Obituary Preview: Susan G. Gilham, 75, of Sullivan, IN, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2022, peacefully at her family’s home in Boonville, Indiana. She was born in Sullivan Indiana on December 2, 1946, to the late James (Sparky) and Mabel (Ransford) Exline.
Susan graduated from Union High School in 1964.  She retired from the United States Department of Agriculture / Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service Office after 30 years of service. She was a member of Hickory United Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, and GNO Home Economics Club in Dugger, IN.  She served on the Sullivan County 4-H Council. Her favorite times were spent with her grandchildren, family, and friends.
Survivors include twin children, Terri Sue (Chris) Nolan of Boonville, IN and Brian Keith (Sharon) Gilham of Sullivan, IN, two sisters, Diana (Hank) Sisil of Jasonville, IN and Sheila (Joel) Saikin of Chesterton, IN, five grandsons, Waylon Michael Swan and Wyatt Michael Nolan, Cole Keith Gilham, Carter Dean Gilham, Coy James Gilham, step-granddaughter, Cheyenne Drake, and several loved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Everett Gilham on March 22, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. EST Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Holmes Memorial Chapel, 642 West Silver Street, Sullivan, IN. followed by interment at Center Ridge Cemetery in Sullivan, IN. Pastor Tyler Fiscus will be officiating. Friends may visit at Holmes Memorial Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. EST Friday, April 29, 2022

Richard Rick Jewett - September 15, 1951 - April 26, 2022

Obituary Preview: Richard “Rick” Jewett, 70, of Hymera, passed away on Tuesday April 26, 2022, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital with his family by his side.  He was born in West Point, New York on September 15, 1951 to Charles Jewett and Mary Lou (Lane) Jewett. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 grandchildren. He was a 1969 graduate of  North Central High School. Rick was a self employed owner and operator of Jewett Printing for over 33 years. After retirement he worked odd jobs at at Green Turtle Bay Marina and loved every second of it.
His favorite past time was being on Kentucky Lake on his sailboat for the last 20 years. He enjoyed cleaning local boats and being a mister fix it around the marina and the town. He loved the people he had worked for. He had also set up a small workshop at home and spent so much time helping his grandson learn the art. He was always a wealth of knowledge. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Tamara (Curry) Jewett, son Chris (Crystal) Daves, daughter Jamie (Randy) Phegley, grandchildren Branden Daves, Lane Phegley, Reese Phegley, step grandchildren, Alyssa (Ace) Danko, Dalton (Cassidy) Will, four great grandchildren, and several other family and friends.
A gathering to celebrate his life will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. with services held at 7:00 p.m. at Holmes Memorial Chapel on Saturday April 30, 2022.  Burial will take place at Westlawn Cemetery in Farmersburg. If friends so desire, flowers or cards may be sent to Tamara Jewett PO Box 538, Hymera IN 47855.

Obituary Preview: Cory Stephen Shepherd,  50, of Terre Haute passed away unexpectedly while at work on Monday, April 18, 2022. He was born in Linton, IN on July 20, 1971. Cory was a 1989 graduate of Shakamak High School and was employed at the Antioch Coal Mine in Daviess County. He was a member of the Bethel Hill Church in Hymera. Cory was a loving son, father and brother, uncle and friend to all who knew him. His most favorite pastimes were spending time with his boys and his family and working on his golf game!
Survivors include his parents, Larry G. and Janie Lee ( Axe) Shepherd and Larry J. Plummer; his sons, Liam Alston Shepherd and Levi Snowden Shepherd and their mother Kristin Lewis; his Fiancé Jennifer Hamilton and her daughter Sophie; a brother Ritchie ( Amy) Shepherd; sisters Tammy ( Mike) Gilbert, Kellee ( Brent) Stevenson, Kiersten ( Bobby) Orr and his French brother, Laurent (Lilly) Grelard; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be on Saturday April 23, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Pastors Jim Salyer and Norman Santus officiating. Visitation will be on Friday at the Funeral Home from 5:00--8:00 PM and on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.  Burial will follow at Claiborne Cemetery.

