Jackie L. "Jack" Pyle - September 08, 1938 - April 25, 2022

Obituary Preview: Jackie L. “Jack” Pyle, 83 of Chicora passed away early Monday morning April 25, 2022 while in the comfort of his home following a courageous battle with cancer.
Jackie was born in Walkchalk, Armstrong County on September 8, 1938.   He was the son of the late Max Sr. and Nellie Mae Toy Pyle.
He was a graduate of Fairview Township Karns City High School.  He was of the protestant faith.  Jack had a strong work ethic and was a mine foreman working in the coal mines for nearly 40 years and was later employed by Trinity Industries in Butler.  Jack enjoyed watching the races at Lernerville and looked forward to attending Cody and Kaden’s demolition derbies and Farm Show events and races.  He enjoyed the company of his family, especially the grandkids and great grandkids, listening to blue grass music, hunting and fishing and the company of his dogs, “Trip” and “Taz” and his cat, “Cat”.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Judy A. Patton Pyle on February 5, 2011.  The couple was married in McGrann on October 24, 1959.
Surviving are five children, Jackie Shelatree and her husband, Roger, of Butler, Jodi Williams and her husband, David,  of Chicora, John Pyle and his wife, Amy, of Harrisville, and James “Jim” Pyle and his wife, Sharon, of Butler, and Jeff Pyle and his wife, Barb, of Petrolia;  16 grandchildren, Nathan, Jen, Nikki, Justin, Cory, Zach, Sam, Ben, Jake, Taylor, Jesse, Josh, Kate, Luke, Cody and Chris;  3 step grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren;  a sister, Delores Boltz and her husband, Foster, of Kittanning; his mother-in-law, Alice Kravenor Patton Toy of Kittanning, as well as a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law , nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents and wife, Jack was preceded in death by a son, Jamie Pyle, who died January 15, 2022; three sisters, eight brothers; his father-in-law, and a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

L. Wilson Downing - February 26, 1934 - April 21, 2022

Obituary Preview: L. Wilson Downing, 88, of Brady’s Bend, went to be with the Lord Thursday evening, April 21, 2022 at UPMC Magee in Pittsburgh.
Wilson was born in East Brady on February 26, 1934.  He was the son of the late Edward C. and Florence M. Shawl Downing.
Wilson was a 1954 graduate of East Brady High School.   He was a long time member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Brady’s Bend and a member of the Knights of Columbus Emlenton Council.  He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Brady’s Bend  American Legion Post and faithfully participated in the post’s joint funeral honor guard with the Chicora American Legion. For nearly a half century Wilson was a well-known and highly respected PIAA football and basketball official and continued officiating until he was 80 years old.  He had been employed at INDSPEC in Petrolia and retired in 1994 as maintenance supervisor following 31 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine P. Olcus Downing, whom he married at St. Patrick Church in Brady’s Bend on January 24, 1959.  Also surviving are two sons, Joseph W. Downing and his wife, Barbara of Bentleyville and John E. Downing ad his wife, Linda, of San Diego, CA; two grandsons, Luke C. Downing and Paul Joseph Downing, both of San Diego, CA; a sister-in-law, Blanche Downing of East Brady, as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles E. and David H. Downing, and a sister, Dorothy Evelyn Slaugenhoup, as well as a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora, from 1-3 p.m. Tuesday.  A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Harley E. Flick - February 24, 1947 - April 21, 2022

Obituary Preview: Harley E. Flick, 75, a well-known Chicora resident, passed away late Thursday evening, April 21, 2022 at The Embassy in Saxonburg.
Harley was born in Butler on February 24, 1947.  He was the son of the late Robert M. Sr. and Leona E. Hilderbrand Flick.
He was a 1965 graduate of Butler High School.  Harley had been employed by Pullman Standard in Butler until its closing and later owned and operated residential and commercial rental properties in Chicora.  He was a well-known manager/bartender at the former Landmark Hotel in Chicora. He was a Roman Catholic and had most recently been attending St. Patrick Church in Brady’s Bend.  He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam era and the long time commander of the former VFW Post in Chicora, a life member of the Chicora American Legion Post and charter member of The Sons of the American Legion in Chicora.  Harley was a member of the Friends of the NRA in Armstrong Co., RC Men’s Club in Herman, Happy Hunter’s Club in Fenelton, Donegal Grange, and the Chicora Moose Lodge for more than 50 years.  Harley was the organizer and and co-marshal, along with his good friend, Renny King, of the annual Chicora Memorial Day parade for many years.  Harley was the president and player/manager of the Chicora Softball League for more than forty years.  Harley had been an active member of Chicora VFD and was an ambulance driver for many years.
He is survived by siblings, Robert M. “Bob” Flick Jr. and his wife, Kimberly, of Karns City, Randall Flick and his wife, Beth, of Fenelton, and Kathleen E. Elder of Butler; nine nieces and nephews, Robbie, Alan, Amber, Bobby, Abby, Anna Mae, David, Amy, and Cory, as well as a number of great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and her husband, Beverly and Richard Miller.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora, from 2-6 p.m. Monday. A service outside of mass will follow at 6:30 p.m. with the Rev. Richard L. "Doc" Holliday - October 30, 1955 - April 20, 2022

