Obituary Preview: Barbara Ann Quattro, 89, of Davis, WV, passed away November 4, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her family. Born on November 17, 1932, in Hendricks, WV, she was the daughter of the late Cornelius and Maude Johnson.
Barbara was a graduate of Parsons High School. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and also a member of FOE #936 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed watching tv, cooking and baking, traveling with her family to go deep sea fishing, and hosting holiday meals and cookouts for her family. Everyone who knew her, knew that she loved the thrill of lottery tickets.
She is survived by three daughters, Janice Elaine Mullenax and husband Stacey of Thomas, WV, Cathy Ann Ruckman and husband Keith of Bridgeport, WV and Kimberly Jo Quattro-Corbin of Thomas, WV; four grandchildren, David "Pete" Scott and wife Missy, Cara Breedlove and husband Justin, Trevor and Ethan Phillips; eleven great grandchildren, Brendon Scott, Derek Scott, who was known as "Her Buddy", David Scott and wife Leslie, Jordan Delsignore, Ryan Delsignore, Kayla Landon, and Adalynn Breedlove; and four great-great grandchildren, Jackson, Hunter, Brianna and Micalea Scott.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on June 7, 2016, by her husband, James "Chub" Quattro, to whom she was married on January 9, 1954; two infant sons, James David and Michael Joseph Quattro; five siblings, June Lohmaier, Mandy, Frank, Fred, and Donald Johnson. Barbara was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, 9, 2022, from 3 to 5 PM at Davis Fire Hall. Pastor Ruth Bullwinkle will officiate a brief service at 5 PM. The Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Quattro family at this time.

Robbey Dale Nelson - December 02, 1963 - October 29, 2022

Obituary Preview: On this day, Oct 29th, 2022, Robbey Dale Nelson passed peacefully in his sleep.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Kathy Jo Nelson; his two sisters, Theresa Hannah and husband James, of Davis, WV and Tonda Crigger, Dayton of Dayton, OH; children and grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Randall Crigger and Lance Crigger.
The sun rose and welcomed Robbey to us on Dec 2, 1963, a day the world became a brighter place. He lived his life to its fullest, which was filled with excitement, adventure, and a lot of crazy. Robbey will be sorely missed and never forgotten. We all appreciate your love and support during this difficult time.
A celebration for his life will be held in the spring of 2023 where all of his loved ones will be welcomed -details to follow at a later date.

Shaun Marie Crittenden - November 16, 1967 - October 10, 2022

Obituary Preview: Shaun Marie Crittenden, 54, of Thomas, WV, passed away on October, 10, 2022, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.  Born on November 16, 1967, she was the daughter to the late Ronald and Yvonne (Close) Haller.
Shaun was a social butterfly, always happy and always smiling.  Anyone who knew her, loved her, because she was such a joy to be around.  In addition to spending time with her family, friends and beloved pets, she loved to go digging for ramps.  In 2018, Shaun won the very well deserved "Employee of the Year" award from the Tucker County Chamber of Commerce.  She worked in the service industry at Sirianni's Cafe for 30 plus years.
She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Jeff Crittenden;  a sister, Jan Cox and husband Dale of Grafton, WV; two brothers, Jody Haller and wife Lisa of Junior, WV, and Eric Haller and wife Susan of Elkins, WV; her mother and father-in-law, Jim and Kathy Hedrick of Red Creek, WV; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Becky Hedrick of Clarksville, TN, Sherry and Matt Campise of Crocker, MO, Michelle and Jody Kalar of Kerens, WV,  Mara and Bill Kunkel of New Martinsville WV, Wes and Courtney Hedrick of Alexandria, VA, and Tommy Hedrick of Mechanicsville, MD; very special niece, Desiree Grimes and husband Bryson of Kingwood, WV, that was like a daughter to her; along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Pamela Sperry.
Shaun's request to be cremated will be honored with a celebration of life service to be held at a later date. The Hinkle-Fenner funeral home is honored to be serving the Crittenden family at this time.