Services for Gary will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Pastor Shad Akers and Brock Black officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services. Military Rights will be given by the Sullivan County Honor Guard. Burial will be at Little Flock Cemetery at a later date.

Ivaline Florence Dorrill - April 15, 1938 - April 08, 2022

Obituary Preview: Ivaline F. (Youngman) Dorrill, 83, of Dallas, Texas, formerly of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away on April 8, 2022 at Mesquite Tree Nursing Center in Mesquite, Texas.  She was born on April 15, 1938 to Ivan E. and Della C. (Blance) Youngman. She graduated from Merom High School in Merom in 1956.  As a young woman she worked at the Goodie Shop in downtown Terre Haute. During the 1970s and 80s she was a secretary at ISU in Terre Haute. In Dallas she retired after serving as a medical secretary for Parkland Hospital in the late 1980s through the 2000s. She was very active in her church as a dedicated volunteer for a food-bank, helping to meet the needs of the underprivileged in the Dallas community.
Surviving are her partner, Jacob Ramirez of Dallas, Texas; her stepdaughter, Rebecca Dorrill Thomas of Madison, Wisconsin; two nephews, Daryl Lee Youngman of O'Fallon, Missouri and Duane Lee Youngman of St. Peters, Missouri; adopted daughter Chrissy Jones of  Dallas, Texas; and many beloved friends and adopted grandkids. She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Eulan Dorrill, Sr.; her brother Cecil G. Youngman, and by her parents.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday April 21, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. in Holmes Memorial Chapel, Sullivan, Indiana. Visitation will be on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be at Merom Cemetery.

She was born in Wayne County IL,  on June 8, 1919, to Lewis Barnard and Clara Barnard.  Dorothy was a graduate of Wayne County High School, married her husband Sidney J Hale on July 2, 1941, and together they started their family.  She had worked at the Gossard Factory and the Roots Department Store. She was a faithful member of the Sullivan First United Methodist Church, Sullivan Elks and the Psi Iota Xi Sorority.  preceding her in death are her parents, her husband Sidney, a son Ronald Hale, brothers Cecil Barnard and Don Barnard.
Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Magner and her husband Trent of Paoli IN, grandchildren, Laura Gilmore, Matt Gilmore, Melissa Newton, Mandy Hale, Reid Magner, Stephanie Garrido, several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
Services for Dorothy will be on Monday,  April 4, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at The Sullivan First United Methodist Church, 107 N Court, Sullivan IN, with Pastor Lance Newton officiating.  Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the time of services. Burial will be in Center Ridge Cemetery.  The family suggests that if friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Sullivan First United Methodist Church.

Jerry G. Sparks, 82, of Carlisle, Indiana passed away peacefully at his home on March 22 under the care of VNA Hospice of the Wabash Valley.
He was born March 2, 1940 in Terre Haute to Vern and Juanita (Sanders) Sparks, both preceding him in death.  Jerry graduated from Pimento High School in 1958, Bachelor’s in 1962, and received his Master of Science degree from ISU in 1968.  He taught at Sullivan High School for 33 years.  He also enjoyed coaching basketball and golf for many years.
He served as president for the local and state Indiana Teacher and Retired Teacher Associations.  He was a life member of the Elks; participated in Sullivan Optimist, Lion’s, and Jaycee’s clubs.  He was a 25-year member of Vincennes First Baptist Church where he served on the board of trustees, taught the Family Circle class, and sang in the choir.  After his retirement in 1995 he had several parttime jobs locally plus substitute taught.  He also loved remodeling his home.
He leaves his loving wife of 28 years Patricia (Thompson) Sparks and daughter Kim Sparks of Terre Haute; his stepchildren Twain (Elizabeth) of Boonville, Sean (Sarah) of Sullivan and Amy Goings of Sullivan; grandchildren Rusty, Hayleigh, Cecilia, Connor, Morgan, Gage, Madison, and Lucien, along with nieces, nephews, cousins, and many lifelong friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at the Ambulance Training Center at 102 S. Alexander Street in Carlisle.  Holmes Memorial Chapel were entrusted with arrangements.

