He was born July 1, 1997 at Peoria the son of Lewis L. “Monty” and Marlynna (Hart) McClaughry. Surviving are his parents of Fiatt, grandfather, Wilbur McClaughry of Cuba, and three brothers, Josh Windsor of Fiatt, Matthew McClaughry of Cuba, and Chase McClaughry of Macomb. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Harriett McClaughry, and Robert & Donna Hart.
As a boy Robert enjoyed Cub Scouts. He graduated from Cuba High School in 2015 where he played varsity baseball, basketball, and football. He then graduated from Western Illinois University with a degree in business.
Robert was a logistic manager for Werner Industries that handled distribution for Dollar General Stores all over the United States. He was a member of the Cuba Chrisitan Church, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Pi Kappa Phi. Robert enjoyed fishing, hunting, all sports, and spending time with family and friends.

Obituary Preview: Martha Frances Welch, 101, a resident of Clayberg Nursing Home and formerly of Smithfield, passed away at 3:38 am Monday April 8, 2024 at the nursing home.
She was born January 18, 1923 at Smithfield, the daughter of Charles W. and Ila (Voyles) Martin. She married Woodrow Welch on February 28, 1943 at Jackson, MS. He died October 3, 1986. She was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and three sisters. Survivors include three children, Robert Welch of Cuba, Gloria (Greg) Towles of Peoria, and Dan (Rita) Welch of Smithfield, four grandchildren, Michael, Joshua, Jacob, and Joseph, and four great grandchildren, Gracie, Bobby, Piper, and Billy.
Fran was a homemaker and had also worked at the former Welch Hardware Store in Smithfield. She was a member of the Smithfield Church of the Nazarene where she served on the church choir. She was a past member of the “Sweet Adeline’s” and the “Mellow Dears”. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and a huge college basketball fan. Cremation will be accorded and a graveside service will be held at 11 am Saturday April 13, 2024 at Baughman Cemetery with Pastor Dean Potts officiating. He was born May 3, 1936 at Fiatt the son of Glen W. and Ruth (Young) Haynes Sr. He married Shirley J. Gaskill on March 16, 1958 at Canton. She died April 19, 2004. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Robert Haynes. Surviving are one daughter, Janice Haynes of Springfield, MO; one sister, Betty (Randall) Tuttle of Ft. Madison, IA; and one brother, Jack (Dorothy) Haynes of Burlington, IA; one nephew, Mark, and three nieces, Tammy, Stacy, and Wendi.
Glen worked at International Harvester in Canton retiring after 35 years. He later worked at Silver Dollar City in Missouri for 10 years. Glen served in the US Army reserves. He was a member of the Cuba United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Lions Club of Cuba for 50 years.

She was born October 5, 1947 at Avon, the daughter of Eldon and Faye (Gilmore) Wheeler. She married Greg Manuel on January 4, 1992 at Smithfield. He survives with one daughter, Sandy Jo (Dwight) Eddington of Cuba, one granddaughter, Nellie Jo (Dalton Terlizzi) Lehnhausen of Cuba, two great granddaughters, Delayla Jo Terlizzi and Dacey Jane Terlizzi, a brother-in-law, Don Proper of Canton, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Carol A. Kephart, a brother-in-law, Wayne Kephart, and a sister-in-law, Marcia Proper.
Sue was a waitress at the restaurants in Cuba in her younger years. She later worked as a custodian at the Cuba Grade School for 27 years. She loved to entertain her grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She loved to mow her yard and take care of her many flower gardens. A graveside service will be held at 1 pm Saturday March 23, 2024 at Baughman Cemetery with Pastor Ellen Dodd officiating. There will be no visitation. She survives along with three children, Marcy Jo (Mathew) Kirkpatrick of Wee-Ma-Tuk, Melissa Lynn (Aaron) Prosser of Pekin, and Jared Michael Brooks of Macomb, four grandchildren, Caileigh, Sawyer, Sven, and Eir, two sisters, Janice (Tony) Birchfield of Ft. Myers, Florida, and Kathy Brooks of Smithfield, and his beloved dog, Jessie. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, David Del Brooks.
Larry was a hog buyer for Cargill for over 30 years, after retiring he worked part time for FS, and Cluver Milk Transport. Margie would tell Larry every time he left for work “watch out for deer, cars, and other things, slick spots, trees, and turkeys”.
Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushrooming, tinkering with mowers and tractors, auctions, spending time with his grandchildren, and talking about his dog Jessie.