Obituary Preview: Jennie Lois Palma, 50, of Red Creek, WV, passed away unexpectedly on September 30, 2022, at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins, WV. Born on December 3, 1971, in Wickenburg, AZ, she was the daughter of Dorothy Ann (White) Jones and the late Robert Deral Lawson.
She was a graduate of Salome High School. She worked as a bookkeeper for several different companies over the years. Jennie was a loving daughter, mother, sister and friend. She enjoyed crafting, going to concerts and spending her free time with her family and friends. She lived her life to the fullest.
She is survived by her mother, Dorothy Ann Jones; Step-father, R.D. Jones;  two children, Michael Joseph Palma and Brianna Raquel Palma, both or Avondale, AZ; a brother, Larry Esau; and two sisters, Shelly Pinger and Rhonda Lawson.
Ms. Palma's request for cremation will be honored. The Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Palma family at this time.

In her younger years, she worked at Canaan Valley Resort as a housekeeper.  In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting, crocheting, beaded arts and all crafts. Most of all, she enjoyed being with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Larry Lee Mallow; a daughter, Sandra Lynn McPherson and husband Kevin of Phillippi, WV; a step son, Larry Lee Duncan and husband Alan Duncan of Arkansas; a step-daughter, Crystal Dawn Hardy and husband Ames of Dryfork, WV; one twin sister, Anita Cooper and husband Danny of Hendricks, WV; two grandchildren, Jimmy Brown Smith III and wife Nichole Hebb of Thomas, WV, and Angela Kay Setler and husband Jonathan of Grafton, WV; three step grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, Ryder James Setler of Grafton, WV, and Lily Kay Smith of Buckhannon, WV; and six step great-grandchildren; and a sister in law, Roxie White.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Mark White and Robert White.
Friends will be received at Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home on Friday, September, 16, 2022, from 5 to 8 PM. A funeral service held in the funeral home on Saturday September, 17, 2022, at 11 AM with Todd Rhodes officiating. Interment will follow in the White Family Cemetery.

Barbara Jo Ruckle - May 24, 1950 - September 10, 2022

Obituary Preview: Barbara Jo Ruckle, 72, of Thomas, WV, passed away September 10, 2022, surrounded by her family at her home. Born on May 24, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Paul Welton and Josephine (Blackburn) Cullers.
After graduating from Mountaineer High School, she attended Clarksburg Beauty School. She worked as a beautician and as a child caregiver. Barbara was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church of Davis. She enjoyed shopping and going to yard sales, attending basketball games and track meets, and gardening her flowers. She appreciated God's beautiful creation out at Blackwater, where she faithfully walked everyday. Most of all, she loved the time spent with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Dale Ruckle; a son, Matthew Dale Ruckle and companion Lisa Taylor of Martinsburg, WV; a daughter, Angela Ruckle of Morgantown, WV; two grandsons, Nicholas Barner and Cameron Barner; siblings, Arthur "Bud" Cullers of Salem, WV, George Cullers of Hastings, MI, Sue Beach of Hastings, MI, Dan Cullers of Battle Creek, MI, Linda Gibson and husband Sam of Bryson City, NC, and Grace Gulch and husband Steve of Middleville, MI.

James David Martin - July 18, 1948 - August 31, 2022

Obituary Preview: James David Martin, 74, of Aurora, WV, passed away on August 31, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family.  Born on July 18, 1948, in Kingwood, WV, he was the son of the late James W. "Bill"  and Virginia Ruth (Lipscomb) Martin.
He graduated from Aurora High School in 1966. He received his associates degree from Potomac State in agriculture. In 1967, he traveled to Missouri to obtain the American Farmer Degree. He was a hard working farmer, raising livestock and growing potatoes for over 50 years. He served with Union Ambulance as an EMT and medic for over 30 years. He worked as a tech in the emergency room at Preston Memorial Hospital in Kingwood, WV, for the past 27 years. Helping others was his main goal in life and he did just that. He was an asset to his community and a blessing to everyone he met.
He is survived by two sons, James David Martin II and wife Terri, and James Daniel Martin and wife Heather; a daughter, Robin Michelle Betler and husband Chris; five grandchildren, Brooke Martin, Allie and Kaylee Martin, Emmitt and Lucia Betler; a brother, Tom Martin and wife Debbie; a sister, Sue Mayne and husband Jim; as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends within the communities he served.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Linda Marie Brown, to whom he was married on November 22, 1980; an uncle, Bud Lipscomb; an aunt, Helen E.A., Davis; and one nephew, Jason Thomas Martin.

