He was born June 27, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Earnie and Irene (Choate) Younger. Dennis married Mary (Passmore) Younger on August 1, 1984 in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
In addition to his beloved wife of nearly forty years, Dennis is survived by his mother-in-law, Shirley Passmore; sons, David Younger and wife, Lana of Benton, Derick Younger and wife, Britni of Benton, Patrick Dulaney and fiancée, Justina Echols of Mount Vernon, and Elijah Younger and fiancée, Christy Foster of Johnston City; daughters, Dawn Younger of Alton, Illinois, Amber Hiltz and husband, Jon of Marion, Illinois, and Ashleigh McCormick and husband, Kristopher of Wayne City; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Ronald Younger and wife, Kathy of Sesser and Danny Younger and wife, Veronica of Benton; sister, Brenda Fairchild and husband, Bob of Harrisburg, Illinois; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by his four brothers; two sisters; two twin infant sisters; nephew; niece; and father-in-law.

Vernon, Illinois to Raymond "Ray" Lipe and Jewel (Kissel) Lipe. David married Catherine "Cathy" Taylor on June 27, 1970 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois and she preceded him in death on January 12, 2023.
David is survived by Son, Jason Lipe and Mary Hoyt of Kell, Illinois; Daughter, Staci Lipe and special friend Jason Hayes of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; Grandson, Grant Tobin of Waltonville and fiancee Shayla Sanders; brother-in-law, Dan Taylor and wife Tina of Arlington, Texas.
David was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
David retired as the parts manager for Rush Truck Center formerly Effingham Truck Sales. David was of the Baptist faith and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

In addition to her beloved husband of thirty-one years, Kathy is survived by her mother, Carol Hill of Mount Vernon; sons, Caleb Myers and wife, Dacoda and Nathaniel Myers, all of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Alesana and Atticus; siblings, Tom Hill and wife, Paula of Ewing, Illinois, Doug Hill of Mount Vernon, Dean Hill and wife, Becky of Opdyke, Linda Ross and husband, Scott of Woodlawn; mother-in-law, Janet Myers of Mount Vernon; brothers-in-law, Brian Myers and wife, Connie of Lake Villa, Illinois and Jeff Myers and wife, Robyn of Glenarm, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Chester Hill; sister-in-law, Nancy Hill; and father-in-law, Larry Myers.
Kathy loved being outdoors, especially the beach and ocean. She was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. Above all, Kathy loved spending time with her family and friends and loved her beloved dog, Jackson.

