Robert Curtis Stevens passed away peacefully at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah on April 24, 2024. He was born on November 30, 1929, to William and Emma Stevens in Ashland, Kentucky. He lived an adventurous life in his younger years, serving in the U.S. Army and working all over the country as an Ironworker. He settled in Utah in the 1970s, where he became a self-taught Locksmith and ran successful businesses in both South Salt Lake and St. George, Utah. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed watching the sport once he could no longer play himself.

Bob deeply loved his stepfamily, which he inherited from his 19-year marriage to Jeri Granger Schneider. During these years he lived in Salt Lake, Las Vegas, and St George. Together Jeri and Bob helped raise their grandson, Carl Aaron Westegaard. Not having children of his own, Bob treasured the years with young Aaron. In the late 1990s, Bob returned to Salt Lake, and stayed close to his stepsons, Gene (Teri) Schneider and Lynn (Robyn) Schneider and their families. His grandsons, Ryan, Aaron, and Brandon all held a special place in his heart, along with granddaughters Angie and Stacy.

Bob had five brothers and three sisters, which he often spoke of. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Bill Jr, Leo, and Jack, along with grandchildren Angie and Ryan Schneider. Survived by brothers, Charles, and Coulus (TK) and sisters, Dorothy, Ruth, and Mary.

The family would like to thank the Salt Lake Division of the Caregivers Support Network for the great care they provided Robert over the past two plus years. His nurses and aides were often the highlight of his day, and we are so thankful for their assistance as he finished his journey here.

Robert’s ashes will be placed at the Utah State Veterans Cemetery, accompanied by a small celebration on a date to be announced.

It is with shattered hearts that the family of Alexander Mark Seeley shares his unexpected and untimely passing.

Alex’s life was brimming with contagious enthusiasm, intense curiosity, and deep compassion. He found happiness in everyday moments and spread kindness wherever he went. At 31, he was in the prime of his life, with great ambitions and goals ahead of him. His warmth, positivity, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends made him the rock on which so many relied.

Alex was a true Renaissance soul, gifted with a multitude of talents including photography, drones, pyrotechnics, science, guitar, and music. He loved being outdoors and embarked on many adventures with family, friends, or solo. Beginning with anime, he immersed himself in learning Japanese, evidenced by a 1,376-day DuoLingo streak. Armed with his ability to speak, read, and write this complex language, Alex invited his mom to join him on a trip to Japan last fall, where they had a grand adventure exploring the beauty, food, and culture of the country.

Alex loved to cook, especially on Sundays with his Grandma Ginnie, or whenever the family was together. His specialties included salmon and asparagus, gourmet oatmeal, and elaborate salads.

From a young age, Alex dismantled anything with moving parts to see how it worked. His intellect and analytical skills led him to attain a mechanical engineering degree at the University of Utah. As a key member of the engineering team at BD Medical, Alex's contributions played a pivotal role in advancing medical device technology, impacting countless lives across the nation.

Alex was cherished for his sense of humor and infectious goofiness. He was sensitive to the down days of those he loved, and was always ready to listen and offer support. Alex was a light in dark days, and truly one of the good guys.

Alex leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever be etched in the hearts of his mother, Ameille L. Warner of Saguache, CO, his father, Alan J. Seeley of Layton, UT, his sister, Andelyn P. Czajka of Elizabeth City, NC, his half-brother, Brandon Seeley of Layton, UT, and his grandparents Virginia and Jim Burton, of Taylorsville, UT. Additionally, Alex had a wealth of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends who adored him, notably his closest friend, Sadie. Alex’s family wishes to extend their deep gratitude to Summit Vista for their remarkable kindness and generosity, and to IPS Mortuary & Crematory for their care and sensitivity during this difficult time

As we say our farewells to Alex, we find comfort in the shining memories he left us. His vibrant spirit will continue to inspire us to do better, be better, and pay attention to each day and each person in our circle of love. His short but remarkable time here made us better humans, and he will live on in our hearts every day, forever.

Rita joins her husband of 40 years, Jack Tucker, her siblings Heinz and Inga Koch, and her beloved son Robert West. Rita was born Rita Frieda Gerta Koch on November 28, 1928 in Weinhausen Abby in Celle Germany to her parents Heinrich Bernhardt Koch and Erna Marie Louise Durfeld.

