Obituary Preview: Matthew Edward Kenline, of Sayre, PA, went to rest peacefully with the Lord at 1:10 A.M. on Friday, June 12, 2020, after fighting a nearly three-decade battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

Matthew was born on October 25, 1960 in Tonawanda, NY, to loving parents Frank Elmo Kenline and Betty Ann (Oehler) Kenline.

He attended the Amherst Central school system growing up, and graduated from Paul Smith's College with a Bachelor's degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. He went on to pursue a very successful career in retail management and began an eighteen-year marriage to Teena (Paul) Kenline, (Spooner.) They had three children, Tabitha L. Kenline, Ashley M. (Kenline) Beams, her husband Sean D. Beams, and Matthew E. Kenline II and his fiance, Barbara L. Monell.

Matthew was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Tabitha, grandson, Thomas.

He is survived by his daughter and son, three siblings: Brother, Phillip Kenline, his Wife, Emily (Cheron ) Kenline, their three children: Eric and Staci (Holmes) Kenline Kim Kenline and Marcus Kenline, Sister, Wendy (Kenline) Merk, her Husband, Jay Merk, their three children: Jason and Madeline Merk, Craig Merk and Christopher and Leigh Merk, Brother Marc Kenline, his Wife, Nadine (Gaul) Kenline and their children, Erinn Kenline and Joshua Kenline. He too, is survived by, six grandchildren: Ellyssa Clinton, Isabella Beams, Layla Kenline, Brooklyn Kenline, Matthew E. Kenline III, and Sean Thomas-Duane Beams, along with three great-nieces and nephews.

A small, grave side ceremony will be held in Matthew's honor at 12:00 pm, on Tuesday June 16, 2020, at Acacia Park Cemetary, 4215 Tonawanda Creek Road, North Tonawanda, NY 14120 with Pastor Matthew Stengel, officiating.

Matthew was passionate about his, family, friends, the Buffalo Bills and always looked forward to charter fishing with his Dad, brothers and sisters. All are welcome as we send Matthew away to God, always remembering how his sense of humor brightened our lives through adventure, love, and laughter. You will be greatly missed and forever remembered.

A larger celebration of life will be held at a later date. On behalf of all our family, we would like to send a special "Thank You" to Athens Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Athens, PA, for their care and commitment to Matthew during his final stages of life.

Obituary Preview: Betty May Bailey, 98, of Johnson City, NY, formerly of Sayre, PA, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at the Elizabeth Church Manor in Binghamton, NY. She was born on July 10,1921 in Sayre, PA.

Betty was a graduate of Sayre High School, class of 1939, and The Ned Rayburn School of Dance in New York City. She was a popular entertainer in the local area, starting at age 7. She worked for many years as a cashier at the Sayre Super Duper Market. Her last place of employment was the Ingersoll Rand in Athens, PA. She was an avid golfer, and also enjoyed her card club and monthly outings with her birthday group in the Valley. She was a lifelong member of the Church of the Redeemer in Sayre.

She is predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Edward W. Bailey, and brothers-in-law, Ellsworth (Betty) Bailey of Vestal, NY, and Robert (Ann) Bailey of Athens, PA.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Patricia (Brinson) Bailey of Laguna Woods, CA, son, Richard Bailey of Sierra Vista, AZ, grandson, Richard Bailey, Jr. of Tucson, AZ, and step-grandson, Matthew Brinson, his wife Angela, and their daughters Eleanor and Penelope of Irvine, CA, as well as many cousins, nephews, and nieces.

While living in Johnson City, Betty was blessed with a guardian angel, her niece Louise (Bailey) Riner of Vestal, NY. No words can express our gratitude for the unselfish and generous help and companionship she provided. The family also wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the staff of the United Methodist Home, Hilltop Campus in Johnson City for their compassionate care during her residency there; and also the staff of the Elizabeth Church Manor, who provided her palliative care in her final days.

Sallie was a long-time member of the Church of the Epiphany and a member of the Red Hatters Club.

She is predeceased by her husband George McQuay, Jr.

He was born on October 26, 1942 in Sayre, PA, the son of the late Elliott and Doris (Pond) Timm.

