Obituary Preview: Mr. Orvel L. Bise of Sherwood, Arkansas, departed this life on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the age of 85. He was born September 3, 1938, in Beedeville, the son of Vester and Hester (Majors) Bise.
After graduating from Newport High School, Mr. Bise enlisted in the United States Air Force and served in the Korean War. He also worked for Lance Company as a salesman and supervisor for twenty years. Mr. Bise enjoyed playing and watching golf and fishing. He also loved watching old westerns.
Mr. Bise was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara (Woodruff) Bise; two sons, Randy Bise and Mickey Bise; and a daughter, Sandy Allen.
He is survived by his son, Jerry Bise, of Hot Springs Village; a daughter-in-law, Tina Bise, of Sherwood; one sister, Jean Johnson, of Batesville; nine grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.

Obituary Preview: Mr. Thomas Richard Patterson of Swifton, Arkansas, departed this life on Friday, May 3, 2024, at the age of 85. He was born March 5, 1939 in Newport, the son of Robert Wood Patterson, Sr., and Lina Mae (Hembrey) Patterson.
Mr. Thomas Patterson wed Miss Patsy Hamilton on August 30, 1957. They spent sixty-six happy years together, raising their children and building a life full of love. Mr. Patterson, a Master Plumber and avid outdoorsman, spent many hours hunting, fishing, and working in his shop building things.
Mr. Patterson spent more than 60 years ministering in five different churches. In his later years, he served as a minister at Abiding Faith Church in Swifton, where he shared the word of the Lord with the congregation. He found the greatest joy in the love he shared with his family, his community, and his church.
Mr. Patterson was preceded in death by two grandsons, Joe Hamilton and Jeremiah Goza; two sisters, Martha Ray and Helen Smith; two brothers, Anthony Patterson and Robert Wood Patterson; one half-brother, Ricky Dale Benskin; and his parents.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Patsy Hamilton Patterson of the home; two sons, Thomas Robert Patterson of Swifton, and Alan Vernon Patterson and wife, Sherri of Batesville; two daughters, Carolyn Patterson Hohn and husband, Lonnie of Newport, and Lydia Patterson Ranger and husband, James III of Bakersfield, California; one brother, Jerry Patterson and wife, Dana of Newport; sixteen grandchildren, Dana Hamilton Southhall and husband, Jimmy, Amber Sullins and husband, Westley, Drew Hohn and wife, Alyssa, Amanda Castle, Joshua Patterson, Jim Ranger and wife, Camilla, Jonathan Ranger and wife, Amber, Cody Patterson and wife, Rachel, Caleb Patterson, Emma Patterson, Anesa James and husband, Devon, Julia Horton and husband, Justin, Ben Torres and wife, Leandra, Braydon Barnes, Kailyn Barnes, and Kayme Torres; twenty-six great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home, Wednesday, May 8, 2024, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 9, at Abiding Faith in Swifton. Interment will follow at Watson Cemetery.
His grandsons are honored to serve as pallbearers. Robby and David Patterson are honorary pallbearers.

Obituary Preview: Mrs. Belva LaFaye (Nelson) Hutchinson of Newport departed this life on Friday, May 3, 2024, at the age of 92. She was born April 10, 1932 in Rector, Arkansas, the daughter of Vernie and Gertrude (Dorris) Nelson.
She graduated from Rector High School, where she was on the basketball team. She married Mr. Virgil Hutchinson on July 24, 1949, they enjoyed sixty years of marriage. Mrs. Hutchinson loved cooking and was known for her famous dumplins and apple pies. She enjoyed working in her flower beds and traveling, she always had a bag packed ready to go. Mrs. Hutchinson was an avid Arkansas Razorback and St. Louis Cardinals fan. She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church for seventy-five years, where she sang in the choir and was in the Ladies Auxiliary. Her greatest love was her family, she enjoyed spending time with them.
Mrs. Hutchinson was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Hutchinson; one brother, Byron Ray Nelson; her parents; her maternal grandparents, William Commadore and Clemma Elizabeth (McKenzie) Dorris.
She is survived by one son, Todd David Hutchinson of Newport; one daughter, Beth Hutchinson Bright, and husband, Larry, of Newport; one very special sister, Beatrice Fisher of Cave City; four grandchildren, Amber Hutchinson Taylor and husband, Joel, of Ladonnia, Texas, Derek Bright and wife, Katie, of Newport, Summer Bright Haik and husband, Rich, of Springfield, Missouri; and Kaelin Hutchinson Garcia and husband, Edgar, of Newport; eight great grandchildren, Joseph Taylor, Asher Taylor, Danika Taylor, Kari Taylor, Molly Bright, Clara Bright, Ruby Bright, and Warner Haik; and a host of nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit at Jackson’s Funeral Home, Tuesday 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Jackson’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Watson Cemetery.