Obituary Preview: Richard L. “Doc” Holliday, 66, of Chicora, passed away following a brief illness on Wednesday morning, April 20, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot, while surrounded by his family.
Richard was born in Brookville, Jefferson County on October 30, 1955. He was the son of the late Melvin L. and Katherine E. Kamerer Holliday. He was a 1973 graduate of Karns City Area High School, and a member of the McKee Chapel United Methodist church in Fenelton. In his earlier years, Doc was employed at Friedman’s in Chicora, and was a truck driver for most of his working life. Richard was most recently employed at Walmart in Butler. Doc was an avid car enthusiast, and enjoyed building model cars. He also enjoyed watching old movies on TV, most especially westerns, and visiting with his friends.
Richard was a very patriotic American, and was proud of his service in the US Army during the Vietnam Era, earning the rank of Specialist E-4 while stationed in Germany.
Richard’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to his caregivers at the Good Samaritan Hospice.
Richard is survived by two sisters, Marjorie Hillwig and her husband Darrel, of Bruin, and Lisa D. Heilman, of Leechburg; his nieces and nephews, Michael Hillwig (Matt Shea), of Pittsburgh, Darcie Paule (David), of Fenelton, and Logan A. Heilman, of Leechburg; his great-nieces and nephews, Sarah, Garrett, and Ella; as well as a number of cousins and friends.

Celie L. "Sue" Gladys - July 29, 1935 - April 18, 2022

Obituary Preview: Celie L. “Sue” Fennell Gladys, 86, of Chicora, went home to be with her Lord early Monday, April 18, 2022.  “Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss, and ends with a teardrop.”
Celie was born in Chicora on July 29, 1935.  She was the daughter of the late Harold “Ching” and Alice Stevenson Fennell.
Sue, as she was affectionately known to her family, was a 1953 graduate of Chicora High School.  In her earlier years, Sue worked as a nurses aide. In her later years, she enjoyed babysitting in her home and baking cakes.
Sue was a member of the Chicora United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Cheerful Workers Class.
Celie was married to Leo Gladys on April 27, 1968 in Ford City.  Mr. Gladys preceded her in death on March 11, 2020.
Surviving to cherish her memory are two daughters, Tracy Waltman and her husband, Bob, of Butler and Susan Green and her husband, Tom, of Chicora; four grandchildren, with whom Sue love spending time with and considered them special joys of her life, Kinsey Green of Erie, Cameron Green and his wife, Makayla, of Chicora, and Kassidee and Alexis Waltman of Butler; two sisters-in-law, Geri Fennell of Denham Springs, LA and Pat Ross of Boardman,OH; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and very close friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, and a brother-in-law.

Anna C. Dunlap - April 22, 1929 - April 05, 2022

Obituary Preview: Anna C. Dunlap, 92, a lifelong Chicora resident, went to be with the Lord Tuesday morning, April 5, 2022 at Sugarcreek Rest.
Anna was born in Chicora on April 22, 1929.  She was the daughter of the late Harold and Florence Double McCollough.
She was a 1947 graduate of Chicora High School and had been employed as a nurse’s aid at the Chicora Medical Center for more than 30 years.  In her earlier years, Anna had been a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Chicora and later became an active member of the Chicora United Methodist Church where she taught children’s Sunday School, played the piano, organ and helped with many other church activities.  She was a Girl Scout leader for many years and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, flower gardening, and bird watching.  Anna had a strong work ethic and was a devoted homemaker.  Her life was centered around her faith and family.
Anna was married to Edward C. Dunlap at the First English Lutheran Church in Chicora on March 1, 1951.  Mr. Dunlap preceded her in death on July 29, 1998.
Anna is survived by four children, Carol Jackson and her husband, Elvie, of Raleigh, NC, Paul E. Dunlap of Chicora, Joan E. Dunlap and her companion, Paul Dooley, of Somerset, and Brian J. Dunlap and his wife, Sandra, of Summerville, SC; seven grandchildren, Eric Dunlap and his wife, Jody, Michael Dunlap and his wife, Bridget, Trevor Dunlap and his wife, Katie, Mark Jackson, Christie Devoe, Tony Dunlap and his wife, Melissa, and Troy Dunlap and his wife, Crystal; twelve great grandchildren, Alexis, Tyson, Kadence, Kaspian, Harmony, Aiden, Ryder, Cameron, Lillian, Lucas, Savannah, and Gabriel; a brother, Thomas McCollough of Tulsa, OK; three sisters, Margaret “Peg” Kerschbaumer of Brady’s Bend, Thelma Biagini of Belle Vernon, Marilyn Corbett and her husband, Terry, of Chicora, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold “Blue” McCollough and Allen “Smiley” McCollough; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, ArVeda McCollough, Barbara McCollough, Norman “Boots” Biangini, John Kerschbaumer, and Donald and Thelma Dunlap, and two nephews.

