters: Verna "Cathy" Hillery of Houston, TX and Leona J. Jones of Ventura, CA; a brother, Dale F. Freidenbloom of rural Hollidaysburg; and three nieces: Gretna Jones, Casey Jones Bailey and Jamie Kennedy Williams.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruthanna M. Doerstler; and a nephew, Dale Curtis.
John was a 1960 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and attended West Loop Missionary Church.  He retired as a railcar mechanic in 2007 from Berwind White/Millennium Rail Inc., Hollidaysburg with over 40 years of service.
He loved railroading history, old trains and going to auctions.
Friends will be received from 4-6pm, Thursday, April 28, 2022 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg where a funeral service will follow at 6pm, Pastor David Foor officiating.  Private interment will be held at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, Altoona.

Robert “Rob” Raymond Webb, 55, East Freedom, formerly of State College and Williamsburg, passed away unexpectedly late Friday, April 22, 2022 at the Pittsburgh VA Medical Center.
He was born in Detroit, MI, son of the late Robert and Karen Della (Edmiston) Webb.
Surviving are three sons: Tyler R. Winters of Huntingdon, Logan T. Webb (Tylor Yarrison) of Mill Hall and Nickolas C. Webb (Keara Snook) of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren: Caden, Adaline and Rowan Winters; his stepfather, Jim Yuhnkey of Altoona; and three sisters: Susan Miller (Kenny) of Dearborn Heights, MI, Laura Skinner of Littleton, NC and Karrie McCall (James Lake) of East Freedom.
Rob was a 1985 graduate of Williamsburg High School and received his associate degree in Agricultural Business from the Williamsport Area Community College.
He was U.S. Air Force veteran serving from 1988 until 2000 attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.  Rob was employed as a clerk/mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, State College with a total of 15 years of service.
Rob was a member of the American Legion and loved spending time with his family.  He also enjoyed shooting guns at the range with his sons and also fixing and restoring classic cars.
Friends will be received from 11am until 1pm, Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg, where a funeral service will be held at 1pm, Pastor Tiffany Marvich officiating.  Interment with military honors will follow at the Williamsburg Lutheran Cemetery.

Betty F. Stern, 94, Martinsburg, went to join her Lord and Savior Tuesday evening, April 19, 2022, at her home.
She was born in Cessna, daughter of the late Humphrey and Mary E. (Walter) Heltzel.  On November 23, 1946, she married Paul H. Stern in Cumberland, MD.
Surviving are her beloved husband of 75 years; a daughter, Donna J. Bolesta (Ron) of Downingtown; two sons: Gary L. Stern (Anne) and Eddie J. Stern (Lorraine), both of Martinsburg; 17 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two children: infant son, Wayne and infant daughter, Deborah; and four siblings: Margie M. Heltzel, Richard E. Heltzel, Mary Jane Hoover, and Dorothy E. Showalter.
Betty was a graduate of Morrison Cove High School.  She was primarily a homemaker, that raised her family and assisted her husband, on the family dairy farm. Betty also worked as a cook for the Spring Cove School District.
She had a passion and interest for genealogy and over the years built and maintained a significant library of family history. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family and also found joy in flower and vegetable gardening around their home.
Betty was a faithful, active member of the Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church, where she taught Sunday School and volunteered in the nursery, where Betty loved rocking the babies.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 pm, Friday, April 22, 2022 at Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church and from 10 until the 11 am funeral service, Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the church with Pastor Brian L. McCall, Pastor J. Brant Leidy, and Mr. Daniel Horton, officiating.  Private interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.