Joe "Jody" Tapp - March 03, 1942 - April 29, 2024

Obituary Preview: Harold Joseph Franklin Tapp, affectionately known to his friends and family as Jody, age 82, passed away on April 29, 2024, at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, Arkansas, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
One of six children, Jody was born on March 3, 1942, to Columbus and Lula Tapp. He grew up in Grubbs, working on the farm and racing his Dodge Dart on the weekends. He attended and graduated from Grubbs High School in 1960 and received his business degree from Arkansas State University. He served in the Army National Guard. During high school, he met Beverly Warbington (of Newport, AR), whom he married. They made their home in Newport, Arkansas, where Jody devoted the majority of his career to Norandal, working for 40+ years as a successful and valued salesman and customer service director. His days off and weekends were spent on the golf course, where he made many memories with friends and family over the years, especially with his two sons Doug and Jeff. His favorite time of year was the Newport Country Club Invitational golf tournament, when he played with his long-time friend Butch Duncan every summer for many years. He served on the board and as president of the Newport Country Club, and cherished the time and memories made both in the clubhouse and on the course. He was a faithful Christian and a devoted member of First Baptist Church Newport including the Harold Erwin Sunday School class, where he attended. Even with so many beautiful memories and friendships, the greatest love of his life was his family. He adored his four grandchildren, and they adored their Papaw and Papa Joe; he doted on them constantly and never passed up an opportunity to spend even a moment with any of them. He was much-loved by his two daughters-in-law, whom he treated more like daughters. His legacy of integrity, kindness, and love will not be forgotten and will live on in the lives of his children and grandchildren, and all who were lucky enough to know him.
Jody is preceded in death by his wife Beverly Warbington Tapp, the mother of his children; his brothers Billy Joe Tapp and Carl Tapp; and his parents Columbus and Lula Tapp. He is survived by his wife Susan Metcalf Tapp, his two sons, Douglas Lynn Tapp (Catherine) of Bentonville and Jeffery Joe Tapp (April) of Jacksonville, Florida; his four grandchildren Slayton Tapp, Presley Tapp, Gabriel Tapp, and Shepherd Tapp; two sisters Barbara Bradley and Peggy Hoffmeister, both of Newport; one brother Donald Tapp of Powhatan; step-children Heather Halbert (Toby) of McCrory and Grey Metcalf (Susanna) of Newport; and step-grandchildren Spencer Carden, Jo Carden, Laken Halbert, Grace Metcalf, and Cameron Halbert; and a multitude of friends and family.
The family would like to extend an eternal gratitude to Southern Caregivers, Loretta Murphy, and the incredible staff at the Phil and Flo Jones Hospice House for their exceptional and personal care to the very end.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024, at 11:00am at First Baptist Church in Newport, Arkansas, with visitation scheduled for 10:00am at FBC.