He was born March 30, 1971 in Granite City, Illinois to the late John R. Hunsell and Elaine Rae (Lewis) Hunsell Hutchinson. Jacob married Lorie (Taylor) Hunsell on June 3, 1995.
In addition to his wife of nearly twenty-nine years, Jacob is survived by grandson, Jacob Aaron Hunsell and mother, Darcey Ross of Woodlawn; mother-in-law, Kathy Taylor of Mount Vernon; brothers, John Hunsell and wife, Cheryl of Woodlawn, Ted Hunsell and friend, Cindy of Bluford, and Ben Hunsell and wife, Melissa of Rolla, Missouri; sisters, Mary Lou Hunsell of Edwardsville, Illinois, Susan Long and husband, Jerry of Waltonville, Beth Snyder and husband, Jay of Waltonville, Illinois, Sally McCowen of Waltonville, and Angela Kirkpatrick and husband, Kenny of Waltonville; sister-in-law, Mary Dial and husband, Monty of Mount Vernon; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends who were like family.
In addition to his parents, Jacob was preceded in death by his son, Jacob "Jake" Abraham Hunsell, II; sisters-in-law, Becky Vohlken-Hunsell and Cheryl Hunsell; father-in-law, Charles Taylor; sister, Dawn Hunsell; brother, Tom Hunsell; step father, Bill Hutchinson; and nephew, Kyle Price.
Jacob was a master metal craftsman and co-founder at Hunsell Brothers Construction. He was a member of the Mount Vernon Gun and Sportsman's Club, NRA, Ducks Unlimited, and Friends of the NRA. Jacob enjoyed spending time in his Dog House and hosting gatherings for his family and friends. He loved to fish, hunt, woodwork, leather work, and was an incredibly talented artist and craftsman. Jacob was a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers Football fan and was famous for his carved Mushroom Walking Sticks.
A Visitation will be held Monday, May 6, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville, Illinois. The family will host a Celebration of Life at a later date. She was born June 23, 1927 in rural Waltonville, Illinois, the eldest of three sisters, to the late J. Norris and Carrie (Shelton) Baker. Betty married Eugene "Gene" Wells April 27, 1946 in Mount Vernon and had two daughters, Cathy and Janice. He preceded her in death on January 15, 2011.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Catheryn Stanford and husband, Eugene of Woodlawn, Illinois and Janice M. Senftleber of Bellaire, Texas; grandchildren, David Senftleber and wife, Jennifer of Houston, Texas, Gene Stanford and wife, Emily of Estero, Florida, Michael Senftleber and wife, Katherine of Driftwood, Texas, Ryan Stanford and wife, Trisha of Waltonville, Samantha Stanford of Mount Vernon, and Amy Senftleber-Makodoulos and husband, Pete of Fulshear, Texas; great-grandchildren, Colin Senftleber, Isabella Stanford, Lily Stanford, Isaac Senftleber, Aaron Senftleber, Claire Senftleber, Vivenne Stanford, Thomas Senftleber, Luke Stanford, Wyatt Stanford, Ruby Stanford, and Milo Makopoulos-Senftleber.
In addition to her parents and husband of 64 years, Betty was preceded in death by her sisters, Marilyn Irvin and Patsy McAddo.
Betty attended secretarial college in St. Louis and returned to work in Mt. Vernon at  J.P. Devine train car manufacturing. Betty also worked at the Jefferson County Treasurer’s Office before becoming a school teacher at Campground School in 1954. She went on to Summersville Grade School where she retired in 1984.  During this time, she continued her own education, earning her Master’s and Specialist’s Degrees in Education.  Later in life she audited summer sessions at Oxford and Cambridge Universities in England.  Betty was a prolific artist with her paintings, stained glass, and counted cross-stitch.  She was an avid reader her whole life and a world traveler that visited over 100 countries.  Betty co-owned Tel Aviv Farms and Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens with her husband.  She served on multiple community boards, including the Rend Lake Conservatory District Board.  She was a member of many community organizations including Cedarhurst Center for Arts, the Jefferson County Historical Society, and Delta Theta Tau Philanthropic Sorority. She took real joy in her daughters, 6 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren’s busy lives and success stories. She will be greatly missed by family and friends alike.
A Visitation will be held Friday, May 3, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Newell Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Newell Funeral Home with Mr. Howard Kraps officiating. Entombment will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn. Tim is survived by his son, Quentin Metje of Opdyke, Illinois; brother, Roger Alan Metje and wife, Deanna of Mount Vernon; nieces and nephews, Kristen Rollie and husband, Lucas of Woodlawn, Jarred Metje and wife, Alex of Mount Vernon, and Michaela Taylor and husband, Richard of Saint Louis, Missouri; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Bowen Rollie and Baylor Rollie, both of Woodlawn, and Avery Metje and Stevie Metje, both of Mount Vernon; uncle, Jim Anderson and wife Wilma of Mount Vernon, Illinois; aunt, Linda Allison of Nason, Illinois; and several cousins also survive.
In addition to his parents, Tim was preceded in death by his sister, Lynn Burwell.
Tim loved to fish. He also enjoyed building street cars and hot rods. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