Carol was a loving wife, mother, Gammy, and great-grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a 1969 graduate of Sullivan High School where she met and married her high school sweetheart. She worked the farm for her father and father-in-law, worked as a Teacher’s Aid at Carlisle Elementary School, and retired from Owen’s Brockway.
Preceding her in death are her parents and a sister, Cindy Dunder.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald G. Monroe whom she married on October 8, 1971, son, Samuel  Monroe, daughters, Barbara (Bryon) Montgomery, and Allyson (James) Hannum, siblings, Belinda (Donny) Morin, Ellen (George) Birch, Mark (Deborah) Phegley, Donnie (Melinda) Phegley, Amy (Jeff) Porter, and Jenny (Monty) McKinley, sister-in-law, Leah Bedwell, grandchildren, Jakob Lance, Jared Montgomery, Aidan Hannum, and Riley Hannum, great grandchildren, Rylee Stevens, Bella Mae Vrzina and RayLynne Vrzina.

Clark and Mary Jane (Noel) Clark.  Cathy was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a wonderful friend to all who knew her.  She enjoyed sewing, crafts, bingo, music and spending time with her friends and family. In her later years she loved staying in touch by mail, and she loved sending as many personalized cards and letters as possible. She was a homemaker for the majority of her life but did have several successful side businesses as a saleswoman. She also owned and operated a local bait shop in Sullivan with her late husband for a decade.
Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband Kermit “Butch” Tackett, a son Tracy Tackett (Kimberly), a daughter Kristi Tackett, and a brother William Griffin and great-granddaughter Casey McCammon.

He enjoyed golf, fishing and playing baseball with the kids. Preceded in death by grandparents Bev and Irv Raley, and a sweet angel baby.

She had worked at the IGA in Shelburn for many years. She was preceded in death by her sons Eldon Schofield, Joe Schofield, grandsons Richard (Rick) Enstrom Jr, James Duke Schofield, great grandchildren Jason Bushhousen, Shawn Bushhousen, Ryan Padgett Jr, Barrett Enstrom, a brother Willard Blevins, and a son in-law Richard (Sonny) Enstrom
She is survived by her children Judy Enstrom, Linda (Gary) Steele, Sandy (Richard) Ashby, Jackie (Alan) Dollahan, Dink (Cathy) Schofield, Randy (Donna) Schofield, Kathy (Eugene) Gott, Lori (Brian) Padgett, 25 grandchildren, 67 great grandchildren, and 38 great great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday March 14, 2022, at Holmes Memorial Chapel with pastor Norm Santus officiating.  Visitation will be on Monday from 12 noon until the time of services.  Burial will be at Little Flock Cemetery.

Rob was a career mechanic including working for CSX Rail Road. He also loved advising his mother on the colors and the placement of quilt blocks.
Survivors include his parents of Shelburn, his children,  Logan Chandler Trowbridge of Dover DE, Skyler David Trowbridge  of Shelburn and a brother Barry Trowbridge of Farmersburg,  Aunts Mary Lou Quick of Terre Haute and Sharon J Abner of Shelburn, Uncle Jerry Trowbridge of FL and Aunt Linda Morin of Sullivan.
Services to celebrate his life will be at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening at Holmes Memorial Chapel.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services.

He enjoyed ham radio, fishing, and going to the lake.

Preceding her in death are her parents and a sister Judy Coleman.
Surviving are her loving husband of 51 years John Norris whom she married on September 5, 1970, sons Doug (Beth) Norris of Terre Haute, Daniel (Cassie) Norris of Shelburn; grandchildren, Peyton, Nikos, Hezekiah, Alex, Zach, DJ, Jessalyn, Breannah, Spencer and Shelbilyn Norris, great grandchildren, Annamarie Lee, Brodee Ramsey and Makaylee Ramsey.