Rita married her first husband, US Air Force Officer Robert West on January 19, 1957 in Verden Germany. She welcomed her first son Robert Connor West on May 5, 1958 and shortly thereafter mother and son immigrated to the United States, joining her husband in Texas. Rita’s younger son Ronald William West was born December 28, 1963.

Rita was an extraordinary woman who lived an extraordinary life. With only a 7th grade education and no support, she built a life for herself and her children working hard every day to give her sons the best opportunities she could. Rita was an accomplished antique dealer, managing her business Green Horse Antiques for 60 years. Rita loved every story that came from dealing in things that had a history. One of her favorite pastimes was sharing her own stories with her friends and family. She was a perfect reminder that everyone has a story to share and a unique history.

In 1982 Rita married her knight in shinning armor, Jack Tucker in Cloudcroft New Mexico. She spent these happy years learning to be an accomplished painter, traveling, cooking delicious meals, and spending time loving her family. She leaves behind her daughter in law Janet West, her two granddaughters Katharine Watson and Clarissa West, their spouses Raphael Watson and Graham Larson, and four great grandchildren Michael, Sarah, Teddy, and Ruby Watson.

Hyrum is survived by his parents, Roger and Darlen (Poecker) Stubbs, his siblings Kara Lopez (Chad), Joseph Stubbs (Andrea), and Samuel Stubbs (Diane), nieces Kelsey Barney, and Elizabeth Lopez, nephews Alexander Stubbs and Raymond Stubbs and cousins with whom he was very close and considered them immediately family. His life was his family.

Hyrum was born in Provo, Utah June 19, 1981. He graduated from Murray High School in 1999. He loved his work at Identity Signs and valued the friendships he had with his coworkers.

Hyrum had a big heart and a very caring nature. What we will miss the most are his amazing hugs and and his laugh.

The family would like to thank the staff of Emergency and Neuro ICU at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray for their help and compassionate profession care in Hyrum's last hours.

A celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 30 from 6 -9 p.m.

The visitation will be held at the LDS meetinghouse on 1555 West Lovely Road, Taylorsville, UT 84123 on February 29, 2024, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Valley View Memorial Park, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley, City. IPS Mortuary & Crematory will be handling the funeral arrangements.

Abe was born in Vale, Oregon, to Theron Mitchell and Cindy LaRochelle on June 5, 1982. He went to Scotland County high school in Laurinburg, NC and graduated in 2000 where he received the Sandy Nininger Award for exemplifying the spirit of service, leadership, and positive growth. He went on to earn a degree in computer science from Neumont College of Computer Science. He worked at Motorola as a computer programmer. He enjoyed tabletop gaming along with video games.

Abe is survived by his wife Yuko Yorigami of Riverton, son, Taiga; daughter, Elly; daughter, Aya; son, Kota; mother Cindy LaRochelle; brothers, Robert LaRochelle, Tom LaRochelle, Morgan Mitchell, Corey Mitchell, Theron Mitchell, Nathaniel Mitchell, Samuel Mitchell, Timothy Mitchell, and James Mitchell; sisters, Jerna Watson, Barbara Forrester, Corleneda Vogel, Melissa Mellars, Karen LaRochelle, Trudy Mitchell, Molly Krupa, Scarlett Mitchell, and Darcey Winkelkotter.

Carol was born in Salt Lake City, UT, to William (Bill) Means and Grace Williams Means on March 6, 1953.

Carol attended West High School in Salt Lake City, UT, and graduated in 1971. She married George Alan Alsop in the 1970s in Nevada, and they later had two daughters!

Carol was hardworking, dedicated, and loyal to her jobs throughout the years: Dee’s Hamburger Stand, JcPenney Co, and her most current employer, Walmart.

There’s probably no one on this earth who was a bigger Elvis fan than Carol.

Over the years, Carol loved playing bingo and bonco; the two things she got dressed up for and looked forward to.

Carol was a dedicated single mother to her two wonderful daughters; her children, grandchildren, and family were her everything.

Carol is survived by her two daughters, Kimberly (Anthony) and Alisha; her twin sisters, Linda and Brenda; her chosen siblings, Patty (Dave), Sherry, and Larry (Robin); her seven grandchildren, Makayla, Leah, Kaydence, Gigi, Jordyn, Izzy, and Harley; her son-in-law, Wayne; and her many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Carol is preceded in death by her father, William Means; her mother, Grace Means; her chosen parents, Harry Roteman, Emery Curry, and Hazel Curry; her brother, Jerry; and her chosen siblings, Linda, Jewell, and Dave.

