Obituary Preview: Norma E. “Perky” Morgan, 99, of South Beaver Township, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2022.      Norma was born on August 9, 1922, in Great Bend, Ohio to the late Samuel J. and Joy (Dydell) Perkins. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. Her love of animals was well known as well as her avid reading habits. Norma (Flower) was a former member of the Beaver Falls Kiwanis Club and a former volunteer for Meals on Wheels on College Hill.      In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Wilber “Boob” Morgan, Sr. in 2008; a grandson, Michael Morgan and a brother, Raymond Perkins. Norma is survived by her sons, Wilber L. Jr. (Patricia) Morgan, Greenville, PA, Ronald G. (Judy) Morgan, Canton, GA, and Terry D. (Cathy) Morgan, South Beaver Twp.; a daughter, Deborah D. Gould, South Beaver Twp.; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren and a brother, Richard (Barbara) Perkins.      A memorial service will be held by her family at a later date.      The family requests that any tributes be sent to their local chapter of the ASPCA

Obituary Preview: George A. Freed, 57, of Koppel, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, in his residence with his family at his side.
Born on December 25, 1964, in Beaver Falls, he was a son of the late Morris D. and Barbara A. (Golnick) Freed. George was a truck driver for most of his life, but when he wasn’t driving trucks, he enjoyed building models, going to the casino, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his fiancé, Marilyn Rokar, of Koppel; children, Jessica (fiancé Jeremy McWilliams) Freed, of Chippewa, and Michael Rambo, of Darlington; three grandchildren, Mackenzie, Haeyden, and Jeremy Jr.; siblings, Duane (Sherry) Freed, of Orlando, FL., Lynn (Jody) Fleener, of Wampum, Robert (Donna) Freed, of Ellwood City, and Tyrone Freed, of New Castle; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Abbigail Faith McWilliams.
Friends will be received on Monday from 5:00 until time of service at 7:00 PM in the HILL AND KUNSELMAN FUNERAL HOME, INC- 3801 4th Avenue, College Hill. Pastor Dave Keppen will be officiating the service.
Private interment will take place in Grandview Cemetery.

Obituary Preview: Jean (Linton) Hemphill, 100, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Beaver Falls, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2022, at the Reformed Presbyterian Home.
Born on October 15, 1921, in Denison, Kansas, she was the daughter of the late William and Vida (Cathcart) Linton. Jean was a graduate of Geneva College where she received the Life G Award. She was a secretary for the Board of Trustees of Geneva College for 40 years, a member of the College Hill Women’s Club and Geneva Reformed Presbyterian Church, where she also served as secretary.
In addition to her parents, Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Willard E. Hemphill, who passed in 2003; son, William E. (Mary Lou) Hemphill; and brother-in-law, Roy McDonald.
She is survived by her sons, Rev. Robert L. (Cheryl) Hemphill, of Laramie, Wyoming, and James W. (Gail) Hemphill, of Beltsville, Maryland; grandchildren, Johanna (Sean) O’Sullivan, of Windsor, Colorado, Mary Eve (Joe) Hemphill, of St. Louis, Missouri, Paul (Megan) Hemphill, of Fresno, California, Lindsey (Joe) Alder, of University Park, Maryland, Samuel (Michelle) Hemphill, of Beltsville, Maryland, Emily (Jovan) Severin of Laurel, Maryland and Andrew Hemphill (Fiancée – Ashley) of Holland, Michigan; fifteen great-grandchildren; sister, Frances McDonald, of Beaver Falls, and many beloved nephews and nieces scattered far and wide.

