Obituary Preview: Annie Pearl Hampton was born in Columbus, Georgia on May 19, 1940, to the late Willie P. Bowman and Jessie M. Bowman. Ann (as she was known as for her friends and family), attended Greater Beulah Baptist Church in Columbus Georgia and at an early age she accepted and received Christ as her personal Lord and Savior.
Annie's education began in Columbus, Georgia where she made countless and unforgettable friends and memories. She relished and often reminisced on her schoolgirl days and the Spencer High School graduating class of 1959, that which she adored. After high school, Ann relocated to Ohio where she proudly attended the prominent HBCU, Central State University. Following college she settled into life in Cleveland, Ohio. There she found a new church home at Temple Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Eugene Ward Sr., Ann was a loyal member for over 60 years serving on several auxiliaries; most notably she served on Usher Bboard #3, the Women's Choir, and the Nurses Ministry. She enjoyed fellowship with the Great Big Family, so many beautiful memories and friendships were made there. Ann even met her husband at Temple Baptist Church and in 1963 she married the late Donald J. Hampton, to their union four children were born.
Annie was an easy-going woman and not hard to please. She enjoyed cooking, traveling with her sister, and genuinely loved helping others. Ann worked in the banking industry for a few years and volunteered regularly at the Greater Cleveland Food Bank. During the mid 80's Annie decided to hone into her calling of service to the aging population. She became a full-time care giver with Interim Healthcare and helped many senior citizens and their families live comfortably in their homes. Ann was a faithful woman with a heart of gold, often generously giving of her time, talents, and money to her loved ones. She lent quite the helping hand in supporting her children and grandchildren. When her health started to decline in 2007 Anie stopped working and switched gears to focus on enjoying her life with family and close friends.
On April 14, 2022, Annie closed her eyes to this world and released her beautiful spirit to its eternal resting place. She departed this life peacefully on a heavenly journey. Douglas Young - July 26, 1961 - April 06, 2022

Departed: 04/06/2022 (Cleveland)
Obituary Preview: Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved, Douglas Young. Douglas Lofton Young was born on Wednesday, July 26, 1961 in Cleveland, Ohio to loving and adoring parents JoAnne Marie and Fred Taylor Young. Both parents preceded him in death, as well as his sister, Toni Starr Twitty. Douglas, was the youngest of four children. He was the brand new baby boy, who filled our hearts with love and joy, completing the Young family circle.
Douglas accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized, along with his entire family. They all served as members of Avon Avenue Baptist Church under the pastorate of Reverend Thomas Chapman. Eventually, he rededicated his life to Christ and became a part of Set Free Ministries, under the leadership of Pastor Tony Crosby.
Growing up Douglas performed every deed and endeavor swiftly, where it was running, dancing or any other undertaking...he was fast! His deep love and passion for dancing was obvious. He took great pride in his soulful and rhythmic routines. There was not a possibility of anyone to successfully challenge his abilities or talent. in a blink of any eye, Douglas would emerge as a conqueror. During his primary stages of childhood, Douglas was distinguished by expert judgement, as often as a genius.  These extraordinary conclusions sought the attention and admittance of colleges and universities, while in his elementary and junior high school years of education. Although having exceptional levels of intelligence, there also exited a realization of Dual Diagnosis. Things began to deteriorate, triggering challenges and limitations; however, he still continues to have enthusiasm for life! There was never a dull moment with Dougie! Never!
Dougie never accepted the word or action "NO"! When he was focused on results and his mind was made up, he wouldn't stop until he completed his task. Dougie was everywhere, you could look up and there was Dougie...downtown, uptown, east or west, there weren't too many spots in Cleveland where Douglas didn't make a name for himself. Douglas never failed to keep his audience filled with smiles and laughter, especially when he would bust out with a vigorous round of laughter, and nothing was said. Last but not least, Dougie had the gift of gab and could use it to persuade you to give him monetary gifts. If you tried to change the subject, Douglas would bring you back to the initial question..."Do you have $20 dollars?", so he could wash his clothes. That was our Dougie, he will truly be missed.
Douglas peacefully moved into the ever-loving arm Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, April 6. 2022.
He leaves to cherish his memory, two siblings: Terry E. Young, Cleveland, OH and Pastor Pamela Johnson, Detroit MI; one aunt Bettye L. Ferguson; four nieces: Sherrie Burton, Danielle Young, Cortnie Burton and Nicole Nelson; one nephew LaVez Burton; four great-nephews: Shereise Burton, Jordai Burns, Brooklyn Burton and Jaymie Nelson; four great-nephews: Eugen Burton, LaMarr Burton, Isaac Young and James Cury Adkins III; two great great-nieces Isabella and Aurora and a host of relatives, friends and his extended family at Frontline.
A public viewing will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2022, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the House Of Peace Funeral Home, 4105 East 71st Street (off East 71st and Harvard), Cleveland, OH. The Celebration of Life Services will be held Friday, April 22, 2022. A 10:30 AM Wake and 11:00 AM Service also at the House Of Peace Funeral Home.
Face Mask will be required for both Viewing and Funeral services.

