Obituary Preview: Mrs. Wanda Jane (Campbell) Heron of Mabelvale, Arkansas, departed this life on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at the age of 80. She was born July 26, 1943 in Strawberry, Arkansas, the daughter of Alfred and Pauline (Honeycutt) Campbell. On October 31, 1963, Miss Wanda Campbell was wed to Mr. Howard Lee Heron, and together they enjoyed 56 years.
Mrs. Heron retired from St. Vincent Infirmary following 30 years of service, where she worked in childcare. She especially loved holding and loving on the babies at her job. Mrs. Heron enjoyed gardening on her scooter, and was an animal lover, especially cats and birds.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Howard Lee Heron; one sister, Carolyn Wilson; and her parents.
Mrs. Heron is survived by one brother, Edward Campbell and wife, Jackie of Chandler, Oklahoma; one sister, Lynda Niesel and husband, David of Oklahoma; her sisters-in-law, Jan Williams and Lynda Pechoski; a host of nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit at Jackson’s Newark Funeral Home, Saturday, December 2, 2023, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at Jackson’s Newark Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, with interment at Blue Springs Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Kevin Smith, Noah Smith, J.T. Modica, Joe Pechoski, Eddie Chadwick, and Allen Modica. Honorary pallbearers are John Pechoski, Cliff Williams, Bobby Wilson, Toby Williams, and Jimmy Jackson.

He was a protector, and you knew he always had your back.
Trevor was preceded in death by his papa, Lyndle Woodham; his uncle, Anthony Woodham; his great-grandpa, Junior Scoggin; great-grandma, Florence Briggs; great-grandpa, Duel Woodham; great-grandma, Ruby Woodham; and his great-uncle, Danny Scoggin.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, James and Robin Cochran; one brother, Tyler Cotton; his nanny, Katherine Woodham; his cousins, Mitchell and Courtney Woodham, and Patrick and Christy Woodham; his great-aunt, Sharon Cooper; great-uncle, Scotty Scoggin; and many other close friends and family. Obituary Preview: Mr. Nelson Edward Lovejoy of Mountain View, Missouri, a former native of Newark, Arkansas, passed Tuesday, July 20, 2021. He was born October 7, 1951 in Batesville, Arkansas at Dr. Gray’s Hospital.
He attended Newark High School.
Mr. Lovejoy was retired from the Army, where he served over 25 years as a Logistician, retiring in 1997. He served over 10 years in Europe, with 5 being on the former East/West German border with the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment during the fall of the Iron Curtain, reuniting East/West Germany in Fulda, Germany. Mr. Lovejoy was a member of the American Legion, and a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Ellis and Lena Elizabeth (Hassell) Lovejoy; three sisters, Winnie Lovejoy, Lena Juanita Lovejoy Guerrero, and Annette Lovejoy; and one brother, L.J. Lovejoy.
Mr. Lovejoy is survived by two daughters, Crystal Annette Lovejoy Buck and Tabitha Allison Lovejoy Croft, both of Texas; one son, Steven Edward Lovejoy of Germany; his significant other, Debra Gerard, of the home; four cousins, Debra Lovejoy Reynolds of California, Janie Lovejoy Sneed of Sulphur Rock, Arkansas, Lois Talley of Newark, Arkansas, and Edward Narce Hager of Desha, Arkansas.
Graveside services are 10:00 a.m. Friday at Edwards Cemetery at Newark.

He was a graduate of Newark High School, and a United States Army veteran, serving in World War II. Mr. Clark enjoyed cooking, barbequing, hunting, and fishing. He was a self-employed business man in Independence County many years.
Mr. Clark was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Mae (Winfrey) Clark; two brothers, Paul Clark and Jim Clark; one sister, Wilma Clark; and his parents.
He is survived by three sons, Wade Charles Jennings Clark, Morris Paul Clark of Montana, and Frankie Ray Clark and wife, Cathy, of Little Rock; one brother, Kenneth Clark of Batesville; one sister, Charlene Clark of Batesville; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a lifetime of friends.