Dawn Eleanor Locher-Snare, 88, of Williamsburg and currently a resident of Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Altoona, went home to be with her Lord, Sunday evening, April 17, 2022 at the home.
She was born in Woodbury Township, rural Williamsburg, daughter of the late George S. and Ethel L. (Everhart) Haney.  On December 31, 1953 she married Kenneth R. Locher, who preceded her in death on June 27, 1962. Then on August 13, 1965 she married Kenneth W. Snare, who passed away on July 17, 2000 following 34 years of marriage.
Surviving are six sons: Jeffrey W. Snare (Donna), Kenny Dale Locher, Richard H. Locher (Lisa), Roger W. Locher, Corey A. Snare and Eric J. Snare (Jessica); two daughters: Tammy L. Diller (Jerry) and Rosemary F. Flaig (Robert); 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sandra K. Norton.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Virginia Locher; five sisters: Audrey L. Miller, Anna M. Miller, Elizabeth L. Miller, Rosamond Haney and June Wilson; and two brothers: Neil Haney and G. Clifford Haney.
Dawn was a 1951 graduate of Williamsburg High School and a member of the Williamsburg Independent Bible Baptist Church.
She was a loving homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family, crocheting, reading and flower gardening.

Gwendolyn M. “Cookie” Appleman, 91, of Williamsburg and a current resident of The Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg, passed away Monday morning, April 11, 2022 at the home.  She was born in Alum Bank, Bedford County, daughter of the late Clark and Mary “Mimi” (Rouzer) Claycomb.  On January 24, 1949 she married Drew W. Appleman Sr. in Winchester, VA.  He preceded her in death on June 4, 2018 after 69 years of marriage.
Surviving are three sons: Drew M. “Bugsy” Appleman Jr. (Annie) of Altoona, A. Brady Appleman (Debbie) and Shawn T. Appleman; a daughter, Teresa A. Limbert all of Williamsburg; five grandchildren: Nathan Appleman, Natalie Houtz, Jennifer Ober, Jeremy Brua and Zachary Appleman; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Leoda Hopkins of Bellwood; and a brother, Logan Earl Claycomb in Maryland.
She was preceded in death by two grandchildren: Jessica Appleman and Joshua Brua; a son-in-law, David Limbert; and a brother, Lewis Claycomb.
Cookie was a 1948 graduate of Williamsburg High School. She was employed as an Avon Lady and also worked at Cove Shoe Factory, Martinsburg and as a cook for Carousel Restaurant “Gilda’s”, Williamsburg and also Bob’s Cradle Restaurant in Canoe Creek.
She was a longtime, faithful member of the Williamsburg United Methodist Church, where she served as custodian for many years.  Cookie also served on the Williamsburg Playground Association and for many years as a board member for the Williamsburg Community Center.
Cookie loved spending time with her family and also enjoyed being a Cub Scout Den Mother and helping at many of the Williamsburg High School Athletic Booster events.
A private celebration of Cookie’s life is being planned for a later date.  Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg.

She was born in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late John F. and Eva May (Hartman) Helsel.  On March 13, 1976 she married David C. Helsel in Bakers Summit.
Surviving are her beloved husband, David of 46 years; a son, Timothy L. Helsel (Stacy) of Claysburg; two grandchildren: Reiley C. Helsel and Emiley C. Helsel; three sisters: Vivian Kensinger of Bakers Summit, Sarah Gonsman (Ronnie) of Hollidaysburg and Pat McCaulley (Kevin) of Bellwood; a brother, Jack Helsel (Mary) of Martinsburg; and 24 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters: Sandy Helsel, Anna Mary Heinrich and Shirley Markle; and two brothers: Ronald E. Helsel Sr. and William C. Helsel.
Darla was a 1969 graduate of Central High School, Martinsburg and a member of Smith Corner Church, East Freedom. She retired from NPC, Claysburg with almost 20 years of service and had previously  worked for North American Communication, Duncansville, James Industry (Slinky), Hollidaysburg and Proctor Silex in Tyrone.
Darla loved spending time with her family, doing cross-word puzzles in the newspaper and keeping up with family and friends on Facebook.

