She was almost 87.  Mother to Louis, Laura, and David, Mother-in-law to Maryann, Vincent and Michele and Grandmother to Christopher and Diana.
Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, she resided in Woodside for most of her life establishing two hair salons, the first in the 1960s and worked at Macy’s hair salon on Queens Boulevard.  She was very passionate about having her clients look their very best. She was known for her smile and her loving nature.  Mom was vivacious and funny and ahead of her time. She would often reward building workers and staff at the Big Six Towers with cookies earning her the nickname of “The Cookie Lady.”

William Gill - September 21, 1964 - April 07, 2024

Departed: 04/07/2024 (Rego Park)
Obituary Preview: William Gill III, known to most as Bill or Billy, passed on peacefully around 5:30 am the morning of April 7, 2024, at the age of 59. He was surrounded by his tribe, overlooking the water, listening to Paul Simon, Billy Joel, and waiting to “get on the boat.” To know Billy was to know that his spirit was made of fire, his bravery was unmatched, and he was a jack of all trades. He was born September 21, 1964 and raised in Broad Channel, where he attended St. Virgilius Elementary School with his “better half,” Catherine, known to most as Cathy. Cathy would become his teenage sweetheart, young bride, and give him four incredible children - he considered his “4 Aces.”
He spent his years hunting and fishing with his father, brothers, extended family, and lifelong friends. He served as one of New York City’s finest in the NYPD throughout the 80's, 90's, and early 2000’s. He built many homes in his community, coached BCAC hockey, and softball, and never turned down the opportunity to grab the karaoke mic.
He was a natural provider and protector, he lived life to the fullest, and he showed unwavering courage until the end of his journey here on earth. He is survived by: his life partner and best friend, Cathy Gill; his parents, Rosemary and William; his brother, Brian “BG” Gill (Jessica); his four children, Nancy (Rich), Willy (Cat), Matt (Eugene), Katie (Maggie); grandchildren, Billy boy & Hailey girl; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He is now reunited with his departed younger brother, Kevin, and many loved ones. Although he left this earth, he will never leave our hearts.

Alanna Marie Conneely - May 05, 1985 - March 23, 2024

Departed: 03/23/2024 (Rego Park)
Obituary Preview: Our beloved Alanna, you may have left us far too soon, but your loving presence will endure forever. Being the first grandchild to the Conneely family, you always held a special place in our hearts. We so looked forward to your yearly visits to Ireland and will always be grateful for the moments we shared. Your aunties, Bernie and Ann, cherish the memories of the daytrips to random locations, the emphasis always being on where we would get the best food at the end of the journey. Your granny, Phil, so enjoyed your visit for Sunday lunch in Caherlistrane, granny’s gravy and roast ham was a must, followed by homemade apple-pie.
No matter how busy things got, you always made time for the people you cared about, and showed us that family always comes first - no matter what. It was special to see you with granny Mamie on a summers evening in Renmore wrapped in blankets, you reading a book while Mamie watched the Chase on TV.
Life for your grannies, aunties, uncles, cousins and friends will never be the same again but we will keep the memory of you alive by cherishing the moments we spent together and remembering a very special person. Love always your aunties Bernie Jordan and Ann Mangan

