Linda's zest for life was contagious, whether she was rocking out to Ozzy Osbourne and Alice Cooper, bedazzling everything in sight, or enjoying the warm Florida sun with her beloved Yorkie, Ava, by her side. Linda's love for bad horror movies and swimming brought joy to those around her, making her a cherished friend and family member. She leaves behind a legacy of laughter, creativity, and unwavering love for the things that brought her happiness. Linda will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Obituary Preview: Austin R. Gagnon, 95, son of Blanche Belanger and Austin V. Gagnon, both deceased of Cohoes, died on Tuesday peacefully at home on April 23, 2024 in Queensbury.
Beloved husband of the late Mary Grace Lucas Gagnon, who he married at St. Augustine’s Church, Lansingburgh in September 1949, Father of Linda Plante of Glens Falls, NY, Dale Gagnon of Cohoes, Donald (MaryLynn) Gagnon of Melrose, Barbara (Steven) Black of Cohoes and Donna Gagnon of Queensbury, brother of Earl (Roberta) Gagnon of Latham, J. Paul (Marcia) Gagnon of Speigletown and Anita Litster, deceased of Latham, also survived by his beloved 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He graduated from Sacred Heart School in Cohoes and LaSalle Institute in Troy, Class of 1946.
He retired in 1990 after 40 years in the cigar industry. As a salesman he represented Scranton Tobacco Co, Boyak Cigar Co. and General Cigar Co., retiring as a Territory Sales Supervisor. Mr. Gagnon and his wife had homes in Cohoes, Lake George and Port Orange, FL.
Mr. Gagnon served for 30 years as a Democrat Committeeman and 5th Ward Leader in Cohoes, was an active member of the Cohoes and Port Orange, FL B.PO. Elks, was a charter member of and Co-Founder of Boy Scout Troop 70, Cohoes for 35 years serving as Assistant Scoutmaster and Advisor, a Lifetime Member of the Boght Fire Co., served as a Paramedic, Lieutenant of Rescue 1, Lt. of Engine 401 and Treasurer of Boght Ambulance Co, was former Chairman of the City of Cohoes Traffic Commission, was a former communicant of St. Bernard’s Church, St. Agnes-St. Patrick’s Church, all in Cohoes and was a communicant of St. Augustine’s Church in Lansingburgh. He was an active social member and card player of Queensbury and Hudson Falls Senior Centers. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, boater, golfer and carpenter and loved camping with his children and cooking clam steams for his family gatherings. He loved his Canadian heritage, telling stories and singing. He left this earth telling his family, “I lived a good life and have no regrets.”
A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Augustine's Church in Lansingburgh followed by interment held in St. Agnes Cemetery, Cohoes.
The scripture readings will be offered by MaryLynn Gagnon, Daughter-in- law and Linda Plante, Daughter. The Offertory Gifts will be presented at the Altar by Jennifer Shaver, Granddaughter, Jill Myers, Granddaughter and Mason Myers, Great Grandson. A tributary song, "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" will be sung by Sophia Plante, Great Granddaughter. The Pallbearers are Jim Plante, Grandson, Matthew Coleman, Grandson, Austin M. Gagnon, Grandson, Kristopher Coleman, Grandson, Cameron Shaver, Great Grandson and Aaron Gagnon, Nephew.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Monday, April 29, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home Inc., 565 Fourth Ave. (corner of 115th Street in Lansingburgh) Troy, NY 12182. At 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Fr. Bill Donnelly, O.S.A. will offer a private blessing. There will be an Honored Fireman’s ceremony presented by the Boght Community Fire Department at 6:30 p.m. The family invites friends and family to share spoken words or stories at the wake.