Obituary Preview: Beloved mother and grandmother Exia Walker Lane, 91, died Wednesday, April 1, 2020, in Largo, FL. Funeral arrangements are pending with Jackson Funeral Home in Newark, AR.
Born at home in Independence County, AR, December 1, 1928, Exia was the youngest of ten children of Rufus and Myrtle (Metcalf) Walker. She married the love of her life, Herman L. Lane, April 5, 1953, in Newark, AR.
Herman and Exia lived on the Lane family farm north of Newark where she mastered cooking on a wood stove. They moved to Alexandria, VA, for two years before settling in Warner Robbins, GA, for the next thirty years. She tended the nursery at Corder Rd. Church of Christ for many years. Exia also learned to sew and made clothes for her girls, her twin, Jo Etta, and herself. In addition, she cared for Alayna, Cassandra, and Tonya, who were always dear to her. The Lanes moved to Memphis, TN, in 1987, Franklin, TN, in 2001, and Hixson, TN, in 2003. Exia was a housewife and known for her cooking. Even in her later years, she regularly cooked for the women’s group at Clear Creek Church of Christ in Hixson. She always kept “farm hours,” choosing to get up before dawn to cook for the day, just as she did on the farm. She moved in 2016 to Tampa, FL, with her daughter.
Exia was predeceased by her husband, parents, and all of her siblings.
She is survived by one son, Larry (Alice) Lane, of Midlothian, TX; two daughters: Loria (Jesse) Kirkham, of Danville, IN, and Lisa (Matt) Ellis, of St. Petersburg, FL; seven grandchildren: Jeanne (Robby) Hare, Igor Lane, Sergei Lane, Lane (Alyssa) Kirkham, Jessica Kirkham, Ashley (Jesse) Cook, and Brett (Betsy) Ellis; four great grandchildren: Bekah Kirkham and triplets Alfred, Lydia, and Gracie Ellis; and numerous nieces, nephews, and much loved friends.

Obituary Preview: Mr. Howard Lee Heron of Mabelvale, Arkansas, formerly of Newark, departed this life on Saturday, December 7, 2019, at the age of 77. He was born November 5, 1942 in Newark, the son of Clarence "Jack” and Bernice Beatrice (Petro) Heron.
Mr. Heron retired as a mechanic from a Little Rock Buick dealership in 1998. He got great enjoyment from working on cars, and following retirement, he owned HLH Auto. He was an avid gardener, who spent time raising tomatoes. Mr. Heron enjoyed watching NASCAR. He especially loved to visit and help others.
Mr. Heron was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Wanda (Campbell) Heron of the home; two sisters, Jan Williams and husband, Cliff, of Ward and Lynda Pechoski and husband, John, of McRae; several nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Friday, December 13, 2019, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Funeral services will follow Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Jackson’s Newark Funeral Home, with interment in Blue Springs Cemetery.

Bobby Fudge - August 21, 1937 - October 25, 2019

Obituary Preview: Mr. Bobby T. Fudge of Newark, Arkansas departed this life on Friday October 25, 2019 at the age of 82. He was born August 21, 1937 in Mt. Pleasant, Arkansas the son of Cecil Fudge and Helen (Troxler) Fudge.
Mr. Fudge worked for Coca Cola for 26 years, Gen Corp Automotive and Fastbreak until his retirement in 1999. He was a 32nd degree Mason and was in the National Guard for twenty-three years as Staff Sergeant. He was called to duty during the integration of Little Rock Central High School, in 1957, and he had an unparalleled work ethic. He was also an original member and lead singer of The Jokers. He loved drag racing, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburg Steelers and Arkansas Razorbacks. He was an avid animal lover. He was a member of the Newark Church of Christ where he was the song leader for many years and lead worship services at the nursing home.
Mr. Fudge was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Fudge is survived by his wife, of 60 years, Joella Marie (Rogers) Fudge, of the home; two sons, Adam Fudge and wife, Rebecca, of Sulphur Rock and Shane Fudge and wife, Christy, of Searcy; one brother, Nick Fudge and wife, Katrina, of Batesville; one sister, Roberta McGuffey and husband, Tony, of Batesville; two grandchildren, Halley Evan Fudge, of Batesville and Matthew Shane Fudge, of Searcy; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Newark Church of Christ. Interment will be in Macedonia Cemetery. Friends may visit at Newark Church of Christ Tuesday 12:30 until service time. Pallbearers are Adam Fudge, Shane Fudge, Matthew Fudge, Nick Fudge, Richard Fudge, Robert Fudge, Bernard Sexton and Travis Williams. Obituary Preview: Mrs. Marjorie Gertrude Edwards Magness, 97, of Fort Smith, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2019. Marge was born November 1, 1921 in Los Angeles, California, to John Clyde Edwards and Amelia Gertrude Dietrich Edwards. She grew up and spent most of her life in Newark, Arkansas. She later lived in Largo, Florida, for 15 years, and Fort Smith the past 19 years.
Marge was a life member of Hazel Edwards Memorial Methodist Church in Newark, where she was the Choir Soloist. She sang at her high school graduation, and often at weddings and funerals. Marge loved the friendships she made in Sunday school at First Methodist Church, Fort Smith. Although her primary job was homemaker and mother, she worked a short time as a nurse.
Marge enjoyed music, singing, and dancing, and she was rather good on the harmonica. She liked daily trips to the beach, tailgating at Phillies and Bucks games, and fishing. She loved being with her family.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and love, Jack L. Magness, with whom she eloped when they were 17 years old. They were married 52 years, and she was a widow for 27 years; two brothers, John Clyde, Jr., and Dietrich Edwards.
Marge is survived by a son, Jack Lindsey, Jr. (Carolyn), and a daughter, Nancy Jean Ingram (Wayne Lee); three grandchildren, Jack Gregory (Van), Cara Lindsey Gean (David), and Wayne Lee Ingram, Jr. (Patricia; and eight great-grandchildren, David, Jr. (Kristen), Robert, John, Anna, Luke, Meleia, Gianni, and Camelo.
Graveside services will be Friday, April 19, 2019, at Blue Springs Cemetery in Newark, Arkansas.