Marguerite R. “Maggie” Hicks, 88, of Homewood at Martinsburg, passed away Thursday evening, April 7, 2022 at her residence.
She was born in Central Falls, RI, daughter of the late Emile and Rosamond (Berube) Guy.  On July 4, 1952 she married James Clark Hicks in New Bedford, MA. He preceded her in death on February 23, 1992.
Surviving are three sons: John D. Hicks (Isabelle) of Paris, France, James R. Hicks of Gettysburg and David A. Hicks (Sharon) of Pittsburgh; five grandchildren: Joseph C. Hicks, Michael J. Hicks, Jamie R. Weaver (Zayne), Sarah Hicks and Stephanie Hicks (Christopher Smith); a great-grandson, Lucas C. Weaver; and her companion, Frank McKay of Homewood.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Doris and Leona; and four brothers: Lucienne, Louis, Paul and Roseario.
Later in life, Maggie completed her GED and then in her 50’s, earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Chatham College, Pittsburgh.  She was employed for many years as a social worker in the Somerset area and also worked as an ombudsman for the Area Agency on Aging of Somerset County.
Marguerite was of the Catholic faith and loved flower and vegetable gardening, quilting, cross stitching and sewing.  She made many beautiful dresses for Catholic lay teachers.  Maggie was an honest, practical, and loving person, with a wonderful sense of humor.
Her family is planning a small, private celebration of life service for a later date.  Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.

He was born in Ganister, rural Williamsburg, son of the late Harry Ray and Hannah Elizabeth (Loose) Lee.  On January 4, 1963 he married Violet P. Cartwright in Frederick, MD.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 59 years; two daughters: Tammy L. Shultz and Pamela J. Dopp (Andrew); two sons: William R. Lee Jr. (Lisa) and Robert E. Lee (Carrie) all of Williamsburg; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Terry B. Lee (Janet); and three sisters: Charlene Dixon (Richard); Isobel Brown-Stiver (Ray) and Arlene Frederick (Robert).
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Brandi J. Tomasiello; a son-in-law, Jack R. Shultz; three brothers: infant Frances, Charles R. “Dukey” Lee and David E. Lee; and two sisters: Jeannette E. Aurandt and Mary “Eva Louise” Bookhammer.
Bill attended school in Williamsburg and later earned his GED. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving from 1962 until 1967, attaining the rank of Sergeant.
He worked over the years for the Blair County Children’s Home, Williamsburg, Pennsylvania State Hospital, Duncansville and also as a custodian for the Williamsburg School District.  Bill retired after 20 years as the owner and operator of Bill’s Billiards, located in Williamsburg.
Bill was a member of Hollidaysburg Masonic Lodge #220 F&AM, Heidelberg Country Club, Altoona, Bonner-Sollenberger American Legion Post 456, Williamsburg and the former Williamsburg Memorial VFW Post 6086.
He loved Sunday dinners with his family, a good cigarette and a good conversation.  Bill also enjoyed camping, singing and playing his guitar and harmonica.
Friends will be received from 5-8pm, Friday, April 8, 2022 at John K. Edwin N. Gunnett, 91 of Williamsburg, passed away Tuesday morning, March 29, 2022 at Epworth Manor, Tyrone.
He was born in Royer, rural Williamsburg, son of the late Neff Earl and Edith Belle (Vanderpool) Gunnett.  On June 3, 1949 he married Elsie G. Farringer in Winchester, VA.  She preceded him in death on May 23, 2018.
Surviving are a son, Edwin N. Gunnett Jr. (Nancy); a daughter, Rita E. Gorsuch both of Williamsburg; a daughter-in-law, Pamela Gunnett of Oxford, AL; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Ed was preceded in death by a son, William Marshall Gunnett; a son-in-law, Dennis E. Gorsuch; six sisters: Erma Banks, Hazel Smith, Doris Ann Gunnett, Rita Gunnett, Shirley Deter and Lois Dempsie; and five brothers: Harold, Marion, Arch, Hubert and Willard Gunnett.
He was a 1948 graduate of Williamsburg High School.  Ed was a lifelong member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, and was a faithful member at the Clappertown C&MA Church.
Ed worked at Westvaco Pulp & Paper Mill in Williamsburg and Tyrone, Sears Roebuck department store and Montgomery Ward department store both in Altoona.   He also owned and operated Gunnett’s Hardware Store in Williamsburg and later retired as a life insurance agent for Prudential with many years of service.
He served as the president and helped establish the first Little League Baseball Association in Williamsburg.  Ed was also a member of the Williamsburg Lions Club and was instrumental in organizing the talent shows held each year to help raise money for various local charities.
Ed loved watching all sports, especially his beloved Blue Pirates, Tar Heel Basketball, Pitt Football, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates.  He also enjoyed singing, pitching horseshoes and playing softball in the Southern Blair Softball League. Ed was truly at his best, when he was talking and sharing his stories with family and friends.
Friends will be received from 1-3pm, Saturday, April 2, 2022 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg.  A private funeral service will be held at the funeral home, Pastor Ed Jelliff officiating.  Interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.