Rodney Blaine Stemple - November 10, 1958 - August 30, 2022

Obituary Preview: Rodney Blaine Stemple, 63, of Eglon, WV, passed away on August 30, 2022. Born on November 10, 1958, in Dover, Delaware, he was the son of the late Richard Grant and Evelena Ruth (Shrout) Stemple.
Rodney graduated with the last graduating class of Aurora High School in 1977.  He worked at Fairfax Stone as a Block Plant Operator and later in the shipping and receiving department at Simon Pearce where he retired from in 2019.  He enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing and working on his tractor. He loved days spent with his grandchildren.
He is survived by two sons, Rodney Allan Stemple and wife Christie, Randy Blaine Stemple and wife Samantha; seven grandchildren, Brett Crews, Cory, Cody, Xavier, KJ, Brooke and Joey Stemple; two great-grandchildren, Michael and Kenneth Crews; and one sister Charlotte Stemple.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Judith M. Stemple.

Steve Walter Shaffer - August 13, 1957 - August 07, 2022

Obituary Preview: Steve Walter Shaffer, 64, of Eglon, WV, passed away on August 7, 2022, at Garrett Regional Medical Center.  Born on August 13, 1957, in Oakland, MD, the son of the late Walter Albert Shaffer and Thelma Regina (Judy) McBride.
Mr. Shaffer graduated from Aurora high school in 1976. Worked for and retired from the IBEW local 26 electrical Union. He was the former owner of Shaffer Construction Company. He was an active member of the Mt. Grove Fire Department in the 80's and 90's. He worked security for all the Blue Grass Festivals at Mt. Grove. Steve was a member of Mountain top hunting club. He loved fishing, hunting, riding four wheelers and the great outdoors. Steve taught himself how to play the guitar. He enjoyed to build things and teach the trades of Constructions to those willing to learn. His family was his pride and joy.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Renee (Strawderman) Shaffer, whom he married on March 18, 1978. Also surviving are one son, Shane Shaffer of Davis, WV; two daughters, Heather Bosley and husband Jeremy of Red House, MD,  April Sisler and Steve Watson of Oakland, MD; a loved son in law, David Sisler of Aurora, WV; one sister, Patricia Rinker of Augusta, WV; one brother, Michael McBride of Reston, VA; six grandchildren, Michaela (David) Ormsby, Brianna (Shane) Ratliff, Vanessa Shaffer, Savanna Shaffer, Chase Sisler and Brinley Sisler; three great-grandchildren, Abel Grant Ratliff, Colton Wayne Ratliff and Benjamin James Ormsby; "bonus" grandchildren, Harley and Lauren Mersing; brother-in-law, Steve Strawderman of Pensacola, FL, sister-in-law, Gabriella "Gabby" Knotts and husband Norman "Sonny" of Leadmine, WV, and the extra kids that claimed him as dad, Darinda Slaubaugh, Dale Shiflett, Robby Kight and many others.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Calcamp and one brother, Robert McBride.

