He was preceded in death by Edward Garland Bridges, Sr., his father, Virginia King Bridges, his mother, and Edward (Ed) Garland Bridges, Jr, his brother (Brother is survived by his wife Joyce Bridges and his children Delta and Tina).
He survived by his wife Betty Bridges, his daughters January Price and children Jeremy Armes, Sterling Price, and Kathleen Price; his daughter Jacqueline Steadman and her husband Albert Steadman, and son Ronnie Bridges, Jr; His sister Cynthia Robin and her husband Tony; her four Children Karen Clay (Children: Brian, Tyler, Brayden); Jamie Hankins;  Brittany Jones and husband Terrance (Children :Avaya, Izaya); George and Shamika  Mojica (Children: Kay, Kensley, Karter) He survived by many other nieces, nephews, and friends. He had an especially close relationship with his nephew Jesse Whitlow who helped out greatly over the years.
Ronnie was born in Southside Community Hospital October 22, 1956. He and Betty was married December 14,1974 and had been married for over 37 years, living in Amelia County. Ronnie was a skilled craftsman and built cabinets at his business Amelia Woodworks for over 30 years. He was hard working, honest, generous and caring to family and friends. In addition to family and friends he loved cutting grass, using his tractor, and growing plants in his yard.
Family visitation night is Thursday April 28th from 6-8pm, at Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home, 16409 Court St. in Amelia. A memorial service will be held May 7th at 2pm at flower gardens of Ronnie and Betty where he planted several hundred irises last year. They should be in full bloom at this time. He loved sharing his love of plants with others. A time of friendship and sharing will follow at his home.

She is survived by her daughter Carmen Griles, and her siblings Elsie Borum (Jimmy), Ronnie Barden (Faith) and Faye Campbell (Ralph); in-laws Ruth Suarez (Ray) and Jay Griles (Mary Ann), along with numerous nieces, nephews and cherished friends. Louise retired from the Commonwealth of Virginia, Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission after 35 years. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Sunday March 27, at Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home, 16409 Court St. in Amelia.  A chapel service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday March 28, with burial to follow in Rennie Memorial Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his parents Ed and Linda Lanier, his brothers Henry and Horace Lanier, and his son Alan Lanier.  He is survived by his adored wife of 74 years, Evelyn, his brother Ted Lanier (Peggy), sister Betty Lewis, daughters Anne Flippen (Billy), Gail Hutchins (Peter), son Bob Lanier (LuGay), nine grandchildren, and 10 greatgrandchildren.
Carlton served with the 103rd infantry in WWII.  The majority of his career as a seedsman was spent in Amelia County as manager of the Crop Improvement Seed Farm.  Amelia will always be his “home” where he was an active member of the community and longtime member and leader of the Amelia Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon on Tuesday March 29, 2022 at the Amelia Baptist Church with burial following at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery with military honors.  The family will gather in the reception hall of the church at 2pm  for a time of fellowship and invites everyone. . .

Obituary Preview: Colonel Gerald “Jerry” Frank Wyngaard, US Air Force Retired, of Amelia passed away February 17, 2022 in the presence of his loving family.  He proudly served as an officer in the Air Force for 27 years after graduating from the Air Force Academy.  Upon retirement, he began teaching math and coaching high school football.  He carried his teaching to Riverside Regional Jail for several years in a prison ministry.  After earning a degree in theology from Loyola University, he completed studies to become a Catholic Deacon. He faithfully served in this capacity at Good Samaritan and St. Gabriel’s Catholic Churches.  He will be remembered for his endless enthusiasm and generous heart. He is survived by his wife, Candy Wyngaard, five children, daughters April Guminsky and husband Michael, Rebecca Wright and husband Tucker, son Todd Wyngaard and wife Kim, son David Wyngaard and wife Thelma, and son Peter Wyngaard and wife Patty.  He is also survived by siblings Jack Wyngaard, Judy Ebert and Joe Wyngaard.  Jerry was actively involved with his 15 grandchildren. A Rosary service will held at 3:00PM  on Wednesday Feb. 23, 2022 at Good Samaritan Catholic Church in Amelia.  A Christian Wake service will be held with visitation at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church on Winterpock Road in Chesterfield from 5:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday February 23, 2022.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be held also at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Chesterfield at 11:00 AM on Thursday Feb. 24, 2022.  Burial will be at 11 AM on Friday Feb. 25, 2022 at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery 10300 Pridesville Rd. in Amelia with full military honors.  IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, please consider a donation to the Amelia County Food Pantry.

Charles “Charlie” Warren, age 62, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, February 7, 2022 in Farmville, VA. Charlie was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he considered it an honor to serve his country for more than twenty years. He was devoted to his family, retiring in Amelia to be close to his parents and enjoy his golden years. Charlie was a very gifted bowler and loved the game of golf.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Leigh Ann Warren (of Riverside, CA); his mother Flora Carter Marie Warren (of Amelia); his sisters Linda Waggoner (of Panama City, FL) and Joy Hutchison (of Nottoway). He is survived by his father Charles B. Warren (of Amelia); sister Donna Smith and her husband Bo (of Chesterfield), his daughters Amber Davis and her husband Josh (of Farmville), Jenni Thomas and her husband Dan (of Navarre, FL); his 6 grandchildren of whom he was incredibly proud, and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Obituary Preview: Ralph George Hellmer, Jr was born on March 24, 1956 and went to be with Jesus in the early morning hours on February 3, 2022.  He is survived by his wife Janice, a daughter Rebekah  Barnes, a son Ryan Hellmer and his wife Tara, a brother  Keith  Hellmer and his wife Melanie. Ralph was the son of the late Ralph George Hellmer, Sr and the late Vera Foglio Hellmer.  He was preceded in death by his brother Craig Hellmer and a niece Isabel Allen Hellmer. He was a graduate of Wofford University and was born in Washington, D.C. He loved his church family and had never felt so included, loved and accepted as he did at Hope Chapel Foursquare Church. He and his wife moved from Chesterfield to Amelia in 2014.  He worked at Pool Wizard in Farmville.  He loved remodeling his house into his wife's dream farmhouse-style home.  He had just completed his last project  a week ago and had started a major project on the day of his passing. That personified Ralph's entire life.  Doing things for others, always wanting to help and trying to make things better for everyone. He was totally selfless and would give a word of encouragement or engage in long conversations with all that he met. You walked away from Ralph challenged mentally and encouraged spiritually.   Ralph left an indelible impression on everyone he encountered. You could never forget Ralph's quirky personality and inquisitive mind. He loved his church family and had never felt so included, loved and accepted as he did at Hope. He left this earth far too soon, but his memory will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He loved audio and is in heaven trying to find the "perfect frequency" of the heavenly sound system.  He is rejoicing with the angels and would encourage everyone to love & serve the Lord and love each other deeply.