Martha M. Bain - April 28, 1926 - April 21, 2024

Obituary Preview: Martha M. Eaton Bain, a few days shy of her 98th birthday, formerly of Brookwood Dr. in Latham, NY, beloved wife of the late Joseph C. Bain, peacefully entered into eternal life at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, April 21, 2024.
Born in Troy, NY, she was the daughter of the late Enoch and Mary ("May") Gillick Eaton, and was educated at Troy High School and Albany Business College.
After many years as a homemaker and having raised five children, Mrs. Bain reentered the workforce as a retail associate at Sears (Colonie Center) in the children's department. Martha was recognized immediately by her supervisors as having additional skills and was offered an opportunity to work in the Sears Contract Sales division in Colonie, where she was a Project Estimator.
Martha, the second oldest of twelve Eaton children, became the matriarch of her own family of five. She loved her family above all else, and enjoyed times spent at the family camp on Sacandaga Lake. Martha was a voracious reader who also enjoyed travel, concerts, the theater, trips to casinos, and her beloved Yankees. After selling her home in Latham, she enjoyed eight years at the Beverwyck Community where she made new friendships. For the past four years, Martha lived with daughter Kathy, son-in-law Robert Busch, and faithful Bichon companion Mitzi, who all lovingly cared for her.
Martha was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham, later attending mass on the Beverwyck campus, and lastly watching mass on television every Sunday. She was a woman of strong faith even after the untimely deaths of her son, Joseph Jr. and her husband. She won an early battle with breast cancer, survived numerous surgeries, blindness, the loss of all of her 11 brothers and sisters, and faced it all with quiet bravery, pragmatism, and a dry sense of humor.
Devoted mother of Robert J. (Deborah) Bain, William M. (Carmen) Bain, Kathleen (Dr. Robert) Busch, Assemblywoman Mary Beth (Honorable James) Walsh and the late Joseph C. Bain, Jr.; cherished grandmother of Robert J. (Elyse) Bain, Jr., Christopher E. (Jenna) Bain, Natalie M. (Ryan) Hooper, Lindsey L. Bain, Allison S. (Thomas) Andreano, Heather (Lee) Toffolo, Kayleigh Brennan, Terry Hynes, Riley Hynes, Michael Walsh, Quinton Walsh, Samuel Walsh, and Madeline Walsh; adored great-grandmother of Everett, Adelaide, Taylor, Peyton, Benson, Charlotte, Elliot, Nora, Evelyn, and Gianna; sister of the late Marion (late, George) Farley, the late William (Mary “Jane”) Eaton, the late Stewart (late, Helen) Eaton, the late Christine (late, Peter) Molinari, the late Eugene (Kathleen) Eaton, the late Marilyn (late, James) McGlynn, the late John Sherman Eaton, the late Gail (late, Paul) Teta, the late Joyce Eaton, the late Diane Trembly and the late Donald Eaton; and also survived by many nieces, nephews and their families.
Relatives and friends are invited to Martha’s visitation on Friday, April 26, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:55 a.m. followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Rd., Latham, NY 12110.
Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, 150 Troy Road, Watervliet, NY.
Martha’s family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all of her caregivers, especially Nicole Monk and Alicia El Yonisi, as well as Joan Bishop, who kept Martha styled and looking beautiful for many years.

David Thomas Murphy - June 20, 1957 - April 20, 2024

Obituary Preview: David Thomas Murphy died on Saturday, April 20th at Collar City Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Troy after a brief illness at the age of 66.
David was born in Troy and graduated from Troy High School, the son of the late Henrietta Keoughan and Willard Murphy.
He is survived by many friends.
David, a long-time parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul Church, had a loving heart for the world. He had an amazing memory. He regularly sent birthday, Christmas and holiday cards to friends and acquaintances. He lived a modest life. His generosity was reflected in the gifts that he gave to others. His festive Christmas and birthday parties brought together people from various walks of life. Overcoming physical challenges, he made every effort to attend Mass regularly. He had a memorable impact on people that he met and will be deeply missed.
His funeral Mass will be held at St Vincent de Paul Church, 900 Madison Avenue, Albany, New York on Monday, April 29th at 10AM.
Calling hours will be one hour before the Mass.

Obituary Preview: Patricia Tanner, 75, born in Troy NY and lived most of her early years in Center Brunswick NY, entered into eternal life on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at The Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center in Troy.
She was the daughter of the late William Frederick “Fred” and Mary Therriault Tanner. She was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School and Cobleskill Community College where she studied Food Service Management. After graduating she moved to Massachusetts to start her career.
She was the Director of Integrated Support Services at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury CT and moved to Windsor CT, to work for Sodexho continuing the same title.
Pat enjoyed golfing, taking afternoon walks and spending time with her family. Although Pat did not have children of her own she helped raise and loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own. Pat loved to attend sporting events and activities involving her nieces and nephews. She was an avid fan of the UCONN women's Basketball team and Women's Ice Skating.
Devoted sister of the late Annellen (late John) Schultz, Mary Lou (Richard) Durant, Adele (Gary) Roth, William F. Tanner, Jr., Barbara Hebert (late Richard), Susan (Mario) Manzi. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and their families.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Rite of Committal on Thursday May 2, 2024 at 11:00 am at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, 2501 Troy-Schenectady Rd., Niskayuna, NY 12309.