She was born November 30, 1951 at Springfield, the daughter of Arthur and Evelyn (Gustafson) Claypool. She married Steve A. Demler on July 2, 1972 at Greenview. He survives with two sons, Dave (Jackie) Demler of Canton, and Brian (Amber) Demler of Cuba, four grandchildren, Faith, Ella, Cody, and Samantha, one great grandchild, Bently, one sister, Kris Claypool of Springfield, and one brother, Eric (Penny) Claypool of Greenview. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Kathy worked as a nursing home administrator for 30 years in Lewistown and Canton. She later served as the Cuba City Clerk for several years. She was a long time member of St Peters Episcopal Church in Canton and participated in several cursillos during that time. She enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, holidays, family picnics, going to her kids and grandkids sporting events and spending time with her husband Steve. Her family was her greatest passion. A private family service will be held at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fulton County Humane Society or St. Jude. He was born January 29, 1960 at Canton the son of Thomas J. and Virginia L. (Lafary) Wilson. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are two children, Cody Wilson of Canton, and Katie (Justin) King of Galesburg, two granddaughters, Rylee Wilson, and Oaklie King, one brother, Ed Wilson of Delevan, one sister, Cindy (Jerry) Buchen of Cuba, and his loving dog Dozer.
Joe was a farmer and worked for Thermogas. He then joined the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy and was their D.A.R.E. Officer retiring after 22 years. He worked at the Ipava State Bank for a while after retirement from the Sheriff’s Office. Joe had attended the Brock United Methodist Church in Smithfield. He was a member of the Spoon River Valley FOP Lodge 427. Joe loved working on his trucks, tractor pulling, and attending his children’s sporting events. He also enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters.

Alice was born on February 29, 1932 in Cuba, Illinois. She was preceded in death by one son, Floyd Spotser III, and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by three granddaughters Tara, Allison, and Kristen, one grandson, Floyd IV, and one great granddaughter, Alice Jane. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.
She was baptized in Mt. Carmel and was a member of Assembly of God Church in Canton, Illinois, and later moved to Prescott, Arizona where she joined Alliance Bible Church. After six years in Arizona, Alice returned to Canton.
She attended Jones Fiatt Elementary School and graduated from Cuba Community High School. She was a member of high school chorus and band. She also participated in track and was captain of the basketball team. She then attended Bradley University.
Alice worked in the office at International Harvester for 23 years until the plant closed. She was a member of Harvester Girls Bowling Team.