A celebration of life will be held on March 2, 2024, at 4 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Oquirrh 6th Ward, 6673 South Clernates Drive, (5330 W), West Jordan, UT 84081.

A dinner will be served immediately following services.

Randy Edward Wright - September 28, 1968 - February 15, 2024

Randy was born September 28 1968 in Murray Utah to John and Edith Wright. He grew up in South Jordan Utah. He graduated from Bingham High School. He went on to study auto mechanics at Weber State University. He worked at Auto zone for most of his life.

Randy’s greatest joy was when his son Zachary was born. He enjoyed spending time with his son and watching him grow up.

Randy enjoyed having fun. He played baseball in his younger years. After school he and his friends would take their dogs out in the fields and go pheasant hunting. He enjoyed deer hunting with his dad and family. His greatest deer hunt was when he harvested his biggest deer in the Book Cliffs. Every Easter he went on the Moab jeep safari with his family. Until he was old enough to drive, he would take his truck or blazer on the trails. If he wasn’t in Moab he would enjoy 4 wheeling in the south hills or any place in the mud. During the winter time he enjoyed going to Yellowstone, snowmobiling with his family or when it was just him and his dad. When his son was older, he would get season tickets for them for the Jazz basketball games. He never missed a Jazz game. He even coached his son’s Jr Jazz team for a couple of years.

His fondest memories was spending time with his son. And the many family trips he took with his family, grandpa and grandma to Stanley Idaho. He said the most beautiful place on earth is Redfish lake near Stanley Idaho.

Randy is survived by his son Zachary Wright and his sister Wendy Simmons (Jason).

Randy is preceded in death by his parents John and Edith Wright.

Randy was a beloved father and brother. He always made sure his son had fun. Randy will be missed.

There will be a celebration of life for Randy. More information to come.

Funeral services will be at St. Ann Catholic Church on 5th East and 21st South on Friday, February 9, 2024. Visitation at 12pm noon, Rosary at 12:30pm and Funeral Mass at 1pm. A luncheon will follow immediately after the services in St. Ann’s cafeteria.

His dream was to own a boat and go fishing at Strawberry Reservoir every single day. He loved to cook, especially his steak, he made the best steak ever, better than anyone.

After graduating Taylorsville High School, Jordan started working in the industrial field where he was happy and worked with many friends. But he was most happy when he had a fishing rod in his hand.

He is survived by his parents Jo Smogur (Jim Mobley) and Steve Tanner, his grandparents Danuta and Henryk Smogur, Karen, and Clyde Tanner, as well as his aunt and uncle Gina and Mike Kidwell, cousins Gabe Jacoway (Hana) Aryabelle Kidwell and many other family members. As well as many friends that cared for him like a brother.

Obituary Preview: My little brother, Ryan Kenneth Trane, 52, passed away on Wednesday, 1/10/2024 after a difficult battle with Lung Cancer. Ryan was born on 9/28/1971 and grew up in Orem, Utah where he graduated from Orem High school.

He spent most of his adult life working in the construction business as a Framing Contractor and the owner of R.T. Construction. He is survived by, his son, Jake Trane, his father, Ken Trane, his sister, Kim Albers, Brother-in-law, Wade Albers and his nephews Cooper and Maddux Albers. He will join his mother, Keven Trane and little sister, Danielle Trane in heaven.

Ryan had a passion for the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman and lover of nature. Over the years, he traveled to many different states and locations in pursuit of his passion but none more perfect to him than Argyle, Utah. It was his Heaven on Earth and he loved hunting, camping, and taking in the breathtaking landscape. You could always find a smile on his face when he had a fishing pole in his hand, and nothing brought him more joy than spending time doing the things he loved with the people he loved.

If you were to ask him what he valued most on this earth, it was being a dad. His son Jake was the light of his life. Ryan had a great sense of humor, a quick wit, and a big heart. His smile could light up the room. My brother’s journey to heaven is a reminder to cherish each precious moment we have together. He was loved, he lived a life that mattered and touched many. He will forever be in our hearts.

Alberto Arturo Quiroz - June 02, 1961 - January 10, 2024

Obituary Preview: Arturo Quiroz passed away on January 10th after a long battle with cirrhosis. Born to Ofelia Rodriguez and Francisco Quiroz, on June 2, 1961, in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico.

As a teen he found the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He later served an honorable full time mission in the Monterrey, Mexico mission.