Richard E. "Pete" Forney - August 14, 1937 - April 05, 2022

Obituary Preview: Richard E. “Pete” Forney, 84, of Ellwood City, passed away from a broken heart and a brief battle with Cancer.  He passed peacefully surrounded by his family.  He is now back in the arms of his beloved wife of 63 years, Beverly.
Pete was born on August 14, 1937, in Eastvale. He loved his family first and foremost before anything.  He was an amazing husband, father, Papa, brother, and uncle.  He will be missed terribly by all.  Pete had a never-ending circle of friends, some new and some lifelong.  His passions were fishing, hunting and of course Neon Lights.  He loved spending time at his camp where he welcomed all at any time.  You could always find Pete at the firepit with a cold beer in hand.  It is there that he was the happiest. He was a member of the Owls Club of Beaver Falls, Beaver Falls Turners, the Sheffield VFW Post 8755, and the Sheffield Rod & Gun Club.
Pete is preceded in death by the love of his life, Beverly (Leech) Forney; and parents, George, and Marybelle (Large) Cowan.
He is survived by a son, Scott (Fiancé Sharon Taranto) Forney, of Ellwood City; a daughter, Robin (Mark) Kania, of Baden; four grandchildren, Richard S. Forney, Lisa M. (Guy) McGaughey, all of Texas, Dale (Jennifer) Lipan, of South Carolina, and Dustin (Christina) Braden, of Butler; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Nancy Steffen, of New Brighton; numerous nieces, nephews; and his beloved Chihuahua, Chico.
There will be no services per his wishes.  He would want all to celebrate his life and not mourn it.

Obituary Preview: Helen Jean (Fields) Brown, 87, of Beaver Falls, passed peacefully on April 4th, 2022, in the loving care of the staff at Crawford County Care Center in Saegertown, PA after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Jean was born February 17th, 1935, to Floyd J. and Francis M. Fields. She graduated from Beaver Falls High School in 1953 and sang her alma mater with pride up until the end. Jean worked for McDaniels and the Salvation Army Corps Community Center for many years before retiring and working as a lunch monitor for Blackhawk School District.
Jean loved country music and enjoyed attending fairs and seeing her favorite singers in concert, especially Travis Tritt. She was a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan and also enjoyed watching Mountaineer football and basketball. She loved dogs, and fondly remembered her horse Gypsy Queen while growing up on the family farm that she very much loved. She was a hard worker all her life and rarely sat idle for any length of time. Due to her fighting spirit and stubbornness, she was able to survive many personal tragedies during her lifetime; and her sarcasm and tenacity made her the spunky darling of her wing in the Care Center for the past 5 years.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert Fields, aunt Helen McFadden, her son-in-law Daniel Oprisu, and her beloved dog Skeeter.
She is survived by her daughter Sherry (Mussey) Oprisu of Greensburg, Terry (Mussey) Shasteen (Joe) of North Carolina, and Kelly (Brown) Parker of Meadville, as well as son-in-law Dean Parker of Edinboro and six grandchildren: Angela (Shasteen) Harpell of North Carolina, Stacy (Oprisu) Giles and Jennifer Oprisu of Greensburg, Ashley (Shasteen) Floreno of Alabama, and Allison and Jacob Parker of Meadville. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren.

Born January 13, 1932 in Beaver Falls son of the late James. W. & Evelyn (Hulton) Johnson.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran during the Korean War and retired from the former Babcock and Wilcox Tubular Products Company as an electrician after 30 years of service. He was a member of the 1st Church of Christ,  East Palestine and the Moose Lodge, East Palestine.
He is survived by his wife Linda M (Goss) Cowan Johnson; Children James F. & Monica Johnson, Rose Valley, PA; Bruce & Susan Johnson, Beaver; Marguerite & Jay Hunt, Chippewa Twp and Karen A. Johnson & Dee Jones, Ocean Isle Beach, NC.  A step-son Daniel Cowan, Ellwood City, PA;  Ten grandchildren and Seven great-grandchildren and a brother Jerry Johnson, East Liverpool, OH.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his 1st wife Mary Lou Johnson, Oct. 29, 2002.