Lewis M. "Bub" Wolfe - December 16, 1938 - March 30, 2022

Obituary Preview: Lewis M. “Bub” Wolfe, 83, of Sherrett, passed away early Wednesday morning, March 30, 2022 in the comfort of his home while surrounded by his loving family.
Lewis was born in Adrian on December 16, 1938.  He was the son of the late John M. and Mildred Toy Wolfe.
He attended school in Adrian and was employed by Penreco in Karns City for more than 30 years, retiring in 1999.  Bub enjoyed working his sawmill, farming, and operating heavy equipment.  He looked forward to attending car shows with his friends.
Lewis is survived by his wife of nearly 67 years, Mary I. Fennell Wolfe, whom he married in Clarion on December 29, 1955.  Also surviving are four children, Dave Wolfe and his wife, Cindy, of Harrisville, Donna Hillwig and her husband, Jimmy, of East Brady, Cindy Northime of Cowansville, and Ella Baker and her husband, Paul, of Chicora; his sisters, Karen Cousins of Adrian and Darlene Martz of Kittanning; a brother, Bruce Wolfe of Adrian; eleven grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, one great great grandson, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Bub is also survived by his pride and joy, his dog, Sparky.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Stella Bowser and a son-in-law, Nick Northime.

Mary Elizabeth Ortz - October 23, 1927 - March 29, 2022

Obituary Preview: Mary Elizabeth Stoops Ortz, 94, of Chicora, formerly of New Bethlehem, passed away early Tuesday morning, March 29, 2022 at Quality Life Services in Chicora.
Mary was born in Fairview Township on October 23, 1927.  She was the daughter of the late William and Esther Kepple Stoops.  Mary attended Karns City Area Schools.  In her earlier years, she had been employed by General Electric and the Toy Plant in Erie, and later in the housekeeping department at Clarion Hospital and the Anderson House in New Bethlehem.  She was a member of the Oakland Church of God, and was a hospice volunteer in Clarion County.  She also volunteered at the thrift shop in New Bethlehem.  Mary was a member of the New Bethlehem Fraternal Order of Eagles, Moose Lodge, and the Auxiliary to the American Legion.
Mary was married to Clifford Ortz in the United Presbyterian Church in Fairview on January 14, 1951.  Mr. Ortz preceded her in death on September 25, 1999.
Mary is survived by her brothers: William Stoops and his wife Regina of Salem, Alabama, and James Stoops and his wife Donna of Franklin; a sister: Lois Hilliard of the Chicora Medical Center; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, brothers in law and sisters in law.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Jean Ortz who passed away October 19, 1972.Her brother, Theordore Stoops who preceded her in death on Oct. 22, 1957 and her sister, Evelyn Stoops Earley who preceded her in death on Jan. 12, 2001.
A graveside memorial service will be held at the Kellersburg United Methodist Cemetery, 1473 Madison Rd, Templeton, PA 16259,at 1pm on Saturday with the Rev. Joseph L. "Joe" Roudebush - August 10, 1937 - March 24, 2022

