MaryGrace Spencer, 85, of Fredonia, NY passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk, NY. She was born in Silver Creek, NY on May 23, 1938, the daughter of the late Loretto and Mary (Desko) DePasquale. Beloved mother of John Spencer Jr., Kimberley (Ray) Prizel and Lance Spencer; loving grandmother “Sweetie” of Erica (Michael) Trysnicky, Cody Prizel, Damian and Ethan Spencer; cherished great-grandmother “Gigi” of Hattie and Henry Trysnicky; dear sister of Sal (Sony) DePasquale.
In addition to her parents, MaryGrace was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. MaryGrace enjoyed spending time with her loving family, going for rides for tea and pie. She especially looked forward to her nightly treat of reading to her great-granddaughter Hattie. Every time she was communicating with family and friends she would end the conversation with “Love You Big”
As per MaryGrace’s wishes services were private. Interment was in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Silver Creek.

Steven is survived by many family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, Joshua Waterman.
Steven was a proud member of the Seneca Nation of Indians and he belonged to the Turtle Clan. In his younger years he played football for the Seneca Sachems. His team won the inaugural Super Bowl. He worked as a floor associate for the Seneca Bingo Hall in Irving, NY.
He loved sports and was a diehard Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Bandits fan.

Vona Jr. October 28, 1935 – March 14, 2024 Dr. John R Vona Jr. , “Doc” 88, of Silver Creek, New York, formerly of North Tonawanda, New York, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 14, 2024, surrounded by family members. He is predeceased by his wife, Joyce R. Vona, parents, John R Vona Sr and Ruth Vona, and his beloved son, John R Vona III. Dr. Vona lived life for his family, “La Familia.” Nothing gave him more joy than spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild Tony. He completed school at the University of Buffalo’s Dental School in 1961 and immediately entered the US Army Reserve Dental division at Ft Riley, Kansas. After an honorable discharge, “Doc” set down roots in Silver Creek, NY. He had a thriving dental practice for over 45 years and continued to work well into his mid-80s for the Resource Center in Dunkirk, NY, where he retired after working 61 years as an area dentist. He prided himself on building relationships and patient care with a splash of humor. Besides his dental talents, he was also an athlete and musician. He played on UB’s basketball and baseball teams, for which he was recently inducted into the Western New York Baseball Hall of Fame. A fifty-year member of Tri-County Country Club, “Doc” loved his golf, always looking forward to his annual outing with his Ganson Street boys and trips to Hershey, Pennsylvania. His musical prowess on his saxophone was remarkable, constantly filling the house with his smooth jazz sounds. For several years, he played with the New Horizon Band of WNY, performing in their seasonal concerts at Fredonia SUNY’s Mason
Hall. Dr. Vona is survived by his four children, sons Dr. David Vona (wife Judy), and Daniel Vona (Karin Scott) and two daughters, Linda Hart (husband Chris), Sandy Stewart (husband Randy); Granddaughters, Kimberly Tomasik (husband Zach), Haley Hart, Samantha Stewart, grandsons Brandon Hart and Matthew Vona, great grandchild Anthony (Tony) and sisters, Carol Robek and Janet Remzi. His family and friends will forever cherish his memory. Although his presence will
be deeply missed, he will live on in the hearts and minds of all who knew him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, 165 Central Ave., Silver Creek, NY at 1 PM and a reception will immediately follow at the family’s residence, 12202 Ludeman Dr., Silver Creek, NY. A private family graveside service will be observed at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Kenmore, New York, where he will be laid to rest next to his son, John, and wife,