Michael Ray Brann - January 28, 1957 - April 29, 2024

Obituary Preview: Mr. Michael Ray Brann of Lawrence, Kansas, departed this life on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at the age of 67. He was born January 28, 1957, in Little Rock, Arkansas, the son of Benjamin Sanford Brann, III and Elwanda (McNutt) Brann.
Michael graduated from Shawnee Mission High School at Overland Park, Kansas in 1975.
Following high school, he attended the University of Kansas where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business in 1979 and later went on to earn a double Masters in Business and Marketing from Webster University in Webster Groves, Missouri.
Michael was an executive for Toyota and Lexus for more than 25 years. He worked for the Toyota Motor Company and traveled extensively throughout the United States with his career and he and his family relocated many times making their homes, from Maryland to California. On the ten year anniversary of the Lexus Corporation, he organized a trip to Japan, and a few lucky winners were able to accompany him on the trip. According to Michael, the Japanese treated them with utmost hospitality and kindness during their visits.
Michael loved music and learned to play the guitar in college.
He was a talented athlete who enjoyed playing a variety of sports, but he was an especially talented ice skater. Unbeknownst to his parents loved ice hockey. Michael enjoyed baseball, golf, and basketball. Running cross country and track were also a passion of his, with his preferred race being the half-mile. He had a competitive spirit and thrived on winning; whether it be a game of bridge or a round of golf. As an adult, Michael earned a black belt in Taekwondo.
He was a talented woodworker and could make or repair anything. Michael was an avid outdoorsman, who especially enjoyed fishing for salmon and halibut in Alaska, and bird hunting.
He had a larger-than-life personality, always sporting a smile and offering a kind word to anyone he met. Michael had a generous and kind-hearted nature, and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. He possessed a genuine love for people, and as a result, was loved by many.
His family was the most important thing to him, and he loved them dearly.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife and soulmate, Sheryl Snyder Brann of Lawrence; one son, Christopher Brann of Lawrence; one daughter, Catherine Brann Trammell and husband, Brent, of Eudora, Kansas; one brother, Dr. Ben S. Brann IV of Arlington, Texas; and a lifetime of friends.

Julian Olson - July 18, 1940 - April 27, 2024

Obituary Preview: Julian Earl Olson, lovingly known as “Jinx” in the South, departed this life on Saturday, April 27, 2024, after a long battle with respiratory illness, at the young age of 83 years. He was born on July 18, 1940 in Swifton, Arkansas to George Olson and Ruby Jewell Thompson. Though he and his older brother Donald grew up in Detroit, Michigan, they spent many memorable summers with their grandfather, Otto Julian, in Swifton.
At 17 years old, he joined the Navy and served on the USS Hancock after the Air Force denied him entry for being too young. Honorably discharged in 1961, he moved to San Francisco where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree at San Francisco State University and his Master of Business degree at Golden Gate University. As a Sales Manager in Silicon Valley, Julian worked with progressive companies that developed leading edge technologies. He eventually retired to Swifton, where he enjoyed researching and writing books, riding his bicycle around town, and spending time with family, his church community, and proudly serving as a Gideon. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and unending thirst for knowledge.
Julian is survived by his former spouse, Michi Olson of Las Vegas, Nevada; their daughters, Amanda Olson of San Francisco, California, and Jessica Wu and spouse Sam, of Henderson, Nevada; and their granddaughter, Melanie Wu. Julian is also survived by special cousins Penny and Rob Slagley of Swifton, and many other cousins and a host of friends. All of Swifton.
Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 5:00 pm at the Swifton Assembly Life Center on Felicia Street in Swifton. Please come and celebrate “Jinx”. Dinner will be served. Everyone invited.

Peggy McCollum - April 27, 1937 - April 26, 2024

Obituary Preview: Peggy Jo (House) McCollum passed peacefully to her heavenly reward in the early morning hours of April 26, 2024.
Born April 27, 1937, to sharecropper parents, she grew up chopping cotton, cooking, and keeping a close eye on her little brothers. Quiet, shy, and unassuming, she was poached from her high school’s glee club to become the tallest girl on the basketball team, a sport she quickly came to love. She married Robert “Bob” McCollum on February 16, 1957. Together, they built a family, through the births of their children, Beth and Rob, and she devoted the rest of her life to her family. When she wasn’t busy with Rob at a baseball tournament or watching Beth and Bob at a horse show, she was working (she was a whiz with numbers), quilting, crocheting, sewing, writing, cooking, drawing, or reading cookbooks. In her later years, she gave this same loving attention to her granddaughters, ensuring they always had the best costumes for every Halloween or school program, and teaching them to do all the things she enjoyed doing. She loved to sing hymns in church and Elvis in her kitchen, and to laugh her great, joyful laugh. Peggy was quick to help anyone in need through her many talents and was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ. She was truly a virtuous and Christian woman.
Peggy was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Susan Elizabeth “Beth” McCollum, her parents, Howard and Brooksie “Chick” House, baby brother, Larry House, and brother, Jimmy House.
She is carried in the hearts of her loving husband of 67 years, Bob McCollum; devoted son, Robert “Rob” McCollum; daughter in love, Beverly Nix; granddaughters, Katie (Keith) Prescott, Kristin (Mike) Sullivan, and Karrah (Frank) Seitz; great grandchildren, Allie and Wyatt Prescott, Ellie and Sam Sullivan, and Wade and Evie Seitz; brothers, Howard (Jimmie Rae) House, and Mickey (Allyson) House; her nieces and nephews, Sherry, Sandra, Jade, Shannon, David, and Amanda; and, a full and selfless life’s worth of friends.