Obituary Preview: Joseph L. “Joe” Roudebush, 84, a lifelong, well-known Chicora area resident, went to be with his Lord and Savior early Thursday morning, March 24, 2022 shortly after his arrival at Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.
Joseph was born at the Lidecker Farm near Karns City on August 10, 1937.  He was the son of the late Lonnie E. and Rosella Shepard Roudebush.
Joe attended Fairview Twp. Karns City Schools and was stationed in Germany while serving in the U.S. Army.  Joe retired as the assistant superintendent of maintenance following more than 30 years of service with Penn Dot.
He was a long time active member of the Chicora Alliance Church where he had served on the church board.  Joe and his brother Ron owned and operated the ESSO station in Karns City.  In his earlier years, Joe enjoyed hunting.  Later, Joe and his wife enjoyed traveling and attending the activities of their grandchildren.  Joe was an avid golfer. He was a classic country music fan and most especially enjoyed the Grand Ole Opry.  Joe was a long time member and past commander of the American Legion Post in Chicora where he was instrumental in creation of American Legion Museum; he also participated in the post's honor guard at funerals. He had also been a member of the former Chicora VFW post.  He was a mason and member of Argyle Masonic Lodge #540 F&AM of Chicora.  Joe often spoke to people concerning their eternal destiny and would ask if they were a Christian and knew about the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Joe is survived by his wife, Sally A. Shook Roudebush.  The couple were the first to be married in the newly completed Chicora Alliance Church on July 2, 1960.  Also surviving is a daughter, Kelly Terwilliger and her husband, Eric, of Parker, with whom Joe and Sally had made their home for the past year.  Joe was affectionately known as “Pap” to his two grandsons, Eli J. Terwilliger and his wife, Abigail, of Clearfield and Isaac E. Terwilliger of Chicora.  Also surviving is a great granddaughter, Eleanor Grace Terwilliger of Clearfield; a brother, The Rev. Ronald E. Roudebush and his wife, Cheryl, of Chicora; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Donald Ealy of Grove City, Larry Joseph Shook of Lincolnton, NC, Debra Osier of Shippenville, Tammy Shook and Ronald Shook, both of Parker, Daniel Shook and his wife, Joyce, of Seneca, Gary “Butch” Shook of Williamsport, David Shook of Eau Claire, and Joyce Shook Rupert and her husband, Samuel, of West Freedom; his three “special girls”, Laurie, Joanna, and Kelly; as well as many friends who considered Joe and Sally “Mom and Dad”.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Roudebush; a sister, Vivian Ealy; a brother-in-law, Glenn Shook; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Albert and Virginia Shook as well as a number of other brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora, from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. Saturday and on Sunday from 1-2 p.m. at the Chicora Alliance Church, 310 East Slippery Rock St., Chicora, where a funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Mark Wallace, church pastor, and Joe’s brother, Bishop Ronald E. Ethelreda Elizabeth Welter - June 23, 1928 - February 25, 2022

Obituary Preview: Ethelreda Elizabeth Welter, 93, of Welter Rd., Butler, passed away peacefully Friday, February 25, 2022 at the home of her daughter while in the presence and prayers of her loving family.
Ethelreda was born in Great Belt, PA on June 23, 1928, the daughter of Joseph and Eleanora Cramer Widenhofer.
Ethelreda was a devout Catholic and received her first eight years of education at St. Mary School in Herman and graduated from Butler High School.  She was a devoted long time active member of St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church in Carbon Center. In 1953, she met and married the true love of her life, William P. “Bill” Welter Jr.  The Welter’s enjoyed a 62 year marriage, raising seven children, cherishing every day together while working side by side and hand in hand at the family business at their farm.  Mr. Welter preceded her in death on December 27, 2015.  Ethelreda was the family matriarch.  Her most cherished callings were serving God and tending to the needs of her family.  Upon her arrival in Heaven, she most assuredly heard the words of her Savior in the Gospel of Matthew, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” She lived a full and active life and enjoyed cuddling babies, crocheting, growing her vegetable and flower gardens, especially roses, canning, and volunteering at church picnics and events.  She looked forward to traveling with her husband and enjoyed a host of other creative activities.
She is survived by her children, William Welter, III and his wife Marlene, Dr. Elan (Eleanora) Welter Lewis, Margaret Lamison and her husband, James, Timothy Welter and  his wife, Lori, Shirley Simpson and her husband, William, and Terry Welter and his wife Michele; a daughter-in-law, Tamara Welter. Ethelreda was proud of her 27 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.  She is additionally survived by her youngest brother, Eugene Widenhofer and his wife, Shirley, who continue to reside at the Widenhofer childhood home.  Ethelreda is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law who brought her much joy.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ethelreda was preceded in death by a beloved son, Edward Joseph Welter, two grandsons, Christopher Ryan Lewis and Brian Mark Lewis, as well as her older siblings, Gerald, Mary Catherine, LeRoy, Joseph, and Wilbert. The family respectfully requests that you share your stories of remembrance with them at visitation from 2 – 8 p.m. Thursday at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora. A Funeral Mass  will be celebrated at Noon Friday at Saint Wendelin Roman Catholic Church, 210 St. Wendelin Rd., Butler with Rev. David Edward Kepple - October 15, 1934 - February 22, 2022