Anthony F. "Tony" Cantelmi - April 20, 1929 - March 26, 2022

Obituary Preview: Anthony F. “Tony” Cantelmi, 92, a lifelong resident of Beaver Falls, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Cambridge Village where he resided.
Tony was a son of the late Panfilo and Helen (Muto) Cantelmi born on April 20, 1929. He graduated from the former St. Fidelis High School Seminary for boys in Butler and Duquesne University, where he received a degree in Education. Tony started his career as a teacher at Beaver High School. Then transferred to Neal Elementary School in Midland where he was a guidance counselor for many years. Later retiring in 1990 as the Athletic Director for Beaver High School.
Anthony was a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean War.
Tony was a member of St. Monica Parish, Chippewa Twp. and the former St. Philomena Parish, College Hill.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 65 years, Frances (Prato) Cantelmi, Beaver Falls; their five children and their spouses, Cecelia Sheridan, Jacksonville, FL, Gregory Cantelmi, New Galilee, Clare Potter (Mark), Alexandria, VA, Christopher Cantelmi (Amanda), Beaver Falls, Elizabeth Trombetta (Vince), Monaca; seven grandchildren, Jason Sheridan (Kasie), Ian Sheridan, Alexis Oetter (Eric), Vanessa Dillon (Elliot), Jordan Trombetta, Anthony Cantelmi, Olivia Cantelmi; a great granddaughter, Evalina; a sister and brother-in-law, Anna Marie Colao (Veto), Beaver Falls; nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Cantelmi, 2006.

Obituary Preview: It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alan Mathew Wickline, on Saturday, March 26, 2022. Formerly of Beaver Falls he was currently living in Brentwood where he was a barber. Al owned and operated Buck Fitty Mobile Barber. He will be remembered for his extreme perfection as a barber. From the time he was a young man, he was always so meticulous with the way he presented himself. His shoes were many and perfect, always in style. He was always well groomed. When we would come together as a family he always made us laugh, no matter the circumstance.
He will be sadly missed by his daughter, Billie Marie Bruce, Koppel; a sister, Jordan Orlovsky, Brighton Twp.; Donna Cortese, Patterson Twp. who was like a mother to him; his uncles and mentors, the late Michael Wickline and “Pastor” Anthony Cortese; close cousins, Justin Best, Jake Wickline, Tony Cortese and good friends, Stephanie and Brandon.
In addition to his uncle, he was preceded in death by his parents, Alan T. Wickline and Nanci (Paxton) Miller; paternal grandparents, Lysle and Molly Wickline and maternal grandparents, Bob and Norma Paxton.
Alan was a dedicated supporter of Living Water Baptist Church in Ellwood City.
The family is planning a special day at the end of May to honor the memory of Alan Mathew.

Obituary Preview: Linda Ann Bowers, 73, of New Sewickley Township, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2022. Born on July 4, 1948, in Beaver Falls, she was the daughter of Richard and Rose (Varady) Stanyard.
Linda was an avid Steelers fan and enjoyed Penn State Football. She was a lover of all animals, but dogs and horses had a special place in her heart.
Linda is survived by her daughter, Stacy Bowers; son, Robert Bowers, Jr.; three grandchildren, Zac Wilson, Samuel Mielke, and David Freed; and brother, Richard (Joyce) Stanyard. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Terri Wilson.
As per the family’s request, all services were private, and inurnment took place in Grandview Cemetery.
The family of Linda would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Life Beaver County for their assistance in her final days, as well as her social worker Lisa.