Bill was a lifelong member of the Athens Township Volunteer Fire Company and the Athens Borough Fire Department, serving with the Fire Police with the companies for many years. He also was a dedicated Volunteer with the Bingo Committee and the company's fund raisers at Athens Township Volunteer Fire Company, until his health prevented him from continuing. Bill was a Lifetime Member of the Bradford County Fire Police Association. He was employed with the Ingersoll-Rand, Athens, prior to retiring. He continued working after retirement as a Crossing Guard for the Athens Area School District, which he loved. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. When it was blueberry season, he enjoyed going to the Walter Blueberry Farm to pick blueberries and often delivered them to family and friends.

He is predeceased by his wife; Mary Timm, son; William Earl Timm, 2 grandchildren, and brother; Elliott Timm, Jr.

Bill is survived by his wife; Patricia "Pat" A. (Parrish) Timm at home, children; Tina and Dale Wade of Gillett, PA, Trudy and Michael "Mike" Stone of Hernando, FL, Linda Timm of Athens Twp., PA, and Joe and Nikki Timm of Sayre, PA, daughter-in-law; Brandee and Timothy Gillie of Athens Twp., PA, 15 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. She was born on January 20, 1942, in Sayre, PA, the daughter of the late William and Nellie (Dull) Spencer.

Beverly was a Co-Trustee of the Dr. Arthur B. King Scholarship Fund. She served the citizens of Athens Borough first as a Secretary and retiring as the Borough Manager with 40 plus years of service. Beverly was a kind, caring and knowledgeable woman who always was willing to help-out her family, friends, and perfect strangers. She enjoyed her yearly trips to visit with her CA family.

She is predeceased by her sister, Carol Daniels.

Beverly is survived by her beloved husband of 26 years; Ronald E. Olen R. Strong - December 13, 1935 - June 01, 2020

Obituary Preview: Olen R. Strong, 84, of Barton, NY, passed away at his home with his family by his side on Monday, June 1, 2020.

He was born on December 13, 1935, in Owego, NY to the late Harold and Louise (Friedah) Strong.

Olen worked for the Tioga Casting Facility in Owego, NY for many years where he served as president of the labor union at the foundry. He was a governor for the Loyal Order of Moose Club and a lifetime member. He was a member of the Tioga County Search and Rescue Team and the Halsey Valley Fire Department, where he served as an emergency medical technician and volunteer firefighter. Olen loved sports and was a devout fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Giants, and is remembered by many as a Little League coach. He is also fondly remembered for his love of playing Santa Claus. Olen and his late wife, Mary, would dress the part of Santa and Mrs. Claus, and distribute gifts to the children in their neighborhood.

Olen’s affinity for bowling kept him active until just three years ago, when he could no longer bowl. He served as president of bowling leagues at the Valley Bowling Center in Waverly, NY.

For socialization, Olen enjoyed spending time with friends and family at B’s Tavern in Nichols, NY or visiting McAnn’s Restaurant in Van Etten, NY. Olen made friends with whomever he came in contact with.

He is predeceased by his wife, Mary Strong in 2008; son, Olen “Danny” Strong in 2020; and grandson, Ryan Bidwell in 2005.

Olen is survived by his children, Deborah Palmer, Donna (Kenneth) Boynton, Doreen (Keith) Carlyle, Douglas (Cindi) Strong, and Dennis (Laura Warner) Strong; daughter-in-law, Debbie Strong (wife of the late Olen D. Strong); 9 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert Strong, Hank Strong, Steve Strong, and Chuck Strong; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service and celebration of life will take place on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Strong’s Pond located at 49 Depew Road, Barton, NY 13734.

A private burial will be in the Halsey Valley Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations may be made in Olen’s memory to the Halsey Valley Fire Company located at 506 Hamilton Valley Road, Spencer, NY 14883.

Upon returning home, he and Michelle had 4 children.

He is predeceased by his grandfathers Herbert F. Kurtz and Gilbert Murphy.