He was also a talented artist and loved to doodle, whittle, and tinker. Rudy enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, mushroom hunting, and listening to good music. He lived rough and loved rough. Cathy was a 1970 graduate of Garfield High School.  She married the love of her life, John Thomas “Tom” Brannen on April 22, 1972. Cathy became a loving mother and grandmother. Cathy spent many years working at Columbia House and had a passion for golfing. She played in the women’s golf league at Idle Creek, was a member of the Sullivan VFW Auxiliary Post 2459, and enjoyed being outdoors, especially taking care of her yard.  She was an avid music lover.  Family was most important to her.  You could always count on her to be at track meets and softball games of her granddaughters, and sharing time with her family at Sullivan Park and Lake.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Tom Brannen, in 2007, her step-father, Robert Webb, and her brother, George Cleghorn.
Survivors include her mother, Dorothy Webb, her daughters, Jennifer (Paul) Majors of Terre Haute, Kelly (Nick) Hunckler of Bloomington, a brother Fred (Cathy) Cleghorn, step-brother Randy Webb, step-sister, Madama Keltz,  grandchildren Allison Solesky, Lauren Majors, and Eryan Matveeva, and other extended family and close friends.
Family and friends will celebrate her life between 11:00 a.m and 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Holmes Memorial Chapel located at 642 West Silver Street in Sullivan. Private burial will be at a later date in Summit Lawn Cemetery in Brazil. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Susie’s Place Child Advocacy Center, 7519 Beechwood Centre Road 500 Avon, IN 46123.

He was born on the family farm in Clay County on December 24, 1937 to Alfred Cooprider and Edith (Rector) Cooprider. LeRoy attended Coalmont High School, ran the family farm and had become a refrigeration engineer for Pfizer. He had been a faithful member of the Farmersburg Fire Department for over 50 years and still was an honorary member to this day.  He was on the board of directors for the Thunderbird Fire Territory. He was a member of the Farmersburg Community Church in Farmersburg.
Preceding him in death are his parents, his loving wife whom he married on June 28, 1959, Sandra Sue (Drake) Cooprider, his siblings and their spouses, Norma (Jack) Snellenburger, Mary (Raymond) Barcus, Wilma (Gene) Husband, William “Bill” (Hilda) Cooprider, brother in-laws Gerald Drake, John Drake, sister in-law Rita (Roberson) Drake, and his mother and father in-law Jack Geraldine Drake.
Survivors include his son Darwin (Annette) Cooprider, his daughter Peggy Sue (Bob) Morrison, grandchildren Daniel (Danielle) Morrison, Emily (Patrick) Lovellette, Hollyann Cooprider, Sarah Cooprider and five great grandchildren, special friend Nancy Lewis,  several nieces nephews and other extended family and many close friends.

Brenda always made sure everyone's needs were met before her own.  She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and enjoyed worshiping online.  Preceding her in death were her parents, her wonderful husband of 45 years, Bradley Landis, who passed in 2010, a brother Bobby Wayne Falconbury and a niece Christina Falconbury Ballingall.

Dorothy was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, of which she thoroughly enjoyed very much helping with the children's program. She was also a regular volunteer at the Sullivan Community Hospital for many years. Dorothy especially loved doing yard work, cutting grass, tending to her flowers and spending time with her family and friends after regularly cooking Sunday dinners for family gatherings.  Dorothy enjoyed traveling with her friends as well. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack in 1989 after 34 years of marriage, her brothers Lawrence Little, James Little, Raymond Little, Bill Little and her sisters Lois Glenn, Patsy Stasen.
Survivors include her daughter Cathy (William "Dink") Schofield and two sons Jac (Lynn) Padgett, Brian (Lori) Padgett. She was blessed with 6 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