Obituary Preview: David Edward Kepple, 87, a lifelong Chicora resident, passed into everlasting life Tuesday evening, February 22, 2022 in the ICU at Butler Memorial Hospital with his beloved wife, Shirley, by his side.
David was born in Chicora on October 15, 1934.  He was the son of the late Edward Kepple and Mary McCollough Kepple Wolford.
David was loved by all who knew him, and he was especially loved by his family. He resided in Chicora his entire life. He was a 1952 graduate of Chicora High School. David is survived by the love of his life, Shirley Schidemantle Kepple, whom he married at St. Paul German Lutheran Church in Chicora on June 2, 1956. Together they raised five children and made their home in Chicora. He also worked at Armco for 30 years and retired in 1995.
David was truly an angel on Earth. He was best known for his kind and gentle demeanor. Dave always had something kind or encouraging to say, never spoke unkind or harsh words, and he always supported and loved his family. He adored his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren with a love beyond measure. David loved music, especially church hymns. You would often hear his beautiful tenor voice singing hymns, folk songs, and humming or whistling to his favorite bluegrass tunes. He also enjoyed watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in their many sporting events and performances. David loved nature and animals, and he also loved cooking and baking. David was an avid and extraordinarily talented woodworker. He prided himself in making exceptional and heartfelt pieces of hand designed furniture for his cherished family.
David is survived by his adoring wife Shirley of more than 65 years, as well as his five children Debbie Bossinger and her fiancé, Brian Laughlin, Ed Kepple and his wife, Lisa, Bill Kepple and his wife, Charlene, Amy Bly and her husband, Jeff, and Joe Kepple and his wife, Melinda, all of Chicora. He is also survived by his grandchildren Hannah Bossinger, Kellie Johnston, Katie Callihan and her husband, Tyler, Ashley Ciafre and her husband, Derec, Laura Blazejewski and her husband, Brian, Wesley Kepple, Tara Hackwelder and her husband, Jason, Holly Wilson and her husband, Jake, Emily Rekich and her husband, Ryan, Becca Bly, and Allyson Kepple, Zach Kepple, Tyler Kepple, and Noah Kepple. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Cole, Jaxen, Mya, Jade, Trey, Mila, Finley, Mateo, Celtan, Josie, Aubrie, and Mason; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; his brothers-and-sisters-in-law, Paul and Nancy Bard of Strattanville and Pete and Michelle Schidemantle of Butler.
Dave is now eternally reunited in heaven with his parents, Edward Kepple and Mary McCollough Kepple Wolford; his sisters and brothers-in-law Esther and Oscar Moore, Arlene and Jay Waltman; two nephews, Russell Waltman and David Moore, as well as his beloved great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Hackwelder.