Erva R. Garnsey, 82, of Silver Creek, NY passed away Sunday morning March 10, 2024 at his residency with his loving family at his side.
He was born on July 22, 1941 in Lowville, NY the son of the late Bernard and Ala (Bailey) Garnsey.
Erva grew up in Lowville NY until marrying the love of his life and moving to Silver Creek NY. He graduated from Lowville Academy & Free School in 1959 and attended Buffalo University. He previously worked at Transit Country Club as a Sous Chef, Bethlehem Steel and Ralston Purina where he retired after more than 35 years of service. On February 9, 1963 Erva married Carol A Cross at the First Methodist Church in Silver Creek and they were wed for 56 years at the time of her passing in 2019. Erva spent many years remodeling his house, he enjoyed antiquing, yard sales, wintering in Florida and gardening.
Erva is survived by three daughters, Cynthia (Hassan) Abdelbaky of Monroe Township, NJ, Patricia (Kevin) Gilbert of Jamestown, NY and Kathleen Garnsey of Portland, NY; a grandson, Matthew Dow of Clermont FL; and a sister, Marion Garnsey of Park Ridge, NJ and companion, Joanne Abbott.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Friends may call at the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave. Silver Creek, NY on Thursday March 14, 2024 from 4-7pm where a funeral service will be held on Friday, March 15 at 11am. A private burial will be at the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Obituary Preview: Jerome K. "Jerry" Reed, 62, of Jamestown, NY passed away on Thursday February 8th after a lengthy illness. Jerry was born in Silver Creek NY on September 15, 1961 the son of the late Harley and Josephine (DePasquale) Reed. He spent most of his years living in Silver Creek and Dunkirk before moving into a group home in Jamestown nearly 18 years ago. Jerry worked for the Resource Center in both Dunkirk and Jamestown for 25 years before retiring in 2015. He attended a Resource Center Dayhab in Jamestown in his later years. Jerry lived his life with joy and carried that joy into just about every room he entered. He loved attending dances. He loved superheroes (especially Iron Man). He loved Professional Wrestling and was even fortunate enough to meet and have his picture taken with his favorite wrestler of all time, Hulk Hogan. Most of all, Jerry loved meeting people. If you met Jerry, you were immediately his friend. Jerry's family would like to thank the countless Direct and Indirect Support staff that have taken such good care of Jerry and helped him live his best life over the past 18 years. You made a difference in his life as well as our family's. Thank you all.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was predeceased by his brother Charlie and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is survived by his loving Aunt Marygrace Spencer, his Uncle Sal DePasquale, his brothers Jim (Kathy Thies) and Don, along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jessica just recently became certified to be a landscaper, she was apprenticing with Seasonal Lawn Care in W. Seneca, NY. She also was an active member of the DAV Ladies Auxiliary in Silver Creek, NY
Jessica was a “Free Spirit” who had a very engaging and caring personality. She loved meeting new people and enjoyed many different types of music. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her parents; her two beloved children, Charlotte “Charlie” Verge of Edmonton, Alberta and Robin Lauber of Angola, NY; Robin’s father, Daryle Lauber Jr. of Angola, NY; her paternal grandparents, Barry (Doreen) Verge; her maternal grandparents, Hugh (Beverly) Guitard; her father-in-law and mother-in law, Daryle (Deborah) Lauber Sr.

She married William C. Estee on November 18th , 1950 at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Farnham, N.Y. They were married 61
years until his death on September 9th 2011. She is survived by a daughter Darlene Estee of Virginia Beach, Va., grandchildren Sarah (Harley)
Barletta, Alyssa and Michael Estee and great grandson William Barletta all of Rochester, N.Y. Besides her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Kevin R. Estee and her
brother Charles Pfleuger. Shirley had a long work history first the former Forbes and Wagner, then Silver Creek Central
School cafeteria, and of course the family farm. She was an avid Bingo player. She was a member of the Eastern Stars. She attended Christ

