Departed: 04/17/2022 (Trenton)
Obituary Preview: Obituary
Louise Munn Williams of Trenton, New Jersey, departed this life on Sunday, April 17, 2022 at the age of 75. She was born in Mercer County, New Jersey, on February 25, 1947, the only child to the union of Clinton and Ella Sanders. She attended Our Lady of Divine Shepard Grammar School and St. Mary’s Cathedral High School.  Respectively, graduating as OLDS’ Valedictorian and the Salutatorian of her St. Mary’s graduating class.  She continued her education attending Mercer County Community College.  Louise was a life-long resident of Trenton, her dedication, pride and work ethic advanced her career pursuits.  In May 2003 she retired from The Judiciary of New Jersey after 37 years in State Government.   Her love for people led to her second career as a friendly mixologist where she graciously served patrons in Trenton, Ewing and surrounding areas.
The Order of Eastern Star was woven into her life as she began her dedication to charity, truth and loving kindness when she joined and served with the Youth Department from ages 6 to 12.  As a devoted member of the Fraternal Order of Eastern Stars her recommitment to service in 1973 continued for many decades, as she moved up in ranks and eventually held the title of Worthy Matron. Louise was dynamic in her leadership and commitment to the organization, her proudest moment was serving as Worthy Matron to two chapters simultaneously.  She was extremely humbled by these honors, and the many recognitions and degrees awarded for her years of active service.
Louise, affectionately known as, “Queen Weezie” was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and loyal friend to many.  Her spirited demeanor, compassion and empathetic nature complemented her innate ability to avail herself for an ear to listen and a shoulder to lean on. Her love for shopping was paralleled by her fabulous sense of style.  Louise loved traveling, enjoying concerts with her late husband, and hosting family and friends, but never needed a special day or reason to prepare her famous turkey salad or deviled eggs.
Louise was a person of many facets, whether she was serving her community by feeding those less fortunate or organizing a clothing drive, she was a resource for those in need. As Worthy Matron Louise loved hosting cabarets, where her great fashion sense was always on display as she changed from one fabulous outfit to the next through-out the night.  She was wise, witty and charming, with a spark that unapologetically allowed her to share what was on her mind.  Louise was admired, respected and love by all who knew her and in return, Louise LOVED – she loved her family, friends and many others unconditionally.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents Ella and Clinton Sanders, her husband and “love of her life” Jimmie Williams, her son, Douglass Stacey Munn, granddaughter Amber K. Branch, son-in-law Leo H. Drayton and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She is survived by her children, Rhonda Deneen Drayton, Derrick (Ricky) F. Sanders, David C. Munn (Shannon), Davina N. Brittingham, step-children Germond Robinson (Mary) and Danielle Munn Bradley, grandchildren, Aishia, Iynana, Leo, Lamar, David, Jelani, Shakeira, Ziya, James, Joshua, Janielle, Jani, and host of great-grandchildren, her nearest and dearest sister friend for 68 years, Willow McDaniel Davis (Frank), co-parent David Calvin Munn, Jr. (Margaret) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends, fraternal sisters and a community that loved her.
Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near; still loved, still missed and very dear.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an obituary?

An obituary is a written notice that announces the death of a person, typically including their name, age, date of birth and death, and a brief biography. It's usually published in a newspaper, online obituary platform, or funeral home website to inform friends, family, and community members of the person's passing.

What is the purpose of an obituary?

The primary purpose of an obituary is to announce the death of a loved one and provide information about their life, achievements, and surviving family members. It also serves as a way to share news of the passing with a wider audience, invite people to attend funeral services or memorial events, and provide details about charitable donations or other ways to honor the deceased.

Who writes an obituary?

Typically, a family member, close friend, or funeral home staff member writes an obituary. In some cases, a professional obituary writer may be hired to craft the notice. The writer should have a good understanding of the deceased person's life, personality, and accomplishments to create a meaningful and accurate tribute.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A standard obituary typically includes the deceased person's full name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, military service, hobbies, interests, and surviving family members. It may also include information about funeral services, memorial contributions, and condolences.

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary depending on the publication or online platform. Generally, it should be concise and to the point, ranging from 100 to 500 words. Longer obituaries may be more suitable for online platforms or memorial websites.

Can I include photos in an obituary?