Obituary Preview: Shirley L. Barnhart, 87, of Chicora, a resident of the Chicora Medical Center, went to join her husband and family in their heavenly home early Saturday morning, February 19, 2022.
Shirley was born in Fairview on August 20, 1934.  She was the daughter of the late Cecil H. and Myrtle A. Bowser Reep.
She was a 1952 graduate of Fairview Twp. Karns City High School and was of the Methodist faith.  Shirley enjoyed crocheting, reading, working puzzle books, the company of family and friends, and in her earlier years, singing with her sisters.
She had been employed for nearly 20 years at the cafeteria at Chicora Elementary School.
She married Arthur C.  “Tex” Barnhart on December 10, 1954.  Mr. Barnhart preceded her in death on March 16, 2015.
She is survived by her children, Sharon L. McElravy and Francis A. “Frank” Barnhart, both of Karns City, and Stephen Barnhart and his wife, Shelley, of Chicora; five grandchildren; three step grandsons, as well as a number of great grandchildren, step great grandchildren, and step great-great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Worley of Butler and Dolores “Honey” Barnhart of Oklahoma; a brother-in-law, James Ferris of Texas, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, a step great grandson, and a son-in-law, Randy McElravy.  Shirley was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was preceded in death by her ten siblings, Katherine Summerville, Charles “Jack” Reep, Claire “Tay” Reep, Jean Marie Clark, Bertha May Christie McKinney, Doris M. Morrow, Veva I. Lindsay, Mabel A. Corteville, Wanda Lou Daugherty, and William H. Reep, as well as a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Obituary Preview: Jeannette N. McCollough, 98, of Fenelton, formerly of Chicora, entered her eternal rest Thursday afternoon, February 17, 2022 while in the company of her loving family.
Jeannette was born in Donegal Twp. on February 13, 1924.  She was the daughter of the late Louis and Dora Lechner Garing.
Jeannette graduated from Fairview Twp. Karns City High School in 1941.  She was married on October 12, 1944 to E. Fred McCollough. Mr. McCollough preceded her in death on June 15, 1996.  She loved spending time in her garden, tending her flowerbeds and going on family vacations.  She was accomplished at quilting, embroidery and sewing.  She was well-known in the family for baking pies and cookies.  She loved watching the birds and other wildlife from her kitchen window.  Most of all, she loved her family and enjoyed family gatherings and reunions.
Jeannette was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and was a member of church Alter Guild.  Jeannette was a generous and caring person.  She drove for Meals on Wheels for over 25 years and spent many hours taking care of family members.
Surviving are her sons, Wayne McCollough and his wife, Pamela, of Lock Haven and Douglas McCollough and his wife, Linda, of Fenelton; a son-in-law, Edward Clever of Altoona; her grandchildren, Lisa Hammond and her husband, Joe, of Flinton, Melanie Gearhart and her husband, Brian, of Hollidaysburg, Marisa Lentz and her husband, Chris of Sterling, VA, Jordan McCollough and his fiance, Gabriella, of Chapel Hill, NC, Kevin McCollough of Fenelton and David McCollough of Fenelton; a step great grandchild, seven great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; her siblings, Anna Truscott of Chicora, John Garing and his wife, Harriet, of Chicora, and Marilyn Knepshield of Leechburg; a sister-in-law, Joan Garing of New Wilmington, formerly of Chicora, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband of 52 years, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Clever; her sisters, Dorothy Gallaher, Vemberline Sedwick, and Alice Garing; her brothers, Herbert and Lewis Garing; her sisters-in-law, Phyllis Garing and Jeannette V. Obituary Preview: Gale R. Hillwig Bradley, 77, of Chicora, went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday afternoon, February 15, 2022, at the Oertel Care Center at Concordia.
Born in Franklin on August 5, 1944, Gale was the daughter of the late Russell W. and Mary T. Beck Hillwig.
She was a 1963 graduate of Fairview Township Karns City High School.  Gale resided in Louisiana for a number of years.  She was employed for ten years by the St. Tammany Humane Society in Covington, LA.   She operated a pet sitting service and was known for her love of animals and her involvement in their rescue.  Gale enjoyed bowling with the “Who Dat” and “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” bowling teams in Mandeville, LA, having won several patches and pins.  Gale returned to Chicora several years ago and had attended the Chicora Alliance Church.  She had been a member of the Women of The Moose, and had been on the Chicora Light Up Night Committee.  Gale was always quick to accept an invitation from any family or friends for a road trip.
Gale is survived by two sons, Larry Paul Crispen and his wife, Jennifer of Kittanning and Michael David Crispen and his companion, Sandra Campbell of Chicora; five grandchildren, Kasey, Katelyn, Michael Jr., Ashley and Jacob Crispen; two great grandchildren, Scarlet and Wrenleigh Rae Crispen of East Brady; two sisters, Dottie Kelsea and Rusann Anderson of Chicora, and nine nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Gale was preceded in death by her twin sister, Diane Fennell. Christine was born in Franklin on May 11, 1950. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Helen Nolan Williams. She lived in the Chicora and Butler Area throughout her life. She was a licensed cosmetologist and had been employed by Penn Champ in East Butler until it closed. Christine looked forward to family “get togethers” where she was first to arrive and always managed to leave as soon as the party got started. She will be sadly missed by all who loved her; "our wife and mother can never be replaced, and we cherish the wonderful memories she leaves behind." To honor Christine's memory, her family requests you take time out of your busy life to tell family and friends how much you love them.  Christine is survived by her loving husband, Mark Schweinsberg. She and Mark loved traveling, good food and drink and most especially the time they spent with "the girls". In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Bill Northime, Jr. and Gary Northime and his wife Kim, all of Chicora; three siblings, Martha Lea, Joan, and David and his wife Jodi; three granddaughters: Ashlyn and her husband, Mike, Alexandra and her husband, Cameron, and Ireland all of Chicora. Christine was looking forward to the birth of her first great-grandchild soon. Also surviving is her niece, Sierra as well as a number of other nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; her sons’ father, and former husband, Bill Northime as well as her former husband, Darrell Keihl.