Phillip is survived by his mother Tina M. Kurtz, father and stepmother Phillip L., Sr. and Kristi L. Foote, sister Shannon Foote, former spouse Michelle Paxon, children Alyssa, Isaiah, Bella, and Christopher Foote, stepchildren Michael, Brittany, and Heather Krise, and Nick Medovich. She was an avid artist and was a member of the Valley Art Club. Gertrude loved to garden and was an animal lover, but most of all she loved her three children and will be remembered as a proud Democrat.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband Robert D. Gauss and her brother, Mason Leedy.

Gertrude is survived by her sons; Robert Donald (wife, Clare) Gauss Jr. of Murrells Inlet, SC and John Gauss of Sayre, PA; her daughter, Susan M. James is survived by his children; Tommy Allen of Sayre, PA, Roxanne (Dave) Mays of Athens, PA, Renee (Chris) Dickerson of Gillett, PA, and Sue (Chris) Hanrahan of Endicott, NY, 15 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother; Mina Allen, his sister and best friend; Sandy (Edward) Owen of Ridgebury Twp., PA, sisters Barbie (Gerry) Koser of Ridgebury Twp., PA, and Brenda (Bill) Plouse of Ridgebury, PA, special cousin; Travis VanDyke, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was born December 22, 1944 in Athens Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Marguerite and Arthur Storelli. She was the youngest of three siblings.

On April 1, 1967, she married John J. Halas who survives in Rock Hill, SC. She is also survived by her son, Kevin Halas of Rock Hill, SC; son and daughter in law Kenny and Donna Halas of Fort Mill, SC and grandchildren Steven and Ryan Halas.

Cheryl lived and worked in Rochester NY at CVS until 1987. She moved to Charlotte, NC and worked at Barclays America and CIT. Cheryl loved to cook, make the best pumpkin rolls, and be the host home for all family and friends. Her favorite summer trips were the beach with family and back North to visit friends and family along with the Amish country. She was an avid fan and supporter of her grandchildren’s high school soccer teams.

A Celebration of Life was held on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at 11am at Lifepointe Church at 390 York Southern Rd, Fort Mill, SC 29715. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at 11am at the Tioga Point Cemetery, 803 North Main Street, Athens, PA.

Following the graveside service, Cheryl will be laid to rest next to her mother, father, and siblings at Tioga Point Cemetery.

Mary is survived by her daughters; L. Rita Herzfeld and Sylvia Cushman, 5 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.

Obituary Preview: Vincent James (Vinnie) Miccio, 93, of Gillett, PA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family and friends on Thursday, May 21, 2020.

A Private Memorial Celebration will be held at a later date with family and close friends.

Vinnie was born at his childhood home in Queens to Anthony Valentine Miccio and Louise (Lulu) Philomena Miccio (Lutz) on January 21st, 1927.

Vinnie enlisted in the United States Navy to proudly defend his Country in World War II. He returned home after the war to his family and friends, beginning his employment as a Laborer in the shipyards. He quickly decided that that was not the life for him and took on an apprenticeship as a Machinist at Fairchild Republic. There he worked hard and advanced to become the Plant Manager. While at Fairchild, he led the team to build the tail for the 1st Space Shuttle. He fully retired in 1982 and moved to Gillett, PA from Long Island, NY to raise his 2 children with his wife, Sandra.

He was a devoted Jets fan through and through, and he enjoyed playing a round of Golf with his family and friends. Vinnie also enjoyed playing Backgammon, Poker, and spending time with his family and friends. He was known for busting your chops especially if he loved you (it was obvious he loved his wife), his kind heart, honesty, and honorability were immeasurable. He always had a warm smile to share with everyone no matter how bad he was feeling or how terrible his day was going. He was also very proud of his service to this great country and his role in coordinating annual reunions for his shipmates that served beside him on the USS Guam during WWII. He was a true Patriot.

Vinnie is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years Sandra M. Miccio (Kovarick), son Jason A. Miccio, (cherished granddaughters Alivia and Aubrey Miccio), his little girl Heather A. Paul (Miccio) and her husband who he loved as a son Christopher J. Paul, (cherished grandsons James, Matthew, and Aric Paul), Dr. Erika A. Sachno, his great-niece whom he also loved as a daughter (cherished great-nieces Audrey and Sophia Sachno), Robert Kovarick, his brother-in-law and 4 o'clock cocktail partner and finally his very close friends Bernie Matterazzo (Mitch) and Thomas Avellina (Sgt. Kowalski).