Born in Troy, she was raised in Mechanicville and was the daughter of the late Charles and Cheryl I. Jackson Nelson. She was a graduate of Mechanicville High School and attended Hudson Valley Community College.
Mrs. Rokjer was the Owner/Operator of Corporate Management Co., of the Capitol District, from where she retired just a couple of years ago.
Karin was very proud to have been the recipient of the Small Business Owner of the Year Award, loved to travel, especially to Florida (Cocoa Beach) and her kitty. She was a member of the Rensselaer County Women’s Republican Club and a communicant of St. Augustine’s Church in Lansingburgh.
Karin was the beloved wife of Robert J. Rokjer, who passed away on February 22, 2012.
She is the beloved mother of Deborah (Michael) Uhouse of Berkley Heights, NJ, Scott (Monica) Rokjer, Chad (Lisa) Rokjer, both of Grafton and Robert (Heather) Rokjer of Brunswick, cherished “Grandma” of Michael and Alaina Uhouse, Ashley (Shaine) Bonin, Scott (Courtney), Matthew and Samantha Rokjer, Chad Rokjer, Jr. and Jacob Rokjer and Robert J. Mr. Wagar served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Sharpshooter (Rifle) Medal as well as his Honorable Discharge.
He loved his motorcycle and riding, as well as to work outdoors and in the woods on their own land, formerly a working farm.
Mr. Wagar retired from the Mohawk Paper Mill in Waterford.

Obituary Preview: John R. Valente, Jr., 73, Paradise Valley, AZ and formerly of Troy, NY, passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 23, 2024. His loss is completely unexpected and his family and friends are profoundly saddened.
Born in Troy, NY, he was the son of the late John R. and Lillian Solari Valente, Sr. and was a graduate of Catholic Central High School, Class of 1968.
John was a retired Senior Vice President of IT for Wells Fargo Financial in Phoenix, AZ and had previously spent a long career as an Executive with Visa and CitiBank.
He was a U.S. and Italian Citizen, an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, a collector of fine wines, and a lover of old western movies.
He was a lifelong member of the Troy Masonic Lodge and he had been a communicant of St. Augustine’s Church in Lansingburgh.
To merely say John was fun-loving and adventurous would be an understatement. He would try anything once and would often spend months at a time in Italy. He traveled around the world to locations like Egypt, Vietnam, Africa, Peru, Bali, India, Hong Kong, and Panama. He chased the sun as often as he could, living in Arizona in the winter and Saratoga Lake in the summer, where he would regularly be found on a boat with friends. John’s smile, his laugh, his fun spirt & generosity are attributes everyone who knew him will always remember and cherish.
John was the devoted father of Rachel E. (David) Stephens of Wellesley, MA and Jason M. Valente of Ballston Spa, NY, cherished grandfather of Jackson D., Jason T. and Lillian E. Stephens, dear brother of the late Alan Valente, also survived by two loving nephews; Jay Valente and Michael Valente, plus countless friends he considered family.

John passed to the arms of the Lord today, Saturday, March 16, 2024.
John was born in Ogdensburg, NY on December 7, 1946 to Edmund Joseph & Mary Blake Elie. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and attended the NYS Maritime College in NYC studying Marine Engineering. He went on to Canton College where he obtained an Associate Degree in Construction Technology. While at Canton he met the love of his life, Judith “Judy” Wink. As a matter of fact he asked her to marry him on their first date! It took some time, and Judy finally said yes! They were married June 19, 1971, with the approval of William H. and Charlotte S. Wink. As a highlight to their lives together they had two wonderful sons: Peter William (wife, Renee) and Steven Edmund Elie.
John worked for several Consulting Engineering firms in the Capital Area and was recognized as a highly proficient Petrochemical/Pharmaceutical piping systems designer. He served his country from 1969 to 1981 as an enlisted man and later as an Officer in the NY Army National Guard and the United States Army Reserve. He was recognized with several prestigious medals for his service.
John leaves behind his wife, Judy of 52 years, his sons, Peter & Steven, sister-in-law Kathleen Coppola, his nieces: Alessandra (Anthony) Petruccelli, GRAND niece Alexa and nephew Anthony, Cynthia Coppola, his nephew and godson, Francesco (Kelly) Coppola and “GRAND” nieces and nephews: Kala, Nicholas, Cole and Juliet Coppola. First cousins: Kathy, John, Mary, Geraldine, Tim and their families. His final thoughts were “Move forward and do not weep for me for I am at peace.”

