MARIE E. MESSIER - Unknown - April 20, 2022

Departed: 04/20/2022 (Coventry)
Obituary Preview: Marie Elizabeth (Autotte) Messier died peacefully on April 20th 2022 surrounded by her family. As her 4 year old grandson said, “She joined God in the rainbows”. Marie left this earth in her home looking out the window onto her garden and watching the waterfalls that she loved so much. Marie was the daughter of the late Pauline and Herve (Mike) Autotte and sister, Charlotte Corp.  She leaves behind her husband Norman, her children Jane and Jon, daughter-in-law Cory, son-in-law Daniel, and her five grandsons Max (15), Miles(12), Lucas(10), Nathyn (4) and Jack (2). In addition, she leaves her best friend, guardian angel, and sister Cheryl along with so many other friends that she would say were like sisters.
Marie and Norman were married for 52 years. They grew up in Coventry, and found their forever home on a small lake surrounded by woods. Together they owned over 100 properties, 50 cars, and built a life filled with joy and adventure.
Marie was the type of mom that deeply loved her family. She showed  her love in everything she did and said. She spoke proudly about her children and was quick to show pictures of her grandchildren if you expressed a hint of interest. She was the grandma who, without hesitation, packed her bags and moved to Minnesota so her grandsons wouldn’t have to go to daycare. Six years later she moved to Maine to be with her two newest grandsons.
Marie retired after over 30 years from Windsor Hill Elementary School in Johnston. She fondly remembered the students she taught and the friendships she made. When asked if she ever considered another profession, she quickly replied “No, I was always meant to be a teacher”.
On beautiful days Marie would be found outside building fires, gardening in her yard or painting her long wooden fence that always seemed to need repair.
Marie loved fires. The bigger the better. She was on a first name basis with the Coventry fire department because she called every weekend for a fire permit.
Marie was the first one to volunteer to help you paint the walls of your house and she happily accepted a trip to the casino as a payment.
Marie was a devoted bestfriend and she leaves several memories filled with laughter and wine. “How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”—Winnie the Pooh
Relatives and friends are invited to gather for a procession at the main entrance of Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, 301 South Country Trail, Exeter on the morning of Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 9:45 AM for Marie’s Committal Service, which is scheduled for 10:00 AM in the chapel. Funeral home staff will be present to assist with parking. Following Marie’s service, Celebration of Life will be held at the Coventry Memorial VFW, 29 South Main St., Coventry.

With a caring heart and the desire to help others, George would often use his skills to fix and maintain electronics for his friends and family while expecting nothing in return.
While living in Bristol, George resided on the route of the Bristol Fourth of July Parade where he would host an annual barbecue for friends and family, a tradition that continued for many years. He had a very sharp wit and was often the first one to provide the correct “questions” when watching the TV show Jeopardy.
George is survived by his sister Lois Sims and her husband Larry as well as countless cousins and extended family members.
Services for George will be held privately.

Why are obituaries important?