Edgar Leon Norris, 94, of Williamsburg, passed away Saturday morning, March 26, 2022 at his home.
He was born in rural Williamsburg, son of the late Ross E. “Joe” and Edna Grace (Cunningham) Norris.  Leon was twice married, first to the late Mary Thelma Stevens and then on December 5, 1987 he married Joyce M. Stehley.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Joyce of 34 years; three sons: Randall L. (Nancy) Norris of Altoona, Bradley J. Norris (Jerry Benito) and Todd S. (Corina) Norris both of Williamsburg; six step-children: Deborah Snyder, Patricia Dodson, Sharon Vaughn, Daniel Stehley, Karen Williams and Mark Stehley; 24 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Bryan J. Norris; a step-son, William Stehley; two brothers: Darrell Norris and Robert Norris; and a sister, L. Joan Sherman.
Leon was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII serving from March 1945 until August 1946, attaining the rank of Ship’s Cook Third Class.  He was employed for many years as a heavy equipment operator for the International Union of Operating Engineers. Leon also ran their family farm during those years and later in his life owned and operated E&J Logging service.
He was a longtime member of the Bonner-Sollenberger American Legion Post 456, Williamsburg.  Leon loved racing and was one of the first competitors in the original NASCAR, known in those days as the Sportsman’s Series. He also enjoyed farming, hunting and flying his own plane as a licensed private pilot.
Friends will be received from 5-8pm, Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg, where a military honor service will be held at the funeral home at 8pm.

She was born in Martinsburg, daughter of the late John F. and Annie A. (Russell) Klepser.  On November 13, 1948 she married Walter Patrick “Pat” Fagans in Winchester, VA.  He preceded her in death on March 29, 1994.
Surviving are a sister, E. Jane Steele of Martinsburg; and her nieces and nephews, along with their families that dearly loved her.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: John E. “Jack” Klepser and Ronald R. Klepser; and a sister, M. Joan Klepser.
Louise was a 1946 graduate of Martinsburg High School and was employed for over 40 years at Sylvania in Altoona.
She was lifelong member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Martinsburg.  Louise was also a longtime member and past women’s club champion at Iron Masters Country Club, Roaring Spring.
Louise loved spending time with her family, especially with her great and great-great nieces and nephews.  She also enjoyed reading and golfing with her husband, Pat.
A special thanks goes to the Kindred Hospice team, Beasy’s family greatly appreciated the care she received from her nurses, Michelle and Denise.  Their excellent care allowed Aunt Beasy to pass away peacefully at her home, surrounded by family.
At the request of the deceased a private funeral service will be held at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg, with Pastor Tim Guyer officiating.  Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.