Obituary Preview: Nancy L. Graham, 87, of Bemus Point, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, January 31, 2024 at Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing Home in Jamestown, NY.
She was born on May 2, 1936 in Westfield, NY, the daughter of the late Stanton and Alberta (nee Bills) Betts. She married the love of her life Oscar Graham on June 23, 1962 in Tidioute, Pa. and he preceded her death on May 5, 2013.
Nancy graduated from Westfield Academy and Central School in 1954 and was a resident of Bemus Point most of her life. She was employed by Bemus Point Central School, where she worked as a bus driver, retiring after 27 years of service. Nancy always volunteered to take the extra trips taking the students to their sporting events and extracurricular activities. She was her children and the student’s biggest cheerleader and supporter.
Nancy participated in many activities, she led her sons Cub Scout troop as a Den Mother, was very involved as a leader in 4-H, made costumes for Bemus Point school musicals. She enjoyed gardening, riding motorcycles, baking, scrapbooking, flower arranging. She loved decorating her home and going on family camping trips.
Her memberships included the Bemus Point United Methodist Church, the Westfield Quilters’ Guild and the Bemus Point Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by four loving children, Jeffrey (Kim) Graham of Maple Springs, NY, Randy (Julie) and David (Sue) Graham both of Bemus Point, NY and Diane (David) Pugh of Jamestown, NY; eleven cherished grandchildren, Erin (Nathan) Lord, Christopher Bombardo, Jackson (Katie), Taylor and Trevor Graham, Travis Pugh, Dakota Graham, Kate (Josh) Bartok, Graham Pugh, Brianna Swanson and Skylar Saxton; 12 great-grandchildren; a dear sister, Judy Esperson of Brocton, NY; also survived by many nieces & nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50years Oscar Graham and two brothers, Charles and Arthur Betts.

Marcia was born on August 26, 1939 in Dekalb, Illinois, the daughter of the late Harry and Marie (née Latham) Gates.
Marcia is survived by four loving children and their spouses, Stephen (Elaine) Martin of Silver Creek, NY, Sara K. (Rick Borgman) Martin of Bangor, ME, Wayne (J-Anne) Martin Jr. of Forestville, NY and Sean (Bria) Martin of Mill Valley, CA; nine cherished grandchildren, Kara Martin, Jordan Borgman, Haley (Carl) Murray, Jessica, Sydney and Finneas, Deirdre, Aidan and Everly Martin; one great-grandson, Cayne Murray.
In addition to her parents, Marcia was preceded in death by two husbands, Wayne Martin Sr. and Warren Erdle, and two brothers, Donald Gates and Wally Zook. She graduated from Elburn High School in 1957. Marcia worked for National Metalwares in the clerical department in Aurora, IL, Lake Shore Family Medicine as a medical transcriptionist for many years, and retired from Lakeshore Hospital. In her free time she was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, served as a Girl Scout leader, both in Aurora, IL, and was very involved with T.O.P.S. in Silver Creek. She enjoyed bowling, reading mystery novels, and working on word and jigsaw puzzles. Marcia also loved animals and was a huge fan of Elvis, “ King Of Rock and Roll”.

Josh is survived by his step-father, William J. “Bill” Stull; seven loving children, Autumn (Jeremy), Jessica, Bella, Pyper, Skyler, Reese and Mia Stull; two dear sisters, Erica (Joshua Stewart) Bouvier and Lindsey (Joe) Newton and a brother, Brian (Mandie) Stull; three cherished grandchildren, Jaxon, Sophie and Jasper(on his way!).
Josh was an alumnus of Silver Creek Central School. He worked for PPP Future Development in Alexander, NY for more than 11 years, a job in which he loved because he could be outdoors.
Josh was the epitome of an outdoorsman, he just loved being with nature, hunting and riding his ATV. Most of all he enjoyed being with his family and friends. He will greatly missed by all.

He was born on January 12, 1933 in Buffalo, NY, the son of the late Charles and Marjorie (nee Seitz) Herbeck.
Leo was a 1951 graduate of Kenmore High School and proudly served his country in U.S. Army. He married the former Rosemarie Vargel in Berlin, Germany on February 2, 1955. She predeceased him on July 18, 2018 after 63 years of marriage.
Leo worked for Automation Gages, Inc. in Rochester, NY as a mechanical engineer retiring after 43 years of service.
His memberships included the Myopia Pistol Club in Rochester, NY, Desert Wings RC Club in Lake Havasu City, AZ, and the Hanford Bay Community Club. He was also a fix and repair hobbyist.
He is survived by his son Terrence “Terry” (Kimmarie) Herbeck of Silver Creek, NY; daughter, Peggy (Francis) Delach of Lake Havasu, AZ; and step-granddaughter, Francesca (Michael) Padgeon.
As per Leo’s wishes there will be no public visitation and a Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family in 2024.