He is preceded in death by his parents Lulu and Anthony Miccio, beloved little girl Susan Miccio, son Adam Miccio, sister Phyllis (Miccio) Armstrong, and her daughter, his beloved niece Valerie Armstrong Sachno.

Irene B. Weathers - June 24, 1928 - May 20, 2020

Obituary Preview: Irene B. Weathers, longtime resident of Gainesville, GA, and most recently of Waverly, NY, passed away on May 20, 2020 at age 91 after a brief illness.

Irene was born in Calhoun Falls, SC, to Glenn and Annie Sue Bell. She attended Anderson College, SC, where she graduated in 1947 with a secretarial diploma.

Irene married the love of her life, Robert O. ("Bob") Weathers, in 1952. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Gainesville, GA, where they raised their three children.

Bob and Irene started a bookkeeping firm, Weathers BSB Service, in the 1960's. Irene continued operating the firm after Bob's death in 1970, finally closing its doors in 1981, after which she worked for several Gainesville companies before retiring in 1994.

Irene always kept busy, whether it was knitting, gardening, watching the birds at her feeder, or hiking with her many friends, and was a devoted member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Gainesville.

Irene was predeceased by her parents and her beloved husband. She is survived by her children, Deborah Weathers Lombardi and husband Gerry D'Ambrosia of Bolivia, NC; Gary Weathers of Perry, FL; and Carolyn Weathers of Sayre, PA, as well as her grandson Graham Lombardi and fiancée Maegan Becker of Atlanta, GA.

The family would like to thank the staff at Elderwood at Waverly for the loving care they gave Irene during the last two years of her life.

She was born on September 24, 1931 in Rochester, NY, the daughter of the late William Franklin and Mary Katherine (Solomon) Stoll.

Joan owned and operated the Park Hotel for many years and worked for Xerox as a part of the office staff. She enjoyed visiting different casinos and watching TV. Joan took great pleasure in sitting on her porch, the outside and watching all the deer come out in the evenings in the field across the road. She loved dogs and Emily, her beagle, was a rescue dog they saved and she instantly won their hearts and became part of the family.

She is predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law Carol and Richard Ward, sister Shelly Ward, and stepson Darryl Donlin.

Joan is survived by her beloved husband of 43 years, William Donlin at home, stepchildren Mari Buckman of Louisville, KY and Bruce Donlin of WA, nephew and his wife Richard and Charlene Ward of Syracuse, NY, nephew Dana Ward of Syracuse, NY, and her beagle, Emily.

There will be a private graveside service at the convenience of the family. The family is being cared for by Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA.

Burial will be in Bradford County Memorial Park, Luthers Mill, PA.

She was born at St. Joseph's Hospital, in Elmira, NY on December 31st, 1978 to Richard and Laurie (Christian) Campbell.

She lived a life that was full of love both to and from her family. Even in the hardest times, she was always able to keep a great sense of humor. She had a contagious laugh and was a passionate and ardent storyteller. She was an avid homesteader and often worked with children, which she loved. Quick-witted and entertaining, she had an irresistible charismatic energy. She approached life with a vivacious tenacity and always with a laugh. She loved the Earth. Nature was her sacred space. She believed in the magic that we all live in everyday life.

She was preceded in death by her father Richard Campbell.

Sheila is survived by her loving husband Patrick Hess, her children Angela Hess, Lauren Hess and Robert Hess, daughter in Spirit Erin Carson, furry son Cerberus, her mother Laurie Campbell, and her brother Robert Campbell.

There will be a celebration of life ceremony that will be celebrated later in the summer and an announcement will be made. The family is being cared for by Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA.

He was born on May 8, 1934 in Waverly, NY, the son of the late Paul and Ruth (Beatty) Chandler.

Richard worked in HVAC and was employed with PA Southern Gas, Sayre as their Head Installer, prior to retiring and worked for John H. Murray and Sons for several years.