Surviving are two sons: Aaron D. Frank (Angela) and Adam J. Frank (Ashlee) both of Hollidaysburg; a step-son, Mark W. Koenig (Carrie) of Odenton, MD; a step-daughter, Ashley M. Westerburg (Carl Jr.) of Lower Burrell; 10 grandchildren; a brother, John R. Stevens (Josephine) of Lititz; a sister, Barbara L. Grappone (Joseph) of Hollidaysburg; two nieces; a nephew; and many friends.
Debbie was preceded in death by a sister, Patty L. Duffey; and a brother, Scott B. Stevens.
She was a 1975 graduate of Altoona Area High School and received her Bachelor of Science in Sociology from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1979.  Debbie retired in September 2016 as an Early Learning Program Certification Representative from the Department of Human Services.
Debbie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, that enjoyed traveling, gardening and ancestry research. She loved surrounding herself with her children and spending equal time with her 10 grandchildren, they were the most important part of her life.
The family would like to express their thanks for the wonderful help and care given by Grane Hospice.
A celebration of life will be held from 1 until 4pm, Sunday, April 24, 2022 at the Fiore Farm, 2961 Reservoir Rd., Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.  All family and friends are welcome.  Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.

He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late Malcolm F. and Marie L. (Cogan) Drake.  On July 4, 1969 he married Lillian Ruth Chadwick in Hollidaysburg.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 52 years; a daughter, Tina M. Bougher (Herman T. Michael) of Wilmore; a granddaughter, Paige M. Bougher (Michael J. Sauter) of Wilmore; a great-grandson, Erin Paul Sauter; two sisters: Betty Mae Harclerode of Woodbury and Bonnie Irene Clark of Everett; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Jean Harclerode; and four brothers: Donald E., Benjamin L., Ronald D. and Robert F. Drake.
Edward was a 1966 graduate of Central High School, Martinsburg, where he participated in the 4-H program and also attended Penn State University for agriculture.
He was employed as a supervisor/scheduler for Grove Manufacturing, Greencastle for 25 years and also worked as a dairy and pig farmer in rural Martinsburg for many years.
Edward loved spending time with his family and also enjoyed raising rabbits, flower gardening, and vegetable gardening.
Friends will be received from 1-3 pm, Thursday, March 17, 2022 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg, where a funeral service will follow at 3 pm, Pastor Timothy Guyer officiating.  Private interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.

Robert “Max” Longenecker, 80, of Clappertown, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior Sunday evening, March 13, 2022 on he and Gaynelle’s 57th wedding anniversary. He was born at home on Thanksgiving Day in Clappertown, son of the late Lester M. and S. Naomi (Guyer) Longenecker.  On March 13, 1965, he married his school sweetheart, Gaynelle Waite.
Surviving are his loving wife of 57 years, Gaynelle; a son, Mark Longenecker (Lori); a daughter, Amy Kennedy (Keith); six grandchildren: Jerod Stiffler (Lauren Chandler), Justin Stiffler (Angie), Janelle Stiffler (Joseph Bertres), Miles Longenecker (Izis Miranda), Mason Longenecker (Shawna), and Madison Longenecker (Carter Cerully); five great-grandchildren: Payton and Malachi Stiffler, Avery and Reece Longenecker, and Mazeme Bertres; four sisters: Ruth Morgan, Mildred Keagy, LaDonna Biddle, and Emily Grannas; and two brothers: W. Dale and Harry L. Longenecker.
He was preceded in death by a son in 1974, R. Matthew; great granddaughter, Emery Grace Stiffler; two sisters: Martha McIntyre and Dorothy McCall; two brothers: Harold A. and Marlin E. Longenecker; a special brother-in-law, Bill Stultz; a special niece, Corina Frye and a special nephew, Jeff Grannas.
Max was a member of the last graduating class of Morrisons Cove High School in 1960.  He served in the United States Army in 1962, where he was stationed at Fort Knox, Ky. Max went on to work for two years at GE in Philadelphia and in 1966, returned to the Cove to join his father, Lester and brother, Dale at Longeneckers Inc. where he is still  part of the business. In keeping with his working spirit, he joined his son in 1997 to help start M&M Equipment and also worked for many years as a salesman for the Local Seeds Co. of Jersey Shore.
He was a lifetime member of Smithfield Church, where he served on the church board.
Max loved spending time with his family, especially on their many trips to Pigeon Forge, TN., and also enjoyed attending all his grandkids and great-grandkids school and sporting events.
Max took great pride in restoring antique cars, trucks, and Massey-Harris tractors. He was an avid tractor puller competing at many Southern Cove Power Reunion events.
Friends will be received from 5-8pm, Friday, March 18, 2022 at the Smithfield Church, rural Martinsburg and from 10 until the 11am, Saturday, March 19, 2022 where a funeral service will begin at 11 am at the church, Pastor James Snyder officiating.  Private interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.