Yes, many publications and online platforms allow you to include one or multiple photos with the obituary. This can be a great way to personalize the notice and make it more engaging. Be sure to check with the publication or platform for specific guidelines on photo submissions.

How do I submit an obituary to a newspaper?

To submit an obituary to a newspaper, contact the paper's obituary department directly via phone or email. They will provide guidance on their submission process, word count limits, and any specific requirements for content and formatting.

Can I write my own obituary in advance?

Yes, it's becoming increasingly popular for people to write their own obituaries in advance. This can ensure that your life story is told accurately and authentically. You can store the draft with your important documents or share it with a trusted family member or friend.

What is a self-written obituary called?

A self-written obituary is sometimes referred to as an "autobit" or "self-obit." It's a unique opportunity for individuals to reflect on their life experiences, accomplishments, and values.

How much does it cost to publish an obituary?

The cost of publishing an obituary varies widely depending on the publication, location, and length of the notice. Online platforms may offer free or low-cost options, while traditional newspapers may charge by the line or word count. Expect to pay anywhere from $50 to $1,000 or more for publication.

Can I edit an obituary after it's been published?

In most cases, it's difficult to make changes to an obituary once it's been published in print. However, online platforms may allow you to edit or update the notice after initial publication. Check with the publication or platform for their specific policies on revisions.

How long does it take for an obituary to be published?

The timeframe for publishing an obituary varies depending on the publication's schedule and deadlines. Online platforms often publish notices immediately or within hours of submission. Traditional newspapers may take several days or even weeks to publish an obituary.

Can I include humor in an obituary?

Absolutely! Humor can be a wonderful way to celebrate the deceased person's personality and spirit. Just be sure to keep the tone respectful and avoid offending anyone who may be grieving.

Should I include charitable donation information in an obituary?

Yes! Including information about charitable donations or memorial contributions can be a meaningful way to honor the deceased person's legacy and support a worthy cause.

Can I write an obituary for someone who has passed away recently?

If you're writing an obituary for someone who has passed away recently, it's essential to prioritize accuracy and sensitivity. Take time to gather information from family members and friends to ensure that the notice is both informative and respectful.

How do I find old obituaries?

You can search for old obituaries through online archives like Newspapers.com or GenealogyBank.com. Local libraries and genealogical societies may also maintain collections of historical newspapers and obituaries.

Can I reuse an old obituary as a template?

You can use an old obituary as inspiration or a starting point for writing your own notice. However, be sure to customize the content and details to fit the person you're honoring.

What is the difference between an obituary and a eulogy?

An obituary is a written notice announcing a person's death and providing biographical information. A eulogy is a speech or written tribute delivered at a funeral or memorial service that celebrates the person's life and shares personal anecdotes.

Can I include quotes or lyrics in an obituary?

Absolutely! Quotes, lyrics, or poems can add depth and meaning to an obituary. Choose something that resonates with the deceased person's personality or interests.

How do I handle errors or inaccuracies in an already-published obituary?

If you discover errors or inaccuracies in an already-published obituary, contact the publication or platform immediately. They may be able to correct the mistake online or issue a correction in a subsequent edition.

Can I write an obitary for someone who has not passed away yet?

No! An obiturary is specifically written for someone who has passed away. If you want to honor someone who is still alive, consider writing a tribute or celebratory article instead.

Is it necessary to include funeral service details in an obiturary?

No! While including funeral service details can be helpful for those who want to attend, it's not required. You can choose to share this information separately through social media, email invitations, or other channels.

Sometimes! Some online platforms may allow you to include links or URLs in an obiturary to direct readers to additional resources or memorial websites. Check with the platform for their specific guidelines on linking.

How do I ensure that my obiturary is accessible to everyone who wants to read it?

To ensure maximum accessibility, consider publishing your obiturary online through multiple channels (e.g., newspaper website, social media, memorial website). This will increase its visibility and reach a broader audience.

Is there a standard format for writing an obiturary?

No! While there are general guidelines for writing an obiturary, there is no one "right" way to do it. Be creative and focus on telling the story of your loved one's life in a way that feels authentic and meaningful.

Can I write multiple obituaries for one person?

Yes! You might choose to write separate obituaries for different audiences (e.g., work colleagues vs. close friends) or for different purposes (e.g., formal newspaper notice vs. social media tribute). Just be sure to tailor each version appropriately.
