He attended the University of Missouri (MU) in Columbia, MO, as an undergraduate, where he completed the necessary requirements to enter MU's College of Veterinary Medicine by the age of 20. He graduated from veterinary school in 1968 and came to work with his father in Rogersville. He loved being a veterinarian and took great pride in always being there for his clients and their animals.

The Spragg side of that union would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Jean side for all they did in helping care for Gary. Gary also placed a high value on helping the community. It would be impossible for us to name everyone in the surrounding community who has contributed to helping Gary, especially over the past couple of years. We are grateful for your kindness. We do wish to extend our gratitude to Dr. Alec Carroll for all he has done since joining the clinic, Lesley Griffin for her years of assistance to Gary, and The Oaks Cottage’s caring staff in Ozark.

Departed: 01/15/2024 (Rogersville)
Obituary Preview: Sally Leigh Staley, 70, Rogersville, passed away Monday, January 15, 2024 at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born June 25, 1953 in Leavenworth, Kansas the daughter of the late Leonard and Mary Staley.
Sally loved to play her guitar and was good at it; even wrote some music that she sent in to artists. She joined the Naval Academy October 27, 1975 at the age of 22. She served in various locations before her final assignment in Hawaii and retired from active-duty July 8, 1985. She went on to work at Tesoro BHP refinery in Hawaii until she retirement in 2012. She loved living in Hawaii and hated to leave so many of her friends. Afterall; they were her family away from home. But she retired earlier than she had originally planned to move to Rogersville, Missouri to be closer to her sister Becky and her Nieces and Nephews. While back in Missouri she had lots of fun going to the casinos. She especially loved her Tennessee Titans and placing bets on sports in general. It is safe to say that a few of the family members may have acquired a gambling problem. But when it came to cooking for her family or big family gatherings; you were guaranteed to get some amazing food! Sally had fought and beaten cancer a few years back; but unfortunately, it had recently returned and took her before she had a chance to fight back. She loved her family and friends fiercely - If anyone needed anything at all and she was able, she had your back, no questions asked. Sally will be missed by many!