She was born February 27, 1938 in Sims, Illinois, to the late Alfred and Vera (Robertson) Baker. Mimi married John Orville Jones on August 1, 1964, at Central Christian Church in Mount Vernon. They were blessed with nearly 60 years of marriage.
In addition to her beloved husband, Mimi is survived by her daughter, Natalie and Robert Potochney of Thonotosassa, Florida; son, Aaron and Kimberly Jones of Bluford, Illinois; grandchildren, Rob and Jessica Potochney of Crawfordville, Florida, Eric and Christy Potochney of Lake Wales, Florida, Kirstie and Matt Hooten of Fort Worth, Texas, Karin and John Pace of Woodlawn, Illinois, and Kamillia and Isaac Lowery of Bluford, Illinois; twelve great-grandchildren; siblings, Caroline and Charles Johnson of Morris, Illinois, Homer Baker of Mount Vernon, and Rhonda and Danny West of Oakland, Illinois; sister-in-law, Kay and Jim Ellis of Henderson, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mimi was preceded in death by her brother, James Layton Baker; sister, Helen Lorraine Tripp; father-in-law, Orville Ray Jones; mother-in-law, Nora Christine Minor and husband, Estel "Peck" Minor, the father who raised John; and siblings-in-law, Doris Baker and Sidney Tripp.
Mimi was an elementary school teacher and taught Kindergarten at Bluford Grade School for many years. She is a lifetime member of Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary Teachers Society. While living in Illinois, Mimi was a part of the Sigma Chapter and since moving to Florida, she is now a part of the Gamma Zeta Chapter. Recently, she became a Golden Sister. Mimi was greatly loved and will be missed by those who knew and adored her.

In addition to his beloved wife of thirty-nine years, Kenneth is survived by his children, Chris Junkins and wife, Jennifer of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Wil Nelson and partner, Missy of Owensboro, Kentucky, Josh Nelson of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, and Molly Landesman and husband, Benjamin of Mount Vernon, Illinois; grandchildren, Abel Nelson, Silas Nelson, Lennon Nelson, Luna Landesman, Daisy Landesman, and Walter Landesman; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Nelson was the owner and operator of Electronic Architechs in Mount Vernon. He was a member of Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed tinkering in his shop. Above all, Kenneth loved his family and his Lord and will be greatly missed.

Ronnie is survived by his siblings, Eddie Henson, Marie Garner, and Brenda Atchison and husband, Jim; son, Jarrod Henson; several nieces and nephews, including special nieces, Angel Rector and Brandi Witzel; special friend, Carolyn Patterson-Overturf; and his fur baby and beloved companion, Oscar.
In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by his brothers, Mike McDoneld, Brad Henson, and Billy Henson; best friend, Charlie Patterson; and nephew, William Henson.
Ronnie spent most of his adult life working as a chef. His last 15 years working were at Ryan's Steakhouse. He was very proud of being a chef. Ronnie enjoyed hanging out with his friends at the Hideout. He was dearly loved by his friends and family.

Wayne was the owner and operator of Wayne's Marathon for many years. He was a member of Logan Street Baptist Church and found joy in hunting and fishing. Wayne was a Saint Louis Cardinals fan. He greatly enjoyed watching his grandchildren play various sports. He was also a youth baseball coach. Wayne was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be deeply missed.
Per his wishes, Wayne will be cremated. A Private Family Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made in Wayne's honor to the Jefferson County Animal Shelter.

She was born on August 13, 1946 to Vern and Nola Hamson in Belle Rive. She married William Franklin Wilson on December 22, 1963. They were blessed with sixty years of marriage before he preceded her in death on April 8, 2024.
Phyllis is survived by two sons, Todd Wilson of Irvington, Illinois and Doug Wilson and wife, Denise of Mount Vernon, Illinois; seven grandkids; four great-grandchildren plus one on the way; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and sister, Vivian Scott.
In addition to her parents and husband, Phyllis was preceded in death by her siblings, Dennis Hamson, Paul Ward Hamson, Elmer Hamson, and Kathryn Pierce.
Phyllis loved watching children at church and at home. She also enjoyed sewing. Phyllis was a pitcher for a softball league. She will be dearly missed.