She was born November 11, 1929 at Cuba the daughter of Guy and Virginia (Bernard) Gilmore. She married Travis Liverett on October 28, 1948 at Cuba. He died December 24, 1961. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers. Surviving are six children, Susan Liverett of Cuba, Aaron Liverett of Canton, Travis Liverett of Quincy, Gwen Cozart of Galesburg, Joyce (Bob) Johnson of Quincy, and Cheryl (James) Bell of Augusta, twelve grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
Fannie was a homemaker and had worked as a CNA at nursing homes in Camp Point and Quincy. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Canton. She was also a member of the Lewistown American Legion Bishop Post 1 ladies auxiliary. Fannie enjoyed crocheting, playing scrabble, and visiting with family and friends.
Cremation will be accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday January 20th at the Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba with Pastor Craig Yarde officiating. He died July 9, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, a son-in-law, Todd Sepich, and a grandson, Jordan Marinich. Surviving are one daughter, Deena Sepich of Canton, two grandchildren, Brianne (Jack) Doyle of Canton, and Vanessa (David) Vandermeer of Galesburg, three great grandchildren, Mia and Cruz Doyle, and Gunner Vandermeer, one brother, Thomas (Barb) Zimmerman of Smithfield, and a nephew, J.C. (Jody) Zimmerman of Smithfield.
Ardith graduated in 1955 from Graham Hospital School of Nursing in Canton, and worked as a Registered Nurse until retirement. Ardith was an exceptional nurse and was very loved by her patients and her co-workers, and very loved by her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Cuba United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her parents, her husband Darin Sharkey of New London, MO, her daughter Melinda (David) Engel and their children, Kami's beloved grandchildren, Scarlett and Sebastian of Hannibal, Missouri, her son Derek (Beth) Hahn of Palmyra, Missouri, her brother Cory Strode and his son Michael C (Darcy) Strode of Minnesota, her sisters, Kimberly (Curt) Linderman of Center, Missouri and their children CJ, Destini, Kassidy and her children Grayson and Juliet, and Kaden Linderman, and Kristin (Michael) Aigner and their daughter Elizabeth of Dahinda, Illnios.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, her brother Christopher Strode and her son Gregory Hahn.
Kami was a teenage mother with fierce love for her children, grandchildren, family and friends.
Kami was a graduate of Bradley University in Peoria IL with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education.
She was an owner of multiple businesses and a passionate advocate for SIDS research.
She loved quilting, canning her garden vegetables and was a huge history buff.
Recently, she had been a substitute teacher in multiple counties in her area and loved encouraging her students to unplug and use their imaginative skills through interactive play that she remembered from simpler times.
Kami believed in family first, love of God and Country, and supported veterans and those with disabilities.
She was always there to support those in need.
A celebration of life will be planned for Springtime. Memorials may be made in honor of Kami and her son Gregory to the American SIDS Institute at sids.org.

He was born May 14, 1942 at Canton, the son of James and Doris (Bell) Murphy. He married Carol Jane Hughes on April 27, 1962 at Lewistown. She survives with two children, Alan Ray (Sandy) Murphy of Milwaukee, WI; and Veanna (Aaron) Thum of Canton, six grandchildren, Harrison (Leah) Murphy, Britt-Marie (Ben) Uhen, Emma-Lisa (Fiancé Dr. Brad Foulke) Murphy, Dr. Alyssa (Zach) Crawford, Jessica (Jake) Jones, and Dr. Aaron James Thum, three great grandchildren, Quinn Jones, Chloe Crawford, and Baby Boy Jones due February 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister Carol Girard.
Bob was a 1960 graduate of Cuba High School. He farmed for many years in the Cuba area before retiring. He was a member of the Cuba United Methodist Church and Shields Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Cuba Lions Club, and Fulton County Farm Bureau. He served on the Cuba High School Board, and the Putman Township Board. He was a 4-H Leader of the Big 10 and was the director of the Sunrise Showmanship at the Fulton County Fair. He received the gift of life after receiving a lung transplant in May 2003.
Bob’s funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Saturday November 18, 2023 at the Cuba United Methodist Church with Pastor Andy Hoskins officiating. Visitation will be held Friday November 17, 2023 from 5-7 pm at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba. Burial will be in Cuba Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cuba United Methodist Church or Shields Chapel United Methodist Church.