Obituary Preview: Albert George Dainton, 83, of North Sewickley Twp., passed away suddenly on Thursday, March 17, 2022.
He will be sadly missed his wife of 58 years, Carole M. Dainton (Loughner), North Sewickley Twp.; a daughter, Suellen Wiles, Plum Borough; a son, Albert John Dainton, Washington D.C., a granddaughter, Cassie Wiles, Plum Borough; his twin brother, Curt (Jan) Dainton, Beaver Falls; a sister, Karen Freeman, Beaver Falls; a sister-in-law, Susan Loughner, Beaver Falls and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Al was born on September 3, 1938 in New Brighton to the late John and Florence “Flossie” (Richards) Dainton. As a youth, he hit the first over-the-fence home run at the little league fields in Beaver Falls. He graduated from Beaver Falls High School in 1957 and attended Geneva College majoring in Chemistry and played baseball. He earned his master’s degree in Technology from Clarkson College in New York. After attaining his master’s, Al continued his education by studying many additional hours and never stopped learning. Upon graduation, he went on to teach Chemistry and Physics at Rochester and Beaver High Schools, where in addition to teaching he was a beloved assistant baseball and football coach. Upon retirement, he also taught at Geneva College.
Al served his community as a member of the North Sewickley Sewer Authority and was a leading member of the Beaver Falls Lions Club. In 2006, he was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow Award for dedicated humanitarian services by Lions Club International. He was also an active member of the North Sewickley Presbyterian Church where he served in many roles. When not serving in his community, he could be found in his backyard gardening or simply enjoying the outdoors by golfing with close friends. He was loved by so many and will be greatly missed.
Friends will be received Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the HILL AND KUNSELMAN FUNERAL HOME, www.hillandkunselman.com , 3801 Fourth Avenue, Beaver Falls, where a service will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. his minister, Pastor Bob Goosen will officiate. Born on April 12, 1938, in New Brighton, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Laura B. (Thomas) Goehring. Laura was an organist at the Chippewa United Methodist Church where she was also a member of. She managed the Blackhawk High School Cafeteria before retiring in 2000. In the free time that she had, Laura enjoyed gardening and traveling to see her children.
She is survived by her loving husband, John Romano; children, Crystal (James R.) Presto, of Kennesaw, Georgia, and John Jr. (Debbie) Romano, of Sebastian, Florida; grandchildren, Jeremy (Trisha) and Tahra Presto, and Sarah and Jennifer Romano; step-grandson, T.J. Sparks, of Vero Beach, Florida; seven great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Michele Romano, of Vero Beach, Florida; brother, Henry Goehring; niece, Lynn; and nephew, John.
In addition to her parents, Laura is preceded in death by her son, William J. Romano.

Born on October 10, 1960, in Aliquippa, she was the daughter of Joann (Sevick) and the late Robert Zanker. Jean graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor’s degree in Information Sciences and Technology. She used her degree to then become an engineer working for Fed-ex. She was a truly unique, wonderful, and beautiful soul whose presence impacted everyone she encountered.
Jean is survived by her loving husband, Mark Shingleton; children, Amanda (Nick) Burzese, Shane (Cindy) Jobe, Jonathan (Kaylee) Shingleton, Carli (Ed Payne) Shingleton, and Aaron Shingleton; grandchildren, Valentina, Ethan, Nevaeh, Gabriel, Leonidas, Chase, Harper, Alexa, and two on the way; brothers, Bob (the late Debbie) Zanker, and Alan (Paula) Zanker; best friend, who felt more like a sister, Cindy Fitzgerald-Plocinik; four brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her father, she is preceded in death by her mother-in-law whom she cared about very much, Shirley Shingleton.

Nancy Jane Simmons - February 12, 1935 - February 17, 2022

Obituary Preview: Nancy Jane (Ritchie) Simmons, 87, of Beaver Falls, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday February 17th, 2022. Nancy will forever be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.  She rejoins the love of her life, Thomas, her husband of 55 years.
Born February 12, 1935, in Beaver Falls, the daughter of the late Eva (Farrall) and Claire Ritchie.  Nancy was a graduate of the Beaver Falls class of 1953.  She worked at JCPenney’s in Beaver Falls for many years.  She started as a stock person while she was still in high school and worked there until the early 80’s.  During this time, she was also heavily involved in the Beaver Falls Football Boosters.  She then became the secretary for M & S Racing Enterprise in Freedom, until the business was sold in 2003.  During this time, she also cherished taking care of her grandchildren while they were young.  Her family was her life, she spent many years at the dragstrip with her husband Tom and the rest of their family.  She was also a former member of the Fairlane Club and Mid-Ohio Ford Club. Through Tom and Nancy, a multigenerational love for racing was born and will be carried on.
Nancy is survived by her children; Jodi (Peter) Zwieryznski, Beaver Falls, PA, Deborah (Spencer) Williams, Beaver Falls, PA, Sean (Tracy) Simmons, New Waterford, OH, Lorraine D’Andrea (Rob), Braintree, MA and Carol “Cas” Hirst, Easton, MA.