Violet Marie (Cole) Westerdahl, 81, of Silver Creek, NY, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, December 4, 2023, following a lengthy illness. Vi was born May 1, 1942, in Stoneham, PA, to the late Lewis D. and Virginia (Ishman) Cole.
Vi was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. Vi took great pride in her immaculate home and gardens. She enjoyed golfing, baking, going to the casino, traveling the country with her late husband Dave, and spending time with her family, close friends, and grand dogs. One of Vi’s fondest memories was a trip to Vegas where she and Dave parted the crowd on Fremont Street with their show-stopping dance moves. After marrying the love of her life and best friend on November 3, 1962, Vi devoted her time and energy to raising three incredible daughters.
Vi is survived by her two daughters, Michele Law and husband Phillip of Irving, NY, and Brooke Heber of Silver Creek, NY. Son-in-law, Glenn Chasser of Venetia, PA. Granddaughter, Ashleigh Gazda, husband Cullen, son Parker, daughter Chase, and son Greyson of Navarre, FL. Grandson, Justin Law, fiancé Megan Slocum, daughter Lexi, daughter Brielle, and son Kane of Gowanda, NY. Sister, Barb (late Sonny) Lietchenberger of Barnes, PA. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Vi was preceded in death by her husband, Dave (April 13, 2010), her eldest daughter, Terri Chasser (April 21, 2022), and her brothers Walter and Donald.

and Mary (Dattilo) Botticello. Nancy graduated from Silver Creek Central School in 1961. Following her marriage and birth of her children, she was a stay-at-home mom until her children were teenagers and then worked for Citibank beginning in 1979 as a teller and later head
teller and retired from Community Bank in 1999. Nancy’s volunteer service included serving as a Board Member of Lake Shore Hospital Auxiliary, TLC Health Network Foundation, and Tri-County Country Club
Women’s Association, and for many years, especially over the Holidays, at St. Columbans. She was a long-time member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic
Church. A member of Tri-County Country Club (“God’s Country”) for 60 years, Nancy won the Women’s Club Championship a remarkable 39 times between 1969 and 2020, spanning seven different decades. She and her husband Rick enjoyed playing golf together, including in tournaments, where they won two Mr. & Mrs. Buffalo District Championships, and in North Myrtle Beach, where they wintered for 10 years and enjoyed visits from their children and grandchildren. They were grateful to have
taken their dream vacation to Italy in 2019. Nancy’s passion was gardening and landscaping. Her lawn and garden were always impeccably manicured, and she maintained beautiful flowers at her parents’
graveside for 40 years. Most of all, Nancy cherished spending time with, and staying close to, her friends and family, especially her grandchildren, who so often visited in the summer months
and enjoyed many activities and wonderful meals together. Nancy is survived by her devoted husband of 30 years, Richard D. Taaffe; son, Mark (Mari) Pratt of Glen Allen, VA; daughter Julie (Luis Chacon) Beichler of Mooresville, NC; stepdaughter Jaclyn Taaffe (Derrick Hitchcock) of Cary, NC; six cherished grandchildren, Kristina Pratt and Andrew Pratt, and Jordan (Alex) Beichler, Nicholas (Emily) Beichler, and Sydney Beichler, and Holden Taaffe; and two great- grandchildren (Cohen and Avery); brothers-in-law Sal DePasquale (Chuck and Greg) and Dale VanVlack (Dale Jr. and Evie); and numerous cousins. She left behind four children, seven grandchildren and 96 years of fabulous memories. Born in Fabius, NY in 1927, she remembers seeing horses and wagons tied up at the general store, listening to mystery programs on the radio, and searching for enemy aircraft during WWII. She married William R. Taber Sr. in 1948 and commenced a
series of moves around NY State with the NY State Conservation Department. Over the next seven years Georgia and Bill brought four children into the world: William Jr., Mary, Michele, and Martha. They moved to Silver Creek, NY where Bill became a biology teacher. During the next several decades she witnessed the commercialization of the television, the transistor, the computer, and the first steps on the moon. It was during these years that Georgia taught herself the world of antiques. She started a business in her home and eventually became a recognized expert in antiques, specializing in art, glassware, furniture, and jewelry. Throughout her 60 years in antiques, she participated in shops in Hamburg, Clarence, Sheridan, Springville, and Westfield. Georgia was well known throughout Western New York for not only her expertise, but also her frequent appearance at auctions, shows, shops, and sales. She was a consummate collector of stamps, and a member of the Erie Co. Philatelic Society. She loved collecting sport cards with her Grandsons. She will be dearly missed by