Obituary Preview: Mrs. Vern Berniece (Winston) Barber of Newark Arkansas departed this life on Friday, June 10, 2016, at the age of 87. She was born November 9, 1928, in Cord, Arkansas, the daughter of Chester Arthur Winston and Ira (Dugger) Winston.
Mrs. Barber worked at Victor Metal in Newport, the shoe factory in Batesville and was a licensed hairdresser. She also volunteered many years as caretaker of Edwards Cemetery.
Mrs. Barber was always willing to help anyone in need. Taking care of her family was her greatest love; she would go without to give to her family. She will be remembered as a giving, generous lady who loved everyone.
Mrs. Barber was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Barber on March 20, 2015, and her parents, and one brother Roy Winston.
She is survived by one son, Daniel Arthur Barber of Newark; one daughter Myra Gail Barber Twyford and husband, John, of Batesville; one sister Muriel West of Moorefield; two grandchildren, Robert Jordan Barber of Newark and Kayla Nicole Barber of Batesville.
Graveside service were held 10:00 a.m. Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Hopewell Cemetery at Cord.

She is survived by her son, John Shutt, Jr. of Newark; four daughters, Gail Kent and husband, Bobby, of Sulphur Rock, Vickey Layne and husband, Michael, of Melbourne, Susan Shutt of Sulphur Rock, and Brenda Piety and husband, Ralph, of Floral; one brother, James W. Roy of Bourban, Missouri; two sisters, Naomi Coburn of Covert, Michigan and Gracie Ann Chester of Jones, Michigan, eleven grandchildren, and twenty seven great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at Mt. Zion Cemetery with Bro. Rick Womack officiating. Visitation will be Friday, 9:30-10:30 a.m.

She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-nine years, Robert David Barnes, Sr.; one son, Scottie Laster; her parents; one brother, James “Bo” Laster and two sisters, Irene Gillum and Katherine Adair.
Mrs. Barnes was a homemaker and a member of the Magness Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Mrs. Barnes could be packed at a moments notice for a trip.
She is survived by three sons, Johnny Batson and wife Shirley of Newark, Finis Barnes and wife Arrita of Newark and David Barnes, Jr. and wife Barbara of Charlotte; one daughter, Donna Pectol and husband Ernie of Magness; one sister, Wanda Kuchler of Newark; ten grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Newark Church of Christ with Mr. Danny Blevins officiating. Interment will be in Macedonia Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Duane Pearson, Larry Magness, Billy Davis, David McIntosh, Jackie Magness and Charles Magness. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