George Alan Lipscomb - July 25, 1933 - July 29, 2022

Obituary Preview: George Alan Lipscomb, Sr., 89, of Aurora, WV, passed away on July 29, 2022.  Born on July 25, 1933, in Aurora, he was the son of George Rodney and Beulah Isabelle (Elsey) Lipscomb.
George graduated from Aurora High School in 1951, and went on to college at WVU where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture in 1955 and completed his Master's Degree in Business Administration.  He taught Vo-Ag and Industrial Arts at Southern High School in Oakland, MD until 1960 and also taught Vo-Ag and Industrial Arts at Aurora High School from 1960-1963. In 1971, he became the director of the Vocation Education for Preston County. He was passionate about traveling across the United States and Internationally with his wife. He loved fishing and taking trips out west to hunt.  He was a life member of the Mountain Lions Club, the Aurora United Methodist Church, a member of the Rowlesburg Masonic Lodge #165, and a founding member of the Aurora VFD.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Helen Ardith (Harsh) Lipscomb; three sons, George Alan Lipscomb Jr. and wife Barbara of Aurora, Gary Bryan Lipscomb and wife Susan of Oak Hill, WV, Jeffrey Wayne Lipscomb and wife Pamela of Aurora; one daughter, Robin Louise Chambers and husband J.B. of Aurora; nine grandchildren, Lori Pennington and husband Terry of Mt. Storm, WV, Kelli Lipscomb of Frostburg, MD, Jared Lipscomb and wife Stephanie of Huntington, WV, Travis Lipscomb and fiance Jayna of Morgantown, WV, Jonathan Chambers of Clarksburg, WV, Derek Chambers and companion Hannah of Hagerstown, MD, Samantha Chambers of Winchester, VA, Aron Lipscomb and wife Haylee of Oakland, MD and Trevor Lipscomb and fiance Alyssa of Aurora; twelve great-grandchildren, Lily, Caleb, Luke, Adelaine Pennington, Brittany and Alyssa Thomas, Ebony and Marcus Thomas, Omari Holden,  Carter and Kamden Lipscomb, and Gavin Chambers; a brother in law, Dr. William Hall of Morgantown, WV; two nephews, Dr. David Hall and wife Dr. Mary Hall, Ed Hall and wife Tiffany all of Morgantown.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mariyln Jean Lipscomb and Patsy Ann Hall; and one granddaughter, Rhianna Michelle Lipscomb.
Friends will be received at the Aurora Memorial Building on Wednesday August 3, 2022, from 3 to 7 PM, 24079 George Washington Highway Aurora, WV 26705 and at the Aurora United Methodist Church on Thursday August 4, 2022, at 10 AM followed by the funeral service at 11 AM with Pastor Cheryl George officiating.  Interment will follow in the Aurora Cemetery.

He is survived by his sons, Anthony (Beth) Pregent and Jeffrey (Jessica) Pregent, both of Lancaster, Ohio; and two grandchildren, Austin Pregent and Joslynn Pregent; his brothers, Dave (Debbie) Bible, Kenny (Beverly) Bible, Melvin Bible; his sisters, Arlena Seipel, Lyla (Bud) Bradle, Bonnie Bible, Virginia Bailey, Joyce DeMoranville, Tina Marie Pregent; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 37 years, Shelva Bible Pregent; brothers, Jim Seipel, Kenneth Roy, Frankie Bible and Andrew Pregent; sisters, Peggy Gaston and Shirley Roy; father and mother-in-law, Gerald and Myrtle Bible. Frederick E. Paugh - March 17, 1946 - July 19, 2022

Obituary Preview: Frederick “Fred” E. Paugh, 76, of Thomas, WV, passed away July 19, 2022, at WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital. Born on March 17, 1946, in Benbush, WV, the son of the late Charles Lester and Eulalia “Virginia” (Hawk) Paugh.
Fred proudly served our country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army. He worked as a coal miner for Laurel Run Mines, a heavy equipment operator for the union, and even owned and operated Paugh’s Exxon for over ten years. Fred enjoyed lake fishing, hunting, and spending countless afternoons with his brother and friends. He loved his small-town life and all of those who were in it.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rebecca (Arnold) Paugh, whom he married on June 2, 1973. Also surviving are his daughter, Bethany Cangley and husband Mark, Thomas, WV; three grandchildren, Sydney, Seth and Emerson Cangley all of Thomas, WV; a great-grandchild, Iestyn Bolinger; a brother, Clarence Paugh; a sister, Frances “Bib” White; a special nephew, Scott Paugh along with numerous additional nephews and nieces.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings, Helen Strawser, Charles “Jake” Paugh, Herman Paugh and Daisy Robinson.