Vernon, Illinois at 12:35 AM,  April 17, 2024.  As a young boy, he was nicknamed "Smokey" because it was said that he could really "smoke" the golf ball and throughout his life, golf has remained his passion.
He was born June 6, 1951 in Mt. Vernon, IIlinois to the late Harold Franklin and Ella Mae (Cox) Lowery. "Smoke" married Kathy (Collins) Lowery on November 29, 2003. Smokey is survived by his longtime love, Kathy, his wife of over twenty years, his stepson, Jeffrey Ross Wimberly of Miami Beach, Florida, stepdaughter Leighann Collins Wimberly of DuQuoin, Illinois, treasured sister-in-law Rebecca Collins Schmitt,( Dr. Steve), nephews Paul and Reed Schmitt and niece Amy Hallinan, sister Rebecca Blackward Grothoff of Mt. Vernon, lIlinois; niece Vanessa Blackward Shaw, great niece Tori Shaw, great nephew Tanner Shaw all of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, stepsister Barbara Brake (Richard) of Marion, lIlinois, stepbrother Gordon Page (Patty) of Dahlgren, IIlinois, cousins Marguerite Moore Koland of Iowa City, Iowa, Marjorie Hollingsworth of Marionville, Missouri, Gene Foreman of Waltonville, IIlinois. Predeceased by parents listed earlier and stepmother Emeral (Page) Lowery, nephew Adam Blackward, brothers-in -law Jerry Blackward and Paul Grothoff, father-in-law and mother-in-law Floyd and Frances Collins.
Mr. Lowery worked for WC Alexander Wholesale for many years and retired as a waste water treatment operator for the City of Mt. Vernon ( formerly EMC). He was a member of the Elks, and the Moose Lodges of Mt. Vernon and a member of Green Hills, Indian Hills and Greenview Golf Clubs. Smokey rarely met a stranger anywhere he went and will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois on April 21, 2024 from 12 -2 PM followed by the funeral service at 2 PM. Internment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Smokey's honor to MVTHS Boys and Girls Golf or Centralia Humane Society, from which Maggie Mae, the family dog, was rescued.

Janith was an avid Saint Louis Cardinals baseball fan. She enjoyed quilting and embroidering. Janith loved working with her many flower gardens and had a special love for several different iris flowers. She was a member of Marlow General Baptist Church. Janith was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by those and loved and knew her.

Shirley worked at Jovac in North Aurora for many years. In 1999, Shirley moved back to Wayne City with her husband, Fred. Shirley was always a natural caregiver, and spent most of her life looking after her extended family in so many ways. She enjoyed quilting and cooking, especially for her family. Shirley was a classy but feisty lady who loved fiercely with all her heart. Her greatest joy in life was being a grandmother and spending time with her great-grandchildren.
Shirley leaves behind two sons, Roger (Valerie) Patterson and Gary Patterson; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Patterson; three sisters, Melba Kissner, Joan (Bill) Braddy Shelby (Ron) LeDuc; many grandchildren, including, Jason (Erin) Patterson, Christina (Hector) Garibay, Ashley Patterson, Kyle Patterson, Rebecca Rocco, and Jessica (Brandon) Baird; many great-grandchildren, including Shelbi, Sienna, and Samuel Patterson, Jeremiah and Jaxson Garibay, Alexandria Rocco, Alexis Johnson, Holly (Bill) Whitlock, Alison and Philip Baird, and great-great-grandchildren, Karsyn and Lennox Whitlock. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Docia and Clyne Rapp; step mother, Hattie Rapp; husband and love of her life, Fred A. Shelton; sister, Eleanor R. Purdy; brother, Jim Rapp; brother-in-law, Roy Kissner; eldest son, James Steven Patterson; two grandsons, Jeremiah Joshua Patterson and Richard D. Johnson.
Shirley will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Stonebridge Memory Care in Mount Vernon for their generous support and care of Shirley the last four years.

Linda loved antiques, quilts and was a collector of many things. She never met a stranger and loved to talk. Linda and George both loved helping their neighbors and family.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings, Pat Panizer, Bud Williams, Barbare Simonson-Lipe.

In addition to her beloved husband and parents, Janice was preceded in death by two brothers.
Janice was director for both, Kenneth Martin Preschool and Child Development for SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital for eighteen years. Jan retired in 2005. She was a selected Senior Saint and was active in many civic organizations. She and her husband were members of Saint Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Elks, Moose, American Legion, AmVets, and Mount Vernon Sportsman Club.
Art and culture were more than hobbies and making people laugh fortified her. Jan was very proud of her husband and children for all of their accomplishments.
A Visitation will be held May 8, 2024 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Chapel in Woodlawn, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 pm. Intombment will follow. A Celebration of Life will be held May 8, 2024 from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm at the Mount Vernon Sportsman's Club. Memorials may be made in Janice's honor to Saint Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Janice also asked that people do a kind deed for their fellow man in her memory.