Mrs. Laeyt retired in 1984 from the NYS Dept. of Taxation & Finance in Albany.
Mrs. Laeyt was active with the Troy Boys Club, Cub Scouts, Girls Scouts and the Speiglaires Junior Drum & Bugle Corps. She had been a member of the Highway Tabernacle Assembly of God Church.
Survivors included two children; James L. “Jimmy” (Margaret “Peggy”) Laeyt and Lori (late Robert “Bob”) Hill, siblings; Francis (Lynn and the late Colleen) Renaud, Faye (late, Warren) McFarren and Joan (Marvin) McIntyre, 5 grandchildren; Wendy Laeyt, Paul Laeyt (Holly Bishop), Todd Laeyt, Jeffrey (Jamie) Hill and Jennifer “Jenny” (Anthony) Hunter, 8 great grandchildren; Gabriel, Camren, Kyle, Lennon, Imajin, Liyana, Kai and Tyler, also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings Elwyn (late, Rosemary) Renaud and Elinor (late George) Brown.

Obituary Preview: Patricia J. “Pat” Prescott, 85, of Lansingburgh, beloved wife of the late Leo Prescott, peacefully entered into eternal life at her residence on Monday, March 11, 2024.
Born in Troy, NY, she was the daughter of the late James A. Day and the late Theresa J. Gorman Day Morey and stepdaughter of the late Thomas G. Morey. She attended St. Patrick’s School in Troy through eleventh grade and graduated from Lansingburgh Public High School.
Pat’s first marriage to Forrest C. Davies of Centenary, S.C. produced six beloved children and ended in divorce, followed by her marriage to Leo Prescott.
Pat was first and foremost a devoted wife, skilled home keeper and loving mother. She also was employed at Woolworth & Co. in Hadley, MA as head of security, at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst dining services, and other well known retailers.
Pat loved being with her family above everything else. She was a lifelong devout Catholic and a woman of great faith. She was an active member of the Rensselaer County Senior Citizens Center in Troy and enjoyed the activities and trips which were offered through the Center. She particularly enjoyed creating a warm and inviting home, celebrating her birthday parties and traveling.
Devoted mother of Cynthia Davies Cunha, Brian Davies (Elizabeth Williams), Sharon Davies, Sheila Davies, Stephen Prescott (Nancy Stoliker), the late Jeffrey Davies (Priscilla) and the late Douglas Davies, beloved sister of the late Marilyn Prescott, survived by uncle Robert Gorman, aunt Kathleen “Kay” Gorman Quillinan, 17 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She had a specially close bond to beloved niece Sarah Angello Jungenburg.

Obituary Preview: Alice J. Collopy Ellett, 95, of Waterford, beloved wife for 62 years of the late Charles J. “Bud” Ellett, entered peacefully into eternal life surrounded by her family on Thursday, March 7, 2024.
Alice was the first-born of two sets of twins born to Harry and Elizabeth Hope Collopy in Lansingburgh, where she grew up surrounded by a close community of aunts, uncles and cousins. She was a graduate of St. Augustine’s School and Lansingburgh High School. She and her husband Bud were married at St. Augustine’s Church in 1950. They raised their six children in Lansingburgh above their business, Charles J. Ellett & Son Insurance and Real Estate. Little did she know the adventures that lay ahead of her with Bud, including trips to Hawai’i, Europe, South America, and many cruises on their family yacht, the Nancy Lynn. Over the years, they cruised up and down the Hudson River from the Montreal Expo, to Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket Island, with all six children aboard.
Alice was a devoted wife and homemaker, and always active in her community. She shared her kindness and good humor as a volunteer and Board member in many organizations, including Lansingburgh Boys and Girls Club, Lansingburgh School PTA, and Lansingburgh Historical Society. She was a founder of the Lansingburgh First and Second Avenue Association. She served for many years as a Board member and registrar for Wiawaka on Lake George. She was honored by Lasalle Institute as a 40 year volunteer in their Library. Her greatest devotion was to St. Augustine’s Church where she was a member of the Sacred Heart Sodality, the Altar Society and served as a Lay minister.
Alice was the loving mother of Nancy (Kenneth N.) Crosby of Greenwich, Charles Jay “Chuck” (Norine Goodell) Ellett of Waterford, William Patrick “Bill” (Katherine Hild) of Mohrsville, PA, Thomas “Tom” (Gladys Vallespir) Ellett, PhD of Lake George, the late James T. Ellett and the late Linda Ellett, who is survived by her husband Donald Shore of Rock City Falls; sister of her late twin brother William (late, Patricia) Collopy and the late twins Beth (late, Jack) Collopy Evans and Thomas (late, Barbara) Collopy; Alice was also survived by eleven grandchildren: Elizabeth (Mike); Erika (John); Allison (Landon); Emily (Chris); Tessa (Anton); Harrison; Christian; Alexander; Alicia (Matt); Janet; Maggie (Brian); twelve great grandchildren (Cooper, Nicholas, Lillian, Damian, Ellie, Penelope, Brian, Finnley, Charlie, Wyatt, Meredith, Bryce), and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday morning, March 15, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Augustine’s Church in Lansingburgh.