Leatryce M Bankston - August 02, 1932 - March 12, 2022

Departed: 03/12/2022 (Cleveland)
Obituary Preview: My Journey
The Lord received His servant, Leatryce Marcelo Bankston, who passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, March 12, 2022. She was 89 years old. Leatryce was a determined, dedicated servant for Christ as she battled her health challenges and remained anchored in the Lord until He called her home.  Leatryce was born August 2, 1932, to Amathyne Fuller and Percy Bankston in Decatur, Alabama. She was the oldest sibling of five sisters and one brother.
In 1937, Rev. Dr. Robert L. Fuller would be appointed Pastor of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church of Cleveland, Ohio. With the family's beloved "Uncle Brother," leading the charge that meant the Fuller Family would relocate north to Cleveland. Leatryce would continue her education at Miles Standish School matriculating through the Cleveland Municipal School District and graduating from Glenville High School Class of 1950.
Leatryce was a strong, independent woman, and was determined to make it on her own terms, in a so-called, "Man's World". So, in 1960 she joined the Famous Cleveland Police Department Women's Bureau. Back then the women were not permitted to integrate with the men, but per a federal lawsuit in March, 1978 she went from badge #3026 to badge #380 and fully integrated into the Cleveland Police Department. By June 1981, she became one of the first African-American women in the Cleveland Police Department history to become a sergeant to lead men and women alike, black and white. Sergeant Bankston was an active Black Shield Member: Her illustrious career spanned about 28 years until her retirement in 1988. But her service to trainees continued for many years thereafter.
She was a lifelong member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church for 80 years. It is during this time she developed her love of the Lord under the stewardship of Rev. Dr. Robert L. Fuller. Leatryce was always kind and well spoken. She always had time to answer a question; or share her thoughts and opinions with anyone who was within earshot of her like her buddy, Mother Britt or just solve a problem no matter how small it was. She will be deeply missed by loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her creator.
Leatryce enjoyed being around family and friends such as Choppie, Doll, Faye Beverly and so many others to name a few. But her mother, Amathyne was her world...her life. She made sure her friends and family from cousins Bobby, Arna and Varick always had whatever they needed to succeed in life. The love she shared with us all goes well beyond measure.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving cousins: Varick L. Fuller (Chantal), Arna L. Fuller (Rollston), Rashun Wilson (Lucius) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and many friends.
Leatryce was preceded in death by her father: Percy Bankston, Louisville, KY; mother: Amathyne Fuller, Cleveland, OH; five sisters: Yvonne Hampton, Cleveland, OH, Joanne Bankston, Ph.D. Louisville, KY, Vicki Bankston, Madison, WI, Imogene Bankston, Louisville, KY and Faye Gathright, Jacksonville, FL; one brother: Percy W. Bankston Jr, Louisville, KY.

Anita was a determined woman and known for being "Jazzy". She loved cultural art, fashion, hair, travel and was a self-appointed food connoisseur and an amazing cook. Once you ate her cooking you would know that she was a bona fide foodie, but her greatest passion above all was her family. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Hermon Baptist since the age of eighteen years old. It is during this time she met and married Charles Fuller in 1965 and from their union they produced two children, Varick and Arna Fuller before his untimely passing from cancer in 1973.
Being a young widow, she worked at several jobs. While she was employed with Guarantee Specialty she met and then married Barry Wilson in October 1974 and from their union they had one child, Rashun Wilson. During this union, her passion for family blossomed and the family unit was everything. Anita and her sisters were social influencers of their day by forming the social organization, Bubbling Brown Suga. She had a great time hosting fabulous parties and gatherings where all were welcomed. Folks would lovingly describe Anita as a gracious host with a food spread second to none.
Her love of all things beautiful led her to attend Vogue Academy where she obtained her cosmetology license. She went to work in several premiere beauty salons in Cleveland area before becoming the owner of her beloved Avant Garde Hair Salon in Euclid, OH in 1986.
Anita joined Mt. Hermon Baptist church at an early age and flourished under the guidance of Dr. R. L. Fuller, Pastor. There was nothing more important to her than her love for the Lord and how she made sure her husband and children were in Church every Sunday learning lessons of the Lord. She was so steadfast in her commitment to attend church no matter who spent the weekend at her home they had to attend church with the family, cousins and family friends alike.
In 1995, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia briefly until she returned to Cleveland, OH where she took great care of her grandchildren. Anita was a fiercely dedicated, strong and doting grandmother; they named her Nana. Nana was their biggest cheerleader and their constant supporter. The family would not be where it is today if we hadn't had Anita as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and matriarch of the family. Anita was a loving sister and friend to her siblings. The love she shared with us all goes beyond measure. Anita was predeceased by father James Brown, husband Charles W. Fuller, sister, Virginia Tyler, and mother, Mattie Brown.