Obituary Preview: Mr. Henry Wade Freeman of Oil Trough, Arkansas, departed this life on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at the age of 75. He was born November 10, 1948, in Newport, the son of E.A. and Letty Ruth (Hays) Freeman.
Mr. Freeman was an Army veteran and served in the Vietnam War with great courage and resilience. His bravery earned him two Purple Hearts and Bronze Stars, accolades that reflect his selflessness and sacrifice during his service. Mr. Freeman went on to work for the United States Postal Service in Newport as a maintenance man and he also drove a postal run route, transporting mail from Batesville to Little Rock. Mr. Freeman’s life was a testament to service, bravery, and unwavering dedication to his community.
Mr. Freeman was a hardworking man and enjoyed his time raising cattle and collecting guns. He will be remembered for always being there for his friends and family anytime he was needed.
Mr. Freeman is preceded in death by two brothers, Presley Freeman and Kenneth Freeman; the mother of his children, Judy (Helms) Selvidge; and his parents.
He is survived by his son, Edward Allen Freeman, of Oil Trough; two daughters, Anna Marshall of Mabelvale and Peggy Sue Gillette of Oil Trough; four brothers, Gaylord Freeman and wife, Linda, of Oil Trough, Raymond Freeman and wife, Cathy, of Tuckerman, Wayne Freeman and wife, Cara, of Oil Trough, and Timothy Freeman and wife, Sarah, of Oil Trough; a sister, Letty Sue Addington, of Oil Trough; seven grandchildren, Harrison William Gillette, Kennedy Suzanne Gillette, Jackson Gillette, Reagan Jewel Gillette, Theodore Jude Freeman, Edward Allen Freeman, Jr., and Liam Urijah Wade Freeman; many nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.

Mrs. Fletcher was a graduate of Newport High School. She worked as a cook for the Newport Special School District for fifty years, until her retirement in 1985. Mrs. Fletcher was also a top Sales Representative for Avon. She was a member of the Sandhill Church of Christ.
Mrs. Fletcher was a beloved member of her community, known for her kindness and dedication to helping others. She enjoyed bowling with her friends as a member of the 10-Pin Ladies Bowling League and spending time knitting with the Pretty Punch Knitting group. Mrs. Fletcher served her community while working for the Jackson County Emergency Squad and as a 911 Dispatcher for the White River Women’s Shelter. Above all else, she was a devoted mother and Nannie, whose family was her greatest joy. Mrs. Fletcher had a special gift for making everyone feel loved and valued.
Mrs. Fletcher was preceded in death by her husband, William D. “Bill” Fletcher; one son, Gregory Allen Fletcher; a brother, Gene House; two sisters, Marie Herring and LaVerne Scudder; one granddaughter, Nicole Fletcher; a great-grandson, Jordan Grady; her daughter-in-law, Susan Fletcher; and her parents.
She is survived by her son, Darrell Fletcher, of Remmel; two grandchildren, Bruce Fletcher and Ashli Fletcher Grady; a great-grandson, Jalen Grady; many nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.

She was a member of the Church of Christ. Mrs. Jordan could often be found working in her yard and tending to her flowers. Her pride and joy was her family. She truly loved them more than anything.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Dean Jordan; one infant son; one sister, Betty Lou Riley; and her parents.

Obituary Preview: Mr. Gary Walton Brock of Gainsboro, Arkansas, formerly of Elgin, departed his worldly home on Monday, April 22, 2024, at the age of 77. He was born July 6, 1946, the son of Henry Walton and Naomi Lee (Stoner) Brock.
Gary was a carpenter by trade and was also the former owner and operator of Brock’s Liquor Store and Spanky’s Bar at Elgin.
Gary was a lover of all animals and rescued many dogs over the years. His beloved, Mitzi, his buddy, Petey, and his girl, Roxie, were his loves. Gary enjoyed spending time hunting and watching westerns and old movies. He was an avid reader and Razorback fan.
Gary was preceded in death by one son, Robert Brock; one daughter, Kim Clark; his brother, Jerry Brock; a sister, Joan Fortenberry; and his parents.
He is survived by his life partner, Debbie Henderson, of the home; his son, Chad Odom and wife, Tonia, of Tuckerman; three daughters, Lori Brock of Marion, Keri Brock of San Antonio, Texas, and Heather Brock of Bellevue, Michigan; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren, with one on the way.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Cheshier Cemetery, with Mr. Buddy Combs officiating. Friends may visit at Jackson’s Funeral Home Thursday, prior to the service, beginning at 12:30 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held after the service at Lisa G’s, formerly known as Spanky’s, at Elgin.