Born on August 2, 1924, in New Brighton, she was a daughter of the late Domenic and Roseline (Pontier) Gaudio. Ange was a member of the St. Monica Parish.
She is survived by her loving husband of almost 75 years, Eugene “Geo” Guzzetti; daughter, Bunnie (the late Patrick) McShane; granddaughter, Amy (Timothy Shank) McShane; sister, Teresa Steppe; brothers-in-law, Matt Poggi and Augie Cosentino; sister-in-law, Diane Du Four Gaudio; numerous nieces and nephews; and special nieces and nephews, Tom, Terri, Jean, and Jim Steppe.
In addition to her parents, Ange is preceded in death by her sisters, Mary (George) Basile, Martha Cosentino, and Nancy Poggi; brother, Ralph (Alverta) Gaudio; in-laws, Dr. Albert (Freda) Guzzetti and Josie (Les) Blackwood; and brother-in-law, James Steppe.

Born April 24, 1946, in Beaver Falls, he was a son of the late Ernest & late Victoria (Galonski) Pelaia.
Don was a humble, most honest & loyal family man with a strong work ethic and a great sense of humor and a strong faith. He valued family above all else. He treasured the Ocean City, MD family vacations, loved his hobby of building street rods, but many times said “it’s only a hobby” because family came first. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, New Brighton. He and his brothers were fierce Fighting Tiger fans, and you could always find them in the alley for the Friday night games. “Once a Tiger, Always a Tiger”. Pap-Pap most dearly loved his grandchildren visiting and sleeping overnight.
Don graduated from Beaver Falls High School in 1963 and began a 52-year career in structural steel detailing & design. He knew all aspects of structural steel from detailing to fabrication to field work and loved his trade. He was retired from Finite Design, Inc. in Canonsburg, PA.
He leaves his wife, his high school sweetheart, Nadia (Hudak) Pelaia; his daughters and 3 sons in law, Amy Pelaia, Oakdale; Joy (Sean) Tanner & their 4 children, Madison Yonlisky, Sean, Anna, & Max, Midland; Lisa (Bill) Nardone & their 3 children, Adrienne, Angelina, & Will, Ellwood City; Jennifer (Tony) Joseph & sons Anthony & Gino, Ellwood City; 1 great grandson, Alex Jackson; 2 brothers & 2 sisters in law, Mick Pelaia; Bob (Nancy) Pelaia; Sandie Pelaia; 1 sister & brother in law, Regina (John) Main. Also survived by many loving nieces & nephews.

Don graduated from Rochester High School in 1945. He served in the United States Army during World War II as a Tech Sergeant. He retired from Babcock and Wilcox Tubular Products in 1987 after 40 years as a Supervisor in the Laboratory.
Don was a lifetime member of St. John Burry’s Church, formerly St. John’s Evangelical Protestant Church, in New Sewickley Twp. He was a 70-year member of the Big Knob Grange where he had served on the Big Knob Fair Board for over 55 years and their Finance Committee. He was also a member of Beaver Pomona Grange and the Pennsylvania and National Granges’.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Sella Jane (Cooper) Shaffer, whom he married on October 2, 1947; two brothers, Robert and Clair Shaffer and a brother-in-law, Merrill Pflug.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Shirley Shaffer, West Mayfield and Jeffrey and Lori Shaffer, Chippewa Twp.; two granddaughters, Brittnee (Bo) Ruffner and Bridgette Shaffer; a great granddaughter, Blakelee Ruffner; a brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and JoAnn Shaffer, Rochester; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Hilda Pflug, Marion Twp. and Nancy and Paul Alexander, New Brighton and two sisters-in-law, Julia Shaffer, New Brighton and Cathleen Shaffer, Beaver.
A private funeral service was held for his family. His pastor, Reverend John Fanella officiated. Interment followed in St. John Burry’s Cemetery in New Sewickley Twp.