In his 20's Arturo immigrated to the United States. Later he married Charise Henderson and had two children, David Quiroz and Nathan Quiroz. A few years after their amicable divorce, he met and married Maribel Gomez. He gained another child by marriage, Yesenia Wheeler (Juarez/Quiroz), and fathered one more child, Arturo Quiroz jr. He remarried two more times, Gabriela Duerte and shortly before his passing, to Bernice Hernandez. No children were shared in either marriage.

Arturo became a very successful businessman and real estate agent. But Arturo will be most remembered for his undying service to everyone who knew him. Arturo dearly held the knowledge that to love God is to serve His children. Wherever Arturo went he was stopped by someone who knew him.

He is preceded by his parents, and dear brother Alejandro. He is survived by his sons David (Mackenzie), Nathan and Arturo. His daughter Yesenia (Jacob) and his former spouses. His grandchildren, Shilo, Havia, Mossiah, and Esther. His siblings, Francisco, Victor, Sandra, Claudia and all their respective spouses and children.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 18th at the church on 3900 S 4000 W. Viewing will begin at 5:00 PM, Funeral will be at 7:00 PM. ///

Arturo Quiroz falleció el 10 de enero en Salt Lake City después de una larga batalla con cirrosis. Hijo de Ofelia Rodríguez y Francisco Quiroz, nació el 2.º de junio del 1961. En Tampico, Tamaulipas, México.

No hubo niños en ninguno de esos dos matrimonios.

Arturo fue un exitoso empresario y agente de bienes raíces. Todos lo recordarán por su servicio a cualquiera. Se aferraba al conocimiento de que amar a nuestro prójimo es amar a Dios. A dónde iba, había siempre alguien que lo conocía.

She is survived by her loving family, her sons Andy, TJ, James and her daughter-in-law Tonya. Her brother and sisters, Hal, Faithe, Sharon, Sharlean, and Marie. She has 7 grandkids and 4 great grand kids. She has recently found a new love with James.

In the last 4 months Carroll has battled multiple heart surgeries, pneumonia, throat surgery, and C.O.P.D. She put up a good fight, but her body could not handle any more. Even though she will be loved and missed, she is in a better place. WE LOVE YOU MOM!!!! Celebration of life will be held Saturday January 13, 2024 at: 2370 S. Debra was born in Salt Lake City to Jim and Donna Symes. She was sandwiched between an older brother and three younger sisters. As only a middle child can be, she grew resolute, occasionally stubborn, and extremely tough. Her stalwart personality would serve her well and strengthen her through life’s challenges. On October 3, 1975, Debra married her lifetime sweet heart, Arden Richard McGee, in the Provo Temple. They were blessed with eight children, 22 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Debra loved caring for these little ones. They were the source of her joy!

Debra was an exemplary, talented quilter. She has left behind a plethora of intricate quilts, along with a considerable hoard of fabric for her family to enjoy. Whatever happens in life, we will always be warm, wrapped in a quilt from Deb.

She was an avid reader and reveled in her large collection of books. Day and night she was often found with a book in hand. There was even a time when Deb and Richard owned a bookstore, Books, Etc., sharing her love of literature with the surrounding community.

Debra was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her conviction in the reality of her Savior and His love for her buoyed her as she faced many health challenges over the years.

Some of Deb’s final moments were spent with warm embraces from her loving family. She spent those moments giving directions, “Take care of my babies. Take care of your siblings. Take care of each other.” Even on death’s door she was watching over us, loving us, caring for us more so than caring for herself, concerned for our well-being more so than having concern for the grand adventure she was about to face. An unprecedented hole is left in our family but we know that Mom will continue watching over us, loving us, and caring for us even from the other side.

Debra leaves behind eight children, Colleen (Wells), Lori, Stephanie, Trevor (Josephine), Brayten (Stephanie), Amanda, Jacqulyn, and Ashley (Jason), 22 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard McGee, her father, James Symes, her sister Synthia Jensen, and two of her grandchildren Gabriel McGee and Wyatt McGee. We are comforted in the thought of their joyous reunion.

Jim is survived by his sister Marie Frampton, daughters Kelly Black (Christian), and Crisna Beck (Christopher), sons Michael Scott Rogers, and Kerry Rogers, many loving grandchildren, and extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents Harold F Beck and Iris Berry Beck, the love of his life, Betty Beck, sisters Shanna Jenson, and Peggy Kosel, brother Herbert (Bert) Beck, and son Bradley Wade Rogers. Jim was a loving brother, father, husband, grandfather, and friend to everyone.