Obituary Preview: Kenneth Ira Housh, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 75 on Wednesday morning, April 17, 2024, at his home in Swifton, AR.
Born December 13, 1948, in Newport, AR, to Harvey and Juanita (Rorex) Housh, Ken's journey was marked by warmth, kindness, and a steadfast dedication to those he held dear. Throughout his life, Ken touched the hearts of countless individuals with his genuine compassion and unwavering generosity.
Ken was a 1967 graduate of Swifton High School and completed a BSA in Agricultural Business from Arkansas State University in 1971. He devoted 33 years of his life to his work with the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service, retiring in 2004. He furthered his career with the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission, retiring again in 2011.
Ken was known for his loyalty, dedication, competitive nature, and his love of “the game”. Whether it was playing or watching golf, deer hunting, or playing cards with friends, he approached each endeavor with a gentle spirit, contagious enthusiasm, and a good dose of competitiveness. His infectious smile and ability to find joy in the simplest of moments left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He was a devout Christian, studying God’s word daily, and a member of the Hoxie Church of Christ.
Above all, Ken cherished his role as a devoted husband, loving daddy, and proud grandad. His family was the center of his world, and he found immense joy in creating lasting memories with them. From the age of 13, Ken adored his “Susie”, and they were blessed with 56 years of marriage, two children, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Ken's unwavering love and support were a constant source of strength and inspiration, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to call him family or friend.
In his final moments, Ken was surrounded by the love and comfort of his family, who take solace in knowing that he is at peace. Though he may be physically gone, Ken's spirit will live on in the countless lives he touched and the cherished memories he leaves behind.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents Harvey and Juanita Housh; sister, Bonnie Maas; brother, Gary Housh; and infant sister, Donna Housh.
He is survived by his wife, Suanne Hulett Housh and beloved dog, Lewey, of the home; two children, Eric (Ramonda, aka Mondi) Housh of Pocahontas, Beth (Mark) Ogden of Swifton, four grandchildren, Dylan (Maddie) Housh, Sydney Housh, Emily Ogden (Blake) Lee, all of Jonesboro; Adam Ogden of Swifton; and three great-grandchildren, Naomi Kathryn Housh, Hudson Scott Housh, and Ellie Anne Lee; three sisters, Vickie Maxwell of Bloomington, IN; Linda Higgins and Janet (Steve) Kincaid; sister-in-law, Lorene Housh, all of Charleston, SC; and many well-loved cousins, nieces, nephews, and life-long friends. Ken was also blessed with a special cousin and friend, Junior Hulett, who stood by him faithfully through the best and worst of times during the past several years.
In honor of Ken’s life, visitation will be at Jackson’s Funeral Home of Newport on Thursday, April 18th, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at the Swifton Church of Christ on Friday, April 19th, at 2:00 p.m. with Bill Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow at the Swifton Cemetery.

Debra will be remembered as a kind person who was always helping people in the community. She attended the Campbell Station Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Max Williams and Vernell (Scott) Britten; three brothers, Kenneth Williams, Nelton Spicer, and Allen Spicer.
Debra is survived by her husband, Benny Daniels; two daughters, Crystal Honey and partner, Jay Jones, and Stephanie Rice and husband, Andrew; five grandchildren, Bethany Honey, Danny Wilson, Kimberly Clem, Billy Goode, and Rebecca Smith; and 13 great grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne Williams and Lonnie Williams; one sister, Susan Mabry; and her very dear special friend, Claire Smart; and a lifetime of friends.

Mrs. Hodges worked in the cafeteria of the Newark School System before retiring. She enjoyed sewing, fishing, and searching for treasures at yard sales and Goodwill. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching Duck Dynasty. Most importantly, she cherished spending time with her family.
She was a member of the Newark Church of Christ.
Mrs. Hodges was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Hodges, Jr.; one grandson, Kristofer Coleman; three brothers, Gerald Sullins, Jennings Sullins, and Preston Sullins; and her parents.
She is survived by one son, Michael Ernest Hodges and wife, Reeda, of Newark; two daughters, Debbie Coleman of Newark and Kathy Carey and husband, Tim, of Paragould; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.