Lt. William L. Sarrocco - July 31, 1933 - February 07, 2024

Departed: 02/07/2024 (Rego Park)
Obituary Preview: William Louis Sarrocco, brother and uncle, was born on July 31, 1933 (the hottest July 31 st on record), the third and youngest son of Galileo and Ada Sarrocco. His two older brothers, Thomas and Hugo pre- deceased him. He is survived by two younger sisters, Clara Sarrocco and Helen Burns and nine nephews and nieces. Robert and Thomas (deceased), Sarrocco, Jean Foris (Mark), Carol Wasserfall (Scott), John Sarrocco (Diane), Lauraine Bartichek, Patricia Jones (Cliff), Lawrence Burns (Rose) and
Christine Colvin. After high school William served with the United States Army spending two years in Korea during that conflict. Upon his return he worked for a short time at the Aviation Engineering Company and then became a firefighter with the New York City Fire Department. His appointment in May, 1960 was to
Engine 234 in Crown Heights and in February 1979 he was appointed Lieutenant at Engine 317 in St. Albans. He retired in February 1994 after almost 35 years of service. When the 9/11 attack occurred he offered his services at the local fire house as a guardian when the company was deployed to the
World Trade Center tragedy. Billy (Willy to his friends) will always be remembered for his concern, kindness and help to his family, the many charities he supported and for his subtle sense of humor. His favorite TV programs were football, baseball, Jeopardy, the History Channel and Turner Classic Movies. Some of his small pleasures were going to the casino one day a week, and each morning going to Andy’s Deli for coffee and a roll. As their first customer in the morning, he was known as Mr. Willy. One of the last words I remember that he said to me was: “Take care of Helen.” To Helen he said: “Tell Clara I would say an Our Father for her, but I just can’t remember the words.” When he was growing-up on Onderdonk Ave. in Ridgewood, he delivered orders for our father’s grocery store – many customers requested that he be the only delivery boy. He stacked soda bottles for the candy store on the corner for free egg creams. He also helped his two older brothers in selling Christmas trees during the month of December. On Friday evenings he was the time keeper for his brothers’ chess games. With his subtle sense of humor, he often claimed that he was the smartest one in the family because he went to high school for five years! Billy was a leftie and he held a special place at the dinner table next to our father because we did not want to sit next to him and be bumped while
eating. In our growing-up years he played games with my sister and me. One of his tricks was to claim that he had a twin brother, John. If we asked him for something he would say: “I’m John - wait for Bill and ask him.” When we questioned our mother if this were true, the situation was so absurd that she ignored the question. He quickly used her silence as proof of the veracity of the claim. Helen was a weepy child and when she would begin to cry, he would say: “Mom, there she goes again.” One of my earliest memories was being in bed and crying (He had tearful sisters.) and he said – half asleep – “Don’t cry Clara, Biddy is here.” Yes Biddy – we won’t cry anymore because you are in a better place than you have ever been and
where every tear is wiped away. Clara

Departed: 01/29/2024 (Rego Park)
Obituary Preview: Carlos Francisco Stewart, 98, passed away from complications due to pneumonia on Monday, January 29, 2024, surrounded by his family in Queens, New York.
Carlos was born on September 11, 1925, in Arequipa, Peru to Carlos Stewart Llaguno and Lelia Vizcarra Febres. He was the last surviving of their five children: Gladys, Mary, Marcela, and Lelia.
Carlos led a rich, fulfilling, and long life. He was a nomad in his youth, living in Lima before moving to Argentina and places in Europe – he almost became a Franciscan monk during a monastery stay. He eventually landed in Queens, and he met his wife, Lourdes, and together they started a family on 95th Street. He was a file clerk by profession at the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation where he retired after 20+ years. Carlos then started a new career as a volunteer at Elmhurst Hospital, which he did for well over a decade before retiring again. His impact with people at both the foundation and the hospital was so deep that even today friends and colleague recognize, remember, and speak of him fondly.
Carlos loved to ride his bicycle everywhere and then became an avid walker – his “vitamin W” is how he referred to it. Throughout his life, Carlos touched the hearts of many with his gentle nature and inquisitive style. Carlos will be remembered for his generosity, kindness, and most of all as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle.
Carlos is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lourdes Milagros Stewart, his children, Charles Edward Stewart and Lelia Hilda O’Doherty, along with their spouses, Sharon Stewart and Patrick O’Doherty, and his five grandchildren: Nicole, Kayla, Cameron, Patrick, and Samantha.
The family deeply appreciates the love and support during this difficult time and kindly requests that you share memories of their beloved Carlos.