Jim was born in Salt Lake City Utah and soon after his family moved to Cedar City. It was at a young age Jim left home and moved to Beryl Utah where he found a father figure and mentor, Joseph (Joe) Delvecchio who gave him love, structure, and lessons to last a lifetime. After nine years of raising cattle and working the farm with Joe, Jim moved to Ogden Utah near “Two Bit Street” and he enlisted in the Military. His career there was short but Jim loved his experience and throughout the rest of his days he would share personal stories and talk about military history. Jim’s later career was spent working at Dugway Proving Grounds and Tooele Army Depot from which he retired. His retirement was spent hand-in-hand with the love of his life, Betty. Jim was looking forward to that reunion.

Jim loved the extended family he had through his marriage to Betty, he would look forward with great anticipation to each phone call and visit and he was always excited to let us know how much he enjoyed their company. For the last ten years, Jim resided in Salt Lake City where he developed a great love for his neighbors, Kelly and Kathy. The time spent with them was very precious to him and he was extremely grateful for the blessing they were in his life.

A special thanks to the people at Applegate Home Health Care for their loving care and support during his final days. Also, the family would like to extend their gratitude to IPS Crematory for being very accommodating and understanding during this difficult time.

Jim stated that he did not want any viewing or funeral services so we will honor his request. There will be a military honor graveside at Tooele City Cemetery 361 S 100 E, Nov 9th at 11 a.m.

She was an in-court clerk for 30 years at the 5th circuit court in Murray, Utah. She had the opportunity to work for many respectable judges. There were too many to name all of them, but her two favorite were Judge Griffiths and Judge Burton. She had many wonderful friends throughout the judicial system.

She loved to go fishing at Smith and Morehouse, hunting, golfing, gardening, cooking, entertaining friends and family and her beautiful home in Oakley, Utah.

She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Burgess Mackert; Her grandson, Zackery (Malory) Mackert; Granddaughters: Megan (Daniel) Nuttall, Mindy (Addison) Shuppy; Greatgrandchildren: Tyler Nuttall, Vada Mackert. Evey Hayden Mawson, Gage Clawson and Ian Shuppy.

Preceded in death by her son, Brad R Burgess, and late husband, Vance P Beal.

Family and friends got to spend the last hours of her life sharing all the wonderful memories they had with her.

Phyllis was an outstanding mother to her eight children. She was known for her remarkable strength, independence, and unwavering determination, all of which paved the way for her success in life. She retired from Key Bank, where she worked for over 25 years and was known for her exceptional skills and commitment. Every Saturday, Phyllis cherished the tradition of going shopping and “getting a bite to eat” with her daughter. She also enjoyed activities like fishing, camping, bike riding, traveling, spending time in the great outdoors, and embarking on exciting trips to Wendover with family and friends. She loved her family deeply, cherished the simple joys in life, like a good cup of coffee to go alongside her cookies, and held a deep reverence for the Lord. The love carried by her for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was truly remarkable. She spread joy and warmth to all of those around her. Whenever Phyllis encountered something unexpected, she was recognized by a phrase that often graced her lips, "Oh for hells sakes", accompanied by her infectious laugh and a twinkle in her eye.

Phyllis is survived by her children, Robert Highland (Jackie), Georgia McKee (George), Toby Salazar (Beverley), David Salazar, daughter-in-law, Colleen Salazar, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a wide circle of family and friends, all who will forever cherish the memories and the love shared with her. She is preceded in death by her ex-husband, Kay Highland; her husbands, Lou Salazar and Gene Perry; her sons, Mike Salazar, Rick Highland, Steve Highland and Luis Salazar; her mother, father, and many others.

We want to thank Cottonwood Creek Assisted Living for their exceptional and loving care they showed Phyllis in her last months.

Melinda will be missed by her parents and six younger siblings: Sharon (David), Silvia (Riley), Nephi (Liz), Gloria, Lehi and Jacob; two nephews, six nieces and her many uncles, aunts, and cousins.

A visitation will be Monday, November 6th from 5:00 pm– 7:00 pm at the IPS Mortuary at 4555 S. Redwood Road. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 7th at 11am at the church at 4986 S. Valois Drive, Taylorsville. There will also be a time to visit from 10:00am – 10:45 am before the service.