An animal lover, she fed strays, cats, dogs, birds and squirrels
She is survived by five step-daughters, Sylvia and husband William Phillips, Ashburn, Virginia, Frances and husband Barry Urquhart, Aiken, South Carolina, Marie and husband Peter McKane, Summit Wisconsin, Nancy Loscar, Ashburn Virginia, and Linda and husband Steve Shaffer, Thomas, West Virginia; two step-sons, Frank "BJ" Loscar, Monterey, Tennessee, and Edward and wife Susan Loscar, Waukegan, Illinois; three sisters, Danica Valentic, Dragica Valentic, and Milka Valentic; and one brother, Ante Valentic.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank J. Loscar, in February, 1992, and one sister, Mila Valentic.

Obituary Preview: Frederic N. "Fritz" Corey ,92 of Davis, WV, passed away on Wednesday July 6, 2022, at his home. He was born December 26, 1929, in Toledo, OH, a son of the late James Leslie DeWitt Corey and Norma Louise (Muth) Corey.
Fritz attended grade schools in Maumee, OH, and Alliance, OH, graduating from Alliance High School in 1947. He matriculated at Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, and graduated with a BS in Civil Engineering in 1951.
He worked for the Boeing Airplane Co. in Seattle, WA, and then entered the US Army Corps of Engineers and served in Korea from 1952 to 1954. Following military service, he was employed by the Republic Steel Corp., followed by over twenty years as Director of Engineering at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, where he also volunteered as an off-shore sailing coach.
He is a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Brownsville, TX.
As a Registered Professional Engineer, he served as president of the local chapter in Annapolis, MD. He was a former member of the Annapolis Yacht Club, the Sailing Club of the Chesapeake, and the Laguna Madre Yacht Club in Port Isabel, TX.
Fritz and his family raced their sailboats, Tomboy and Scamp, on the Chesapeake Bay for many years. During his retirement years, he taught skiing at the Canaan Valley State Park. As a life-long golfer, he recently has enjoyed playing at the Holly Meadows Country Club in Parsons, WV, and the South Padre Island Golf Club in Laguna Vista, TX, where he resided during the winter months.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ruth Joanne (Donaldson) Corey; three daughters, Andrea Kent and husband Ron, Lehigh Acres, FL, Jane Corey, Elkins, WV, Ann Corey McLaughin, Chester, MD; a son, Thomas Corey and wife Susanne, Holland, OH;  Six grandchildren, Moss, Jakin, Elizabeth, Sarah, Abbey and Evan; eight great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James Louis Corey and one sister, Norma Jeanne Donaldson Postel.
Mr. Corey's request for cremation will be honored. There will be a celebration of life held at a later date. The Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Corey family.

Bernadine was a homemaker, hardworking farm girl, wife and mother of six children. She was a member of the Bethel "Texas" United Methodist Church and also a member of the Farm Women's Circle. She was a Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Treasurer and a trustee of the Church. Bernadine was always very active in the church and loved to sing whenever she had the opportunity. She loved hosting family gatherings and she always made sure everyone was well fed. Never meeting a stranger, she welcomed everyone into her home.
Left to cherish her memories are three sons, William "Bill" Bachtel and wife Dianna, Larry Bachtel and wife Jayne, and Gary Bachtel and wife Denise; three daughters, Brenda Cassidy and husband Jack, Eugenia Cassidy, and Twila Amtower and husband Vernon; ten grandchildren, Teresa Bittinger and husband Scott, Shelly Cassidy-Long and husband Mike, Kelly Cassidy and companion Brandon Mitter, Tammy Parsons and husband Leonard, Jason Wood and wife Shawnda, Matthew Bachtel, Amanda Sharp and husband Justin, Ashley Bodkins and husband Josh, McKayla Bachtel and friend Robert, and Willie Bachtel and companion Nikki, and thirteen great-grandchildren, Stephanie Wilson and husband Jimmy, Daniel and Michael Parsons, Brandon, Natalie and fiancé Aaron, and Quentin Wood, Willie, Alex, and Cassidy Sharp, Abigail and Rachel Bodkins, John, Lonnie, and Jimmy Junkins, and one great-great-grandchild, Adalynn Wilson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband on July 25, 2020, Ernest Eugene Bachtel, whom she married on August 9, 1948. Also preceding her in death are two brothers, Chester Roth and wife Glenomi and Charles Roth and wife Carole Sue; a great-grandson, Maison Sharp.