Obituary Preview: Beatrice Flora and Duane Earl Arisman, both 90 of Enon Valley. Bea peacefully went to be with Jesus on Friday, February 4,2022. Duane was reunited with her on Tuesday, February 8,2022 together they will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Duane was born on March 2,1931 in Jennerstown, PA to the late Lawrence and Emma (Weaver) Arisman. Bea was born close by in Gray, PA on August 27th of the same year, to the late John and Helen (Nellie) Rose.
On August 21,1954 they married in Jennerstown, PA, a marriage lasting 67 years. After serving with the United States Air Force for four years, Duane and Bea settled in Beaver Falls, and later moved to Chippewa Twp. where they raised their three children.
Bea was a very gifted seamstress and excelled at intricate painting of ceramics, especially dolls. Lovingly known as “Aunt Bea”, she babysat many children in her home in years past.
Duane was a pipefitter and welder for Babcock and Wilcox until its closing. He later worked for T L Ferguson until he retired.
For 16 years Duane and Bea portrayed Santa and Mrs. Claus working in malls in Maryland, Florida and North Carolina. Bea designed and sewed all their Santa costumes.
In later years they moved to their son’s farm in Enon Valley where Bea enjoyed gardening, flowers and bird watching. Duane gardened and helped on the farm. He was still driving tractor up to and including the 2021 Fall planting season. They also enjoyed getting away to spend time at their cottage at Mahaffey Camp.
They were faithful long-time members of Chippewa Alliance Church. Bea longed to be in Heaven with her Savior Jesus Christ and Duane longed to be wherever Bea was.
They were preceded in death by two babies, David and Richard; Bea’s brother and sister, John Rose and Martha Stern and Duane’s brother and sister, Donald and DoraEtta Arisman.
They will be sadly missed by a son and daughter-in-law, Duane Arisman Jr. and Christine, Enon Valley; a son, Mark Arisman, Kingsville, MD; a daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Tom Gaffney, West End, NC; nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren and Bea’s sister, Barbara Grace, Chippewa Twp.
Friends will be received Friday from 12 Noon until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. in the Chippewa Alliance Church, 3629 37th Street Ext., Beaver Falls with Reverend Dan Muir.

She was also a former manager for Bain’s Deli in the Beaver Valley Mall.
Joan was a devoted member of St. Monica Parish in Chippewa.
Joan is survived by her loving husband, Edward DeRose; their three children, Susan DeRose, Lafayette, CO, Edward A. DeRose, Beaver Falls, and Drew DeRose (Roger Savonen), Boston, MA; two grandsons, Lucas DeRose and Edward DeRose III and his wife Wendy; three great-grandchildren, Vincent, Mila and Indica DeRose; a sister, Marie Tooch and the late Bevo, Chippewa Twp. and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Beatrice Matteo.
Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM in the HILL AND KUNSELMAN FUNERAL HOME, www.hillandkunselman.com , 3801 Fourth Avenue, Beaver Falls, where prayers will be recited Friday at 10:20 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Monica Parish, 116 Thorndale Drive, Chippewa Township with Father Kim Schreck as Celebrant.

Obituary Preview: Susan E. “Susie” Johnson, 69, of Patterson Twp. passed away unexpectantly Sunday, February 6, 2022 at her residence.
Susie was born on October 20, 1952 in Rochester, NY to the late Leland and MaryEllen (Baker) Johnson. She grew up in Wilkesboro PA and Gales Ferry CT, and moved to Beaver Falls when her dad was named director of the New Brighton YMCA . She graduated from Beaver Falls High School and received her BA in education from Westchester University. During the 1970s she worked for the former Bob Capo Furniture store in New Brighton, throughout the 1980s she was an Electrical Estimator for Sargent Electric during Beaver Valley -U2’s construction.
In the early 1990s she committed herself to be a better bobbin-lace maker, grew proficient and became a renowned Lace teacher. Susie started and guided many students to becoming better lace makers and showed them that nothing was out of their reach. She became familiar with many styles of lace and her favorite became Withof Duchesse which she studied with Jeannet Van Oord for over 20 years and under Sister Judith in the Netherlands, receiving a coveted certification qualifying her to teach Withof Duchesse. She also enjoyed Bucks Point, an English Point Ground lace, under Pam Nottingham and went on to teach that also. Susie taught in many places across the States and in England and was one of the first American teachers to teach with Ulrike Lohr  Voelcker (Germany) and Cathrine Barley at the lace workshop in Newbury England in 2011. She taught for the IOLI, the international lace group here in America and for many groups across the country, including Finger Lake Lace Days, Lace Days at Sweet Briar (VA) and especially enjoyed demonstrating at the Maple Syrup Festival with the Five Rivers Bobbin Lace Group, the Vicary House Museum and the Somerset Fall Festival. She earned the respect and admiration of her numerous students around the world for her constant attention to detail, patience and kindness whatever their skill levels. She always cherished her travels with the many visiting instructors and friends from Europe and America.
She was an excellent from scratch cook and her pies will be very much missed at family and lace gatherings -  the late Coach Walton didn’t stop by to just talk football. She nurtured a small but great garden and had a catnip patch for the neighborhood felines.
She supported her husband’s Finnish heritage and baked a cardamom flavored coffee-cake the older Finns called “nisu”.
She will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 41 years, Keith Hongisto; a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Dean Ambrose, Parker, PA; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Shannon Johnson, Pulaski, PA; nieces, several nephews, nieces and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Nancy is preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Dick” W. Ellinwood, who died in 2001, and a daughter, Susan Mamone in 2020.
She is survived by her daughters, Lisa (Matt) Hornyack, of Rochester, Rikki Karczewski, of New Brighton, and Terri Ellinwood, of Beaver Falls; son, Mark Ellinwood, of Beaver Falls; nine grandchildren, Michael Karczewski, Michael (Carly) Mamone, Matthew Karczewski, Kristina (Adam) Crepp, Alena (Justin Pratt) Mamone, Jessica (Nick DeChicko) McCutcheon, Kourtney (Matt Abel) McCutcheon, Lauren (Wes) Libert, and Ben Swearingen; nine great-grandchildren, Haleigh, Zachary, Savanna, Austin, Luca, Garrett, Wyatt, Lena and Skylar, and her brother, Thomas Blount, High Point, NC.