He was an Environmental Technologist for Arkansas Eastman Kodak, retiring in 1999 after 28 years. After retirement he became an Independence County Reserve Sheriffs Deputy. Mr. Darmstaedter was a member of the Magness Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed woodcarving and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a United States Air Force veteran and a member of the 32̊ Mason and Shriners.
Mr. Darmstaedter was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John and Nicholas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Moss; her son, Bobby L. Moss; her grandson, Kevin McDonald; and three brothers, Verge Arnold, Holman Arnold, and Borden Arnold.
Mrs. Moss is survived by one daughter, Louise McDonald and husband Jerry of Jonesboro; one granddaughter, Katherine Zaharopoulos and husband Pete of Springhill, Tennessee; one great-granddaughter, Christin Zaharopoulos; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Monday at Newark Church of Christ with interment following in Blue Springs Cemetery. Friends may visit at the church 1:00 p.m. until service.

Bobby Moore - August 28, 1952 - July 29, 2013

Obituary Preview: \Mr. Bobby Joe Moore, 60, of Farmington died Monday at Fayetteville. He was born August 28, 1952 in Newark, Arkansas, the son of C.L. and Joann (Snelgrove) Moore.
Mr. Moore was a 1970 graduate of Newark High School, and a 1974 graduate of Lyon College. He attended Lyon College on Baseball and Basketball scholarships, and obtained a BSE in P.E. and History. Mr. Moore was a beloved high school coach, beginning his coaching and teaching career in Viola, Arkansas, coaching girls and boys basketball. He continued coaching for 27 years, before retiring at Waldron in 2007. Mr. Moore had coached at schools throughout Arkansas, Missouri, and Texas, winning several coaching awards, including Coach of the Year in both Arkansas and Missouri. He also owned and operated Arkansas Sports Productions.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Bill Keen; and brother-in-law, Lendel Thomas.
Mr. Moore is survived by his wife of thirty-six years, Vicki (Keen) Moore of Farmington; two daughters, Sonya Post and husband Andrew of Greenwood, and Kara Nichols and husband Brandon of Fayetteville; one brother, Charles Lynn Moore and wife Mary of Newark; two grandchildren, Laynee and Raegan Post; two nieces, Christy Moore McDoniel and Melissa Moore Parker and husband Jesse; his mother-in-law, Melba Keen of Fayetteville; in-laws, Malcolm and Linda Winters of Gravette, Richard and Lori Keen of Springdale, John Keen of Fayetteville, Sheri Keen of Fayetteville, Patti Thomas of Harrison, Mike and Sandi Phillips of Ogden, Utah, Randy and Nancy Keen of Fayetteville, Kendall and Susan Keen of Fayetteville; one uncle, George Snelgrove and wife Robbie of Oil Trough; one aunt, Vernell Cullins and husband Ernest of Pine Bluff; sixteen nieces and nephews; 14 great-nieces and nephews; numerous cousins, and a lifetime of friends.

Mr. Caldwell was a retired farmer and residential construction contractor. He was a member of the Magness Church of Christ. Mr. Caldwell served in the Civilian Conservation Corp, and was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting with his brothers. He also enjoyed raising horses, cattle, and goats.
Mr. Caldwell was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita (McDoniel) Caldwell; one son, Ronald Caldwell; four brothers, Ray Caldwell, Jeff D. Caldwell, Tom W. Caldwell, and John Rollins Caldwell; four sisters, Mary Caldwell Matthews, Katie Caldwell Lindsey, Georgia Caldwell Bolin, and Floy Caldwell Lake; a granddaughter, Rhonda Caldwell; one great granddaughter; and one great-great granddaughter.
He is survived by one daughter, Janet Ryan and husband Tim of Kansas City, Missouri; four grandchildren, Debra S. Kelly, Dan D. Stiner, Kavin R. Caldwell, and DeAnna G. Caldwell; several nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of friends.
Graveside services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Macedonia Cemetery with Bro. J.B. Milligan officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Carter Barber, Bill McElroy, Jerry Matthews, and Timothy Ryan.

She is survived by one son, David Money and wife Barbara of Conway; one daughter, Anne Money of Columbus, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Linda Money of Lebanon, Missouri; one brother, Paul Bottoms and wife Wanda of El Cajon, California; five grandchildren, Shannon, Ashley, Travis, Matthew, and Kelly Money; two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Autumn; and two step-great-grandchildren, Dawson and Mason.
