Thank you for being with us today, to celebrate the life of a remarkable woman, our mother Wilma.
We rarely express our gratitude for someone.  Our mom made sure we always knew how much she cared.  She reminded us every day how important we were to her. We knew she loved us because she took the time to tell us.  Our mom was an incredible person.  We feel very lucky to have been her children.  So today we want to express our gratitude to her for everything she did for us.
Our mother was loved by so many. She always knew how to brighten someone's day and make them feel loved. She treated everyone with kindness and respect. She rarely got mad and when she did, you knew she had a darn good reason! Her outlook on life was inspiring. If you were lucky to spend more than five minutes in her presence, you were forever changed. We are so grateful to have had a mother who embraced each day with optimism.
Our lives have been forever changed because she was part of us.  Even with her passing, we know that she will always be here with us. Now she must live on in our hearts.  Our mother will be deeply missed.

Yes, I’m waiting for that day when the Master will say son come and sit and listen to me.

Sean Michael Walters - August 27, 1988 - January 22, 2022

Departed: 01/22/2022 (Indianapolis)
Obituary Preview: Sean Michael Walters, age 33, of Indianapolis, IN, passed from this life on Saturday January 22, 2022.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Born on Saturday August 27, 1988, in Indianapolis to Ernest W. Walters III and Jane (Sermersheim) Walters, Sean journeyed through life leaving an impression on all he met.  He earned the highest level of trust from his friends, the deepest love from family, and the utmost respect of the communities for which he belonged.
As an active participant in the Native American Pow Wow circuit, Sean was a grass dancer, a respected pipe maker, and talented singer who had the distinct honor of sitting with top drums including Black Swamp Singers (now Blue Heron Singers), White Hawk Singers, White Horse Mountain Singers, and White Eagle Singers.  His love for Ponca songs could be felt both at the drum and as he sat alone on the back porch singing to anyone who would listen.
Combining his passion for problem solving, his remarkably skillful hands, and his love for helping others, Sean had embarked on the journey of becoming a professional locksmith.  With his honed lock picking skills and a prolific knowledge of locks, he had hoped one day to open his own locksmith business.
It was no secret, his proudest moments in life came from being a father.  While life’s circumstances intervened, he cherished the moments he got to spend with his daughter, longed to be a meaningful part of her life, and worked hard to create a future where they could be together.  His love for her is felt even after his passing.
Sean is survived by his mother, Jane Walters, his incredibly adored daughter, Adelika Walters, and his six siblings. He was preceded in death by his father Ernest W. Walters III.
A celebration of life is being planned for Summer 2022.  Details forthcoming.

What is an obituary?

An obituary is a written notice that announces the death of a person, typically including their name, age, date of birth and death, and a brief biography. It's often published in newspapers, online obituary websites, or funeral home websites to inform friends, family, and community members of the passing.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to honor and remember the deceased, while also providing important information to those who knew them. They help to notify others of the passing, share details about the funeral or memorial service, and offer a chance for loved ones to pay tribute and celebrate the person's life.

Who writes an obituary?

Typically, the family of the deceased or a close friend writes the obituary. In some cases, a funeral home or cremation service may assist with writing the obituary or provide a template for the family to use.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the person's full name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, military service (if applicable), surviving family members, and any notable achievements or hobbies. It may also include information about the funeral or memorial service.

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary depending on the publication or website. Generally, it should be concise and to the point, ranging from 100 to 500 words. Online obituaries often have more flexibility in terms of length and content.

Can I include photos in an obituary?

How do I submit an obituary to a newspaper?

Contact the newspaper's obituary department directly to inquire about their submission process and deadlines. Some newspapers may have online submission forms or email addresses where you can send the obituary.

Can I write my own obituary?