James A. Menne - October 27, 1943 - November 06, 2023

Obituary Preview: James A. Menne, 80, of Decatur AL, passed away on November 6, 2023.
James (Jim) was born on October 27, 1943, to Joseph and Margaret (Savoia) Menne. He graduated from Canton High School in 1961. After a short stint at Western Illinois University (WIU), he worked for International Harvester in Canton until 1968. On April 16, 1965, he married the love of his life Sandra (Sandy) (Ladda) Menne. Jim and Sandy had one son, Jim. Jim (big Jim) was drafted to the Army in August 1968 and was stationed at Ft. Baker, serving until November 1972.
After leaving the Army, Jim continued his education at WIU, graduating in 1972 with a bachelor’s degree in medical technology. After completing his degree, he worked at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield IL. Jim then moved to Graham Hospital (Canton, IL) as head of the Medical Laboratory from 1975 to 1984. Jim transitioned to Personnel Manager until he left Graham Hospital in 1987. In 1987, Jim and Sandy opened the Finishing Touch where they repaired and refinished furniture, giving them more freedom to minister and serve Jesus. They opened Furniture Etc., a furniture and cabinet store, in 1998.
While Jim never attended seminary, he passionately studied scripture, theology and was called to serve his local church. Jim was ordained on April 30, 2006. Over the years he was a faithful member and leader in several churches including Cuba Bible Church, Evangelical Free Church of Canton, Fiatt Independent Christian Church and City Church of Decatur AL. Throughout this time God nurtured a pastor’s heart in Jim.
In 2000 Jim was hired as Pastor Fiatt Independent Christian Church where he faithfully served until 2016. After the death of his wife Sandy in 2016, Jim moved to Decatur, AL to be near his son, daughter-in-law and grandsons. During his time in Decatur he found a community of believers at the City Church.
James was very involved and active in many things throughout his life. He loved fishing, hunting, woodworking and gardening. His dogs were always part of the family, Lightening being his faithful companion for the past 5 years. Most of all he loved Jesus. After accepting Jesus as his savior in his 30’s, his love for Jesus and the Bible grew deeper each year of his life. He was always looking for ways he could share the love of God with others. It manifested in him helping others, teaching, preaching and just caring about other people and their lives. He was in and out of the hospital quite a bit over the past few years. He always wanted to know how the nurses or doctors were doing and told them that Jesus loved them. This love was contagious and allowed God to reach people through Jim.
James was preceded in death by his wife Sandy, his grandson Luke, his parents Joseph and Margaret and his brother Joe. He is survived by his son Jim, daughter-in-law Diana, his grandson Aidan and his sisters Margaret Ann (John) Swalec and Mary Jane (Paul) Franciscovich.

Pilsun was a seamstress for 26 years at the Canton Overall Factory. She was a member of the Korean Presbyterian Church in Edwards. Pilsun enjoyed gardening, cooking, fishing, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving is his wife Cathy, three children, Chris (Amie) Churchill, Loren (Spring) Churchill, and Lisa (Jim) Jolly, a step daughter, Barbara Duffie, six granddaughters, two grandson-in-laws, one brother, Norman Churchill, and one sister, Sharon Lafary. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Curtis was a farmer, he owned and operated Churchill Farm Seed. Curtis served in the US Army reserves. He was a member of the Cuba United Methodist Church. He was very active in the Putman Township Park District and was instrumental in developing the Cuba Baseball Field. Curtis was an avid collector of farm and military vehicles.

Wanda was a cashier at Walmart for nearly 30 years. She enjoyed crafting, sewing, making quilts, and her fishpond.