Over ten years ago, he was met with a difficult, life changing event; he lost both of his legs over the course of a couple of years. To some, this would deter them from normal life activities, but Kenny was still determined to live life to its fullest. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Even recently, he was still mowing his grass. Kenny was a Man of Faith and loved his Savior dearly.
Left to cherish his memories is his wife, Shirley Flanagan Mick, whom he married on June 13, 1969. Also surviving are one son, Timothy D. Mick; one daughter Cindy Moats and husband Allen; three grandchildren, Josh Moats, Cody Moats and Austin Moats; one great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Moats; one brother, James Mick; two sisters, Linda Berry and Sharron Mick.

Obituary Preview: Boyd Lawrence Smith, born April 6, 1937, the youngest of eleven children of Oakey Laban and Gertie Jane Allen Smith at Jenningston, Tucker Co., WV, passed away June 10, 2022, at McClay Senior Care in St. Peters, Missouri.
At age one, his family moved to a farm known as Scotts Siding, on the Dry Fork River.  He attended Johnson, a one room school, through eighth grade.  He graduated from Harman School with the class of 1955.  He was a member of FFA and played on the basketball team.  Upon graduation, he joined the United States Air Force.  Basic training was at Sampson Air Force Base in New York.  Upon completion he was stationed at Walker Air Force Base, in Roswell, New Mexico.  Then onto Nouasseur, Morocco in North Africa, where he served with French and Arab airmen.  He returned to West Virginia when his first enlistment was completed.  On the trip home, he met Susanne Thompson.  They were married on August 12, 1961, in Oakland, MD, by Rev. Sherwood at the United Methodist Church.  He reenlisted and served a total of twenty-six and a half years in NC, FL, IN, AK, Labrandor Canada, England, Thailand, NM and Morocco. Upon retiring, he returned to WV and worked four years as a parts person for JF Allen until his youngest daughter graduated high school in Elkins, WV.
Surviving are his wife Susanne; son Boyd Laban Smith and wife Yvette; daughters: Danielle Lynn Tippin and life partner Patrick Tippin; Donna Sue Pfelging and husband Robert; eight grandchildren; Ashley Nichole Sturm and husband Ryan, Amber Danielle Welsh and husband Cory, Adam Lawrence Smith, Shaina Danielle Buford, Harrison Charles, Samantha Leigh, Nathaniel Robert and Benjamin Michael Pfleging;  sister Geraldine Wilking, brother-in-law, Dr. Reginald Cooper; sister-in-law, Debbie Lynn Snelson and husband  Bob and their sons Bobby Duane and wife Jessica and Joshua Earl and wife MaRanda; four great-grandchildren, Coberly Nicole, Joanna Harper, Briggs Daniel Sturm and Ezra Douglas Welsh along with several nieces, nephews, great-nephews, great nieces, all of whom he was very fond of.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, "Maggie" Spencer and husband Virgil, Nettie Cassidy and husband "Buck", Nannie Miller and husband Forrest, Myrtle Pratt, Bailey and husband Bill, Louvene Burns and husband Orville, Jacqueline Cooper; Brothers, William Olem, Lincoln Dale and wife Betty, Oakey Abraham Smith; brother-in-law, Donald Ray "Duck" Thompson.
He loved the Mountains and the great outdoors. He enjoyed hiking, trout fishing, deep sea fishing, watching the animals and birds; the changing of the seasons and the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. He served on the chapel committee at Grissom Air Force Base, IN, and was involved at Valley Bend United Methodist Church in WV.
Boyd received the Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with two oak leaf clusters, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with six oak leaf clusters, Good Conduct Medal with LOLC, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon with five oak leaf clusters, NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon and the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon.
Mr. Smith will be laid to rest in the Smith Cemetery off of Snyder Road, Dryfork, WV. A celebration of life will be held 10:00 am, July 9, 2022, at the Smith Cemetery.  The family wishes to thank Dr. James Gainer, Dr. Jenny Cross, Dr. Jeffrey Jackson and their staff, and the staff at Elkins Physical Therapy.

