Aubrey Dean Boudreaux - February 08, 1955 - January 09, 2024

Departed: 01/09/2024 (Patterson)
Obituary Preview: Aubrey Dean Boudreaux, affectionately known as Papa Dean, passed away at the age of 68 in the late evening hours of Tuesday, January 9, 2024 following a hard fought battle with cancer.
Dean was born in Morgan City on February 8, 1955 and was the sixth of seven children born to the union of Carbet and Ethel Boudreaux. On September 1, 1973 he married the love of his life, Bonnita Thibodeaux. Bring on the Boudreaux Thibodeaux jokes! What wasn’t a joke though was their love, a marriage that stood the test of time, living out their marriage vows, for richer or poorer, in good times and bad times, in sickness and in health, till death do us part.
To know him was to love him. A generous man with a heart of gold, he set a high mark to those around him of what it is to love your neighbor. Known for his charitable nature, whether it was organizing a benefit or providing a meal, he was sure to step up to the plate and offer whatever he could for someone in need. He was truly a man of many passions. Being a music fanatic, Dean could name just about any song and could recite music lyrics like a supercomputer. He was a motorcycle enthusiast, an animal lover who raised American Bullies, a tech-junkie, and a prankster who loved to put a smile on the faces of those near and dear to him. He had a love for the outdoors and spent his entire working career on the water, retiring as a boat captain over 30 years ago. Dean was also an amazing cook and was known far and wide for his delectable desserts. But above all these qualities it was evident that his family was beyond a doubt his ultimate joy in life. He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to have crossed paths with him in this thing we call life.
His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his loving wife of 50 years, Bonnita Thibodeaux Boudreaux; their three children, Keven Dean Boudreaux and his wife Tanya, Kandy Michelle Boudreaux, and Chad Lee Boudreaux and his wife Demetria; twelve grandchildren, Kayla Boudreaux Aucoin and her husband Devin, Chase Boudreaux and his wife Stacy, Kailani Boudreaux, Aolani Tyler, Kyree Tankersley, Zayne Boudreaux, Leilani Boudreaux Duffy, Bryanna Boudreaux Mogenson, Kaiden Adams, Aubrey McKenzie Boudreaux, Kaylee Boudreaux, and Shemar Moore; five great grandchildren, Ryut Aucoin, Rylan Aucoin, McKinley Simon, Havyn Boudreaux, Aurora Boudreaux, and Riley Humphries; daughter-in-law, Michelle Ratcliff; son-in-law, Monte Davis; three siblings, Carbet Jay Boudreaux and his wife Sharon, Sandra Bergeron, and Ricky Boudreaux and his wife Suzanne; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Boudreaux, Kim Fuselier, Sharon Tabor Boudreaux, and Betty Boudreaux; his fur-babies, Sparky and Diamond; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carbet Joseph Boudreaux and Ethel Ratcliff Boudreaux; three siblings, Robert Boudreaux, Carl Boudreaux, and Brenda Christensen; sisters-in-law, Jackie Sampey and Jeanine Montgomery; and brothers-in-law, Keray Thibodeaux, Richard Thibodeaux, Russell Bergeron, and Bobby Waters.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Ibert’s Mortuary in Patterson at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM. Following the services he will be laid to rest in Ibert’s Memorial Park Cemetery. Bro. Keith Tayloe will conduct the services. Luke Joseph Guillot - April 16, 1989 - December 16, 2023

Departed: 12/16/2023 (Patterson)
Obituary Preview: It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Luke Joseph Guillot, a former longtime resident of Bayou Vista, who passed away as the result of an automobile accident on Saturday, December 16, 2023, in Huntsville, AL, where he was recently residing for work.
Luke was born in Morgan City on April 16, 1989 and was the eldest of three sons born to Joe and Jenny Guillot. He worked in the Commercial Construction Industry and was currently employed as a Superintendent with Impetus, a job he truly loved which kept him on the move. Luke was the epitome of what a friend should be. No matter what the circumstance, he could be counted on to be there. His charismatic personality exuded joy and a soaring spirit, living life to the fullest in his all too brief 34 years. Luke was always up for an adventure with family and friends. Those who knew him best will remember him with a deep fondness, not only for all of the goofy laughs, horrible jokes and even worse dance moves, but especially for the love he shared and his contagious spontaneity. This side of eternity is a lesser place without his light in it. He will be deeply missed by all.
Those Luke leaves to cherish his memory include his parents, Galen "Joe" Guillot and Jenny Winchester Guillot; his brothers, Adam Reed Guillot and his wife Mackenzie and Eric Matthew Guillot; his nephew, Reed Michael Guillot; his niece and godchild, Marilyn Elizabeth Guillot; his paternal grandfather, Beverly Guidry and his wife Ranette; four uncles, Lloyd Guillot Jr. and his wife Karen, Shelby Guillot and his wife Judy, Coy Winchester, and Dancy Winchester; four aunts, Bonnie McManus, Cindy LeBlanc (his godmother) and her husband Bill, Carmen Hebert and her husband Jacque, and Erin Guidry; as well as a host of cousins, extended family, and dear friends.

What is an obituary?

An obituary is a written notice that announces the death of a person, typically including their name, age, date of birth and death, and a brief biography. It's usually published in a newspaper, online obituary platform, or funeral home website to inform friends, family, and acquaintances of the person's passing.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to honor and celebrate the life of the deceased, while also providing essential information for those who want to pay their respects. They help notify people of the person's passing, share details about their life, and provide information about funeral services and memorial donations.

Who writes an obituary?

Typically, the family of the deceased or a close friend writes the obituary. Funeral homes or online obituary platforms may also offer assistance with writing and publishing the obituary.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the person's full name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, military service, hobbies, achievements, and surviving family members. You may also include information about funeral services, memorial donations, and any other relevant details.

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary depending on the publication or platform. Generally, it's recommended to keep it concise and focused on the most important information. Aim for around 150-200 words.

Can I include photos in an obituary?

Yes, many online obituary platforms and some newspapers allow you to include one or more photos of the deceased. This can be a nice way to personalize the obituary and help people remember the person.

How do I submit an obituary to a newspaper?

Contact the newspaper's obituary department directly to inquire about their submission process and guidelines. Some newspapers may have online submission forms or email addresses where you can send the obituary.

What is the cost of publishing an obituary in a newspaper?

The cost varies depending on the newspaper and its circulation. Expect to pay anywhere from $50 to several hundred dollars for a print publication. Online obituary platforms often offer free or low-cost options.

Can I write my own obituary before I pass away?

Yes, some people choose to write their own obituary in advance as a way to control how they're remembered and to make it easier for their loved ones. This is often referred to as a "self-written" or "pre-written" obituary.

How long does it take for an obituary to be published?

The timeframe varies depending on the publication or platform. For newspapers, it's usually within 1-3 days after submission. Online obituary platforms often publish immediately or within a few hours.
