Kenneth E Cook - December 21, 1932 - March 07, 2022

Departed: 03/07/2022 (Marble Hill)
Obituary Preview: Our world feels emptier now since the angels led our beloved father, Kenneth E. Cook, to his great reward in heavenly glory on March 7, 2022.  His earthly body was 89 years, 2 months, and 14 days old.
He was his children’s best friend.  Kenneth was wise, kind and gentle above all others.  He had an amazing sense of humor. He often told his 4 children to live a good Christian life, so the preacher wouldn’t have to lie at your funeral. Kenneth was born to Robert L. and Mary J (Hanners) Cook on December 21, 1932, the last of nine children. His mother taught all her children to love the lord and the power of prayer.  She would take them to hear the word of God in church anytime the doors were open.  In addition to being in church, his father was a Southern Baptist preacher and founder of County Line Baptist Church in Bollinger County, Missouri.  Kenneth said he was blessed to have parents like that and went on, himself, to become a Deacon in the church.'
As a graduate fresh out of Lutesville High School, he tried his hand at farming.  His first effort was to put out a crop of corn in a creek bottom at Gravel Hill.  That summer the drought ravished the fields.  Come the fall, Kenneth and his mother picked the crop.  Unfortunately, there wasn’t enough gathered to pay the seed bill.  Kenneth decided he needed to get a public job so he could afford to be a “farmer”. Later in life, Kenneth was asked what he would do with a large inheritance.  He stated he would farm with it until it was gone.
At the age of 18, he joined the International Association of Operative Plasterers and Cement Mason and was a lifelong member of the Local 908 Union.  He would finish concrete to the ripe old age of 87.
Kenneth kept farming on his land he bought for the family.  Eventually, he began raising livestock and changed the farming to grow hay for the animals.  His true love was raising, working, and riding horses.  He often spoke that as a young boy he couldn’t afford a horse so he would ride the family milk cow for pleasure.  As he grew older and had a few coins in his pocket, he became horse poor (a lot too many horses).  He enjoyed riding with his friends, the Ever-Ready Riders, who named Kenneth “Mountain Man”.  The exploits of the Ever-Ready Riders including Mountain Man were immortalized in the weekly write up published in the Bollinger County newspaper, The Banner Press.
Kenneth’s work took him and his new wife, Dorothy J. Lincoln, first to Kentucky and then to Texas where they were blessed with the first-born child, precious baby girl Catherine (Dwight) Craft of Jackson.  Moving on to Arizona for a few years, the family grew by two.  A fine baby boy Joe (Brenda Thiele) Cook of Cape Girardeau and a beautiful baby girl Sue (Rick Matthews) Bohnsack who later returned to her birth state to reside in Prescott Valley, Arizona.  Finally, back in Missouri, God ordained the entire family with a wonderful angelic blessing with youngest baby boy Tony (Lisa) Cook of Crump, MO.
Kenneth leaves his family including his four children, six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and many, many family and friends to mourn his departure with sadness and sorrow.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, ten siblings, several nephews and a grandson, Jacob Cook.
Kenneth was laid to rest on Monday March 14, 2022, at County Line’s Lesley Ridge Cemetery in Bollinger County.  One of the Ever-Ready Riders, Dr. John Englehart, officiated.
As we say our goodbyes, we know Kenneth is cutting out an Appaloosa stallion that is part of God’s remuda.  He is riding on the endless trails and streets of gold, to the snow topped mountains in heaven.  Happy trails once again, Dad.
Memorials may be sent to County Line Baptist Church, 22925 BCR 312, Marble Hill, MO 63764. Hutchings Funeral Chapel is assisting.

Dorothy J Wilson - May 31, 1934 - February 12, 2022

Departed: 02/12/2022 (Marble Hill)
Obituary Preview: The death angel visited our home on Saturday, February 12, 2022, and called away our dear mother, Dorothy J. Wilson.  She was 87 years, eight months, one week and five days old.
She left this sinful world to go to a mansion in Glory where parting is no more.  Weep not, dear friends, but let us all live so that we will be prepared to meet her at the gates of eternity.
Think not of Dorothy in her bed of clay but, rather, resting in the arms of Jesus.  Indeed, it is hard to give her up, but the Lord’s will be done, not ours.
Dorothy was born May 31, 1934, to William E. Ray Lincoln and Dorris S. Neilson Lincoln in Bollinger County, Lawrence Township, Missouri.  Dorothy was the apple of her Daddy’s eye and her Momma’s little girl.  Dorothy had married Kenneth E. Cook on May  31, 1952.  To this happy union were born four children.  The eldest of these is Catherine (Dwight) Craft of Jackson, Missouri.  Next came Joe Cook (Brenda Thiele) of Cape Girardeau and another daughter Sue Bohnsack (Rick Matthews) of Prescott Valley, Arizona.  The best was saved for last; a loving son Tony (Lisa) Cook of Crump, Missouri.
Dorothy later married Robert O. Wilson on  October 17, 1987, who preceded her in death on August 25, 2014.
Our mother was fearless and fun, exciting, and had a temper like lightning and thunder, followed by calm, and  a good friend.    To some, a mean heifer; to others, one either liked mom, or one didn:t.  One knew where one stood -- even those sparred with admired her spunk and tenacity. She tackled everything that came her way with gusto and flamboyance.  When she walked into the room everyone took notice of her.
She was always the first to the poles on election day to cast her ballet for the Democrat.  She was dyed-in-the-wool Democrat.  Her motto was vote early and vote often. We are sure she will continue to vote from the grave.
She was a member of the County Line Baptist Church and was part of a missionary team in Haiti for a time.  In her forties she returned to school and attained her nursing degree.  She was the top of her class at the School of Nursing.  She took the education attained and worked at Southeast Hospital for numerous years.  She advanced to be the Operating Room Surgeon Assistant and more notably worked side by side with top notch cardiologists and orthopedics.  Dorothy was well respected in her field.  It was one of her greatest loves.  Dorothy would often regale the family with stories of the OR.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, infant twin sisters, and one brother William R. Lincoln and his spouse, Shelba J. Lincoln.  She also was preceded in death by one grandson, Jacob Cook.
Dorothy leaves six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends to mourn her departure with sadness and sorrow.  We know she has been received into the bosoms of her family departed before her.
Mother requested there be no formal service, so a private grave side service will be held. Memorials may be given to County Line Baptist Church 22925 BCR 312, Marble Hill, MO 63764.  Hutchings Funeral Chapel is assisting.