Harman and Dora Mae Judy Harman. He graduated from Harman High School in 1974. He obtained his auctioneers license and graduated as a Colonel with Robert, his dad, from the Missouri Auction School in Kansas City, MO. They opened and operated their own businesses H & H Auction. He was co-owner and operator of Harman Equipment Sales until it's closing in 2009. Jim was a master mechanic at Baseline Golf in Ocala, FL. He was a gifted welder, excellent mechanic and a motorcycle enthusiast. After his retirement in 2010, he found helping others, fishing, and tinkering with something mechanical. He was an active member of the Harman Volunteer Fire Dept.
On July 14, 2001, he married the former Patricia Hamner, who survives. Also surviving are his daughter Dreama Howell (Patrick) of Beebe, AK, stepdaughter Melissa Jones (David) and stepson, Paul Jennings both of Xenia, OH.
He is survived by four sisters, Christina Curtis (Randy) of Nitro, WV, Denice Cooper (Jeff) of Mill Creek, WV, Rena Cardenas (Miguel) of Rocky Mount, NC, and Rita Armstrong (Bill) of Ocala, FL., 16 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepson Matthew Jennings.

He is also survived by one brother, Carl Smith and one sister, Wanda Rawlings.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Opal, Ella Mae, Annabelle, and Dolores.
Charles is a graduate of Harman West Virginia. He served in the Army for 8 years. He then got a job at Giant Food for 39 years and Walmart for 15 years.

Rachel Virginia Monda - August 01, 1933 - May 01, 2022

Obituary Preview: Sadly, on May 1, 2022, Rachel Virginia Monda (nee Knotts), passed surrounded by her loving family. She was 88.
Born in Aurora, WV, she was the daughter of John James and Eula Dorothy Jane (nee Stemple) Knotts.
Rachel grew up on a farm and was a graduate of Elk Garden High School. At age 23 she came to Glen Burnie where she would settle for her life. She married her dear Carmen M. Monda, Sr. (late) and raised a family together. When her children were able to attend school, she worked to help support the family at Maryland National Bank for a time but returned to be a homemaker. She would say that her musical talent was playing the radio and television and that she couldn't sing for her life. She was however an avid gardener who had a green thumb. It was said that she could pick up a fallen leaf from the floor and actually grow a plant from it. She literally grew everything. She was especially fond of her flowers which she took great pride in. Rachel, enjoyed duckpin bowling, word games and puzzles as well as crochet. She also volunteered at her church in various needed positions. She was a fan of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy and loved her Soap Operas, especially Days of Our Lives. When her children were grown, Rachel worked for the Anne Arundel County Recreations and Parks in Arts and Crafts. She had a positive affinity for babies and children and was known to be able to calm any crying infant. Rachel loved her husband, kids and grandchildren very much.
Surviving Rachel are her devoted daughters, Louise Jane Eskew and Deanna Monda and her wife Marie Daugherty as well as her loving sons Carmen M. Monda, Jr., and James P, Sr., and his wife Julie (nee Adams) Monda. Her memory will be cherished by her beloved grandchildren, James P. Jr., and Brittany Monda, Brandon M. and Brianna M. Eskew and Raymond M. Daugherty. Her brother Clifford Knotts and wife Jean will fondly remember her. Rachel is reunited with her late siblings, Charles, Roy, Mildred, Franklin and Viola in passing.
A graveside service will be held, 11:00 am, Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Father Martin Smay officiating. The Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Monda family at this time.