For almost a half-century, Glen was a dedicated active member of the Chicora Volunteer Fire Department; throughout his 47 years of service, Glen was a senior firefighter and had also served in the department’s EMS. Glen enjoyed watching football, listening to music, playing cards, and most especially the company of his family.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Double Craig, whom he married at Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church in Chicora on August 10, 1979; four children, Pam Burns and her husband, Dan, Kent Craig, and his wife, Beth, Stephanie Bayne, and Laura Kiser, and her husband, Rich; eight grandchildren, Billy, Kendale, Nevin, and Jeb Burns, Trent Craig, and Wyatt, Riece, and Kadence Bayne; a brother, Keith Craig and his wife, Becky; a sister, Linda Lewis, and her husband, Tom; his brother-in-law, Bill Double and his wife, Cathy; and his sister-in-law, Kim Sherwood, and her husband, Lee, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Eugene was born on April 14, 1935 to Francis Eugene and Elsie Alberta Mortimer Yough. He lived in Chicora until 2020 when he moved to North Carolina to be near his oldest daughter.
Gene married Harriet Day in Petrolia on August 28, 1954. He retired from Witco Chemical Corporation in Petrolia, PA after 44 years of service. He enjoyed being in the outdoors whether it was hiking through the woods, or watching his beloved grandsons playing baseball and soccer. Surviving are two daughters, Vicki Roome and her husband, Stan, of Asheville, NC,  Ginger Roupe and her husband, Chuck, of The Villages, FL; and a son, Matthew Yough and his wife, Georgia, of Chicora. Also surviving are four grandsons: Nathan Roupe of The Villages, FL, Bill (Brandy) Roome of Asheville, NC, Matthew Yough, and Tyler Yough both of Chicora; one great-grandson, James Roome of Asheville, NC; three sisters, Darla Fennell of Chicora, Beverly (Chuck) King of Chicora, and Rita Cumberland of Butler; one brother, Dennis Yough of Chicora, as well as a number of
sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Harriet Yough; his son, Rodney “Skeet” Yough; a sister, Donna Edwards; a brother, Gary Yough; two infant siblings, Marilyn and Robert; and a number of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Bill was born in Frogtown, near Kaylor, on July 4, 1950. He was the son of the late Harry "Short" and Doris Olcus Griffiths. Bill was a graduate of East Brady High School. He was a lifetime member of St. Paul Community Church in Sugarcreek Twp., where he was baptized as an infant. He was an active elder and served on the church consistory, building & grounds, and the cemetery board. Bill took great pleasure in traveling and driving to his kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews football, soccer, basketball, softball, T-ball, and baseball games. He also enjoyed driving or riding to camp, playing cards especially euchre at Happy Hunters, and many other vacations and adventures with family & friends.
In his early years, Bill worked at Castle Rubber in East Butler, but retired in 2012 from Witco/Sonneborn in Petrolia following many years of service.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Turner Griffiths, who would have together celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on September 15, 2022. Michael Daniels - August 12, 1926 - December 19, 2021

Obituary Preview: Michael Daniels, 95, passed away Sunday, December 19, 2021.
Born in East Butler on August 12, 1926, Michael was the son of the late John and Mary Kopie Daniels.
He was an avid baseball player growing up.  He was offered a pitcher’s position for a major league team, but had to decline to stay home to support his family.  He was drafted into the Korean War, was wounded in battle, and received a Purple Heart for his bravery and sacrifice to his country.
He learned the trade of being a brick and block mason at the age of 12.  He went on to worked for Bantam Car Company before going to war.  Upon returning from war, he went back into his trade of masonry.  He worked in East Butler for many years before moving to Florida.  He owned his own construction company for many years before his first retirement.  Michael’s last retirement was from Volusia County Schools.  He worked at Spruce Creek Elementary School for almost 12 years of his tenure with the school system before his retirement. Following his retirement Michael enjoyed working in the yard, and putzing around the house while spending time with his wife, kids and grandchildren.
Michael married his lifelong partner, Dorothy “Dot” Clingensmith on September 25, 1954.  They had a double wedding with his younger brother, Andrew and his wife, Betty Daniels.  Dorothy preceded him in death on July 10, 2021.  They were married 66 years.
Michael was a devoted and beloved husband, father, grandfather “PoPo” and great grandfather.  He is survived by a son, Michael M. Daniels of Jupiter, Florida, a son, Ronald Daniels and his son, Austin, of Jupiter, Florida, a daughter, Diane L. Riley and her husband, Mike, a son, Clinton and his wife, Brook, and their son Logan, a daughter, Christie of Madison, Florida, a son, Duane C. Daniels and his daughter, Brittany and son, Garrett of Apopka, Florida, and daughter, Dr. Pamela Daniels and her son John, of Ormond Beach, Florida; a brother, Andrew “Andy” Daniels and his wife, Betty, of Cabot.
In addition to his wife and parents, Michael was preceded in death by his brother, Jeddy, and sisters Helen, Delores and Susan, as well as a daughter-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and a niece.