He was very family-oriented and especially loved spending time and vacationing with them. Their yearly vacations to Fairhaven, NY, was Richard's favorite time as he was able to relax and be together as a family. Family gatherings were priority for him, especially when food was involved. He was very well-known for his chicken BBQ's and every weekend Richard would prepare his BBQ's to help raise funds to benefit Church on the Hill in Milan, PA, where he attended. He also served as a Deacon at Word of Faith Church in VanEtten, NY for 8 years. Richard always put others before himself and there were not many things that he could not fix. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Margaret, children, Terri (Mike) Smith, Cynda (Ron) VanWinkle, Jason Chandler, Jeff Chandler, Richard, Jr. (Janet) Chandler, Thomas Chandler, James Wells, Jr., Lynn (Conrad) Parshall, Deborah (Daniel) Lambert, Richard (Jessica) Wells, Tabatha (Darryl) Stamper, Timothy (Renee) Chandler, Paul (Elizabeth) Chandler, Rebecca Chandler, Uriah (Deanna) Frye, Ayla Frye, Sasha Wells, Reco (Kayla) Frye, and Charquequa Frye, 59 grandchildren, and 35 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at 2pm at the Greater Valley Assembly of God, 104 South Main Street, Athens, PA with the Rev. Wes Nichols officiating.

Cisco was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, owning 56 different motorcycles in his lifetime, and riding for over 60 years. He loved riding his bicycle. He enjoyed being on the water canoeing and kayaking.

He is predeceased by his brothers Quido Ciardi and Arthur Ciardi.

Mario is survived by his former spouse, companion and caregiver, Nancy (Northrup) Hildebrant, daughter, Cynthia Ciardi-Wolcott of Schenectady, NY, son, Nicholas Ciardi of Sayre, PA, grandchildren, Andrew Ciardi, Derek (Stephanie) Ciardi, Cassandra Wolcott, Jennifer (Nick) Smith, and Daniel Wolcott, great-grandchildren, Zachary, Isabella, Mitchell, and Cameron, and several nieces, and nephew.

He was born on December 24, 1933 in Terry Twp., PA, the son of the late Clifford and Eva (Newton) Teeter.

Donald was a Veteran of the US Navy, serving during the Korean War. He served as a Seabee in both Newfoundland and Cuba. He has been married to the love of his life, Henrietta, for 63 years. Donald was employed with the IR, Athens, for 33 years, prior to retiring. Donald and Henrietta have been active members of Independent Baptist Church, Towanda, for 53 years. Every Sunday, Sunday night, or Wednesday, rain, snow, or shine, you would find them in their "Spot" waiting for the service to start. His grandchildren were the light of his life…you could catch him saying, "they got their smarts from their grandfather".

In his younger years, Donald loved to hunt, fish, fly his glider and plane, coach Little League, and watch NASCAR. More recently, he became an avid gardener. In the springtime, there would be little tomato plants all over the kitchen, just waiting to be planted. Donald enjoyed collecting guns, lanterns, bullet knives, antique glass, and tools. His shed was referred to as the "Home Depot" by his children. His favorite pastime was reading his Bible and learning the Word of God.

Donald was a huge wrestling fan. When their boys were in high school, he would never miss a match. He traveled near and far to take them to matches and support their dreams. He was so proud of all their accomplishments. More recently, all winter long he would be looking for a Penn State match on TV to watch.

He is predeceased by his infant baby girl, brother, Clifford Teeter, Jr., stepmother, Mildred Teeter, and stepbrother, William Robinson.

Donald is survived by his loving wife, Henrietta Grace Teeter, at home, children, David Teeter of TX, Timothy (Laura) Teeter of Pottstown, PA, Mary-Eva Barrowcliff (Todd Croft) of Sayre, PA, Mark (Nicole) Teeter of Sayre, PA, Matthew Teeter of Milan, PA, and Rebekah (Jay) Deaton of FL, grandchildren, Trey (Brittany) Barrowcliff, Michaela Teeter, Daniel Teeter, Hailee Deaton, Collin Teeter, Zach Deaton, and Ainzlee Deaton, and great-grandson, Ryan Barrowcliff.