Klint is survived by his mother, his brother Kyle of Quincy, his sister Kirsi of Springfield, his half-brothers Jason of Pensacola, Florida, and Brent. Klint is survived by his uncles Kim and Kevin (Vicky) Stoneking and his aunts Teresa Shaw, and Beth (Randal) Boyer and his cousins Barry (Marla) Stoneking, Nicholas (Amanda) Stoneking and Abbie Stoneking and his nepew Kash. Klint was preceded in death by his father, his half-brother Eric and his maternal grandparents Leon and Betty Stoneking and his paternal grandparents Louis and Blanche Smith.
Klint began schooling as a toddler at Eastview Elementary in Canton, IL and continued his education at McCall School, Canton IL from age of 12 to 21, including vocational and social skills. As Klint was a special needs individual, his achievements through his educational experience included many devoted teachers, principals, and aides who developed Klint’s potential to independent adulthood. Those individuals shall always be recognized with love in Klint’s journey of life.
After graduation, Klint moved into group home settings for adults with developmental disabilities. While in these homes, Froelich House and Plonka Terrace, Galesburg, Il, Klint enjoyed attending day training at KCCDD and going on outings. Klint was also a resident of the Knox County Nursing Home prior to his move to The Clayberg.
Country music was Klint’s favorite to listen to, especially Randy Travis. Klint was an avid Cubs fan and he proudly would wear his Cubs attire. When you heard Klint’s amazing laugh it was because of his knock-knock jokes he shared. Klint participated in Special Olympics and enjoyed the events. He also loved the summer KARE Camp experiences.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all those who were part of Klint’s care including the direct staff at all of his healthcare facilities.
A special thank you to all the team at OSF Neuroscience ICU who were amazing. Klint’s final journey included The Gift of Hope Program where he shall be honored as an organ donor participant in spirit. Cremation rites have been accorded and a graveside service will be held at 10:30 am Saturday August 5, 2023 at Cuba Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her parents, two infant brothers, and two sisters, Harriett McClaughry, and Esther Lovell. Surviving are one son, Ralph “Drew” Munson of Canton, three grandchildren, Bryce (Ashley), Rylee, and Sawyer Munson, four great grandchildren, Micah, Liam, and Knox Munson, and Jackson Chevalier, and a brother-in-law, Wilbur McClaughry of Cuba.
Laura graduated from Cuba High School in 1963. She worked at the Canton Daily Ledger for over 20 years and then at the Fulton County Courthouse assessor’s office retiring after 17 years. Laura was a member of the Cuba Christian Church where she was an Elder Emeritus and a Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge and assisted with the Cuba Food Pantry. Laura enjoyed her dog Rufus, gardening, growing herbs, and making crafts and pottery.
Cremation will be accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday April 1st at the Cuba Christian Church with Pastor Mike Arnett officiating. Burial of ashes will be at a later date in Fiatt Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Friday March 31st at the Cuba Christian Church. She was also preceded in death by her parents. Surviving are three children, Jessica (Chris) Butcher of Macomb, Josh (Justin Sacher) Bunch of Fresno, CA, and Bryson (Stacey) Bunch of Cuba; a step-daughter, Alison Hershewe of Joplin, MO; one sister, Janet Smith of King City, MO; and four grandchildren, Mullen and Cain Butcher of Macomb, Jackson Bunch of Cuba, and Kyle Hand of Lewistown.
Judy loved the Lord and was a longtime member of the Cuba United Methodist Church. In addition to roles as church organist and pianist, she taught Sunday school and served on several parish committees. She spent many years as caretaker of Putman Township Park and was bookkeeper for Churchill Farm Seeds in Cuba for 30 years. She also served on the Cuba Library Board and the Putman Township Park Board. Judy cared deeply for friends and strangers alike, but loved her children and grandchildren most of all. She spent her final two years at The Elms in Macomb. The family is extremely grateful for the care and compassion shown to her there.
Cremation will be accorded. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at the Hyatt Cemetery in rural Cuba. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba is assisting the family with arrangements. She survives along with three children, Daniel (Marshell) Thomson of Bloomington, Jamey (Apryl Ratliff) Ford of Cuba, and Stacey (Chris) Warren of Bloomington, five grandchildren, one sister, Darlene (Dean) Bennett of LaHarpe, and Leroy (Vicki) Thomson of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers.
Bob worked at Admiral’s in Galesburg. He was also a rural mail carrier for over 25 years. He served 8 years as the Cass Twp. Road commissioner and entertained many friends, family and community members with his charismatic personality and musical talents as a one-man band. He served his country as an Air Force Staff Sergeant.
He was a member of the Cuba Masonic Lodge where he served as Past Master, the Cuba American Legion Russell Smith Post 533 where he was a chaplain, the Fulton County Farm Bureau, and Finn & Feather in Fairview. He was also a volunteer driver for Impact Life.
Bob’s hobbies included farming, hunting, fishing, searching for mushrooms and having breakfast with his friends. Over the years, he enjoyed traveling with his wife Nancy, line dancing, four-wheeling and spending time with his kids and grandkids.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday February 16th at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba with Pastor Mike Arnett officiating. Burial will be in Cuba Cemetery where a military service will be conducted by the US Air Force and the Cuba American Legion. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Wednesday at the memorial home. Harold was a lifelong farmer in the Smithfield area. He was a member of Brock United Methodist Church, Fulton County Farm Bureau, and Illinois Pork Producers. He was a 4-H leader for the Smithfield Flying Eagles many years and had also served as the swine superintendent at the Fulton County Fair. He was the recipient of the Fulton County outstanding young farmer award in 1962.
Harold was an avid sports enthusiast, and was a part of the Cuba High School football chain gang for many years, and loved going to the IHSA State basketball tournaments. He was also an avid Bradley Basketball fan.
Services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday February 14, 2023 at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba where visitation will be held Monday from 5-7 pm. Pastor Ellen Dodd will officiate, and burial will be in Baughman Cemetery.