After serving 35 years in customer service and operations, he retired from Norandal. Mr. Harp was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at deer camp. He also collected Massey-Harris Tractors and enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball and college basketball games.
Mr. Harp and his wife Rosetta enjoyed vacationing in Branson with their friends. Above all, he cherished spending time with his grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Junior Harp, Edward Harp, and Jerry Harp; and his parents.
Mr. Harp is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rosetta (Beary) Harp of the home; one son, Keith Harp and wife, Melodie of Jonesboro; one daughter, Melissa Harp of Newport; five grandchildren, Paige Caraway of Clarksville, Tennessee, Kayla Harp of Jonesboro, Craig Harp of Fayetteville, Lexi Harp of Newport, and Will Alan Harp of Jonesboro; one great-granddaughter, Zoey Caraway; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Jimmy and Merline Phillips; and a lifetime of friends.

Diana was a member of the Washington Avenue Church of Christ in Jonesboro and her church community held a special place in her heart. She had a wide circle of friends all over the country and was very active on Facebook, where she made many new friends.
Diana was a kind and considerate person who never met a stranger. Her loss will be felt deeply by those who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jennings and Mabel Sullins; and one brother, Phil Sullins.

Mr. McAdams had a passion for restoring old vehicles and driving fast cars. He was a man of diverse interests and spent his time riding motorcycles, drawing, painting, and gardening. Mr. McAdams enjoyed raising and riding horses and practicing Taekwondo. He also loved watching western and martial arts movies.
Mr. McAdams was preceded in death by one son, Tommy L. McAdams, Jr; three brothers, Ronnie, Harry, and Bill McAdams; a niece, Laura Reed; and his parents.

Obituary Preview: Mr. Jimmy Dunham of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at the age of 82. He was born October 6, 1941, the son of Robert and Bessie (Ivie) Dunham. On May 18, 1961, Mr. Jimmy Dunham was married to Miss Georgia Louise Hancock, and together they enjoyed 56 years.
Jimmy was retired from Countryside Mobile Homes, and later spent many years building homes and portable buildings. He worked hard to provide for the family he loved so much.
He believed in following the King James Version of the Holy Bible, serving God from cover to cover.
Jimmy was a talented musician who had the ability to play rhythm guitar in such a way that it seemed like he was playing 2-3 guitars at once. Over 45 years ago, Mr. Dunham started a singing ministry with his wife, Georgia, and daughter, Brenda. They traveled to different places, sharing their gifts with anyone who needed them.
Jimmy was a gentle soul, who loved his family and God with all his heart.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Georgia (Hancock) Dunham; one son, Jimmy Dewayne Dunham; his son-in-law, Rodney Wilson; one brother, Willard “Bill” Dunham; two sisters, Ruth Green and Fannie Lee Ivie; and his parents.
Jimmy is survived by his daughter, Brenda (Dunham) Wilson of Newport. He also leaves behind one grandson, David Wilson and his wife, Suzanne of Velvet Ridge, as well as five great-grandchildren: Hayden Huey, Addison Huey, Sonny Wilson, Eric Wilson, and Harmony Glover. Additionally, he is survived by one sister, Marie Mitchell of Van Buren, and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Roger and Barbara Phillips and Sonny and Bettye Gish. Jimmy had many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a lifetime of friends who will miss him dearly.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life and lunch at the PHP Building in Amagon, Saturday, April 6, 2024 from 11:30-1:30 p.m.

Mrs. Holk had a keen interest in gardening and enjoyed watching birds that visited her backyard. She loved spending time at her lake house, fishing and being outdoors. Her love for dogs and cats was well-known as she had taken in many strays over the years.
Mrs. Holk was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Fred Holk; two sisters, Joan Keel Brown and Gertrude “Trudy” Keel; and her parents.
She is survived by her son, Douglas Bland and wife, Elizabeth of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania; one daughter, Cynthia Bland Fields of Heber Springs; her step-daughter, Susanna Holk of Jonesboro; two grandchildren, Davis Keel Bland and Stuart Holk Bland, both of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania; three step-grandsons, Jonathan Burgin, Bryan Neal, and Jacob Neal; two brothers, John E.