Joe graduated from Silver Creek High school in 1964. He worked in the auto industry most of his life, retiring as a District Manager for Monro Auto Service in Buffalo, NY.
He loved sports, especially the NY Mets, Jets and the Knicks and NASCAR. In his younger years he enjoyed drag racing, in organized racing or on the street.

In her retirement, she was an active volunteer at the Silver Creek Food Pantry and served on the Town of Hanover Planning Board for 22 years.
If you knew Joan, you knew that she was a force of nature who loved to make people laugh and found the best in people. No one was a stranger when Joan was around; she talked to everyone and gave freely of herself to help others. Joan’s favorite ways to spend her time was with her family on the lake and visiting with her friends at the Silver Creek Firemen’s Club. A private ceremony and burial were held on November 28th at the Hole Parker Funeral Home and Glenwood Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. He worked for Tops Grocery stores as a baker for many years, retiring from the Jamestown store as a supervisor after more than 30 years of service.
George was very active in the community in which he lived. He joined the Sunset Bay Fire Dept. on August 28, 1973 making him a 50 yr member.
He held every administration position at the fire dept., past chief, past president and was 30 yr member on the board of directors. He also served as a councilman for the Town of Hanover.
In his younger years he enjoyed fishing, he was an avid hunter, a diehard Buffalo Bills fan and loved to go to the casino with his wife Dawn and friends.
George is survived by his beloved wife, Dawn Weiskerger; four sons, Kevin (Melinda) Weiskerger of Irving, NY, Robert, Aaron and Jason Weiskerger all of Silver Creek, NY; four cherished grandchildren, Kaelee, Rylee, Layla and Isabella Weiskerger; six siblings, Ernest (Patricia) and Roy (late Sandra) Weiskerger, Kathleen(late Kenneth) Hartloff, Edith(Brian) Kelly, Joan (Jim) Breitwieser, Patricia (Chuck Hinman)Nicholoff and Edwin Weiskerger; also survived by many nieces & nephews.

Roberta was a fierce advocate for vulnerable people. She expanded housing opportunities and home ownership options for low – income residents. She was nationally recognized for her anti-poverty model helping disadvantaged individuals.
Her professional affiliations were NYS Community Action Assoc. Board of Directors (former vice-president), member of WCA Board of Directors, Fredonia Kiwanis Club, NYS Child Care Coordinating Council Board of Directors and former vice-president of the Jamestown Rotary.
In her free time she was a diehard Buffalo Bills fan, enjoyed traveling, all types of music and boating. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Roberta is survived by her beloved husband Edward G. Fetzner; a loving daughter and son, Jessica (Tim)Fenchel of Harleysville, PA and Matthew Lundgren of Raleigh, NC; three cherished grandchildren, Hayley, Brooke and Izaiah Fenchel; two brothers, David (Dolores) Keller of Frederick, MD and Martin (Linda) Keller of VA; a step-son, James (Bridget) Fetzner of Wattsburg, PA.