Rob was born in Beaver on May 21, 1970.  He was the son of Evelyn U. Gallagher Mosier of Butler and the late George H. McCartney.
He was a graduate of Karns City High School and had obtained an associate’s degree in accounting.  Rob was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the 82nd Airborne in Desert Storm.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his son, Ethan McCartney of West Sunbury and Ethan’s mother, Jennifer McCartney; three brothers, George H. McCartney III and his wife, Becky, of Portersville, Russell J. McCartney and his wife, Tammy, of Chicora, and Brian W. McCartney of East Brady; six nieces and a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Obituary Preview: Lois J. Furey Strang, 69, of Fenelton, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Butler Memorial Hospital from an extended battle with diabetic complications.
Lois was born in Fenelton on August 15, 1952.  She was the daughter of the late Lawrence R. Sr. and Katherine Musthaf Furey.
She was a member of St. John Roman Catholic Church in Coylesville.  She was a graduate of Butler High School. She furthered her career and became a graduate of Jameson School of Nursing as a registered nurse.  She was a talented gardener, enjoyed growing flowers and plants, having operated Country Roots Greenhouse with her husband David.
She is survived by her husband, David J. Strang, whom she married at McConnell’s Mills on August 30, 2014.  Also surviving are two children, Dixie Watterson of Worthington and Brian A. Watterson and his wife, Teresa, of Butler; three grandchildren, Ken Watterson and his wife, Britney, of Fenelton, Kristopher Thomas of Fenelton,  and Steffanie Thomas, of Worthington.  Lois was looking forward to the birth of two great grandchildren next year.  Also surviving are two brothers, Lawrence “Larry” Furey Jr. and his wife, Rachel, and William “Bill” Furey and his wife, Theresa; two sisters, Carol Osche and Sandra Lewis and her husband, David, all of Fenelton, as well as a number of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by a great grandchild angel baby, one brother and three sisters.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora, from 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday from St. John Roman Catholic Chuch in Coylesville with the Rev. Melissa was born in Kittanning on January 1, 1962.  She was the daughter of the late Jon “Butch” and Patricia Swartz Brodmerkel.
She was of the Protestant faith and in her earlier years had attended St. Paul’s Community Church.  She was a graduate of Karns City Area High School and graduated from Lenape Vo-Tech in 1989 with a degree in licensed practical nursing.  Melissa loved all animals, most especially elephants, and had decorated her house with elephants she had collected over the years.  She also enjoyed collecting roosters, conversations on the telephone, and most especially the company of her dog, “Bullet.”  Melissa was well-loved and will be greatly missed.
Surviving is a son, Benjamin B. Loose; a daughter, Pati E. Brodmerkel Taylor and her husband, Jeff, all of Butler; five grandchildren, Tyler, Ethan, Jocelyn, Sydnee, and Raine; a brother, Jim Daye of Warren; her aunt, Carole Brodmerkel of Saxonburg; her cousin, Beth Brodmerkel Beeler and her husband, Dick, of Saxonburg, as well as a number of other cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sennie Northime.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora, from 1 – 2 p.m. Wednesday.  A funeral service will follow from the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Obituary Preview: Judy A. Barto Codispot, 73, of Butler, passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her family. Judy was born in Butler on March 11, 1948. She was the daughter of the late John and Janet Elder Barto of Butler. Judy or “Nan” was loved by all those who knew her. In her younger years, she was a second mom to her children’s friends, remaining close to them even as adults. She loved her grandchildren, Chelsea, Ashlie, Michael, Bree, Taylor, Jack, David, John, Luke, Anna, Sophie, and Skylar.  Even more, she adored her great grandchildren, Micah, Greyson, Heston, Harlee, and Mason - “the babies” as Judy called them. She enjoyed spending her time at camp at the river and cooking large meals for her family and their friends. Those who knew her best know her true joy was yelling at her husband “Little Mike,” to whom she was married for 57 years. In addition to her husband, Michael A. "Mike" Codispot, Judy is survived by three children, James Codispot and his wife, Julie, Kimmy Frazier and her husband, Charlie, and Kelly Michalek and her husband, Dan, as well as a brother, John Barto and his wife, Shelia, of Arizona. Private funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora.