Walter T. Patrick, Jr. - January 23, 1939 - March 01, 2024

Obituary Preview: It is with deep sadness that the family of Walter (Wally) T. Patrick, Jr. announces his peaceful passing on Friday, March 1, 2024 at the age of 85. Wally was surrounded by love and his family at the time of his passing. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend. He had a great sense of humor and a joyful laugh which we will miss dearly.
Wally was born on January 23, 1939, in Troy, the son of the late Walter T. Patrick, Sr. and Anna Mae Patrick (Burniche). Wally was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School, Class of 1957. On July 23, 1960, he was united in marriage to Judith (Judy) Brown, and they shared a wonderful life with their three children, filled with love for over 63 years. He was employed for over 30 years with Ford Motor Company, first in Green Island, NY and later Plymouth, MI. In Plymouth, Wally also served as a representative for the United Auto Workers (UAW) union, and proudly participated in a union delegation to Osaka, Japan in 1978.
Throughout his adult life, Wally was a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus, serving the community, the Church, and his country. His service culminated in his holding the title of Sir Knight as a member of the patriotic Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus.
Wally was an avid fan of all sports and had a special love for baseball and football, especially the New York Yankees and New York Giants. In his earlier years, Wally dedicated himself to playing in softball leagues and coaching youth baseball. Music was a huge part of Wally’s life. He was a big fan of the classic music of the 50’s, especially Frank Sinatra (his favorite) and he was also known as a great dancer. Wally loved to fish and camp in the Adirondacks with his family and he had a lifelong love of all things automobiles. He adored dogs and they brought him much happiness throughout his life.
But most of all, Wally’s biggest love was for his family and close friends. Nothing in the world meant more to him than being surrounded by those he loved.
Wally will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Judy Patrick of Charlotte, NC; and his children, Walter T. Patrick, III (Joanne) of Naples FL, Debra Bowman (William) of Plymouth MI, and Robin Essenmacher (Ronald) of Charlotte NC. He also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, Devin Burke (Megan), Fallon Burke, Mary Patrick, Ryan Essenmacher, Maggie Essenmacher and Jack Essenmacher. Wally will also be missed by his siblings, Mary Ann Teta and Christina Ford. He was predeceased by his sister, Kathleen Seabury, and his brother and best friend Robert Patrick Sr. Wally has many nieces and nephews and beloved friends, all of whom will miss his smile and kind heart.
A wake will be held on Friday, March 8th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc. (Corner of 115th Street & 4th Avenue) 565 Fourth Ave, Troy, NY 12182. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 9th at 9:30 AM at St. Augustine's Church, 25 115th St, Troy, NY.

Lori was a dedicated employee for 30 years at Goodwill in Brunswick where she retired from.
Lori loved cooking, yard sales, haggling prices, drinks, camping, animals and St. Patrick’s Day.
Wife of Timothy M. “Tim” Tufts, devoted mother of Justin Tufts and Tomah (Fiancé Rory MacAllister) Tufts, loving sister of Patricia “Patty” McManus, the late Wesley G. McManus and the late Bruce McManus, also survived by her sister-inl-law Carol McManus and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for family and friends to gather, share stories and offer their support to the family at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (at the corner of 115th Street in Lansingburgh) Troy, NY 12182 where at 1:00 p.m. a Funeral Service will be offered.
The family would like to offer their most sincere appreciation to Evergreen Commons Rehabilitation Center, Albany Medical Center and Samaritan Hospital for their wonderful care which they provided to Lori and her family.
Those desiring, may make memorial contributions to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Avenue, Menands, NY 12204, in memory of Lori A. (McManus) Tufts.

Born in Troy, New York, he was the son of Susan Kennedy Terry and the late Stephen Smith and was a graduate of Troy High School, Class of 1988.
Stephen was a Cashier at Rite Aid in Schenectady and was previously employed at the Schenectady County Department of Social Services for 7 years.
He enjoyed cooking and gardening, loved his family, decorating, listening to music and the holidays, especially Christmas. He was also a proud dog parent.
Devoted son of Susan Kennedy Terry; beloved brother of Susan Terry Andujar, Tara Terry, Shenyell Smith, Dominique Smith (Domi), Dion Demetchres Gardner-Crichlow, Sabrina Smith and Kimberly Jackson, also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by Earl Miller who was his life-partner for 25 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to Visitation on Friday, March 8, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. both at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., (at the corner of 115th Street in Lansingburgh) Troy, NY 12182.