Grace E. Phillips, 88, a resident of Homewood at Martinsburg, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday morning, March 8, 2022 at Homewood.
She was born in Martinsburg, daughter of the late John S. and Fannie S. (Zimmerman) Metzker.  On July 20, 1956 she married Frederick E. Phillips in Winchester, VA.  He preceded her in death on April 19, 2019 following 63 years of marriage.
Surviving are five grandchildren: Holly J. Bem, Mindy Ochoa (Neil), Adrienne E. Williams, Amber E. Phillips and Dustin F. Phillips; 17 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Gabi M. Williams; and a sister, Ola L. Russell (Lloyd).
Grace was preceded in death by two sons: Larry W. Phillips and Allen E. Phillips; a grandson, Christopher C. Phillips; two brothers: J. Robert Metzker and Harold J. “Jake” Metzker; and two sisters: infant Anna Louise Phillips and Mary C. Russell.
She was a 1951 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School, Martinsburg.  Grace was a longtime, faithful member of Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church, where she volunteered countless hours.
Grace was primarily a homemaker, who previously worked at Bowman’s Department Store in Martinsburg.  She loved spending time with her family and also enjoyed reading and flower gardening.
Friends will be received from 11am until 1pm, Friday, March 11, 2022 at Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church, where a funeral service will follow at 1pm, Pastor Brian McCall and Mr. Daniel Horton officiating.  Interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.  Arrangements are by John K. He was born in Altoona, son of the late George W.J. and Ruth Elizabeth (Bird) Bookhammer.
Surviving are a daughter, Virginia “Jenny” Bookhammer of Altoona; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Stubbs of Williamsburg; three grandsons: Draven, Damian, and Damon Stubbs; two brothers: James “Andy” and Terry Bookhammer both of Williamsburg; two sisters: Patty Wilson of Bedford and Georgette Strub of Oklahoma.  He is also survived by his former wife and friend Naomi Bookhammer and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Donald Eugene Stubbs.
Jerry was a graduate of Williamsburg High School. He served in the United States Navy as a Fireman on the USS Charles R. Ware DD-865 during the Cuban Missel Crisis and the Vietnam War.  Jerry was extremely proud of his navy military service and collected all types of navy memorabilia. He was a member of Bonner-Sollenberger American Legion Post 456, Williamsburg.
He retired as a Waxer from the Fonda Group Inc, Williamsburg with 37 years of service and previously worked at the Martinsburg Shoe Factory. Jerry loved fixing cars and was a skilled mechanic, he enjoyed reading repair manuals and books about automobiles. A public graveside service will be held at 11 am Tuesday, March 8, 2022 with military honors at Salem Reformed Church Cemetery, rural Martinsburg. Pastor Joseph Weber officiating. Helen R. Loose, 100, of Williamsburg, went to her eternal home on Wednesday morning, March 2, 2022 at Homewood at Martinsburg surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Williamsburg, daughter of the late Jesse M. and Lillie A. (Parks) Irvin.  On December 14, 1942 she married James Kedric Loose Sr. in Winchester, VA.  He preceded her in death on April 10, 2001 after 58 years of marriage.
Surviving are three sons: James K. Loose Jr. (Connie), L. Wayne Loose (Paulette) and Vaughn A. Loose (Miriam) all of Hollidaysburg; two daughters: Deborah J. Burket (Daniel) and Carolyn D. Brumbaugh (Dennis) both of Williamsburg; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald C. Irvin of Williamsburg; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Melvin L. Loose; three brothers: Melvin Irvin, Nelson L. Irvin and Jesse W. “Pud” Irvin; and three sisters: Beatrice A. Shock, Bernice A. Mock and Lucille G. Detwiler.
Helen attended two, one room school houses and was a 1942 graduate of Williamsburg High School.  While her husband, Jim was serving our country in WWII, she did her part as a “Rosie the Riveter”, working at the Huntingdon Fiberglass Plant, as a loomer.  Helen also baked and decorated many beautiful wedding and birthday cakes for her family and many other occasions.
She was a longtime member of Fairview Church of the Brethren, rural Williamsburg, where she taught Sunday school and was active in the women’s fellowship.  Helen was also a member and past worthy matron for the former Williamsburg Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.
Helen was a woman of strong faith, with a wonderful sense of humor, who loved her family with all her heart.  She also enjoyed flower gardening and baking the most delicious pies.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of Kenneth T. and Elizabeth A. “Beth” (Landis) Brenneman.  On October 25, 2014 she married Bryan J. Schur at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Williamsburg.
Surviving are her husband of 7 years; her parents of Williamsburg; two brothers: Heath T. (Kara) Brenneman and Luke G. Brenneman (Stefanie Kauruter) both of Williamsburg; three nieces: Kaylee Brenneman, Elsie Brenneman, Claire Brenneman; and a nephew, Zayden Beatty.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Ryan W. Brenneman.
Heather was a 2001 graduate of Williamsburg High School, where she performed with the silks in the Blue Pirate Marching Band.  She later completed a two year program at the Western School of Pittsburgh in Radiologic Technology.
She worked for a few years at Kenny Rhodes’ Store in Williamsburg and later sold Thirty-One brand hand bags. Heather was also employed as an X-Ray Technician at the Uniontown Hospital for 17 years.
Heather was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Williamsburg and more recently attended the Cove Forge United Methodist Church in Williamsburg with her family.
She loved spending time with her family, reading, scrapbooking and helping make wreaths at J.B. Tree Farm.   Heather also enjoyed crocheting, doing genealogy and riding horses, she won second place in Harrisburg for 4H on her horse, Sweets.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8pm, Friday, March 4, 2022 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg, where a private funeral service will be held, Pastor Matthew Roberts officiating.  Inurnment will be held at Keller Reformed Church Cemetery in rural Williamsburg.