Obituary Preview: Dale Thomas Teaford, 90, of Butler, formerly of Patterson Township, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully, January 31, 2022.
Born October 31, 1931, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, he was the eldest child of the late Dale Clarence and Hazel Gill Teaford; grandson of the late Thomas William and Lillie McGraw Teaford and the late James Clifford and Margaret Myers Gill.
Dale was a 1949 graduate of Beaver Falls High School, and spent much of his time during his high school years in the Patterson Township area around Taylor’s Service Station and Waite’s … and was one of the “original” Taylor’s Bums. During his early years, he spent a lot of his free time playing in softball and basketball leagues, even coaching some youth church basketball at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.
In 1952, he married his wife of 62 years, Lois Catharine Cunning. When asked what attracted him to her, he said he liked the way she walked! They started their early marriage in Mississippi, where Dale was serving in the United States Air Force.
After leaving the Air Force, Dale joined his father as a painting contractor (Teaford Painting). When they closed the painting business in 1964, he went to back to school, becoming a computer programmer/analyst and worked successively for Mellon Bank, Gulf Oil, and eventually retiring from Mobay (Bayer) Corporation in 1997.
After retirement, he and his wife, Lois, enjoyed working around their house, traveling to visit family in Georgia and Florida. They even took a “once in a lifetime” trip to tour Europe, where they reconnected in Germany with the two exchange girls they had hosted during the 1980s, and met their parents.
Known as Dedad to his family … He is survived by two daughters, Daylelynn (Richard) Davis, Atlanta, Georgia, and Dawnlyn (William) Valli, Darlington, Pennsylvania; two sons, Donald Teaford, Perkinston, Mississippi, and Derrick Teaford (Diann DeAngelis), Butler, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, Donald Thomas Teaford, Perkinston, Mississippi, Jack Dale (Jessica) Davis II, Grayson, Georgia, Tyler Adam (Megan) Davis, Tunnel Hill, Georgia, Jill Kathryn Davis, Petaluma, California, John (Judd) Ferguson Haney, Darlington, and Raena Elizabeth Valli, Darlington; three great-grandsons, Eli Teaford, Richard Scott Davis II and Augustus Jackson Davis; four great-granddaughters, Charli Kate, Milly “Moo”, Addi Ruth, and Pheobe Rose Davis; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lois Catharine Cunning Teaford in 2013, and his sister Alice Marie Teaford Burgess in 2014.
His ashes will be interred in the Lillyville Church of God Cemetery, Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, near his wife. Friends and family will be invited (at a later date) to an “ice cream social” to celebrate Dale’s life and his most favorite food … ice cream.