Nuss, Sr.  In addition to her husband Paul, she is survived by her two sons father, Robert Sloaf of Punxsutawney; two sons:  Jason C. Sloaf of Livingston, MT and Andrew Sloaf of Olympia, WA, and six grandchildren, Emily Sloaf, Molly Sloaf, Madeleine Sloaf,  in Pittsburgh, and Torin Sloaf, Daisy Sloaf, and Lila Jeanne Sloaf in Olympia, as well as brothers William H. Garson Jr. of Olympia, WA and Thomas Garson of Ashland, OR., and husband Paul’s children and grandchildren.  Margaret graduated from South Williamsport High School in 1965, and Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1969. She retired from Homewood in Martinsburg as Director of Marketing for Independent Living.  Her father, mother, and sister Jeanne Garson pre-deceased her.
Margaret was a gourmet cook, and loved her flower gardens at her home.  She loved traveling with her husband Paul in their own airplane, on their motorcycle, with the RV trailer, and in their street rod.  Margaret lived in Punxsutawney for many years, and kept close contact with many friends there, including her friends from their Card Club.   She also had befriended many residents at Homewood, and kept many close friendships there.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Friday, March 11, 2022 at the Bice Memorial Chapel at Homewood, Martinsburg, Rev. Jerry McCuller Jr.  officiating.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia L. Wareham.
Anne was a graduate of Blacklick Twp. High School and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Roaring Spring.  She worked as a beautician for 40 years at Prave Beauty Shop in Ebensburg.
Anne was a longtime member of the Ebensburg Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, where she served as Worthy Matron.  She loved her pet yorkies and traveling with her husband, Tom.

(Charlotte) Detwiler of Punxsutawney; a son-in-law, Richard Cessna of Girty; a daughter-in-law, Jodie Detwiler of Cranberry Twp.; nine grandchildren: Janice Cessna (Larry Finkel), Erik Detwiler, Garrett Detwiler, Matthew Detwiler (LaKiesha), Christy Welton (Seth), Erin Brant (Jason), Brianna Seyler (Aaron), Tiffany Anthony and Ryan Detwiler; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathie Cessna; a son, Bruce Detwiler; seven brothers; and four sisters.
Ruth was a 1945 graduate of Williamsburg High School.  She loved traveling and visiting family and friends with her husband, Dale. However, Ruth was always relieved to get back home to her favorite destination, where she was at her best, taking care of her family and being a homemaker.

Judy was a 1960 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School, Martinsburg and a member of Mt. Pleasant United Church of Christ, rural Martinsburg.
She was primarily a homemaker, who loved spending time with her family.  Judy also enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, camping, shopping and attending auctions.

Irvin (Karen) of Raleigh, NC and Phillip D. Irvin (Robin) of Roaring Spring; six grandchildren: Wade Smith (Jill), Nichole Dalton (Mark), Cassandra Rex (Chris), Elizabeth Irvin, Joshua Irvin and Lillie Irvin; four great-grandchildren: Emily, Ethan, Leah and Addie; a brother, Nevin Sollenberger (Janet) of Claysburg; a sister-in-law, Helen Loose of Martinsburg; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her canine companion, Lacy.
Donna was a 1956 graduate of Williamsburg High School.  She was a longtime faithful member of Williamsburg United Methodist Church, where she formerly taught Sunday school.  Donna also served as past Worthy Matron for the former Williamsburg Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.
She was a loving homemaker, who also worked for nine years at Te-Eara Shoes in Roaring Spring and as a door to door “Avon Lady” for many years.
Donna loved spending time with her family, square dancing, round dancing and taking bus tours with her husband, Don.  She also enjoyed bowling, cooking and completing adult coloring books.

Clair Eugene “Gene” Smith, 85, Martinsburg, went into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, February 16, 2022.
Gene was the son of the late George C. and Hazel (Gunnett) Smith.  On September 10, 1955, he married Mary Jane (Riley) Smith and together they shared 49 years of marriage until her death in July 2005. Gene is survived by his second wife, Anna (Fagans) Smith, with whom he shared 14 years of marriage.
Also surviving are a son, Gerald Smith (Linda) of Martinsburg; a daughter, Nancy Byler (Conrad) of Martinsburg; two granddaughters: Valerie Detwiler (CA) and Megan Frederick (Mark); a grandson, Joseph Byler (Tana); seven great-grandchildren: Mason and Juleah Byler, Carly and Gabe Detwiler, and Trent, Jack, and Brooke Frederick; and three siblings: George and Wayne Smith both of Martinsburg, and Audrey Helsel of Ebensburg. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Smith
Gene was a graduate of Morrisons Cove High School, and a faithful member of Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church, where he worshipped for his entire life.
He was a life-long dairy farmer in Martinsburg.  After his health prohibited him from working on the farm, Gene would go on long car rides throughout the Cove to enjoy watching the progress of the farmers’ hard work in their fields, especially those of his son, Gerald.  He also enjoyed spending winters in Florida and watching sports on television, especially Pirate baseball.
A private service will be held at Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church, Pastor Brian L. McCall officiating.  Interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
Memorial contributions in memory of Gene may be given to Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church - (Camp Mantowagan), 300 S. Mulberry St., Martinsburg, PA 16662.
